It was so difficult to get up and down the stairs, it affected our entire trip...carry out meals, one daily trip up and down for husband and me, son-in-law hauling luggage, groceries, etc up stairs, etc. Once inside, the cottage is nice, roomy,private,clean and functional. There are 2 master suites with balconies...one downstairs and one upstairs. Downstairs there is a living /dining area ( with tv), and full size kitchen ( bring your own coffee or tea). Upstairs there is a third small room with a queen bed and free washer and dryer and a " hangout out" area with couch, games, etc. The food was delicious. We had breakfast served so had to reheat some items in the microwave. Really enjoyed the morning smoothies. Afternoon cookies are a must; different homemade cookies each day. This place is ideal for able-bodied people but definitely not for those who have mobility or balance issues.

Early in the damn morning. Starting at 6am. They're not even trying to sugar coat it. They legit said it's called the noisy room. They said they sent a confirmation letter stating this would be the case but we looked and double checked and no email was sent. They didn't even call us to get a confirmation as we never confirmed and it shows on their computer system that they don't have a confirmation from us. A phone call would've been freaking nice at least we could've looked for another place to stay. We are supposed to stay for 4 nights in this geriatric hotel. Their solution is for us to move around to different rooms 3 times during our stay and still have to stay 2 nights in the "noisy room". Imagine paying close to $700/night and staying in the "noisy room" as they call it and not being able to sleep as late as you want to as you have to get out of the 1st room they put you in. Wake early in the morning again, and pack your stuff up AGAIN and move it into the noisy room for 2 nights, then do it all over AGAIN for night 4. So at no time during your vacation can you relax and sleep in or comfortably settle in your room. Or even be able to sleep with all the noise. Moving around to different rooms 3 freaking times during a 4 day stay!!!! . This is supposed to be a luxury stay/hotel. Not musical hotel rooms. This is ridiculous. Wtf. I am beyond livid. And they don't even have a manager on site until tomorrow. No one is running the place. Just a front desk clerk. No one to help with luggage or if you have any issues (like the one we're having now). Literally one person that's manning the desk/hotel. They've totally screwed us and we have no one to talk to to even try to fix this. Just the hotel front desk clerk. Had we known we wouldn't have ever booked this place and now we have no other place booked plus there's no refunds or cancellations. It's absolutely mind blowing they think this is acceptable. Maybe if we were WHITE, they would be more forthcoming on providing us a better solution. If you're dumb enough to book here make sure you're ok with them totally ruining your vacation/stay and charging you a premium for it. Also, I think the minimum age of the occupants here is like 80. Everyone looks like an extra from the movie "Cocoon". Oh their solution was to give us a crappy discount and free breakfast and move us around 3 times. Wow, that's total BS. F your rooms, discount and your breakfast. I hope they all choke on it. As far as the rooms go, they're not very nice. Not what I would call luxury by any standard. It's decorated like an old lady's house. Everything looks old even though they said they just remodeled it. Was their vision board for the remodel based off someone's grandmas house from the 90s. Because that's what it looks like. It's the summer and their AC is super weak so I'm dying of heat in this muggy weather. As I said there's only 1 person running the place so if you have any issues then you're screwed. Also the mini fridge doesn't work. Also if you smoke then forget about it. You can't smoke on the entire property. You have to walk far, way up this hill away from everything and everyone. By the time I'm up the hill I'm too out of breath to smoke. They make you sign a contract saying you won't smoke. Wtf. Screw you. I do what I want. I will try to smoke anywhere but that hill out of spite. God, I hate this place. So be forewarned. The house is older and has its issues - crickety floors, slanted bedroom, older windows, etc but this is not advertised as a five star place and you pay for what you get. Sandra has two older cute and friendly dogs and also allows guests to bring their dogs. She makes breakfast every morning and the two days we were there they were delicious. We also met a few of the other guests and ate family style. She also went out of her way to help secure a stroller for us and our baby. This was above and beyond what is expected of an inn keeper.

The room with the large bed is the only one with air conditioning. The large room doesn't have a TV but the room with day bed does have a very small TV. Each room has a sink as the private bathroom shared by a hallway has a tub and toilet only. The one thing I didn't expect was the mosquitoes in Maine during this time of the year. I got one of my first of many bites while using the bathroom at the Inn so just a warning to bring mosquito repellent or buy some at the Rite Aid close-by depending on the time of year you come visit. Sandi, the Innkeeper provided us with wipes from the common area since we didn't come prepared. The common area has a small TV and a computer for Internet use. I would recommend bringing a laptop for use in your room as the Wi-Fi worked great in my room. There is a microwave to warm up food and a small refrigerator to store leftover food and some drinks. We didn't really spend much time in the common area as we were either in our rooms or out and about exploring the area. The front door is kept open all day so make sure you lock your door to your room. This B&B is located within walking distance of some shops and restaurants in town including the Farnsworth Art Museum. One thing to also note is that you can get your car blocked here because of the limited amount of parking. You won't need a car to walk to the shops and museum, but in our case, we wanted to take the car out to buy some groceries and was blocked by someone else's car. We were still on West Coast time and woke up late but Sandi, our Innkeeper, kindly served us a late breakfast when we showed up in the dining room. We had a simple and satisfying breakfast of what was left for us on the table as we couldn't wake up early despite setting our alarm to wake up for breakfast. She brought coffee to us, made us fresh eggs, sausages, toasted English muffins, local berry jam, homemade Greek yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. Sandi was a great host and definitely accommodated us at breakfast at a later time. I could tell by the people that said their goodbyes to here during our breakfast that they definitely would return on their next trip to Rockland. Sandi is a great host with her warm and friendly demeanor. She definitely made sure you felt comfortable at the B&B. If you needed her for anything, we could have reached her by her mobile phone. Sandi has some dogs and cats roaming around the B&B, so if you don't mind them, you'll enjoy your stay here in this charming B&B with a great host. We definitely felt like we were leaving the home of a friend or distant relative. Sandi is very gracious, kind, and accommodating and I would definitely return if I found myself back in Rockland.

They filled the tiny tumbler on an angle with water and froze it so only about 3 ounces of fit and charged $17 for it. We have no problem paying for a quality crafted cocktail that actually has a mouth full in it. I ordered the gnocchi and my husband had the hanger steak and it was served with fries ...????.. really fries served with dinner at a restaurant purporting itself to be fine dining. We've been fortunate enough to dine in many places through the US and abroad that were elevated to Michelin starred so possibly we should've adjusted our expectations as after three months staying through out the entire state, we had yet to be moved by a meal and remain so. The house is located a short couple blocks from Hwy 1, so you don't have traffic noise. We were in the Carriage House which is less than 10 steps from the main house. The 2nd floor room flooring was amazingly solid and never once squeaked; beautiful wood floors. The room was tastefully decorated, had a comfortable bed and extra seating, and the bathroom was large enough to move around comfortably. I definitely recommend this B&B.
