Stayed in Tallahassee and was crazing some street tacos. I ordered 3 tacos for 6 dollars and a bottle of water . I ordered 2 pastor and 1 asada. They had a wide variety of condiments to put on top for you. And they also had a taco salsa bar. I enjoyed their avocado sauce. Made mine a little too wet where I had to finish with a fork. I was wanting 1-2 more tacos but I didn't see where they sold Ala carte I will definitely stop here again when in Talahassee. Parking is shared by Mc Donald's. Kinda tight. read more

Echalee was one of those places I always drove by, but never really craved Mexican food enough to actually go out of my way and get it. When I started dating my boyfriend he insisted I gave it a try and I am SO happy he did. Now I crave Echalee all the time and probably go there with my bf about once a week. At first glance it seems like a little hole in the wall taco shop, but their food is authentic and tastes amazing. It's set up similar to a chipotle with similar menu items and ingredients (more options though). My favorite thing to get is the quesadilla. You pick what ever ingredients you want to go in it and then they grill it up. Plus there's free chips and a salsa bar! The prices are very reasonable (around $5-$7) and the portions sizes are usually pretty large ( I say usually because a couple of times I've gone they were a little stingy with the amount of each topping they give you) I suggest that anyone who enjoys Mexican should give this local business a try! read more

Probably my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Tallahassee! We had an amazing server Erismo (hope I spelled it right) who gave us a very personalized experience in addition to great recommendations. We love to drinking beer from around the world and we're introduced to Tecate, a great beer full of flavor. Erismo added a salted lime for flavor and we were thoroughly impressed. The salsa was pretty generic but the house hot sauces which accompanied it were very good. The mixed chimichanga had great flavor and the street tacos were pretty good, with the carnitas being the best! We'll be back! Thank you for an authentic experience. read more

Mexican food is probably my favorite type of food, which works out perfect for me because Tallahassee has tons of options! With the abundance of options it took me a while to make my way over to Echalee, but I am glad that I did! Echalee has a similar fast Mexican food feel like Chipotle or Moe's. You pick what you want: burrito, taco, nachos, ect and then go down a line choosing your meat, veggies, toppings, and sauces. They have some unique options like potatoes, grilled peppers, and some other stuff that you wouldn't find at other fast food Mexican restaurants. I got a meal that included four tacos and chips. The choices of meats is great, and the ones that I tried were delicious. It is hard to choose which I liked the best between the al pastor, chicken, and carnitas. All were flavored and cooked well. I loaded my tacos up with just about every topping offered, and ended up with massive, overflowing tacos. They were soo flavorful and good though! Luckily I had someone to help me finish them, because I was stuffed after just two. Overall, great Mexican fast food restaurant. I think 9/10 times I would choose Echalee over some of the competing chains. Sometimes I do crave the chains though, guilty. read more

Extremely disappointed during our visit Saturday night. We haven't been in a while due to prior visits going downhill, so we decided to give them another try BIG mistake!! Service was very slow and every waitress or waiter was new and they knew nothing. I totally understand times are different but come on. We got a double order of mixed fajitas and the portion size really shrunk. The veggies were non-existent and to top it all off the chicken, steak and veggies were overdone. Really, really, REALLY good Mexican fast-food operation that I certainly prefer to Moe's (not bad at all, incidentally) or Chipotle (never ONCE have I been satisfied there). Sauce station rivals Moe's - and Jarritos are served here. The place smacks of Mexican ownership which I take to mean "greater sense of what authenticity could play best with a gringo-ish patronage" Wife claims her salad was much better than what she'd get at the other two places. The tacos weren't bad at all, but it looks like this place is lacking business. They don't serve the tacos as it should be: DOUBLE TORTILLA, don't be cheap. They serve the taco in ONE tortilla, by the time you take it to your mouth, all the filling is back in your plate.....then you are eating a "revoltillo" de tortilla with the meat of your choice. We discovered this gem several years ago and have been enjoying weekly visits ever since. Their authentic Mexican style tacos are some of the best in town! They've also started making authentic arepas on Wednesday nights which are out of this world delicious! They also provide catering and I've never had so compliments on food at a party, ever! Our party of six had most disastrous dinner last night. Three meals came out right after a long wait, three came out entirely wrong. The kitchen provided chicken when beef was ordered, beef to a vegetarian, and burritos to someone who ordered enchiladas. (The waiter was incredibly indifferent to the problem, never delivered hot sauce which was requested, and never checked on chips even though he left three people without any food for half an hour.) The first three of us ate. It was 20 minutes before two two more meals came out: one of them was wrong again. The kitchen entirely forgot the third meal. The third meal came out after another 10 minutes. Meanwhile half of the table had finished eating a half an hour ago. I ordered carnitas (fried pork), and it was like eating stones: tasteless, brittle, and exceedingly dry. A glass of beer was $10. When I commented on that high price upon receiving the bill, the server said that we could have had a second one, that they were charging two-for-one. This was never mentioned during the meal, so it really means they charge you full price for two beers even if you have one. There's nothing two-for-one about it. The food, the beverages, the service, and the prices were all so bad that I'm just never going back. read more

This business is now where Mama Goldberg's used to be. We were greeted at the door, and we ordered. It is a similar setup to Chipotle, but the taste is much different. Echalee's tastes more authentic and homemade. We tried the chicken quesadillas and had the option between seasoned/ marinated chicken or a more simpler chicken which was nice. Two types or rice and beans as well. The cheese on the quesadillas is delicious and plentiful, and later they slightly press the quesadillas and toast them so the cheese is melted. The ingredients tasted fresh. Both the tortillas and the chips were very good! They offer Tamarind, Horchata, and Jamaica juices which as authentic Mexican drinks!! The decor is simple, with authentic signs in Spanish of famous brands. As we were leaving they thanked us and said goodbye. Overall, I liked it! I think it's a great lunch spot and the customer service is nice. They seem proud of their product and how they always have fresh ingredients. read more

Exhale has fantastic food! They used to be located on Tennessee street at a location that is notoriously bad for restaurants. Needless to say, I'm very happy that they changed locations and are now a sit down restaurant. Their lunch specials are VERY affordable and generously portioned. I travel all over the United States of America, and I found this little gem of a restaurant!! I definitely recommend patronizing this restaurant!! The food was so delicious with every bite you take there was a different flavor! And as for the staff, they made me feel like I was at home. The server was extremely rude, giving me attitude when I didn't hear her ask what type of tortilla I wanted......seriously? If she was wearing a name tag I would call her out in a second but unfortunately she was not. I also asked for guac and she gave me basically half a teaspoon... So stingy.
