After many years of being a patient at the Konikoff dental office on Brambleton Ave I had a…read moredisappointing experience today, 6/17/26. I left feeling frustrated with the level of communication/service I received from Kristine Barrett, DMD. Maybe that's due to the high turnover they have at this location. I had a maintenance visit on 6/15/26 for which I had some x-rays and cleaning. After the cleaning I felt like my tooth wasn't smooth. I thought it was just part of the cleaning, and it would resolve itself. I called the office the next day and was given an appointment for today 6/17/26. When Kristine entered the room, one of the newer dentists at this location, there's only one, I mentioned to her my tooth was not chipped when I was in the office on Monday. She looked in my mouth to see the chip. She explained that if she did the filling it might not keep and I would have to get it done again. I told her that's fine and I have always been told it may chip again. I also told her I should not have to pay for it because it wasn't chipped when I arrived on Monday but was chipped when I left the appointment. Kristine said she would have to check with the office manager. I told Kristine that a few years ago one of the dentists did a crown and then when he left the other dentist said he didn't do it right and I need to get it fixed and my portion would be over $600. I didn't get it done. Well, the manager said Kristine didn't feel comfortable with doing the filling. I said, 'does she not do fillings?". Kristine didn't share with me that she felt uncomfortable performing the filing. I feel she didn't want to do my filing because I said the other dentist messed me up in the past. He is no longer there. Again, why is there such turnaround in this practice. There is a lack of customer service by Kristine. Every other dentist I've had experience with at tis location has been great along with the staff. I felt the decision was not communicated clearly or respectfully by Kristine, and I left without the treatment I expected. After many years as a patient, this experience was very disappointing. Not to mention the high provider turnover. Every time there's a new dentist. Be careful when selecting a dentist at the Konikoff Brambleton Ave location.

Our experience with Dr. Weis at the ambulatory surgical center was deeply upsetting and…read moreunprofessional. Our daughter was placed under general anesthesia for dental treatment, and we were told she needed all four front baby teeth extracted due to decay. We were never shown the X-rays, and we were not given a chance to fully discuss or understand the alternatives beforehand. Mid-surgery -- while our daughter was already under anesthesia -- we were approached and asked to sign a "refusal of treatment" form. This came after we questioned the necessity of removing all four teeth. It was shocking, emotional, and completely inappropriate to force a high-stakes decision at that point, under pressure. When we refused the extractions, no treatment was done on 3 of the 4 front teeth, and we were told by the nurse that fillings would "fail" due to the size of the teeth. This decision felt rushed and unsupported -- we received no explanation ahead of time, only a defensive conversation with Dr. Weis after the fact, where he attempted to justify his decisions instead of acknowledging our right to be fully informed. This was a clear example of "white coat syndrome" -- using authority to override parental input -- and a disturbing instance of "drill and bill" practices, where invasive procedures are pushed with minimal discussion. These were baby teeth that would fall out naturally shortly. We are relieved we stopped the extractions, but no parent should have to make this kind of decision while their child is already sedated. If you're considering working with Dr. Weis, get a second opinion first, and don't be afraid to ask hard questions. Trust your gut.

The front desk woman was truly atrocious on the phone. I called to follow up on an appointment I…read morescheduled a week ago, only for her to cut me off mid-sentence with, "That you didn't show up for." Excuse me? I explained I submitted my documentation but never received any kind of confirmation. She claimed calling me once counted as confirmation. I told her, I never got a call. No voicemail, no text, no email. Nothing. Then she hit me with this dramatic little monologue about how "from the bottom of her heart," she's so busy managing her call list and if she had known I wasn't coming, she would've given the spot to someone else on the waitlist. Girl, please. This entire exchange is the perfect example of why we're packing up and heading back to Michigan. In Michigan, they actually confirm your appointment, text, call, email, smoke signal, whatever it takes. If I had gotten a confirmation, I would've been there. I don't miss appointments. And to that front desk woman: If you're reading this, your tone was unacceptable and wildly unprofessional. I genuinely hope you wake up with a mild but persistent inconvenience every single day. Nothing painful, just enough to keep you humble.

Or something to that effect. I was shocked and embarrassed by her response. I'll keep looking for a new practice.
