The staff is nice but the work is terrible. I guess you get what you pay for. This isn't my usual eyelash location, it just happened to be more convenient for me at this time. First time I went I was very happy with the results. Made an appointment for 2 weeks later in order to get the best rate on fills (they charge you more the longer you go between fills, which makes sense), even though in the past extensions have lasted 3+ weeks. I quickly realized these lashes were not going to last that long, so was glad to have the 2-week appointment. I was OK with them not lasting as long, as they were less expensive than extensions I have gotten before. I show up at my appointment 2 weeks later, only to find the place closed. Apparently there was an issue in the building and they could not open that day. I understand that things happen, but very frustrating to not receive a call or text. They said they would honor the 2 week rate but only for 2 days, which didn't work for me as I was leaving to go out of town (unfortunately with sparse lashes). Finally after some back and forth they finally agreed to honor the 2 week rate. Unfortunately they seem to have taken their annoyance with me out on my lashes, as they look nowhere near as good as the first time - in fact, they look pretty terrible. They are longer, uneven lengths, curled more on eye than the other - just bad, and NOT the natural look I wanted and had before. I said something immediately after that I was not happy, they looked sloppy, uneven, etc - they said it is because my eyes are different shapes? Had this been the first time I got extensions I might have believed them...but I have gotten extensions multiple times and have never had this issue. The tech who did them also seemed inexperienced, as it took much longer than normal - she seemed to struggle with applying the patches below my eyes - put them on and took them off several times. At one point it felt like she was removing already applied lashes with tweezers (and probably my natural lashes along with them). Not a fun feeling! I am strongly considering going to different salon to have them removed, they are that bad. However I worry that will damage my lashes, so I will likely just wait. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I woke up to find 4 lashes on my cheek (normally I would not be happy to lose lashes so quickly...but in this case, they can't come off fast enough) read more

Just an update to follow up on Ebenezer's response... Eyelashes that fall out 3 days after application is unacceptable, no matter how light and healthy the glue. Literally not worth the hour it took to apply or the $94 (plus 20% tip). The companies' comment basically acknowledges that their glue is terrible and their customer service leaves much to be desired. You think I wake up looking like this?! :::waves hands over face::: HA!! I'm not the high maintenance type - do my own mani's, shopping can bore me (after an hour I don't care anymore), and I shave once in a while (jk I shave jeeeez). BUT I am Asian and when you're Asian you aren't blessed with things like a JLo derriere or thick eyelashes. I'd been fascinated with the idea of eyelash extensions and Ebenezer was the cheapest non-shady place I could find so made an appointment. Enter tower of terror elevator to 2nd floor where there's a clean and decently decorated room. Give them your coat and take off your shoes and lay down on the table. They'll ask what kind of lashes you want, basically short, medium, or extra long. My first time I went short which looked really natural but I wanted more so went medium for my touchup. And then for half an hour they'll apply. Completely non-painful; I fell asleep and moaned myself awake which was embarrassing. I tried to hide it by coughing. It comes out to $90-$100 the first time and touchups are less. Compared to $300 for high end places, it's a steal. But my eyelashes lasted about 4 weeks before falling out (high end places are supposed to last up to 6 weeks) and my lashes that grew back were thinner. I'm also not used to keeping my hands off my eyes since I like to rub them when they get itchy. Hmph. It's great if you want to spruce up the mug but I can't afford to do it more than say, twice a year. They are flattering though - subtle but makes a difference. When I was in Texas (not by choice) my aunt wondered what looked different about me and when I told her she went out and got them herself, and then told her co-workers who also got them... So if you see lots of middle aged Filipino women in Texas walking around with super thick lashes you'll know why. read more

I have only been to Ebenezer once and was really disappointed with the lashes I came out with. You couldn't even tell I had them done except when I looked down or had my eyes closed. I had a great experience at a place called Albina's during spa week, but their regular price was too high for me (180), and a coworker suggested Ebenezer instead. I was incredibly disappointed with their communication and their service. First off, I now know they have a special solvent that can remove las extensions but when I came in (with some remnants of my previous trip to Albina's) they PLUCKED the old ones out, which obviously included my actual eyelash. Some of this was incredibly painful, but since I didn't know they had some solution that would have taken care of this painlessly, I thought I just had to deal with it. I am still not sure why they did not offer it to me as a choice. Secondly, after my lashes had been completed and I complained about how short they were, they told me that my remaining lashes after the first treatment (and after they plucked the hell out of them) were too short to hold the medium length extensions I had requested and had given me the short ones instead. The fact that my lashes were too short is not their fault but I couldn't believe this was not communicated to me as they put the lashes on. If they had told me this from the beginning I would likely have waited a few weeks for my natural lashes to grow out in order to take full advantage of having lash extensions. Since then I have started going to JJ Eyelashes and I absolutely love them. When you come in, they offer you the J-curl or the C-curl in various sizes on a cardboard sheet so you can judge for yourself what size you want, something Ebenezer certainly did not do. They talk you through the entire process, give you great follow up pointers and during the process, they will tell you if something doesn't work (like if you choose a length of lash that is equivalent to your own instead of longer). I debated about writing a review about this place. First, I'd like to say that it's great. However, you know how it is when you refer something to people and then it gets so busy that you can't get an appointment anymore?...well that is what I'm afraid of. I already sent about 20 people here so the cats out of the bag anyway. Okay....this place is fantastic. Eyelash extentions are usually around $200-$250 for good ones. This place cost $90 for the first visit and anywhere between $35 - $45 for the you touch-up visits. It's located in Korean town and you will miss it if you are not looking. They have two locations on the same block, but the 32 W. 32nd address is nicer. Now, don't expect it to be Bliss spa, but its nice and clean. The people are wonderful and so friendly. It takes about an hour, but you lay down, close your eyes, they put a blanket on you and they massage your hands/arms and/or legs....I fall asleep every time. The eyelashes last long . I get compliments on my eyelashes from strangers all the time, but I never tell...Just thank them and move on.... Go check it out, but don't tell anyone. ; - ) read more

The first few times that I went to Ebenezer, I thought it was amazing. Cheap service and full of lashes on my eyes, I loved them. I continued to religiously go for at least 20 times, since they fall out after only 1.5 weeks. Until I stopped going and all of them fell out, I realized they made my REAL permanent lashes fall out as well! I am left with even shorter lashes than before the extensions. They are so bad for your lashes, and I haven't been back since. It's been at least 7 months since and my lashes are still not as long as they should be... *******DO NOT GET EYELASH EXTENSIONS!****** This is my very first Yelp posting and I feel inclined to go out of my way to write this because I wish someone had offered me these pearls of wisdom before I tried this out and I want others know what they're getting themselves into. The first two or three times you get lash extensions, you will feel like a completely different person... you'll be inundated with compliments (even the checkout girl at the grocery store noticed!), a lot of people will say that something is "different" about you but might not be able to pinpoint it (the ultimate compliment, of course) and you will wonder why you didn't discover this magical treatment earlier in life. But after you go four or five times, you'll discover the ugly truth - - IT STUNTS THE GROWTH OF YOUR EYELASHES. Your eyelashes are so incredibly delicate that even though the eyelash extensions feel undetectable to you, your body knows better. I had to see a dermatologist because I barely had any eyelashes left and was scared that I had permanently damaged them. (On a side note, my friends began calling me "chemo" - - it was THAT bad.) And I'm not the only one who experienced this... another friend stopped going because she realized her eyelashes weren't growing back, either, and didn't want to risk permanent damage. Trust me on this. The few weeks of looking bright-eyed is not worth the months of waiting (and hoping) for your eyelashes to grow back. Though I'm thankful mine have slowwwwwly started growing back and weren't permanently damaged, I would strongly advise you NOT to take that risk. Mine STILL aren't back to normal and it's been at least 4 months since I stopped going... :( A few other things to note: they claim your lashes can last up to 2 months if you take care of them properly - - COMPLETELY false. I never got them wet (I went so far as to use goggles when I showered) and 90% of them always fell off after 1.5/two weeks. Sly marketing ploy to lure you in but don't fall for this false advertising. Also, if for some reason you decide against your better judgment to go in and try this out, take a look around at all the workers there. NONE of them have eyelash extensions. I feel like such a fool in retrospect because I remember asking the owner the very first time I went in why no one had them on if they were so amazing and she said, "Oh, we're just so busy, we don't have time." My gut feeling was telling me that something was fishy... they're obviously quite privy to the long-term side effects! Learn from my mistake! You may think your natural eyelashes suck but what would suck even more is having none at all or permanently damaging the natural growth that you do have! I have become an eyelash fiend. What a huge difference it makes after getting faux lashes. Gorgeous. I would say I have been a long time customer, and after each appt the prices always differ. Although I never return exactly 2 wks later - but that's not the point - I have been charged from $50 - $70 when returning a couple days (no more than a wk) after the suggested 2 wks maintenance time -_- At this establishment they only accept cash, tax you, and ask for tip. [Or in my friend's case "more" tip. A friend whom I referred to get lashes was uncomfortably bullied into giving more tip, it was an awkward moment where she gave in eventhough she tipped a reasonable amount, shortly after, she was fuming about how the lady had the audacity to even suggest something so out of line.] But hey, they have a mexican massaging your tired feet for about 5 mins - don't forget to tip her too!! =p Overall, is it worth it? Yes. The other salons ain't got nothing on Ebenezer. One time I had used my very much needed last $100 on a new set of lashes. My friend in NY booked me an appointment here for fun to get eyelash extensions because they're "fun!" Plus, I figured the price of $90 was relatively affordable compared to the high end prices of $300+ extensions. They moved store locations so it took me a while to find this place (To make it worse, I'm not from NY!) the lady at the front desk kept yelling at me telling me the street name over and over again (as if I even know where the location is!) They're pretty anal about making sure you're on time for your appointment. The front desk lady even calls people and leaves voicemails asking them "where are you???" I found that to be a bit creepy, but I guess it makes sense since they are busy... First, this place is packed with Caucasians and African Americans. I would have thought it would be Asians since it's run by Koreans, but the secret's out! You'll never know who's got real ones or false ones... They take your coat and bag, make you lay down, put a blanket over you and then ask you what length you want. Being a newbie, I asked for her suggestion and she gave me medium lashes. Then she puts tape under your eyes. (Remove all eye make up before you go here!) and you have to close your eyes for an hour. You'll start to feel them picking up the falsies on your forehead and feel them attaching them with glue to your real lashes. Then in the middle of the whole process, someone starts massaging your feet and legs. (I was a little uncomfortable since I didn't expect this, but it was nice) I'm pretty sure I fell asleep since the person doing my lashes had to turn my head straight several times (haha) I could have sworn that a man was doing my lashes in the middle of the process, because I had asked a question about how long the lashes last and a low manly voice said "as long as you want it to.." I thought that was a little creepy, because it sure as heck wasn't the girl that I was previously talking to! Anyways my lashes look pretty natural! I had been a loyal customer here for years then decided to take a break for a year to let my natural lashes grow back. Upon returning twice, I will never be back. My first visit was fine but I noticed even though I asked for cat eye style extentions (where the lashes progressively get longer towards the corner of your eyes) the woman only switched what type of length she was using three times. In prior visits my technician switched at least 5 or 6 times. They looked fine when I left, so I wasn't too concerned. I followed their directions, that I know well. . . Not getting them wet for 24 hours, no steam whatsoever , no makeup, etc., yet within 5 days a third of my lashes had fallen off! Also, many were sticking out in crazy directions that even with gentle combing, I couldn't get right. I ended up plucking them and realizing what the issue was. They cut corners and instead of using longer lashes towards the corner of my eye, they just glued them halfway out on my natural lash! No wonder they wouldn't stay aligned. My second visit I informed them I was unhappy and explained my issue and they assured me it would be fixed. I gave them benefit of the doubt and thought maybe my other technician was new and made a mistake. Surprise, surprise, days later I had the same issue with them prematurely falling off AND yet again, upon closer inspection they did the exact same thing they had before by not properly gluing the lash where it belonged. Yes, they may be inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. Sadly, it's no longer what it use to be. There are plenty more options in the city now then there were years ago, so I'll happily take my business where I'm not basically throwing my money away. Check the reviews under the section that are not recommended. They are all one stars that have been hidden saying exactly what I have been. I feel many of these 4 and 5 star reviews are from newer clients that don't really know any better. THE WORST. Ok.. this is sort of a long story, so bear with me. First of all I made an appointment for Sunday, June 13th at noon for me and my sister who is getting married & in from out of town.. I express my dislike for the lashes, and the manager guy just shrugs his shoulders and is like well.. tough shit. The manager BULLIES me to leave, even tho I am SOOOOO UNHAPPY and as I'm paying (and tearing up under my sunglasses) he shows the minutest bit of human decency and says if I don't like them tomorrow, they'll remove them for me for free. Not sure if all extension places cut the customer's own lashes but it was never mentioned before hand. I've gotten extensions here a handful of times and have loved them. Aside from the sketchy entrance to the place, I have no complaints. They are quick and my lashes stay on for at least a good 3 to 4 weeks, even though they recommend coming back in 2 for a fill. Making an appointment was extremely easy - Ebenezer had very flexible schedules and walked me through exactly what I needed to do in preparation for my appointment (this was my first time getting extensions so as you imagine I had a lot of questions.) There was absolutely no wait time as I arrived for my appointment! The receptionists were so pleasant. Even though I had a little bit of trouble communicating with my technician she was really patient with me and did an amazing job. The icing on the cake was that there was no discrepancy in the pricing of services. On my way out they gave me a full sheet of directions for maintaining my lashes as well as pricing by weeks since last appointment. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Ebenezer charged by the weeks since your last appointment, which is so helpful for me as I was wondering when I should return for my touch up. Not satisfied. I just got eyelashes extensions done 3 days ago and at least one third to half of them are already gone. It was really poor & rush job. (I wish I can attach pics. I took pic of first day and today) And the owner was very rude. I asked her that if it's normal to lose many eyelashes in few days and she said it's my fault that my original eyelashes are in bad condition. hahaha. With a 2 week vacation in the sun coming up I wanted to be makeup free but with beautiful full lashes. I've never had them done before but people always tell me how addictive it is. After checking out reviews on yelp, I called Ebenezer to see if they had a immediate booking and just my luck they had an opening at 4pm. It's very close to the Empire State Building and closer to 5th ave. when I got there the ladies at the desk were very friendly and the office has framed business, newspaper & TV accolades. I filled out a form with does and don'ts of maintenance and allergy warnings. I waited less than 10mins and was in the care of Heidi for one hour. She had such a gentle touch and I also got a great complimentary foot massage. I got a full mix lashes with a special mascara to make them look fuller. I didn't feel any sensitivity which is great. Now, the only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because I don't have anyone else to compare to them. My natural lashes are short so right now they look double the length which is going to take a while to get used to. In future I would get much closer to my length for a more natural look. I'll be in a place where no one knows me so I'm not too bothered. I received a print of instructions of care and a free gift of body lotion. It was difficult choosing a star rating for my experience here but I had to give this location 3 stars. I am a normal ebenezed client but I usually do business with the other location on 35th. However they booked pretty fast so I was forced to make an appt at this location. While the technician was nice, I could have done without the receptionist. The work area is tons smaller than that of the other location, more dirty and dusty and there was paint chipping from the ceiling AND the AC hardly worked. I will never set foot in this location again. But my lashes look OK. I usually get a mix of 11-13 but it looks like they only used one length - maybe my fault but they never ask at the other location. The mAssage here could have been a bit more robust as the one performing only used one hand with very little to no pressure. *sigh* read more

This would be my first time going to Ebenezer on 32nd Street location and was very excited for the appt. I had scheduled the appointment about 3 days ago to come in today at noon, but cancelled right on the spot. The reason for my cancellation was because I felt the receptionist spoke to me with her "I'M ANNOYED" tone of voice when I tried to reschedule for a different time. I went to their 35th street location and loved it. This was my first time ever having extensions done. I was a bit nervous, after all, they are touching your eyes. The ladies helped me pick out a length that would be slightly dramatic, but not over the top. I took off my shoes, lied on the table and was covered with a warm blanket. The only minor uncomfortable part was the taping of the lower eye lid, no pain involved, just a bit irritating, but that feeling stopped after about 15 min in. This place is horrible. So horrible that I decided to use my first review on Yelp to criticize this place. I had my eyelash extension around 1 month ago for 90 dollars plus 20% tip. The service was ok, but the work was horrible. They applied two or more eyelash extensions onto one single natural lash. And everyone knows that this will over-burden your own natural lash. I only found out the second day, when 6 of my natural lashes fall off. I am deeply concerned about the health of my natural lashes. By now, over 30 pieces of my natural lashes had fallen out. I looked at my eyes this morning in the mirror, all my natural lashes are looking fragile, dry, unhealthy or broken. I got actual gaps between natural eyelashes and this has never happened before. THEIR DREADFUL EXTENSION KILLED MY NATURAL LASHES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Every other eyelash extension place in NYC have stopped applying two or more extensions to a single natural lash for the fuller effect. I always wondered why the name of this establishment was "Ebenezer." Regardless, they do an amazing job on eyelash extensions. I became addicted several years ago so go every month to have my lashes beautified and volumnized. I particularly find these lashes useful before I am going on vacation as they give my eyes a beautiful highlight and I don't need to wear much makeup. A tip is, If you have a special occasion like a wedding or event, ask for extra thick lashes for a more dramatic look. A bonus is that there is a complimentary foot massage with your eyelash treatment. If the masseuse is good, I tip them. If the masseuse is great, I ask for additional time and they will charge you for the service. Oh, and don't forget its only cash only! They are absolutely the best! Their prices can't be beat, less than $100 the first time I think like $95 and then about $50 for fill ins each additional time! the people are so nice there and each time I've gone, I've gotten a foot massage and fallen ASLEEP under a blanket while they do my eyelashes..they are also QUICK! they do both eyes in about an hour. it's really amazing. you really have to go there! definitely make an appointment though! walking in I don't think is a good idea! I HIGHLY recommend you try them. they were a LITTLE hard to find the first time as they're upstairs from a little asian resturaunt but I found them! They even offer a foot massage while you get your lashes done for a small charge. Love my lashes every time I leave. Make sure to tell them exactly what you want! Ok, it's the Holidays, the economy is tanking, and I was trying to save money, so I had been coming to this place since the middle of summer. It's cheap compared to Pierre Michel. Now for the scary part. Maybe they have gotten busier because the word has gotten out, but as a result service and hygiene of the place is horrible. I came there to maintain my lashes (I get them done every 3-4 weeks) and something about the tape they used on my eyes was not right. i felt a mild stinging burn in my left eye. You aren't supposed to talk or open your eyes during the process, but I had stated that I was feeling mild pain in my eye. The woman who was doing my eyes (there are a couple-they switch at times) was more concerned about finishing the job and politely tried to continue. Now I was a little pissed and about to have a panic attack and motioned with my hands to stop. The Korean woman who spoke the most English in the joint was nice enough to tell the woman to stop, and they got me a glass of water. They fixed the tape over my eyes, and finished up as quickly as possible. The pain ceased- the fumes from the glue dissipated I guess, so with mild soreness my lashes were done. The woman at the front stamped my frequent User Card 3 Times!!! A few days later I came down with the worst case of Pinkeye aka Bacterial Conjunctivitis that I had ever contracted in my life. So unfortunately I can't say that I'll return to this place, it's gotten so dirty since last summer. And I have learned my lesson, cutting corners to maintain my beauty routine just isn't worth it. read more

As with anywhere service oriented, my experience with Ebenezer had more to do with the technician who serviced me (name unknown) than the establishment, since my gfs love the place and swear by it. My first time at Ebenezer ended up with a tug of war on the very sticky tape underneath my eyes (this is where your skin is most delicate) - I was washing off the glue from the tape for two days; the technician poking my inner eyelids repetitively with her pointy tweezers; the side of my head aching from being tilted at a specific angle for an hour and a half. The technician recommended "natural" lashes for an eyelash extension virgin like me, which I regretted. The extensions pointed straight out instead of being curled up (which would open up the eyes) and nobody could tell that my lashes were different by looking at my face directly, although they could see the length from my profile (but who really cares about one's profile?). Taking care of these lashes are a pain. You can't wash your face for 24 hours after the lashes are in, so the glue and color sets; you can't use cream or oil based cleansers, which I love, and have to gingerly wash and towel around your eyes. If you want to get the most longevity from the lashes, you can't fully turn your face into the shower either, or go to the steam room. The lashes clump together and you have to carefully comb them apart, and if your eye itches or there are tears, the drops get trapped in the lashes and you have to swab the drops out. I probably would have loved the lashes if they were thicker, but right now I can't wait for them to fall out already. read more
