Terrible. I have been a customer for years, both oil and propane. The service used to be good but now it's just horrible. I haven't needed the oil much for a while due to alternative source of heating but still use it sometimes so the tank is almost full. Tried to turn it on but the furnace wouldn't work. Called Holden to ask someone to come out to fix it but was refused service. Because we haven't ordered oil for more than a year. Mind you the last delivery was from them. Well, maybe I would need some if my furnace would turn on and burn it. Plus, I am still a customer since we still get propane delivered. That is how customer loyalty is treated by this company, highly recommend staying away, they will ignore you in time of need. Exploring other options. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. They were great before Superior bought them. We're on automatic delivery but we always have to call them to get off their butts and deliver when we need it. Customer service is not great either. They always tell us delivery will be three to four days after we need it. read more

Do not use them for propane. They have let my tank go empty several times and even when I paid them an expensive fee to fill the tank within 24 hours in the middle of winter they simply ignored the request. Any other provider is better. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Find someone else. I reached out to Holden in early November, when I had 35% remaining in my tank. I requested a delivery of propane and was told they would deliver "within a couple of days". Indeed, the company charged me $438 for a delivery. This morning, 11/29, I woke to no heat!! Turns out, they never delivered the propane!! When I called, they said they tried to deliver it on 11/26, but could not reach the tanks which is a blatant lie since I was working from home that day, standing about 5 feet from my tanks on the other side of a window, and no truck ever showed up. In calling, they've basically said "tough luck", the earliest we can deliver is Monday. By then, I'll be an icicle and my pipes will have frozen. Whatever you do, find another propane provider. read more

Customer Service is worthless. They do not listen and when I requested to speak with a supervisor they say I will get a call back. Then that doesn't happen. I did not need a propane delivery and told the delivery person that it was not needed until next winter. A few weeks later I got a full fill and now have two tanks of propane that I do not need. Holden is not flexible with delivery set up even when it is requested. The fact a long term customer can't speak with a supervisor is pathetic. read more

I've used them for oil for 32 years but no more. I woke to an empty oil tank and no heat. After waiting on hold for over 10 minutes the rep said delivery was suspended for an over due balance. My records prove the balance was paid 16 days ago. There were no calls, no notice, no warnings. Furthermore, that amount was from a service call on 12/17. Another tech had to come back a week later because the new blower was installed backwards. I now have to wait 3-4 hours for the dispatcher to come in to deliver the oil. It is 8 degrees outside and 53 in. Besides switching, I will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

Do not use these people. Terrible costumer service. Ran out twice and the 2nd time they said no driver on have to wait till morning.

Very dissatisfied w/Holden. Out of propane this morning, 20 degrees outside, fuels both heat & hot water. We woke up and knew immediately there was no heat, so must have been off all or most of evening. 2 nd time this season had to call for delivery, & are on auto delivery .Has been 2 hrs since 1st call, Still no results. 2 nd call & best they had to offer was we are on today's route. Gas station and oil company. I personally come for the gas, which is actually Mobil. They have newer pumps and great prices. I don't like to use to rink dink gas stations even though the prices are dirt cheap. So if your from the area and stick to mobil,shell,or sunoco, definitely stop by, you will be satisfied with the prices. The staff is very pleasant and attentive and the prices on snacks are cheap too. Diesel, fuel oil, propane, it's all here. Oh and they have a full service option read more

After not hearing anything for days I call and they tell me they are to busy to help. So now I'm stuck looking for a new company that won't bail on me and install a boiler before it gets even colder. They quickly return calls, have professional techs who install and fire up equipment and take care of permitting as well. A friend of mine is disabled, on a fixed income and lives in a trailer park. He called Holden Oil because his furnace stopped working. Turned out his thermostat needed new batteries. No one asked if he checked his batteries during the phone call and when they came out and replaced them, they charged him another $120 for 2 minute service call. When I spoke to Customer Service they said rudely that it's standard practice for a service call but again my argument is that no one tried to assist him over the phone. They're rude and thieves and not deserving of anyone's business. read more

Contacted Holden Oil this week about becoming a customer. Need new Oil Furnace for the house we just bought 3 weeks ago. Spoke to someone, asked if they did oil furnace replacement. Was told they do for their customers. I informed him this is a new house we don't currently have an oil company (the company that does this work will be our oil company going forward.) he said he would come out the following day to give us an estimate. He would be here at 1pm. I left work early to be here in time. No one ever showed up. If they were not taking new customers, that's fine, they should have told me, instead of setting up an appointment they had no intention of keeping. Extremely unprofessional. read more

This morning we woke up to a freezing cold house and shivering small children. It is the dead of winter and a big snowstorm is coming tomorrow. We called Holden Oil, who has been servicing our furnace since the previous owner built our home in 1956 (the furnace is original to our house and in terrific working condition largely because Holden checks and services it once a year). We called at 6:30am and a service technician was there by 7:00am. He assessed the situation and with parts he already had with him, fixed our heat by 8:00am. Speedy, friendly service when you need it most. We are glad we stuck with Holden when we bought our home. read more

The previous owners of our house purchased their propane from Holden. During the process of buying the house Holden wrote a letter to the sellers saying the value of the propane in the tanks was $386, so we paid the sellers $386 for the propane that remained in the tanks. After we moved in, we switched to a different fuel company that we had used for many years at our old house. Holden removed the tanks with a little less than $386 worth of propane in them because we had used some fuel to heat for a few days. When I called 12 days later to inquire about reimbursement for the propane, the person on the phone said we would be REIMBURSED $182--ONE HALF OF ITS VALUE. I asked why one-half? The person said, "That's the policy." She wouldn't budge. No one had mentioned this during my first call with the company to discuss a contract and pricing. It would be reasonable to charge a fee for removing the tanks, but in our case taking half the value of the fuel was exorbitant, greedy, and punitive. And bad for business. Inappropriate installation and settings. Cost us more than twice as much as should have on usage. Manchester, MA Be careful about their settings for pressure and too much flow and waste! 950 gallons depleted in 8 weeks despite only 65 degrees thermostat the entire time, only 2 people living in the house and 3,500 sqf heated since once zone was turned off. All 3 of our neighbors, with similar size houses, use 2,000 gallons total per year. Holden's runrate with their installation on our property has used 950 gallons in 8 weeks. Improper installation of liquid propane tank, line connection and pressure regulator and overall settings by Holden. We called 7 times in past 7 weeks. Submitted a letter to Holden two weeks ago about issues and logged concerns and issues several times in February. Improper and irregular pressure device or setting. Burned 950 gallons of propane in 8 weeks. Technician was not going to show up to fix it despite our scheduled appointment February 16. Reneged on that then I begged after shoveling a snow path for one hour that morning. Then technician came out and told us to buy furniture to save heat! Then he spent 30 minutes outside likely re-adjusting the pressure regulator that was on too much flow and wasting propane. Technician on February 16 was rude and the worst customer service I have ever received from a provider. Fuel pressure and flow was wrong and our neighbors with same size house and even higher temperature heat setting and twice as many people used 33-50% as much as our tank. We averaged only 65 degrees thermostat usage set in 3,500 square feet zones total. Holden refilled 10 days ago and already 140 gallons used without any cooking usage and 37 degrees outside average. Holden refused to send a technician to evaluate after we requested today after seeing 65% on meter this morning, March 26. Was 80% at fill up of 1000 gallons tank just 10 days ago. $2,370 or 950 gallons depleted in 8 weeks. Despite a 96% efficiency heating system and only 2 people usage. We paid for the full tank on purchase of house at closing January 30 after Holden filled it up on January 26. Today, March 26, Holden person Mark would not send a technician out to re-adjust the pressure regulator or check the tank even though 140 gallons burned in 10 days since they filled it up and warm outside. Unbelievable about their unwillingness to correct it today March 26 and my wife and I had to twist their arm and complain a lot in mid-February to get them to come out. read more

I've been coming to this Mobil station for years. I keep coming back because of their exceptional customer service. The gas station employees are always willing to help, and even help my elderly mother fill her tires with air when they are low. The man that works during the day behind the counter, Rich, is the reason I keep coming back. Always has a smile on his face and you can tell he cares about and enjoys his job. I have plenty of other gas stations that are closer to my home, but it's worth the extra couple of minutes to drive to get to this locations. On top of everything else the gas stations is exeptionaly clean. Definitely recommend stopping here if you are in south Peabody and low on gas! read more
