Currently the rest of…read morethe recreation center is being renovated, so the entrance is on Cahuenga Blvd, albeit the adress being Cole Ave. I arrived at 615 pm and found they close at 700pm. I paid a dollar to get in (50+), and found the staff to be courteous and friendly. You are given a ticket and then it is collected by the changing room attendant (you enter the pool via the changing rooms). There are no lockers, but the attendant can store your bag while you swim. Plenty of shower and toilet stalls, pretty clean, basic facilities. Most of the pool lanes were being used for youth water polo, and there was one lap swimming lane set up. The 3 ft area on either side of the deeper parts of the pool (the middle of the pool gets to 11 ft) were open swim so I just stayed close to the lap swim lane and had no trouble getting my workout in. I was the only one left doing laps after 630pm. I will be back, I appreciate not having to swim around other people and/or share a lane, we will see if that changes when summer comes around.

The tarp over the slide looks like a typhoon hit it(dirty and ripped apart). Why tempt us? It's false advertising also. And there's a reason why they don't have pictures of the changing rooms. So dirty :( . Back before Covid when people actually worked(and wanted to work) the changing rooms were hosed down regularly throughout the day and clean. Now the attendants are on their phones the whole time instead of working. They clearly do not care about the people of this community and neighborhood when it comes to swimming and having a place to hang out in the Summer. I wanted to call the Health Dept. so many times but then I was afraid that they would shut it down permanently, other people that don't care about the filth might suffer and I wouldn't even have a place to lay out. Really sad how fast the place went downhill.

Their facilities are top-tier, they have three different pools, two jacuzzis, and a small gym for those looking for a hybrid workout. It's in a beautiful location, situated in the middle of Lower Arroyo. It's very easy to find parking, the staff is always helpful and nice, and there's always something to do. My son has had several coaches so far, all the way from 13-14 bronze to Senior 2. Coach Jordan, Coach Katie, and Coach Alex have played a pivotal role in my son's development. I just started taking swim lessons from RBAC. My experience has been fantastic from the scheduling of lessons to the actual swim lessons. Riley Wilcox has done a great job of communicating with me all through the process of getting a weekly time slot. My swim lessons have been going very well. Thanks to Benjamin, Pedro, and Ethan! They have helped me build confidence in freestyle and reaching my goal (using freestyle to do lap swim for exercise). Ethan Nava is my weekly instructor. He has been instrumental in my development. As a great coach, he has guided me, been patient, and has helped build my confidence. Ethan knows how to coach adults. He explains first, then demonstrates, then gives me feedback on my swimming. I highly recommend taking swim lessons from RBAC as an adult or child and having your child join the Rose Bowl Swim team.

That itself gives this historic structure a miraculous feel because it survived desegregation in an apartheid state that still tries to hide/deny its ugly white supremacism. Nonetheless, the racist, capitalist model of diminishing public infrastructure because they provide benefit to non-whites equally, prevails. The changing rooms are a shambles. Ironically, in many poorer nations where I have used municipal pools, they have smarter, more updated locker rooms. (This reveals the character of what passes for national culture.) Enough now with the disparagement and let's pivot to this historic pool. The length is perhaps Olympic size but the deep end of the pool is in the middle. It's cordoned off into three sections across, allowing a lap swimmer to benefit from the deepest central third, although it is not a full 25 yards across. The water is much clearer than in Glassell Park and perhaps it's because it is not as heavily used? I found there's a solid jet stream of pumped water underneath leading to a kind of "rip tide" effect in the pool. You have to work harder to get across because of the undercurrent. It's quite enjoyable. The lack of trees around this pool makes the sun feel harsh, but the nearby Gold line train gives it a feeling of being part of a vibrant metro region. As well I was smelling street tacos from a nearby truck, very aromatic I was delighted to find this pool during one of the extended brutal heat waves of triple digit temperatures that are commonplace now thanks to climate change. However, consistent with the history of white colonizers being callous about the welfare of non-white citizens, and overriding the unique realities of western geography in favor of conformity with norms from the northeast, the City of LA Parks and Recreation department feels the need to shut down pools like this one during LA's *hottest months* of September and October. In other words, yes, the City of LA would rather people of this area suffer the heat than keep this pool open to allow for some respite for vulnerable human bodies. LA's hottest months are always September and October. City of LA Parks and Recreation: We don't care. Finally, note there is limited parking in a lot which exits into a mega-dip in the street side curb that will crack most sedans' chassis... Call 818-804-7570 about hours.

Like most community pools, it's in a beautiful neighborhood of Burbank and has some playgrounds and tennis courts near the pool. The locker rooms are kept up really well and the pool's temperature is kept at just the right level of cold and the chlorine level doesn't feel drastic as some places. The staff are great and helpful. The day rate depends on if you live in Burbank or not ($6-8) for lap swim and keep their schedule updated on their website. Bring your own swim gear as they are not provided by the aquatic center! Depending on time of day and when you go, the lap swim can be metered or by yards, as the layout of the pool can change (with kids swim, open swim, aerobics) nearby. Theres also a nice outdoor area for family events or kids birthday parties. Theres street side parking and they have a good size parking lot but it's pretty busy on weekends; people leave frequently and usually are waiting for your parking spot when you head out! A local who has been coming here for years encouraged me to try Mccambridge Recreation Pool (which I have yet to)!

As usual, water in the room costs money, and there are a few other products with hidden price tags in the room, too. Surprisingly, toothbrush and toothpaste was not provided. The water for showering also doesn't get too hot. In terms of the athletic space, the machines were very easy to access. There was never a wait even on weekend afternoons. The lap pool was my favorite part - clean and calm. There was some miscommunication between the lobby and the store, as one said there is no reservation system but there in fact was. But even when told all the lanes were fully reserved, more than half weren't in use. Parking is a bit of a hassle; for non-members it's definitely not worth it. At the time of visit, the parking machine wasn't working. There are also sperate elevators for parking vs the athletic club / hotel area which was a little confusing. The stair numbers also didn't coordinate the best with actual level.

That is not how a public pool should operate. - Staff do not enforce or educate swimmers on basic lap-swimming etiquette (sharing lanes, splitting or circle swimming). Many swimmers act territorial and refuse to share lanes, and no one corrects them. - The atmosphere is often unpleasant and at times unsafe. I was harassed by another swimmer with clear behavioral issues, and staff did nothing. - The facilities themselves are poorly maintained -- dirty, with visible cockroaches and no proper changing rooms. Since switching to LACES Pool, the difference has been night and day. The staff there are professional and respectful, the facilities are clean and well maintained, and there's a proper locker room for swimmers. Sadly, Eleanor Pool does not meet even the most basic standards I'd expect from a public pool. I won't be returning.

When I arrived, the employee asked, "Do they want the water park too?" I replied, "That's why we're here." She then told me it was an additional $10 per person. What wasn't made clear is that the $10 only covers one hour. After getting inside, I learned you have to keep paying for every additional hour. For comparison: Castaic Splash Park 2 kids = $70 total Parent = free Adventure Lagoon (calculation based on 3 hours - though I chose this place to come for 4 hours since it was advertised as same price for all day) 2 kids admission = $70 Water park fees = $60 Parent admission = $35 Total = $165 So instead of spending the day at a beautiful lake surrounded by nature, we paid more than double to be at a small water park surrounded by warehouses. The website prominently advertises the day rate and has a big "BOOK NOW" button, but the hourly water park fees are not made clear upfront; you have to literally scroll below the pricing and "Book Now" to see them. My older son loved it so much that he is now becoming a Junior Leader, which says everything about how meaningful Cali Camp has been for him. My younger son, who is in 2nd grade, went for the first time last year and is already so excited to go back. What really stood out to me was how quickly they both adapted. My younger son joined not knowing anyone and felt welcomed almost immediately. Both of my boys felt included from day one. The staff is incredibly caring, supportive, and attentive. You can truly feel that they work hard to create a safe, joyful environment for the kids, and as a parent that means everything. The activities are fantastic: well planned, age appropriate, engaging, and fun. The natural setting is also beautiful and feels especially important these days. My boys came home with confidence, stories, friendships, and summer memories they will cherish forever. And the camp spirit is real. We still sing the silly songs at home, especially the announcements song whenever we have a family announcement, and the birthday song too. I cannot recommend Cali Camp enough.
