They closed about an hour and a half early last Saturday while myself and about 6 others were in line. They were pretty rude about it. I understand it's nice to be able to close early sometimes especially for the employees but also don't believe it's really a good business practice since it really isn't consistent and involved turning away potential paying customers. Advice would be treat the customers you're turning away kind, offer them some incentive or good faith to consider coming back. There are a lot of other things competing for Grand Rapids dollars. read more

Emad has built a comfortable and vibrant scene. The hookahs are clean, the shisha blends are on point, and he has a number of event nights that are great fun. A special treat is the spoken word night on Wednesdays. If something's not right, they work to make it so. I don't smoke, my friends do. We went the other night and I ended up being pleasantly surprised. They sell Jones soda, so while they got their hookah on I relaxed in the overly plush couches. It actually doesn't smell too bad, they got some that was vanilla flavored and it smelled like cookies the entire time. Unfortunately, it was DJ night and their DJ is not good at all. He plays the same music every week, and there's no crowd interaction. Way too loud, not even good music to begin with. The wi-fi was also down for the night, and conversation was nonexistent due to the noise. As soon as he packed up around 1 AM, everyone got a little livelier and conversation picked up right away. I won't come here on my own, but if my friends are going I won't hesitate to tag along. read more

Your typical chill hookah place with open space and couches. They have Khalil Mamoon hookah bases and offer a range of different head options. My hookah was not hitting the best (I prefer modern hookahs like the Starbuzz Unicus) and it was slightly harsh, but I have to give this place 5 stars because of its customer service. They were extremely polite and attentive with charcoal changes. My spiced chai pumpkin pie orange head came out to be $21. read more

Frat boys, freshly turned 18-year-olds, top 40 blasting, expensive fare, people yelling. Not a very "chill" place for what would be considered a chill activity. Purchase your own hookah, have your friends over, get high quality Shisha. You'll be better off. read more

Very hip place and in a great location for a business like this. If you have never been to a Hookah Lounge I would suggest finding a friend that has in order to have a good experience. Neighborhood can be intimidating but over all a great place. Even if you don't like smoking it's a nice place to kick back and relax with some friend that do. hit it or quit it? hit it. come in and settle down to chill. snapshot: a relaxing place to unwind and lounge about (or study, so long as it's before 8 PM), open early AND late (check hours, they aren't the same every day), they have okay wifi, great friendly service, good hookah, and lots of snacks. if you come after 8pm it can get crowded and loud. full review: i've been coming here regularly since before i moved to Grand Rapids. Emad is a great guy and his staff are a fun and friendly bunch. this place is definitely a candidate for a 'Cheers' type place that has it's own cadre of regulars and loyalists. you know when they have that, there has to be a reason. you walk up to a place tucked in between a sports bar and a great breakfast joint. there is street parking and a lot out back. when you enter you'll see a cozy and eclectically furnished space with an industrial look. almost immediately you'll be greeted by someone who will check your ID, seat you, and take your order as soon as you're ready. the rule here is three people per hookah and Emad and his crew are very strict with I.D.s and bringing in of banned substances like alcohol or marijuana, it's a zero tolerance policy on both counts. prices are reasonable. there are three big screens, one at the bar and two in the seating area at front. you can use the jukebox but it's hit or miss with the playlists, especially if several people are using the online app to pick songs. clientele before 8pm is a cross section of the people of Grand Rapids. in the evening a lot of college students like to come in and hang out, enjoy the music and hanging with friends. they can get loud and it can get crowded. i usually go by myself and sit at the bar so for me this isn't a problem but it can wear on you. with that being said people are pretty well behaved. what's really important is that this place is actually quite unique. aside from coffee shops, which are typically smaller and filled with tables and chairs, there isn't much in the way of a quit place you can kind of treat like your own living room to chill, work, or study. if you go here, tell 'em doc sent you. it won't get you anything, but it makes me feel totally boss. also, ask for a west coast special (guava lemon mint). lets make the WCS a thing people! read more

I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to enjoy quality time and quality hookah alone or with their friends. By far the worst customer service around. I have a lot of friends that enjoy smoking hookah so we've given the Grand Rapids Hookah Lounge more than a fair amount of trys. Each time a different inconvenience. Rude on the the phone. We waited almost 45 minutes for a drink. We have received surprises on the bill multiple times. Despite giving them a chance. It's constantly an upsetting outcome. However they do have some of the best flavors. Your better off getting the hookah tabacco either here or Shake Down and just smoking at home. read more
