We called our usual pest company and they came and sprayed the nest - during the middle of the day. That night I got stung. It was not pleasant. We ended up with our kitchen being off limits for almost 10 days because they KEPT COMING INTO THE HOUSE! After repeated calls to the pest guys (who kept reassuring us that the spray takes time), we finally called Dan! Dan came to first give us an initial consult 5 days into our ordeal. He wasn't convinced that our problem was taken care of then, but we were all in agreement to give it a few more days. Well the few more days didn't help. And here we are...today. We called Dan back and he came with no hesitation and had an action plan already in mind! He made his first cut behind the dishwasher-because we had seen the yellow jackets flying into the house from the sides. Upon moving the dishwasher, he was greeted with about 100 dead yellow jackets. Unfortunately the nest was not there. He then examined outside where we had seen them coming in. He then made a second cut inside through our lath and plaster (about the size of a softball-maybe a bit bigger) and FOUND THE NEST. The spray had only partially damaged it and it was 'still alive and very active' and was about the size of a large honeydew. Dan removed it quickly and patched up all the holes. Dan also gave us recommendations on how to fix it going forward. He also patched up the hole outside with steel wool to prevent any more yellow jackets from coming inside! Dan gave me my life back! I would tell the workers this the day before to remind them and they still could not follow that simple instruction. Less work right? So, they screwed up many times. The final time was December with another new guy showed up the day after I reminded him, in writing, not to spray chemicals. Guess what, they showed up the next day WITH A SUPERVISOR, and proceeded to spray chemicals all around my house. They also put GLUE traps in my crawl space without asking and I never would have authorized that. I decided to cancel my contract AFTER that and called the company running the comcast-like gauntlet of 'what if we gave you this or that credit'. I declined and asked to cancel and they removed my credit card. I was not informed of any remaining balance. After that, they sent me a bill for the service that they once again screwed up. He said he would be back Saturday with the correct traps as he was there to "bid" a crawl space clean out, not address the current contract of getting rid of the rodent/s. No call no show Saturday. I called the front office Monday to confirm they would be bringing the correct traps out and to set a new day. She said someone was coming out today/Monday- even tho no one scheduled that with me. Needless to say, by the time they did come back out to address the original contract, they removed all but one outside trap. Then that technician insisted on coming over to check the trap on a day I wouldn't be home. I asked him to come by on a day I am home as I am not comfortable with people being at my property/house when I am not. He said he will just get permission from the landlord since she paid the bill. Why would a person/company not respect such a simple request? I feel awful that my landlord paid this amount of money for literally nothing but a headache. In July, their technician said there was "no evidence" of rodents in my attic. That was a blatant lie. No one showed, no one called. When I called, I was told they "don't give ETAs." The technician never came. Meanwhile, rats got into my kitchen. My children have been breathing contaminated air for months. Their repeated health issues suddenly make a lot more sense now. Because of their failure, I now have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to rip out and replace insulation, clean up mold, and eradicate nests -- something that should have been caught long ago. This company took my money for years, never fixed the problem, never warned me about entry points, and clearly never cared. They strung me along while my house became infested. For $500, I received: -An 20 min initial visit from a technician that involved setting the $5 black clamp traps that can be found on Amazon with peanut butter bait, all within a 2 ft radius of the entry hatch for an entire attic -A follow up as the technician didn't have enough traps initially -Another follow up where a 18"x12" wire mesh was installed that covered roughly half of the hole What I didn't receive was: -Traps set in any useful location, all 6 traps were set within arms reach of the hatch of the attic because it is not their policy to go into the attic....to eradicate rodents in the whole attic. -Any inspection of the attic for additional entry points, nests, rodent carcasses, damage, etc. because it is against their policy to go in the attic -Traps that would exclude the squirrels from the attic such as one way door traps or any other techniques other than the cheap clamp traps -Traps outside to get them while on the roof going to the entry location as this was not their policy either -A sufficient exclusion treatment of the 1 entry point, I had to redo it myself to fully close the hole -A technician equipped with a ladder to access the roof -Any follow up to my email detailing the issues before leaving a review All of this resulted in exactly 0 squirrels caught on my property. Will never choose them again. Kudos to the technician on his attitude and timeliness. But he was not experienced nor equipped with techniques, equipment, or policies to do the job.
