The last couple of times from other stylists my ends have looked choppy, and I have to curl it inward to hide it. I communicated my concern to Christy, who asked me lots of questions, took her time, and even gave me some advice on some hair products I was using. The most memorable moment was when she asked me to stand up from my chair toward the end so that she could check her work to make sure that my ends were even. I've never had that kind of attention toward what I feel is a pretty basic, boring haircut (which is exactly what I wanted). I will definitely be going back to Christy when I need a haircut next!

There was no indication that they were closed or that the hours were different from what was posted. We wasted our time and gas making two separate trips for nothing. If your posted hours aren't accurate or you're only open by appointment, that needs to be clearly communicated so customers don't waste their time driving over. After this happening twice, I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here without calling first.

Kenneth messaged me quickly and was very up front about what he could offer and for what price. Rooted is in the Folsom hills and right in the downtown area along Lake Natoma and the American River. Every time I venture out Folsom way there is something new to see, but this little area still has the same "feel" as when I was a kid - Cute, Quaint, Small-Town. Since they have only been in this location a few months they don't have signage up yet but you can't miss it, it's a darling little cottage with a red stone brick path leading to inviting walk up and entry. I felt comfortable right away. Kenneth was up front ringing out another client but made sure to greet me as soon as I entered, which says a lot in my book. He showed me to his room, which was super cozy; the salon chair was comfy; LOVED the wash station, Kenneth was awesome; very personable, we chatted it up while he washed, did a deep conditioning treatment, (can I get that hair drier to go pls?) lol, Brazilian blow out and some touch up with the flat iron so I could get home to flat iron the rest (I do that myself). Even without the flat iron it looked fantastic! My hair felt super clean and well hydrated, not dried out at ALL. When I got home to finish the flat iron it was nice n soft n felt fabulous. Loved it! One side is approximately an inch and a half longer than the other, and the two sides are styled and cut completely differently. One flips out and has noticeable bulk and length, while the other sits flatter and shorter. This is not a subtle difference. Even photos make it obvious, and multiple people -- including an AI image review tool -- immediately noticed the imbalance without being prompted. That says a lot. What makes this more frustrating is that I mentioned during the appointment that I live in a remote area where it's hard to get haircuts or corrections, so this isn't something easy for me to fix quickly. I'm not sure how I will fix this before I go to work on Monday. It is much worse than my self cut I requested to be fixed. When hair isn't styled before a client leaves, it can be difficult to catch major inconsistencies in the cut right away. I genuinely did not realize how uneven it was until later when I was back at my hotel and able to look at it more carefully myself. I also want to add that comments or conversations about clients as they are walking out the door can make people feel extremely uncomfortable and self-conscious, especially when they later realize there was a major problem with the service they received. I understand mistakes happen, but this haircut feels careless and inconsistent, and the unevenness absolutely should have been caught before I left the salon. And it's frustrating to pay that much you have to go pay again to get this fixed

After my hair appointment on 5/28, I just now received at least some sort of compensation on 8/19. (2 and a half months later, after weeks of trying to get a response from her by having to repeat multiple messages about my concerns and seeking resolution but not receiving communication back in a timely manner if at all). The way she handled this situation reflects extremely poorly on Rarity Salon, and makes the standard of customer care at this salon questionable. As her client who got a service done from her, I don't feel I received the level of customer service I should've on top of her making it extremely difficult to communicate and get a response from her, especially for what I paid which was $340 for little to no visible change, my roots not being done, and patchy/uneven areas. I had previously got my hair done by Molly in January and was content with my experience so I returned on 5/28 for a hair color change. After showing pictures and discussing what I wanted , Molly told me this was achievable with a bleach wash (over Instagram dm messages which I have). However at the end of the appointment my hair color clearly did not change much and after paying, Molly told me how we may need multiple sessions to get the color I wanted and gave me her phone number to communicate with her. A couple of days later after trying to see if the color settled differently, I sent her a text about my concerns of there being little to no change to the color of my hair, but also my roots still being the same as if they weren't done, and some patchy areas. I sent this message with pictures of my hair to show her on 6/2 and I didn't get a response back until 6/22. I also sent messages about following up in between that time. In her reply on 6/22 she mentioned how this message "got lost" in her text thread, and that we can work on getting the color I wanted in future appointments, but no compensation was provided and I felt unsatisfied with this considering the result I got and her not being transparent about the multiple sessions in the first place. I told her I understand color change can be a process and it mignt not be exactly what I showed her, but at this point I was expressing my concerns and asking for at least coming in and redoing / a hair treatment since I didn't feel content with what I paid for. By the time she responded, I had my hair done from another hair stylist somewhere else since I had trips and events planned and needed it done, and I got the results I wanted. I asked for a couple minutes to talk multiple times so I can express my concerns and try to come to a resolution as she wasn't replying in a timely manner at all over text. My texts to her were on 6/23, 6/26, 6/29, and 7/9 with no replies. On 7/10 she proceeded to tell me to text her to chat. It was extremely difficult to communicate with her in this way. I sent another message on 7/10 still trying to express my concern and reach a fair solution. I got no response. Then after my message on 8/6, she replied on 8/7 that she is understanding of the situation and offered a partial refund. I replied essentially saying I agreed to the partial refund. I was still waiting for this to be completed. After another week passed and still not receiving anything from her, I texted her again on 8/14 and 8/18 to finally receive the $170 refund on 8/19. In my experience with other hair professionals, I have consistently received a much higher level of communication, professionalism, and customer service. This was my biggest issue because it was extremely difficult to get any response from Molly, and she honestly made the impression of ignoring the situation even to the point of blocking me from her stories on Instagram. The unprofessionalism on her part and the way this situation was handled by Molly reflects poorly on Rarity Salon.

I do not agree with the person who gave Miranda 1 star. She is totally not appropriate by putting a negative review toward the appointment issue. Do you even know what yelp is for??? It is for consumers to know how the services are like but definitely not for you to complain about groupon appointment. Come on...did you even read the fine print description before you even bought it. If you did, it was your choice to make yourself wait for this long. If you didn't, well then too bad!! But I don't think you should or even have the right to put a negative review over someone you haven't even had chance to see that person. That is rude!! Rude!! Rude!! Miranda is my favorite nail person and I had a groupon with her when her groupon first started. I was scheduled to see her with no problem at all. She was very friendly and she still is because I am seeing every two weeks for my gel nails. I haven't felt disappointed and not even once so far. This is my 4th return to see her. She did a black granite like color on my nails this time and they look soooo great. Love it, love it!! People..you just need to remember that good deal (especially groupon), you just have to be patient and wait for your turn if you are lucky enough to bump into one good and nice person like Miranda. Because normally, you will get what you paid. Stop blaming for the busy groupon schedule for all the groupons you have purchased. Pay the regular price and then put a happy review instead. I give this place five stars because of my wonderful hair stylist: Mary Murphy. When you walk in she always greats you with a warm smile, and she has the scissors in hand ready to do your due. She cuts men and womens hair. This is the only stylist that I have found that is able to do a cut on a woman so perfect and a stunning fade on a man. She spares no effort when she unbuttons your drape so that she can shave your next line down low so when you are wearing your wife-beater no one sees your back hair creepin up your neck. If you are starting to turn grey she can actually reverse aging and reset you five years younger. After you hair cut you will receive a soothing wash and a gentle scalp massage and come out feeling fresh and fun. Mary is always talking and full of fun. She is physically fit, and does not rub her FUPA on your forearm while trying to trim your hair. She will have great conversations with you leaving you entertained. She does an excellent job on my wife's hair and keeps her looking 20 (from the back). Your hair will be colored to a natural look and you will not look like a skank that just got a blow and go. The only problem with this salon is that if you send you spouse there they will be get hit on in the grocery store afterwards. #HAIRYMARY read more

She is amazing and makes you feel like you found a new best friend the minute that you meet her She is so incredibly talented and professional I can't say enough wonderful things about her! I have always loved short hair on other people but I was also afraid to try it for myself until I broke my wrist so badly that I had to have surgery and my husband had to help me with my Mane of hair that I just couldn't stand it anymore and had to have it cut. Liisa has been my hairdresser since the early 90's. I won't let anyone else touch my hair. The cut and color have always been perfect - never an issue. Total confidence in her. Have watched the other hairdressers and they all do amazing work. There is a new nail technician, Vera, in the salon and she is amazing. Have only had fingers and toes done once, but she was meticulous, courteous, and very attentive. She even called me a few days after my appointment to see if I was happy with the results. I had the gel manicure over 3 weeks ago and, except for the outgrowth of the nail, they are still perfect. My nails looked like they had been dipped in the polish. Just awesome. Shelby Boyer has helped me get my hair back to being healthy after years of damaging box coloring and her co-stylist in the salon have helped her with suggestions along the way! I've been going to my regular nail salon for a couple of years and came across this very reasonable Groupon for a mani and pedi. I called to make an appointment and Miranda was very accommodating, no problem getting an appointment. I've been here twice, always satisfied with her professionalism and cleanliness. She's very meticulous, has the largest selection of gel colors with matching non gel colors (for pedi) I've seen, and great at suggesting new designs. I've recommended her to all my friends. Echelon Salon is amazing. I've been a client there for 13 years. I have really long coarse hair. Sherry DeTinne-Cassel does a clipper cut that leaves my hair perfectly straight and she never takes off more then what I ask for. I moved away for a couple of years and had gone in to get a cut and asked for 2 inches off and they took off 6. That never happens with Sherry. I have been getting my hair done at Echelon for many years. I find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. I can get consistency in style/color, or go a little wild if I have the nerve. :) One of my favorite things about the salon is the stylists tend to stay there, as opposed to high turnover. It's been ten years since I've felt bold enough to go above my shoulders and it was the confidence of the women that I was able to still feel confident in deciding to go short. Along with cutting off ten inches, I got a wonderful, relaxing, very informative facial by Cynthia. I not only learned about the different products being put on my face, I became so relaxed towards the end that I dozed off for a bit. So nice.. To just be pampered. I felt so spoiled yesterday. I wish I remembered all their names but I think it's safe to say all the ladies at etcetera salon made me feel special in their own way. It's rare when i get treatment like I did. She did not cut my hair the way I showed her even though I showed her very specific photos. She used the blade of the scissors to basically razor my curly, thick hair. When I asked questions or pointed things out she'd cut it more for some reason. I figured I'd give it a day and make sure it wasn't just the way she styled it or how it was dried. I felt and looked horrible. I did not message Amber because I thought she would take it personally and wig out- I was right. Amber called me at 9 in the evening! Then sent a series of rude messages accusing me of scamming her, which she deducted from my "character"- the only thing I talked about, when she wasn't talking over me about how she picks her nose and showing me explicit photos, was how I had surgery in Beverly Hills and that I volunteer as an English teacher for new American children. So by "character", she really meant non-White and brown skinned. I've never encountered such a disgusting display of ineptitude of skill, professionalism, and basic social and common sense. For someone of her advanced age, it is egregious to receive such horrible customer service and disrespectful communication. She did not apologize and instead played coy and told me to "calm down" and that I was "off the rails" when I calmly asked for my money back and she needed to respond for her rude messages. I got my hair recut beautifully by JOYCE SONG in SoCal, who said as she cut my hair "Did they take a razor to your head? Oh my God, why would someone do this? This is not how you cut hair."

I came with first time mom hands (dried and cracked) and after the massage my hands look much younger and doesn't look chapped. Athena has extensive experience in what she does and she does it with a smile and grace. It was her first day at work here and she didn't seem stressed out. There was a long line of ladies waiting to get pampered, since it was an all ladies Yelp Event. Kudos to Athena and her bright smile and making my hands soft and youthful again.
