I very much enjoyed date night at Eberly. The interior is gorgeous and so unexpected. We ordered the charcuterie to share and loved it; then ordered the mushroom pasta that was to die for. We came here for a special occasion, and I will say the service side of things was fantastic for that. We were given a card signed by the entire staff (and printed with today's date so we knew it hadn't just been pulled from a stack) and two free glasses of champagne that we could tell was nice quality. At the end of the meal, they also brought out two small plates of dessert on the house, and it was delicious! Tasted sort of like an apple crisp, and really beautifully plated. I'm kicking myself for not having taken a picture of it. I also really have to compliment our waiter, who said he had some level of sommelier training and had contributed to the wine list. He pointed us to a bottle of 2016 "Sucette," a grenache from "An Approach to Relaxation," a small vineyard in Australia. I'd never had a pure grenache and had never been a fan of GSM blends, but this bottle was absolutely lovely. It's hard to find online, and I love it when I can get a bottle at a restaurant that I can't just pick up at my local liqueur store...makes it more worth the mark-up. So, service was five stars, all the way. Really nice. The letdown was the food. First, they were out of the short rib. Guys...this was a special occasion, and I came all the way from Dallas for the short rib. Don't do me like that! I mean...the thought of walking out honestly crossed my mind. Instead, I took the waiter's suggestion and ordered the halibut. It was...fine. No short rib. We also shared the Wagyu sirlion, which honestly wasn't all that remarkable either. For sides, we did the asparagus (very nice) and the shells & cheese (also nice). Oh, and we started with the octopus, which also was nicely prepared. And then, yeah, heck, we went for it and ordered a full dessert in addition to the free mini desserts they gave us. The Chocolate Bar was...eh. Chocolatey? Nothing memorable, really. At the end of the day, our bill was as sky-high as you might expect with a bottle of nice wine, two entrees (one being Wagyu steak), two sides, and a dessert. However, we both left feeling as though the food really hadn't lived up to the cost. We agreed that if we were going to drop that much money on a meal, we would have much rather gone next door to Uchi...and that's just not a great feeling. I really do have to compliment the staff and their phenomenal attention to our special occasion. They earned those three stars all on their own. I was blown away by this place! My friend and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The service was incredible- they gave me a handwritten card signed by the staff, as well as a little birthday treat. The hostess was so kind to even take pictures of us. Plus, free valet parking! The FOOD though- incredible and amazing. Portion sizes are large, and it is definitely worth your money. We got the chickpea fritter- which was my favorite. Delicate, with an aerated cheese sauce- SO GOOD. The tempura mushrooms were amazing (and i don't even like mushrooms), and the japanese bread rolls were incredibly soft and fluffy, salty and sweet. THE main dishes - especially the spaghettini with lobster was INCREDIBLE. And don't even get me started on dessert - mango chocolate and coconut mouse, this was unlike anything I've tried before. Our server was attentive and right on time whenever we needed him and was kind enough to explain what the best dishes are for me as I (try to be) dairy free. Hands down best eating experience we have had. Food was amazing, breathtaking, delinquent even. It was girlfriends birthday and wanted to take her someplace nice. One the reservation I put "celebrating girlfriends birthday" when we arrived they told her "Happy Birthday" and presented her a card with everyones signature on it. Was a nice tough and nice to see they actually looked at the notes I had provided. We started with the Japanese Milk Rolls, amazing, smooth, by far the best testing rolls we had ever had. I must, if you want something light and a good starter if you and your partner are debating on what to get. For our entrees we shared the 72 hour short rib bossam and the Rigatoni Arrabbiata. I honestly have never tasted anything as magical as that short rib. If you go, even though it is pricy, get the Short Rib, you wount regret it. Honestly, as soon as it hit my mouth, I was blown away. I dont know how but that will be the best meal I have ever had. Finished the night off with vanilla crème brûlée and complementary birthday cake with sobert. My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night for a nice dinner. Words cannot describe how wonderful our meal was. First, the service was fantastic. Our server was very friendly and offered great suggestions as we chose our drinks and food. He was also very attentive to our needs. For our drinks, we had the Scarlet Town, Highway 61, and Nick the Lounge Singer. The Highway 61 and Nick the Lounge Singer were delicious but we weren't the biggest fan of the Scarlet Town. The flavors didn't meld quite as well as the the other two drinks. For our appetizers, we went with the Japanese Milk Rolls and Grilled Octopus. The rolls were crispy on the outside while being soft and delicate on the inside. The caramelized onion butter paired nicely with the rolls. The Grilled Octopus was absolutely out of this world. It was SO tender, I almost didn't think it was octopus. The flavors that joined with it came together so nicely. For our entrees, we had the Uni Spaghettini and Striped Bass. The Striped Bass was light while being flavorful. The Uni Spaghettini was amazing. The dish was not only beautiful but had so many flavors that joined fantastically. The seaweed escabeche was a totally new flavor experience for us. Finally, we got one scoop of each sorbet: peach sangria and cherry mezcal. The peach sangria sorbet was light in texture and bright in flavor. It is a perfect summer dessert. The cherry mezcal sorbet was creamier, almost like ice cream. It also had a slight saltiness to it, almost like it had tajin in it. Sounds like it would be strange but it really came together. Another colleague got us a reservation at the bar here since she knew someone. We wanted to avoid a steakhouse and BBQ place since we did that all week. Beet salad - I'm not much of a salad person, but I'd rate this in my top 3 or 5 salads. I love nuts in my salad and need subtleness in taste. The dressing was interesting as well, more like a chutney. Chickpea fritter - I love anything chickpea based. This was also a unique dish. I've not had anything like this. The best way to describe this would be a cross between a chickpea hash brown and a cutlet. Short rib - A testament to how much I liked this would be the state of my plate once I finished it. Full disclosure, after reading two reviews over large parties that weren't great I was a little nervous about our experience, but it was AMAZING! From the second we walked in until the minute we left! There were 12 of us, we were seated promptly, our server was SUPER attentive, we toured the speak easy, were explained the history of the bar, which is beautiful and was able to see the event space after mentioning seeing it online. My fiancé and I been scoping out locations for our rehearsal dinner. I came across this spot on Yelp which caught my eye because of the event space. Specifically their study which gives off elegant greenhouse vibes. So after touring their space, we decided to have dinner there to see if it was a good fit. For an appetizer, we ordered the sangria salad and the tuna tartare. Our waiter recommended the tuna tartare, and I'm so glad he did because it was our favorite dish. The tuna was very fresh and it was well balanced with the creaminess from the crème fraîche and the acidity from the kimchi. The salad wasn't bad. For our main course we ordered the mafaldine with scallops and the short rid bossam. The mafaldine was perfectly Al denté and I loved the Thai-Italian fusion. The short rib was good, but the shape of the meat was hard to wrap and the lettuce was awkward. Perilla would be a cool alternative to lettuce that's way easier to wrap and tastier. We got Brussel sprouts as a side and they were super unique. I never would've thought papaya and ginger would go well with Brussels, but they totally do. For dessert, we ordered a Sacher torte. It was completely different than the ones we tried in Austria, but honestly better (less dense, fruitier, richer). The cocktails were 10/10. Pros: Super creative and fun combinations of food. Complimentary valet. Our waiter was awesome and came with great recommendations. Cons: Short rib was hard to eat lettuce wrap style. The dishes are very fusion-y, so you might not get what you expected. But you might be pleasantly surprised. But limited options if you want something simple. Other notes: wear a cute outfit. We come here every year before ACL because it's a great spot to walk to the festival from after lunch. That being said, if I lived closer I'd definitely come more! The food is fabulous (sometimes a little pricey though) for brunch and lunch (haven't been for dinner) and the restaurant is so so beautiful. The crudo was fresh and vibrant, the rolls were warm and perfectly salty. I saw a few comments that the rolls were dry but that was not our experience. We were tempted to order a second round. For entrees, we ordered the Mafaldine pasta and short rib. The pasta was al dente and delicious, loved the meatiness the oyster mushrooms added. This was a great vegetarian dish. The short ribs melted in your mouth. The only subpar item were the NA drinks. The Clover Club did not have much flavor and the coffee was watered down. The Rye-Al and Espresso Martini were both very good. For dessert we had to get the sticky toffee pudding. It was incredible! The staff also brought a complementary flan as a birthday surprise which was very thoughtful. The ambiance was great, with dim lighting to set the mood for a relaxed evening. In fact, I found the price point of Eberly to be lower than other restaurants in the same upscale category. I am confident that any dish on their menu will be a hit, so order to your hearts desire. The Japanese milk bread with onion butter - 9/10. This was tasty, fluffy and addicting. The bread was ever so slightly dry, and the butter was too salty for my taste. Tuna tartare - 10/10. YUM. I could eat a whole bowl of this deliciously dressed dish of fresh salmon. There were other elements like fresh apples and micro greens that ultimately elevated this dish. Short rib - 9/10. I was honestly kinda full at this point. The short rib came in a hearty portion and was really tasty, but a bit dry. Drinks: would fully recommend a tiki drink - they are STRONG but in a sneaky tasty way. The interior and patio/exterior seating areas are all extremely beautiful and well lit. Arrived for an early dinner for two on a Friday and thankfully there were many options for available seating. We opted to go the route of ordering multiple starters as opposed to any entrees, as they appeared far more interesting. I would say our favorite dish was the beef tartare. The bone marrow added far more decadence to the dish and complimented the dressing that accompanied the beef. The kanpachi crudo was also very flavorful, with far more complexity than either of us had expected for a non meat based dish. I personally was not a huge fan of the octopus, but to give them credit i personally think it isn't a very flavorful dish in general, but we thought it was worth a try. The crema did help I will say. Service was fairly prompt. Cocktails came out fast after order and we did not have any issues getting our servers attention to order an additional dish. If you're looking for ambience then this is your place. There are several dining rooms and bars and each are equally beautiful. The tartare is fine- it's not what you'd expect because there is a smoked eggplant element. It's tasty but strange. The milk bread and butter is the best dish of the night. I still dream of those flavors. We had pastas between myself, my partner, and my daughter. I had a pasta with truffle. Was expecting shaved truffles but it was grated. Weirdly zero truffle flavor. Very disappointing! We had a dessert since it was my birthday but it was just okay. They did put a candle so if you're looking for something special then they do it! The ambience and service was great for sure (decided to eat here just because of how cute it was), but that's about it. It's also pretty hard to get seated at the cute sunroom that you see in pictures. I was so, so disappointed by the food. I ordered the whitefish salad ($16!!) and the dish that came out was legitimately 4 pieces of lettuce and a ball of flavorless fish paste. The cocktails were so-so and the rest of the menu items were similarly overpriced and leaves you hungry even after the meal. The best bang for your buck on their brunch menu is the burger and fries. Even then, it's nothing spectacular. I hate leaving bad reviews for places that just opened up, but my brunch experience here left me pretty frustrated. Soak it in the mussels and it's really good. Then we had the potato leek croquettes. These were pretty good. Nice and soft inside but all of these were really good appetizers. I had the short ribs and it was really good. Very tender. Very well cooked and so good. We also got the sides of crushed potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, and asparagus. All three were very good. Loved the potatoes. Little crispy but soft and good. Brussel Sprouts and asparagus and really good too. Spot on and really good. My wife got the salmon and she was really happy with this. I got a bite and it was cooked perfectly. Very moist. So good. Our server was pretty good. She kept our water glasses always filled even when they provide a bottle of water on the table. So overall, great food and loved everything about this meal from the appetizers, entree, and sides. Very filling for us. Very fresh food. Really good service and yet the ambiance was intimate but little loud. We had a really good meal and enjoyed it very much.
