Absolutely the worst hotel ever. The views are absolutely amazing but rooms are disgusting!! Pubic Hairs all over bathroom and bed. We stayed here with our family and getting into the shower and bed with other peoples hairs all over! All Over is discusting. TV doesn't even work. We are afraid to sleep bc the bed is dirty and afraid to go into the bathroom with all hairs al over the place. Outlets even work t charge our phones! read more

The definition of quaint. We had two very peaceful days. Big shout out to the hostess (can't remember her name). She was generally cheerful and helped us with a million "little things" about our trip and the local area. Eating breakfast overlooking the bay watching the lobster boats prepare is just so New England. If going to Monhagen it's a ten minute drive to the port, so a perfect place to stay. Can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff. Just a perfect place to relax. read more

Breakfast at the East Wind Inn today was delightful! We arrived at 9:45 am (breakfast is from 7:30-10:30)and our request to be seated on the covered porch overlooking Tenants Harbor was accommodated. Each member of our party of four enjoyed different items from the breakfast menu. We conversed while watching the activity in the harbor: a fishing boat offloading its catch to be trucked away, the sailing dingys from the St George Sailing School with their bright orange and white sails darting to and fro, and a paddle boarder skimming through the waters of the harbor on this beautiful morning. The breakfast was delicious and reasonable in these inflated times and our server was both friendly and efficient. I recommend sitting on the porch and enjoying the view! read more

We had dinner in the restaurant last night. The four of us each had a different entre, plus we shared two appetizers plus several extra oysters. Appetizers were lobster cakes, sort of like fish cakes made with lobster with a nice sauce and a seafood sampler of oysters, shrimp, lobster claws. Both very well prepared. The entres were duck, haddock, lobster tail and New York strip steak. All were cooked with care and skill. Accompanying vegetables, roasted asparagus, spinach, polenta, mashed potatoes were fresh and delicious. Beer and wine choices adequate and not overpriced. The restaurant seating is not large, pehaps eight or ten tables. There were only two other couples there on a Thursday evening in addition to us. We had a terrific waitress who was funny and attentive despite being clearly overworked by demands from the tavern below the dining area. We had a great meal overall, no issues whatsoever. I'd go back to the East Wind Inn for special occasion dinner without hesitation, as long as the current chef is on board. read more

The night we went, the main dining room was closed because there wasn't enough business. It was the Fourth of July. Instead we went to the Quarry Tavern in the basement and were very disappointed. It was less than average fried seafood of the kind you find along route one. Staff was friendly but clearly overwhelmed as they were short staffed. They will have to do better than that if they want to compete with the finer restaurants in Rockland and Thomaston. read more

We stayed at the East Wind Inn last month and had a wonderful time. This was the third consecutive year we have stayed at the Inn, and, as usual, we were greeted by Randy, the very attentive Innkeeper, upon our arrival. Randy went out of his way to make sure every aspect of our stay was enjoyable. Our room was spotless, had a beautiful modern bathroom, Wi-Fi connectivity and a spectacular view of Tenants Harbor Bay. We had two restful nights breathing in the very pleasing Bay air. Breakfast is included with all Inn stays. I've had "breakfast" at B&Bs all over the world but breakfast at the Inn is exceptionally memorable. I had the Maine Lobster Benedict with home fries on one morning and the Spinach and Ham Omelet with sharp cheddar cheese, home fries and toast on the second morning. Both choices were excellent. I think the Inn probably has the best home fries I've ever had! The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The chef even came out at one point and greeted us! We had dinner one evening in The Quarry restaurant, which is located on the lower level of the Inn. The Quarry has an intimate pub atmosphere and outstanding menu. We still remember the exceptional fried zucchini sticks with sweet chili sauce that we enjoyed last summer there. This trip I had the most delicious Sea Scallops, which I would highly recommend. Local musicians perform at The Quarry on certain evenings, which can be a lot of fun to listen to while you enjoy your meal or drinks. Overall, our stay could not have been better, and we are looking forward to returning to the East Wind Inn soon! read more

There is a great bar, located under the restaurant called the Quarry Tavern. It has a limited appetizer menu most nights, but on Sunday nights offers a great bar menu with their Burger of the Day, wings, salads, and a few other unique offerings. We had arrived just after the kitchen had closed, around 9:30. Even after eating two lobsters an hour earlier, I was still hungry. Not only did they prepare a salad for me, but also the bar tender offered his take home order of wings to me. Quarry Quandary: Deny the wings and potentially offend the kind barkeep, or accept them and be a glutton. I opted for the latter as they were, after all, prepared with the hottest wing sauce at the Quarry. The wings were great, the hefeweisen on tap delicious, and everyone made us feel at home and welcome. Next time I will get there in time for their burger, which I hear gives Owl's Head General Store a run for the money! read more

We stayed at the East Wind over Memorial Day weekend 2017. It was quiet and we had the restaurant and downstairs tavern practically to ourselves. It was our 1st Maine lobster dinner, and we also had the Haddock. Yum! Just be aware, the restaurant and tavern close early (9:00ish) and you're truly on rural Maine time! The innkeeper was super helpful and accommodating. He upgraded our room since there weren't many others there, and told us the history of the inn and area. The staff in the tavern were also friendly and gave recommendations for things to do. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The view of the cove from the restaurant and porch was beautiful, even on a cloudy, foggy day. It's the quintessential Maine rural inn experience. We would go back here in a heartbeat and recommend it to friends. read more

We used a Groupon for a two night stay. When I checked in about 4pm, I asked about TV and was told that this was a country inn and no TV was available. The door to the next room was open and it had plush carpeting,cable TV, and a modern bathroom. However, our room had cable hook up but no TV. The room's carpeting was indoor/outdoor, the bath curtain was stained on the bottom, toilet seat cover was also stained. Upon arrival the owner advised us that no dinner reservations would be required that evening. We were the first to enter at 5:30. I asked to be seated by the windows, as it was very hot, and we were told they were reserved. Throughout the dinner we observed other diners arriving and yet as we neared completion of our meal there remained open tables along one side of the restaurant looking out upon the ocean. The service was poor as was the quality of the seafood dishes; baked haddock was poorly seasoned and the spinach was very salty. Even though breakfast was included....I experienced a very similar pattern as the previous night-inferior service and hospitality. 30 minute wait on 2 orders of bacon and eggs left us with a very bad taste. No pun intended. My recommendation is stay away from this place! The free WIFI was iffy at best, I had to descend to the first floor each time I tried accessing . This place reminded me of the British TV series FAULTY TOWERS, but without the humor! In response to the managements comments, this was a mid week booking not a weekend. Time has not changed our opinion of this establishment. Norman Bates was a better host. read more

The inn was renovated a few years ago and it is beautiful ! The character and charm of New England was kept and the rooms now have a fresh contemporary look. The showers are beyond amazing. The view from the Inn of the harbor is fantastic. This place is a hidden gem. If you want some rest and relaxation this is the place to go. Foodies pay attention you will want to stay at this inn. The inn has 2 restaurants. The upstairs restaurant is fine dining. The chef makes beyond amazing dishes from appetizers to desserts. The scallops I had were fresh and cooked to perfection. The food was comparable to and better than most restaurants in Boston. I highly recommend the lobster benedict for breakfast !! Our waitress for dinner made excellent recommendations about the menu and provided us with good service. I ate at the Quarry Tavern last year which has a pub type menu. The food was excellent. The restaurant has a stonewall which was uncovered during the renovation. It makes for a unique dining spot. read more

This is a beautiful inn in a stunning setting in a low key, lovely part of the world. Our room was spacious and graceful, the food was terrific - including an exceptional breakfast menu! The owner was welcoming and really helpful too, including suggesting nearby places to visit such as an unexpected transportation museum which as he promised was quite remarkable. Our first visit was this June, we had a great time and definitely will be back. read more

It has been several months since we actually ate at this restaurant. Local people had suggested we go to this restaurant and I believe they were surprised at how poor the service and food were. We had reservations for 6. When we arrived the table they had set up for us was located behind the entry door and would not work well for our group. We asked the manager/owner to change to a different table next to the window. He replied that he didn't change what was set by the dining room. I asked the waitress who was seating us if we could change and she said sure. This was only the beginning. It took a long time for our order to be taken and after 45 minutes she came back and said that the scallops were not available and we had to re-order. One of the other people seated at our table complained about how long it was taking and since our original orders for scallops were unavailable it took even longer. We ended with five orders of fish. One ordered the stuffed lobster. He said it was the worst lobster on the trip and mostly breading. All the other tables had finished and left by the time we got our dinner. Our original table was never occupied. I am writing this review because the terrible management and food left such a bad impression. I hope you heed this warning and find another place for dinner in Tenants Harbor. read more

My husband and I recently spent the weekend at the East Wind Inn and had the most wonderful, relaxing experience in this quaint New England Inn. Our corner room was immaculate and had spectacular views of the harbor and the beautifully landscaped property. Randy, the Inn owner, was warm and helpful, as was his staff. We enjoyed delicious meals in both the restaurant and the tavern included the most amazing lobster benedict breakfast! Living in San Diego, it's a bit of a journey back to the East Wind Inn, but we definitely plan to make the trip there again. It's just that lovely! read more

we have been vacationing for 20 years in the Tenants Harbor area. we dined at the newly reopened East Wind restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. It was a chilly June night and did not expect to see the crowd there, most restaurants are pretty quiet this time of year. This is not a heavily tourist area. the food, service and decor all excellent. The kitchen has a 5 star chef, he knows what he is doing with food. the Lobster, corn fritters were superb as was my grilled lobster tail. my husbands clams were scrubbed clean and moist, flavorful and juicy. his steak and sauce again excellent. I usually do not order dessert but as everyone else was and they looked yummy I ordered the chocolate tasting plate. good but not up to the dinner. The pistachio brittle was perfect and well do I sound like a brat, yes, the dinner had spoiled me to expect total perfection to the end. yes we will come back and recommend it to ours friends as well. read more

I had the displeasure of trying to have a much anticipated fine dining experience at your restaurant last night as a guest of long-time summer residents of Tenants Harbor. It started off with our server telling us it was just too bad that we couldn't have the window table we'd reserved. & she'd summon the manager if we wanted to pursue it. We declined, not to make a scene. Then we discovered that the martinis we ordered were problematic, since they had to come up from the basement & furthermore, we could not have the expensive wine which our host ordered on the same table as our martinis ( in all my experience traveling around the globe, I've never heard of this restriction;;is this a Tenants Harbor thing?) Our entrees were mediocre, at best. I didn't .care for the tilapia...unfortunate that you offered it as your special.it was poorly cooked & presented & the seafood platter was served more as an appetizer than an entrée.. And to top it all off, our server had the audacity, in her attempt to be cute, I'm sure,.to ask our host to smile! Not his idea of a good suggestion!. We'll not be back. Thanks for letting me vent. I am choosing 1 star for the East Wind Inn. As two other previous reviewers, Bill and Grant, mentioned the service and management were extremely poor. We went to the East Inn Wind to celebrate our anniversary. The food was good but the waitresses and service were very poor. We needed to keep getting the attention of the waitress in order to get any service. We finally waited to receive our dessert and the waitress did not bring us any utensils to eat with. So we waited and waited and waited for 10 minutes. Finally we gave in and stopped the waitress yet again. We received no refills on water, wine or coffee. All cups and glasses sat empty with no attention. The following Monday I called the Inn to speak the Manager/Owner. I explained our Saturday evening and dinner at the Inn and he was very cold in his responses. He did apologize but offered no remedy to the situation we experienced. From his words and tone of voice I felt he was not sincere. So we understand why we received poor service while dining. The Manager/Owner has trained his staff the have the same poor attitude he himself has for his patrons. We are locals that grew up in Coastal Maine. We certainly will never return and will be sure to share our experience with our friends, family and neighbors. We will certainly take all available opportunity to advertise for the East Wind Inn. Consider carefully before choosing this place or better yet find a much more suitable place to dine. read more
