Didn't love it. The chicken is very clearly fried in the same oil as the fish -- disgusting! Service was very slow despite the place being nearly empty. And it's LOUD. But the coup de grace was that they help themselves to an 18% tip on *all* bills, not just large parties. I was there on my own and still got charged. So they helped themselves to this excessive tip, and obviously because you've no choice in the matter, they didn't feel the need to provide great service. And it showed. I'd been wanting to come here for the longest time, and while my Mom was visiting recently I took the opportunity to take her there for brunch one Saturday about 2 weeks ago. We were greeted warmly by a lady at the Bar, and a gentleman at the host stand - showed us our table - it's a really sweet place, very inviting atmosphere. Our server - I believe he said his name was Monte - stopped by got our drink orders and came back a little later to get app and food orders. We started with the Cognac Glazed Wings and Fried Green Tomato appetizers- both were on point and delicious- fried green tomatoes were perfectly sliced (thin) crispy and good. I was pretty excited at this point looking forward to our main courses ...things went a little south from here - things began to get overlooked and we began to feel forgotten about..server disappears for a while - well he didn't really disappear he just went and sat at the bar for a while and busied himself with his phone...meanwhile our drinks were empty and our food was sitting in the pick up window ...he eventually brought it all out and it looked amazing. While we were waiting my Mom asked another person (the gentleman who seated us) for more coffee - he took her cup then came back and said it would be 15 mins as a fresh pot was brewing. As we ate our food which was various temperatures- my side of potatoes were ice cold...I managed to flag down Monte- and asked him if I could possibly get some hot potatoes- he took the side and headed towards the window to the kitchen ...then back to the bar to get back on the phone. During the next 25 mins - No coffee ever arrived and my potatoes never made it back...the biscuits are good btw ...they split them and toast them on the griddle- mine was good but my mom asked me to taste hers and it tasted like old rank grease had somehow been on the griddle when hers was toasted. Monte shows back up after a bit of time and presents us with a ticket that has and 18% tip already figured into the bill - I would absolutely feel great about that and likely even have gone to 20% for "decent" service, hot food and coffee...but our service experience wasn't good and when given a chance to make things right- you leave and never come back other than to claim your tip.. I can't do that again. I'm leaving a 2 star primarily for the service issues and being made to feel like we didn't matter. The wings and chicken w/biscuit were good. The catfish and shrimp were a bit fishy tasting (like thawed in fish water and fried). Service was very slow, but we did not have to wait to be seated. It's so cute and the food is good! I was greeted promptly upon arrival for my reservation. There isn't any real waiting space inside the restaurant but plenty space on the front patio. Once seated, my friendly server Mahogany reviewed the menu with me. On to the food, the biscuit meals are served on small plates, heaping with the biscuit and toppings. Pretty decent food and atmosphere. If you like 90s (and a little bit of 80's) R&B classics, then I must say the playlist was FIRE. That was probably my favorite part. I MIGHT have to go back when the smoked turkey neck and collard green biscuit is available, because it was all gone! It sounded good and probably is. But the catfish and grits dish was a solid backup. My partner calls it "brunch hooters," because the people on the waitstaff wear these cute little pink shorts like the person in the mural art.
