One of my favorite coffee shops in the area! Everyone working there is really kind, coffee and sandwhich I had were delicious. I worked here for a couple of hours and the WiFi was great also with lots of tables to sit at. Can get busy! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee places anywhere. I'm lucky that it happens to be in my neighborhood so I can come here every morning. Eastlake Coffee + Cafe is comfortable, welcoming and the coffee and pastries are delicious. Lisa and Chris, the owners, are wonderful people who make this a very special place. One of the things Lisa and Chris are good at is hiring great baristas to work here. And one of the best of their staff is Ashley. I feel a need to respond to a recent negative review with which I couldn't disagree more. Ashley is a terrific person and a great barista. She is friendly, funny, smart, interesting and the queen of latte art (and a fabulous baker also). And, like Eastlake Coffee + Cafe, she is very, very welcoming. She is one of my favorite people and it's always a good day when she is there. But, when the place is packed and there are a lot of people in line, Ashley is all business and that business is making coffee. If she occasionally doesn't have time for a lot of chitchat, I understand that it's because she is working hard to fulfill orders and I don't take it personally. And you shouldn't take it personally either. Baristas aren't robots and, in my experience, you get as good as you give. Eastlake Coffee + Cafe is an excellent neighborhood coffee place and so are its employees. Come by and have a cup with the regulars! read more

Stopped in while waiting on the bus in the rain. The barista was working hard and very busy. They thanked me for waiting, but it took about 15 minutes per order because it seemed like they were the only one working and were just taking orders and then making them one by one. I didn't mind so much since I wasn't in a hurry but several folks seemed to be waiting a long time or left the line. I did end up missing the first bus while waiting though. The 2 stars is mostly reflective of the drink though - I didn't mind the wait or the (understandable but somewhat grumpy) demeanor of the barista, but my matcha was really bad. I asked the barista if they liked the chai or matcha lattes better and they recommended the matcha. The drink I got tasted very milky and was pretty pale compared to most matchas I get so I tried to give it a few stirs first. Despite that it was fairly flavorless and bland and when I got to the bottom there were chunks of powder clumped up. As a side note, the cafe is dog friendly at the register and outside but there's a sign that no dogs in the seating area, so there's not really anywhere to sit inside with a dog, just order or sit on the covered patio area. I probably wouldn't come back because I see similar experiences in other reviews so I don't feel confident writing this off as a fluke. Kind of a bummer. read more

i'm giving two stars because the coffee was pretty good. I don't like commenting on this type of stuff but it is what it is. Very nice coffee shop but when I walked in, I just got a strange cold stare from the guy who looks like Andrew Schultz. They smiled and said hi to everyone else who came in. Positive energy is everything. Oh well, I'll never go in there again. read more

Nice, calm coffee shop that I stopped by as I was waiting for friends! There was only one employee at the time taking orders and making coffees, but the wait wasn't too bad. The cappuccino I ordered was delicious and I enjoyed my stay. Heads up, there is signage everywhere that there are no bathrooms available, even for customers. Don't plan to stick around too long! read more

The WORSE Matcha Latte I've ever had! Drink wasn't even mixed properly and chunks of matcha powder with every sip. I ordered a plain bagel, and she gave me a everything bagel. I told her she gave me the wrong one and got a look from her like I was rude for asking for what I originally ordered. Wouldn't recommend, save yourself the troubles and go to the coffee shop across the street. read more

This is my new favorite cafe in Eastlake! I was looking for a quick grab and go lunch and saw the positive reviews, with it being only a few blocks from where I was. The cafe is nice and clean (no public bathrooms right now- FYI) and not too noisy for all the tables being occupied. After I ordered my black bear latte and gave them the vegetarian breakfast burrito from the grab-and-go case to be heated up, i sat at the bar and waited excitedly for my drink. The black bear latte- latte with honey and blackberry syrup- was divine! The smell of it alone reminded me of spring and the flavor was great! The syrup had kind of a thicker taste compared to some cheap brands of syrup that tend to be very sugary water consistency, but wasn't overpowering. The breakfast burrito was good too. I'd like to be more vegetarian friendly variety, as they only had one egg muffin sandwich, one breakfast burrito, and one lunch sandwich option. Maybe a heartier cheesy potato burrito or something. After enjoying my casual break, the bus tray and trash area on the other side of the bar was nice and clean and organized. The overall turnaround was quick and I could definitely have hung out there for longer with a laptop like some customers and relaxed for a while. Will definitely be back again! read more

Been going to this place for a while. Of the various coffee shops on Eastlake Ave, it's definitely the most consistent for coffee quality and the pastries from Macrina bakery are always lovely. The service varies widely, and my most recent visit was very disappointing. I ordered an iced mocha for myself and a caramel macchiato for my partner. I did not know that caramel macchiatos are really a Starbucks thing and not a common coffee order at a local shop. The person taking my order said nothing about it, but when the drink was ready they called it out as a caramel latte. It was fairly busy so I assumed it was someone else's. They called it a couple more times and the person at the register got my attention and said "That's yours." When I said that I ordered a macchiato and not a latte, the barista on bar interrupted me and blew up at me, saying they don't do a caramel macchiato here so they made me a latte and that I should take it. I got the hint and grabbed the drink, saying "thank you," before the barista continued and held up a small macchiato cup, saying "this is a macchiato. You didn't want this, right?" I get that it's a busy morning, and it's important to let people know policy around drinks, but there was no reason for a snarky reaction, especially when the barista at the register said nothing to correct me or confirm what I wanted when allowing me to order it. I left embarrassed and honestly angry. It made me feel like I should be getting my coffee elsewhere. read more

The stuff starts to remember our orders :) feels like a real neighbor now. The place is dog friendly and we see a lot of cute dogs around. There are water plate and dog snack by the door. My boyfriend has a dairy allergy. They are always very careful on our orders. Every ten coffee we got a free one and we've got several. The sandwiches are a bit pricy but are actually REALLY good values. You can eat it for two meals and it's very delicious. I strongly recommend Bell Town and East Coast. read more

I don't really leave reviews but honestly, this one's necessary. If you want friendly service or at least ones that's not blatantly rude, I would go somewhere else. This is coming from someone who worked in the service industry before. I literally left and went to the coffee shop nearby called Armistice coffee a couple blocks down. I spent more money just for the sake of a much warmer and welcoming atmosphere. read more

Discriminatory and Unwelcoming to People of Color and LGBTQ+ Folks I'm deeply disappointed with my recent visit to Eastlake Cafe on 9/26/24. My friends and I, all queer people of color, went in with the simple goal of enjoying coffee and getting some work done. Instead, we were met with subtle but clear racism and homophobia/transphobia from the staff. My friend E, a Mexican-American woman, had been excited to try this place after making a list of top cafes based on Yelp reviews. She had already checked out another spot but realized they didn't have Wi-Fi, so we ended up here. E held a table for us while my friend S and I ordered coffee and pastries. A few minutes later, a white male barista with a mustache came over and rudely told us, "If you want to be patrons here, you need to order here." The implication that we weren't patrons simply because E had ordered at a different cafe felt hostile. She was already planning to place an order, but we were still settling in. When E finally did place her order, she asked a polite follow-up question about one of the yogurts. The white female barista gave her a curt one-word answer and walked away in the middle of the interaction. It was dismissive and disrespectful. Then, things got even clearer. When I picked up my drink, I thanked the white male barista, and he completely ignored me. I thought it was odd but didn't make too much of it until a moment later when a white man came to pick up his drink. The barista smiled and warmly said, "Have a great day." I shared this experience with my friends, and S told me that the same barista had ignored her thank you as well. It's hard not to feel like there's a pattern when all three of us--queer people of color--were treated with indifference or hostility, while white patrons received friendly service. To add to the list of issues, the Wi-Fi was practically useless. It didn't work for my friend's intra-network, and I couldn't access my brokerage account and my learning platform. For a cafe that's advertised as a good place to work or study, that's a serious flaw. I couldn't help but notice the atmosphere of the cafe itself. Inside, every single diner was white. Every person of color I saw chose to sit outside on a cold day, despite there being room inside. It's hard to chalk that up to coincidence when my friends and I felt so unwelcome. It seems like people of color don't feel comfortable or invited to dine inside, and based on my experience, I can't blame them. In conclusion, this cafe's behavior was appalling, and I won't be returning. I urge others to think twice before supporting a business that treats people of color and LGBTQ+ folks this way. Discrimination, in any form, should not be tolerated. read more

Two big thumbs up and 5 full stars for Eastlake Coffee and Cafe! My wife and I stopped in there with our toddler a little while back for a warm cup o' joe and something to munch on while we were waiting for an appointment, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. I had a drip coffee and she had an Americano ... both were delicious. As for the food, my wife got the croissant that she most regularly gets in the mornings. It was flaky and buttery and very tasty. I went for something different this time - a blueberry pastry. I was so glad I did! The dough was flaky like a croissant and the blueberry was sweet and tart at the same time, so good! It's a great atmosphere in there too. Friendly staff, comfortable seating, and on a busy corner that lets you enjoy some quality "watching the world go by" type of viewing! =) All in all, I great experience at a great coffee shop. We don't live near Eastlake, but when we're in the neighborhood again we'll definitely come back here! read more

They have a website with a menu (no prices, tho). Very spacious cafe with lots of beverage choices. I got a Banana Bread Latte ($5.25 for 8oz) which unfortunately didn't taste like a banana flavored latte. The cinnamon dust was too overpowering so it was like drinking a normal latte with lots of cinnamon powder. read more

I absolutely love our neighborhood businesses. Today is Eastlake Coffee's "demo day" as they begin remodeling the space. But us Seattleites still want coffee, so they moved a coffee cart outside the shop so the neighborhood can swing by for a drink! Thank you Evan, for standing outside in this 45 degree weather so we can stay all cozied up with our mid-afternoon coffee. Stopped by this cute shop this weekend. Small and not much space if you're hoping to stay for a while. But perfect for just grabbing a coffee! They have plenty of substitute milk options and the coffee is amazing! For those of you that are GF, not much to eat. Just a great coffee spot! If you aren't GF, there are a lot of fresh sandwich and wrap options that would be perfect to take to go. My go to order is always a latte with coconut milk! This one was delicious. Got coffee from here this morning using the joe to go app! Really cute interior and very friendly staff! They have a nice smattering of pastries and unique drink options. I got the banana bread latte and it was amazing! I was a little hesitant to order it but it's the best latte/coffee I had while visiting Seattle for a few days. I stop by here every couple weeks. I enjoy the roast on the beans; the coffee is never too bitter or acidic, just smooth. The baristas are friendly and quick. I tried the sausage, egg, and cheddar breakfast sandwich yesterday and really liked it. I'll be back soon. I've not worked from here before, but there are always a few folks working from laptops so it seems the guest wifi is strong. They also have dog treats outside and benches. read more

I like that this place uses the Joe app. Makes picking up coffee more convenient. Cold brew is really good. However, sausage and egg biscuit tasted like a hockey puck. Truly. A hockey puck might taste better, actually. Can't believe What a waste of 5$. It is inedible - super disappointing. I will next time go somewhere I can get a decent breakfast sandwich AND coffee. read more

Have passed this place for 3 years on my way to work and finally decided to give it a try. 1st impression is a clean, nice, local coffee corner place. Unfortunately the Barista this morning seemed barely present. Indiscernible greeting, same acknowledgement of my order via quiet low mumble, made me hope they actually got the order, followed by same not quite loud enough to hear whisper when drink was ready. For the Seattle premium pricing (This place is pricey!same order about 20% less at Starbucks or other places) I would hope for more welcoming and upbeat service. I get warmer vibes from almost any coffee shop, which is what should be the norm for early AM getting your expensive caffeine start for the day. Upside?? The Latte was very well made and tasty, as was the pastry I tried, so there's that to build on. read more

Meh. It's possible that the baked goods might be awesome, but they sell out so early that by 10 something they were all gone. I was psyched to try their cardamon latte, which was ok (but just). I wished I had tried a sip before leaving b/c it def needed SOMETHING- - -more sugar and creamer in the very least. read more

The tortilla de patata, was also fine. That was the good. Overall, the food, as simple as it was, was really, really dissapointing. First, they rely exclusively on a microwave and a toaster oven. This should probably mean they serve only a few premade pastries and maybe come fiambres and call it a day. But I did not realize this when I ordered churros con chocolate for the whole family. Instead of having freshly fried churros - the only way to serve these, and the only way you will ever have them in any cafeteria in Spain - they preheated some pre-baked abominations along with a schmear of cold fudge sauce in a saucer. For a place so infatuated with Spain to serve something so wholly inauthentic really surprised me. Is it that hard to make chocolate a la taza? Is it that hard to have a frier and serve up some fresh churros? That's what we thought we were getting.... The ensaladilla was also a poor imitation of a Spanish classic, with mostly mayo, hardly any tuna, and punctuated with a smattering of pale peas. Even the pan con tomate, jamón y queso was bad. I confess that I've never understood the Catalan tendency to grate tomato on bread for these montaditos, but Ole doesn't even do that. Eschewing this easy opportunity to use a fresh ingredient, they squeeze some cold tomato sauce on a slice of toast instead. Almost as bad, the jamon serrano they use is cold and presliced (meaning that the salt is brought to the surface of the meat), instead of room temperature like jamon needs to be, rendering it dry and hard instead of warm and tender. In short, Ole cuts corners at every turn, relying on premade dishes for nearly everything, a decidedly un Spanish approach to food. Seattle desperately needs an authentic little Spanish cafeteria where folks can get good, simple freshly made tapas made with love. This place doesn't even try. With all that being said, if you want a good coffee and to be surrounded by people who love the language, Ole offers this. And that's pretty good too..

You hear and read only Spanish, and if you're well versed in the language, you will spot everywhere the signs of Castilian Spanish from Spain. Watching people struggle a little bit ordering drinks and tapas brought back similar memories from travels to Spain with one big difference. Here, the owner is also a Spanish teacher (there was a class in session in the back room while I was there), so she helps you through the experience without breaking the spell by resorting to English. It wouldn't be fair to comment on the food barely 24 hours after opening. We'll see how that develops. Their intention is to provide a rotating selection of Spanish tapas. They have no kitchen, but neither do many Spanish bars. The beauty of classic Spanish tapas (jamón, queso, boquerones, pan, aceitunas, etc.) is they don't require cooking. The key is quality ingredients and as they say in Spain, "poca floritura." Olé café is the perfect remedy for Spanish nostalgia. As I stepped outside and returned to Seattle, USA, I marveled at how small our world has become.

Besides Cafe Vita, this really is actually among the finest coffee areas ever! They are fast, friendly...and a certain indication of an excellent cafe -- when they recall my face and understand my order. They're making it as I walk up. The waiters asked me my name several times after purchasing and now they say hello. I actually believe Voxx is about the individuals as well as the setting. Unlike lots of the darker, moodier areas on Cap Hill, etc... (which are excellent) this actually glows in the sunlight. It is great for a small business meeting or simply sitting on one of the stools to people see. I've never been there at night however they do serve wine. They're also beginning to serve some light fare like sandwiches and wraps, etc. Overall the cost is not awful either. I get a tiny cappuccino or latte and it is less than three dollars. read more

As a regular customer of Eastlake Coffee, I have to respond to Mr. Ray A. of San Francisco, CA who alleged racial and anti-LGBTQ discrimination. First of all, most of the staff who work there are also queer. For example, the "barista with a mustache" is both queer and not white. How could you get that wrong? Many regular customers (myself included) are queer and feel entirely welcome. Basically, you came in with a drink from another cafe, parked your laptop at a table and got huffy when he told you you needed to order something from this cafe. Then you looked around and told yourself a completely untrue story trying to make the cafe feel like Apartheid-era South Africa. The review is completely unfair to the mostly queer, multi-racial staff of Eastlake Coffee. So quit with your big accusations that have zero basis in fact. read more

I normally hit up Starbucks because I know what I'll be getting, and I usually don't have good experiences at small local coffee shops. Maybe it's because I grew up drinking mostly Starbucks, and it's the taste I'm accustomed to. Who knows. I had some time to kill one morning after I hopped off the bus and came in and ordered a mocha to go. The atmosphere of the place didn't exactly win me over...it seemed very pretentious and snooty. But the people at the counter were super nice, and the girl who poured my coffee into the to-go cup even poured a cream heart - SUPER cute, and I felt guilty having to put a lid on it so I could carry it to work. Wandered into this place while in town on business. The store was busy, but people seemed to come and go pretty quickly. So it never felt over crowded or overwhelming. People were either gathering with their friends chatting/laughing, while others sitting solo reading and working on their projects. Mocha very rich and chocolatey. It brought out the dark espresso flavor and had some black cherry notes. Delicious with almond milk. Not too sweet either. Could use more sugar in my opinion. I really like this area. I go to Voxx regularly to examine. I enjoy that it's simple to locate a table, has a lot of factory outlets, and free wifi. They serve Stumptown coffee, which has never disappointed me. In addition they have sandwiches, wine, and beer. The baristas have ever been quite friendly, I definitely recommend checking it out. The single disadvantage would be that they bill a card minimum should you not spend more than $5.00. read more
