Though I thoroughly enjoyed the cavern tour, I was hoping for a little something more what with all the advertising for it. The tour guide, Andrew, was phenominal, his knowledge of the cavern and its different rock formations was very impressive and made the experience all the more enjoyable! We will definitely be visiting again...word to the newbies though, bring a jacket with a hood or a hat because the cavern tends to pee on the unsuspecting. read more

This place is great. I went with some family and my little sister in law really enjoyed the petting zoo while we were waiting for our tour time. She got to feed sheep and goats.. very cute. The animals were tame. We really got a kick out of it. The caverns itself was very cool. I got some awesome pictures and really enjoyed the cavern. However I took off one star because of the rude tour guide. The guide did have some interesting things to say about the cavern but he seemed to be talking down to us saying things like "Yeeah I see there are no archaeologists in the group". My whole family took him to be rude.. I don't think you should have to be an expert to be interested in these caverns. He also continually told us in a stern manner that we were too quiet.. umm we were just listening and looking.. gee sorry we're too boring for you I was busy taking pictures! So awkward. After awhile we all totally ignored him and just focused on the cavern. I wish I could remember his name but we went a few weeks ago and I can't remember now :-/ Please get courteous tour guides!! read more

We came from Rhode Island to take the kids to Hershey's Chocolate World and included this as something to do before heading back home. I'm glad we included this in our little getaway. The caverns were fascinating. The kids loved it and we got some really great pictures. If you are in the area and have about 90 minutes to kill, it is well worth the money to check this place out. I hadn't been here since I was kid and now I am taking my own children there! It was just as amazing as I remember, except now they have a petting zoo, larger gift shop, and playground. Be sure to wear comfortable sneakers, sweater, and remember you will get wet from dripping water above. There is also a nice, but rather long miniature golf course on the road nearby. read more

It is not for young ones. I recommend ages 6 and up. The tour is very adult oriented and children are more of a distraction. The tour is pretty short. Too short for adults to get their money's worth but too long for younger children. The "petting zoo" is two goats (who bite). Be sure to bring a coat as it is only 52 degrees in the caverns. read more

We took a family week end and went to see the caverns. The kids enjoyed the tour and the petting zoo.

My husband and I have toured about four caves in the past year and this was the least entertaining. Our tour guide would mention a story and then say she didn't find that story interesting and to ask about it In the shop after the tour. And it was entirely geared towards kids which is cool until they glaze over the real history of the cave and you're left scratching your head. Had more fun at the mini golf next door. read more

My wife and I did a road trip through PA, 1300 miles total and this was by far the best cave experience we had on the two week trip. Kevin was our tour guide, he was very funny, easy to get to know, very personable and most importantly knowledgeable. Kevin made the science come alive as we walked though the cave. He got on well with the younger cavers as well as kept it interesting for the rest of the group. He is the only tour guide that truly earned the tip I gave him. Other caves just have a bunch of jokey slack jawed twenty-somethings making stupid puns. Kevin on the other hand knew the science behind the questions we were asking and did a great job of explaining everything. My wife teaches science and knows this stuff through and through and even she said Kevin did a great job. I will be sure to come back to Indian Echo Caverns because of the positive experience we had in the cave. Great job to Kevin and the employer who hired him, he's the kind of smart, hard working tour guide that set our experience apart. read more

This was a fun part of our Hershey vacation. I do feel it was a bit pricey, but very cool. The cavern was beautiful & our guide was funny, with great stories. You will want to wear at least a light jacket & shoes. No sandals or flip-flops, as you will be walking through some muddy wet patches. I found it very interesting that a hermit had lived in this cave for 19 years!! Hard to imagine, but I bought the book on his life (found in the gift shop) to find out about him. The gift shop is nice & has all kinds of fun things, stuff for kids to really cool unusual jewelry & hand made items. They also had some goats, chickens & bunnies that you can go look at to pass the time. read more

A nice medium-sized cave with some pretty cool formations and well-presented tour that covers geology and local history at a basic level. Bonus points for the small but fun playground where my kids were able to burn off some energy after the effort of behaving themselves during the tour. read more

Very professionally run however they should inform people prior to purchase that they will have to go down 70+ stairs and then go back up again. Several people were forced to turn back from our group due to this. The tour was great and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. One suggestion, if you have little ones with you bring a rain jacket. My 4 yr old froze down there and got soaked by the water that constantly drips. read more

What can I say? This was a wonderful and beautiful natural landmark. My family has visited the Harrisburg-Hershey twice in the past and while driving to the Hershey factory, we passed the signs for Indian Echo Caverns. We didn't visit the caverns each of the first two visits, we made it a point to visit this time around. Our tour guide Angie was fantastic. Just full of information and extremely friendly. Flash photography is allowed so take lots of pictures. JUST DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING ONCE INSIDE. Dress warm as it's a steady 52 degrees. I would also suggest water repelling clothes as it gets a little wet in there. There is a small petting zoo and playground for the little ones. Bring quarters for the feed machines if you plan on feeding the goats and sheep. This place is a must see. A wonderful piece of our history. read more

The petting zoo was nice for my son...he enjoyed feeding the goats. They had a little playground area as well. Our tour guide for the cavern was a young girl...didn't relay much useful information, and told a lot of useless stories which made the walkthrough very boring and uninteresting. My son was bored out of his mind, as were the other kids in our group. It's 14 bucks per adult and 8 for kids..not worth it if you ask me. It's neat to see, but make sure you don't have the young girl as a tour guide or you will probably regret it. read more

So very pretty, but the souvenior shop is completely overpriced. The caverns are definitely worth seeing, but be aware - 71 steps and you have to go down them, and back up at the end. Not for the out of shape, elderly or handicap. The animals we saw were only chickens and a goat. read more

We had to change our wedding venue at the last minute.I called Indian Echo Caverns as someone told me they have a large pavilion and grounds. They were so wonderful to work with!! They helped us in any way we needed, They have a beautiful conference room that is air-conditioned where we had our food and appetizers set up. They removed all the picnic tables for us so we could bring in round tables in the modern pavilion. By the time it was all finished we did not at all miss the country club we were supposed to be at. We were able to get pictures in the caverns which are so cool! It was such a beautiful venue with the nicest people you will ever meet. Daniel the caretaker of the property goes over and above to satisfy. Understands what you need and does it with true joy in his heart!! Cannot say enough about him. Karen was wonderful to work with helping us get everything in place for the big day. Both Daniel and Karen were there the entire day and night of the wedding and the day before for set up. It was a beautiful wedding at an outstanding venue. It has something for everyone. read more

Nice tour! Wear sneakers- it's slippery. The caves are about 54 degrees so if that's too cool for you I'd recommend a jacket though I didn't find it necessary. It was an interesting experience. Our tour guide Maggie was very good and funny. I would not bring little kids because they might get bored also because they can't touch anything. The gift shop is cool and has a wide variety of gems and rocks. I would say it's a one time thing. I saw all I needed to see of caves and I wouldn't go again even though I did enjoy it. read more

My family and I have visited Indian Echo Caverns many times, and we have brought friends and relatives as well. It is wonderful way to spend a summer morning or afternoon, and there are a number of picnic areas if you so desire to bring your own food with you. The place is family owned and welcoming. Moreover, all the people who work there are pleasant, knowledgeable, and passionate about this cave! There is a playground for children and a fenced in area where goats are housed. For the cost of a quarter, you can feed them. The goats are used to being around people and are very friendly. As you enter the property, you will see a mini-golf course and ice cream store. While these are not a part of Indian Echo Caverns, they are a great way to continue a relaxing outing. Really, Indian Echo Caverns is a wonderful place to visit! read more

this place has potential however with our tour we had a bunch of SCREAMING kids... resulting in not being able to hear the guide who was trying to talk over them...also because of the kids those of us at the back didn't get to see everything because of the time schedule they have to keep and had the lights displaying the items turned off so we didn't even get to enjoy the wonders of Mother Nature and yes I am a parent and have taken my child outside when they threw a fit that disrupts others... read more

Went to Indian Echo Caverns today with my 80 year old friend . The grounds , gift shop were lovely and inviting. After buying two senior tickets the only thing we were told is where to meet the rest of the group. No additional information was provided. As we started to descend via wooden steps we realized there were MANY steps and we let the rest of the people go around us . It quickly became apparent my friend would not be able to make it all the way down the steps, through a 45 minute tour and then back up the only way out--- those 70+ steps. We told the guide we wouldn't be able to go on her tour. After resting on the up we went back up to the counter to return our tickets only to be told that there were no refunds! Oh, yes, they would give me a $32.00 gift card to be used in their gift shop but I could not have my money back. This lovely site is not senior/ disabled friendly and there is no sign or warning that this is the case . Is this even legal???? I really feel this is dishonest and should not be allowed. Shame on the supervisors for not informing people before they purchase tickets they cannot use. read more

I have been wanting to visit this cave for a few years. I finally visited today. The tour guide was Bill and he gives a good unique tour. He told all about the history of the cave, and funny jokes added in. The tour guide also answered peoples questions if they had any. I went by myself, but noticed that both kids and adults seem to like the funny jokes and the history. Everyone including me seemed to be having a great time. It is a smaller cave, and the tour takes about 45 minutes. I don't want to spoil the good spots in the cave by telling about them, but I think that a single person married or person with kids or even a couple going on a date to the caverns would enjoy this cave. they have a playground for kids also a small petting zoo, and a gift shop. You will see some pretty horses and cows driving in the entrance. All of the workers were friendly and helpful. A warning to people with disabilities. A wheelchair can't get over the 70 something steps to get to the cave. If you have a cane, it might be hard on you also. Mom couldn;t walk all those steps, but I walked the steps and got to enjoy the cave. read more

Definitely a cool experience to go underground and see the cavern. The 'lakes' you see in the photos are more like 5 foot deep puddles, not as big as expected but still cool. Our tour guide Rachel needed to brush up on her information and history a bit. This tour is a lot of pointing to the formations and saying this looks like the Easter bunny, this looks like an ice cream cone etc. I would have liked to learn more of the history of the caverns for example if Indians were in there wouldn't there be markings from them somewhere on the walls? (Rachel didn't know). Every time someone on our tour asked a general question her response was "I don't know." Overall this is a cool tour and the gift shop is filled with tons of great items. There was also a little petting zoo with goats, chickens, and rabbits which we enjoyed. Kids liked this tour. I think your experience really depends on your guide, some are older- more knowledgeable folk, some are enthusiastic, and others are tired kids trying to make cheesy jokes. read more

Incredibly disappointed. We played in the outdoor playground area after purchasing our tickets to view the caverns. My older child played in the equipment and there was animal feces left on there and it covered her legs, arms, and dress. Not only did we have to inform the people working in the premise, the maintenance worker didn't even bother warning anyone else out in the playground about the animal feces while the children played on there. We ended up warning the other parents/kids. I was already upset about this, but when I talked to one of the sales lady in the back about the issue she tried to turn the tables on me and said loudly in front of the other customers "It isn't our fault if your daughter has had an accident." I verbally corrected her out loud and reiterated that it was some animal feces and asked if they could compensate. She then adamantly stated that it could not have been an animal doing that. And for compensation, I was basically told that if I bought an item in the gift store, they could discount it 25%. Needless to say, despite the interest and history of the caverns, we are incredibly upset and disappointed in their extremely poor customer service. DO NOT come here. read more

This is one of the nicer show caves that I have visited in Pennsylvania. Convenient location and very easy to find. The grounds were well kept and contained well maintained facilities. There is a petting zoo and a very nice playground if you have children with you. There was plenty of trees and shade as well as 2 pavilions, which provide a nice place to take a break or have lunch. Only snacks, candy, and drinks were available in the shop, so bring something to eat or make other plans for a meal. The staff was very nice and the tour guide was excellent providing a lot of good history about the cave and the area. The cave is reached by stairway. There are several spots to stop & rest if needed. The cave is not very large but it does have some very nice formations and a very expansive main area. There are some very narrow spots on the tour, stairs, and very wet areas. Overall it is worth the visit if you are looking for something to do outside of Hershey. read more
