We have experimented with tons of color over the last 12 months. I am a brunette and unfortunately have lots of gray to cover. My base color is always spot on and he always come up with different highlights to sprinkle in to make things fun!! I'm always afraid of the blonde side of things, so he goes for the warm colors that work perfectly. I took a leap and decided to chop the back of my hair off at the end of last year. He suggested a style that kept the front longer than the back and I couldn't have loved it more! I've started growing it back out and plan on ordering a Halo from them within the next few months. My color is flawless and line free...a perfect transition/melting of colors! I found Yelp reviews on Donny and pictures of his hair designs, when he worked at Xander Blue Salon in Winter Park. After being told he no longer works there, I decided to do a Google search and found his Facebook page Hair by Donny Dinh where I was please to find his phone number and that he is now at Rock Gorgeous Hair. Donny is honest, sweet, sincere and EXTREMELY meticulous, so if you need color correction, cut or styling he is the one to see!! For color correction, expect to be there a few hours...I was there almost 7 hours and it was worth every minute. If you have a time constraint tell him upfront and he will give you an estimate but remember it's NOT his fault if it takes a long time to creat a custom color or correct the screw up you have on your head! What to expect: A stylist passionate about his work and pleasing his guests. Very limited parking is available in the back of the salon, expect to look for parking in the street or pay $5 at a nearby lot. Salon is small and not the most modern I've seen, but very clean which is more important than decor! Donny will do a VERY detailed consultation to get to know you and what you are looking for. Bring pictures so he has something to see...what you describe may not be what he imagines. This is the time to speak up about your wants, likes or dislikes. Cost for color correction will be on the high side but expect to pay less on additional visits. Buy a GOOD quality color protecting shampoo. Sorry the ones sold at Walmart probably don't fall in this category. I love Bumble & Bumble! Thank you Donny...your hard work paid off and my hair is proof of that!!! Jessica listened to my objectives and described a shorter haircut that would be perfect for me for the Florida summer. She used a razor to remove the weight of my hair but kept a similar style. She walked me through the process and explained everything in detail to make sure it was what I was looking for. I found out Jessica just taught her first class (on shags) and I can see why Phillip has such high confidence in her abilities. I booked an appointment at the beginning of the week for a curly cut. When booking, there was only…read moreone option for the stylist followed by a quick survey that asked for pictures of my current hair and desired cut. I was sure to fill this out immediately. When I arrived to the salon (again, DAYS after booking the appt), I was asked to wait to meet my stylist. I was brought back to her chair where she asked me to describe what I'd like. She proceeded to say that she did not feel comfortable cutting my hair type. While I am grateful that she did not jump in while unsure, I did find it pretty upsetting that the stylist and the salon chose to handle this embarrassing situation in front of other clients rather than calling me beforehand or even speaking with me at the front of the salon. Likewise, I have a difficult time understanding the purpose of submitting pictures in advance (which the stylist stated she saw), but then waiting until after I have driven to the salon to discuss. J. Bauman was actually in the salon while this was happening and offered no reassurance or alternative. He sat on his phone in the front of the salon while the stylist told me how "awkward" the situation was. The best that they could provide was asking me to come in a different day (mind you this haircut was for my graduation the next day.) If you have textured, curly hair, I'd be extremely wary of booking with the curly cut stylist and this salon in general. I found that EDUCE down the road was a similar price point with a much more understanding and qualified staff.
