Posting this as a warning to avoid all Edd Kirby dealerships…read more I received one of their promotional mailers claiming I had "won" a $1,000 prize. In the smallest possible fine print on the back, it mentioned that "other prizes may be awarded," but the overall impression was that I had actually won something substantial. At the time, I was struggling financially and holding onto hope that this might help me get through the month, so I went in to see if it was real. What followed was an hour and a half of high-pressure sales tactics. I was cornered in an office and aggressively pushed to sign paperwork for a new van--despite explaining that I could barely afford to keep my current car running, let alone take on a new payment. When it finally came time to "claim my prize," I was handed what I believe was a five-dollar gift card. This happened quite a while ago, so my memory may not be perfect--but that's what I recall. That was the entire prize. When I questioned it, they pointed to the fine print as justification. But regardless of the technicalities, this kind of bait-and-switch tactic feels incredibly predatory--especially when targeting people who are already in a difficult financial position. This happened at the downtown Chattanooga location, but I've also seen the same misleading promotion come from their Walnut Ave. location in Dalton. I'll own up to being too trusting, but that doesn't excuse their tactics. In my opinion, this kind of behavior is unethical and predatory. Based on my experience, I wouldn't trust anything--not even a tricycle--from any Edd Kirby dealership.

I visited Mtn View Nissan of Dalton with a retired NC educator to purchase a 2020 Nissan Versa S (…read more97,758 miles) advertised online at $9,289. He traveled from Western NC with a certified cashier's check ready to buy. The online photos showed the car in clean condition. In person, it had multiple undisclosed dents and dings, one rusted through the paint, disintegrated wiper blades, heavy dirt on all rubber, tree sap under the hood, and a filthy interior despite the salesman promising it would be detailed. During the test drive we heard an engine rattle. I removed the oil cap with the engine running and found severe blowby that covered my hand in oil, plus heavy sludge on the cap, indicating serious engine wear and neglected maintenance. A Nissan franchise dealer with trained technicians should have caught this before listing it. When we said we were cash buyers, the salesman disappeared then returned with paperwork showing $12,000 plus an $800 doc fee, totaling $12,800 -- a 37.8% increase over the $9,289 online price. When we mentioned comparable cars elsewhere, he told us to "consider where we were at," implying we should pay up because we traveled far. We offered $8,500 cash backed by KBB data. They refused. This was bait-and-switch pricing, false advertising through misleading photos, and failure to disclose mechanical defects.
