They missed major issues in the home we purchased--problems that weren't even mentioned in their report and are now costing us over $20,000 to fix. Hire the trades to come to your home and inspect the major components. Don't hire a home inspection company. They only tell you the obvious things. They don't tell you something is not code, they do not tell you about major things like septic under driveway or seapage tanks and grease traps, they brush over your home and report that you may want to have that looked at by a qualified tradesman. Hire the Tradesman first, forget the home inspector. Its a waste of money and time and ECHO is no different. $450 down the drain. Hire a tradesman to look at all your components. Home inspectors won't report on code violations, major issues that will cost you a ton of money after you buy your home. Call a Plumber, HVAC, Electrician, Chimney Sweep, Well Inspector, Roofer, etc. You will be glad you did. read more

Horrific Inspectors I had DotTy Duse and her group inspect my house and passed it. Later I found out they never went in the attic or in the crawlspace. Right after purchasing my home I had to spend $10,000 to fix a Ceiling that was about to fall in on the rest of my house. This could've been avoided if it was inspected. I asked for a refund and was refused. Unfortunately, I found out that it's next to impossible to sue inspectors because they are not qualified carpenters, plumbers, or electrician with this company, he so anything they miss, could be considered an honest mistake. I don't see how it can be an honest mistake when they never went in the attic because if they did, they would've noticed all the damage that was done up there. I left the house and left them to inspect and they went over the checklist , I had to put $15,000 into my new home that I should've known of ahead of time and they wouldn't even bother refunding the money I gave them for the inspection. Dottt was not even nice about it. to me, it was my very first home, and it was stressful enough as it was to have an inspector turn around and treat me the way she did made it just the absolute Lee most horrific experience of my life. read more

They were able to schedule my initial inspection (and a later re-inspection to check that some issues were resolved properly) really quickly and the work was thorough. I used Echo because of a referral from my mother-in-law as they have purchased a couple of homes and swore they were great. I was buying a home (that eventually fell through when closing came) and needed an inspection done. The major issue I had with Echo is that when they inspected the home they stated that the furnace did not fire. When we brought it to the table, it turns out that the gas wasn't on. I just cannot trust an inspector that could not tell that the gas was shut off. What other things were missed then? They also stated that grade was to the house when it obviously was not. There was a little dirt pile by a corner of the house that could have been kicked flat with my foot, not a grade issue. I've just signed on for another house and will not be using Echo for my inspection. read more

Stay away from Echo Home Inspection. Hire a professional electrician and plumber. Let them tell you the real cost and problems from the beginning. Echo employees are not plumbers nor electrician. They take a class pass it and become an inspector. According to Echo they turn on the faucet water comes out plumbing works! Turn on lights electricity works! I hired Echo Inspection only to learn after my purchase and when I tired to use the home warranty that was sold with the house that nothing was covered. Warranty company does not do work on plumbing that had prior issues and does not meet city codes. I have a $9800.00 plumbing bill. When I take a shower I have to plunge the whole time because the water goes extremely slow because the piping under the house is all wrong and needs help getting through the pipes. Forget about even talking to Dotty she just has workers call you back. Than when workers call back that is a run around. My report shows one major problem under kitchen sink when I brought up it showed no problems with main bathroom got oh sorry when the report was being transferred to you it didn't all get sent?????? When I called, they were able to schedule something right away at a very convenient day and time. My inspectors arrived a little ahead of the scheduled time (bonus!) and were getting the outside work taken care of on the property before I even got there with my real estate agent. We used this company for a pre-purchase inspection in May 2014 based on a recommendation from our realtor. And while there were several issues that caused me concern at the time of inspection, I am writing this review specifically because of the incompetence related to the inspection of the copper plumbing. There were several areas of corrosion along horizontal runs of pipe which I asked about during the inspection. The inspector said it was normal. I wasn't particularly comforted by his response, but had I been an expert, I wouldn't relied on his knowledge and assessment. I am not an expert. Anyway, these areas of "normal" corrosion have now developed pinhole leaks and I am working with a plumber to replace all of the horizontal runs of copper pipe. Also beware of the unlicensed assistant Echo sends to complete many of the checklist items on the inspection report. Definitely stay away from Echo Home Inspection. read more
