Mr. Pipes is one of a rare breed! When our oven went on the fritz, he was there EXACTLY when he said he would be. He gave us a chance to try something that would potentially fix the break that was cheaper. When it, too, didn't stay fixed, he returned to fix it without additional labor costs (just parts). AND he told me the secret of why this particular part tends to break (self cleaning ovens and their thermostats) so I could avoid it in the future. I need to cook this man 14 pans of brownies! I called him on recommendation from a sweet lady at a local plumbing company (I didn't know who to call). Here was my problem: I had lost me very small and thin wedding band in my washing machine. I could see a small seam between the agitator (learned what that was called) and the outer circumference of the basket. I was worried my band had fallen into this crack. Lane told me to pull up in the agitator and it should have some give and then look around in there. AND I FOUND IT!! He was so nice and said he was glad j found it because he didn't want to come out there and waste my money for something so small. I really appreciate that. I totally appreciated the way the Echols handled my washer repair - I had run the diagnostic codes & knew my problem had to do with the drain or the water pump. My nephew had checked the hoses & found no issues there so the assumption was the water pump to my Maytag washer had gone out. I definitely was expecting to hear "the pump needs to be replaced". I had a bad experience with another local appliance repair shop. My previous Maytag washer was leaking & it turned out it was a loose hose on the inside. It was tightened & no more leak. However, the repairman told my husband a major part would be going out soon & I ok'd that repair.. thought might as well get it fixed before it quits since it was really recommended we get it done. My husband called me back, not five minutes later to tell me the repairman broke something in the washer that now made my washer UNREPAIRABLE. No apology, no offer to waive the service fee since he messed up but did say the service fee we paid could be applied to a new one at their shop. Told my husband to pay him & get him out of my house. ECHOLS, on the other hand, found part of a Bobby Pin in the water pump & all I paid was their service fee. They could've told me it needed a new water pump & I wouldn't have know any better. If Lane fixes it, it is fixed. I have used Lane for well over 10 years. The longest I have ever had to wait for him to get there is 24 hours. He explains the problem, how he will fix it and how not to have the problem return. Before I buy and appliance I ask Lane if he likes the brand and if he will work on it. Mr. Pipes dealt with my wife, so my review is an admitted vicarious one since I did not have the pleasure of dealing with him. The challenge we were having was with our dryer, which was squeaking and squealing loud enough to cause epilepsy in the Obenhaus household. I found these great reviews on Yelp and we were not disappointed. Our problem was quickly diagnosed and quickly corrected. Mr. Pipes does what he needs to do to get people back on their feet with appliances. My only involvement was seeing the final bill, and for the work that was performed, it was extremely reasonable. Big houses like Sears would have charged almost as much just to have the basic service call. Bypass all of this and go to the guy that will fix it without any upselling or upcharging. read more

Fantastic service! I had issues with both my washer and dryer. They set up an appointment within just a few days of my initial contact. They called to let me know they could come early the day of the appointment. They are very professional but also very easy to conversate with. They quickly located the issue with the dryer and replaced a moldy rubber seal in my washer. They also suggested several cleaners to help rid the washer of those issues in the long run as well (dishwasher soap! Who knew?). My dryer had not been working for a couple of days and I figured it was time to get someone to come out and repair it. Not only did he show up within a few hours, he told me that replacing my dryer would be the cheaper option and that he would not even feel comfortable fixing it for me because he felt like that would be a safety hazard for me in the future. My dryer was not working two days ago and wouldn't you know it as soon as Mr. Pipes pushed the start button the darn thing began to work. Mr. Pipes was very nice about it and told him to go ahead a service the machine. He said that it was not necessary and just cleaned it out for us. He only charged me a service call and told me that if it stopped working again he would come back without charging us again for a service call.
