The best place to get artwork framed. The owner is very knowledgeable, professional and nice to work with. We have gotten a few oil paintings framed by him and have gotten outstanding results each time. He has quick turnaround (1-2 weeks) and is vey reasonably priced for his quality of work and the area. We are new to purchasing and framing artwork and he takes his time to show us all of our options, makes nice suggestions and does not push any choices or more expensive frame jobs on us. One of the paintings we brought in had gotten cracked in the carrier tube; he did a wonderful job straightening it out and even found a few places we could get it restored should we choose to do so. I rarely write reviews, but I am so impressed with Joe at Eastside Art Gallery for doing a beautiful job framing our oil painting and for exceptional customer service. I dropped off the painting in March 2020 right before the COVID-19 lockdown. Joe reached out to assure me that the painting was safe in his shop while the city was shutdown and business was halted. This past Thursday I hosted a big fundraiser for about 100 guests on behalf of Women for Women International supporting the organization's work for women survivors of war in conflict areas. Went in with art and spent a long time selecting the right frame, etc. I was quoted a price of $250 (no glass, just stretched canvas and frame). I told the guy I had a Groupon for $200 and would pay the balance in cash. He told me that his boss said the Groupon was only good for "some" frames. Mostly the black ones, he said. He'd do a deal for me (an extra $180) but he was "bending the rules." I told him I'd go home and double check the terms of the Groupon, because I had bought it for this particular piece of art and would not have if I had known the restrictions. He desperately tried to get me to pay for the deal but I insisted that I would check and come back. I checked. There are NO RESTRICTIONS on the Groupon. I called and talked to his boss who said, "I know it doesn't say it, but you can only use the Groupon with certain frames." I said, "If it doesn't say it, then you can't limit it. What is says is what gets someone like me to buy the thing in the first place." He replied, "If you don't like it, call Groupon and get your money back." I have and I will and I will never go there again. I hope you don't either. With the multitude of little framing shops on every block, they are going to have a hard time staying open with this type of attitude. Groupon should not allow them to use the service anymore, as well. Can you tell I'm pissed? :) read more
