Echostage has great performers I must admit, and all the big artists seem to play at this venue. My biggest complaint with this place and the reason why I rarely go back is because firstly, it is so out of the way of everything! It is located in the middle of no where. It's not a problem to get to, but leaving is where the stress and panic and desperation come in. At the end of the concert, there are hundreds of people leaving at the same time, no cabs because it is so out of the way, and the uber surcharge ends up being 7x+, resulting in hundreds of dollars in ride fares. It's in the middle of nowhere... it's small... it's super crowded... and it can get pretty ratchet. So far I've seen Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, Miley Cyrus, and 3lau here. Maybe it's a good venue for less popular shows, but dang when it's sold out, it's unbearable. I always end up in the "Asian corner" on the far right near the door to the smoking area because that's the only place where it isn't packed, but it sucks because you can't see the lights/stage very well from that angle. Unfortunately, basically all of the big EDM shows are at Echostage (even though DC armory is a much better venue for raves), so I guess it's unavoidable if you're into that kind of music. read more

This place effen sucks. Okay, so it has ample bathrooms... Awesome. I don't go to a place for bathrooms. The service was god awful and with all the 18 year olds there, full of slopoptamuses. Making things even worse the slow as effing molasses bartender gave my debit card to some random because she thought he was my friend, since I wallked away. It took 15 minutes to get her slow ass to actually get us drinks and in any other bar, if a person walks away.... it's called leaving your tab open. When I went to close the tab, and she informed me that she gave it away, she was like "well you walked away." Fuck you echostage. Your venue may be good for EDM, but your service fucking blows. read more

I've been looking forward the the Lindsay Stirling concert for months. Very disappointing! Unless you are one of the first 200 people through the door, you have zero chance of actually seeing the stage. The whole point of going to a live concert is to actually SEE the person perform. We had a fairly decent view from the 2nd floor, about three people deep off the railing when security decided to push about 30 people out of the way to make room for one of the VIP tables. Totally lost any chance of seeing anything at that point. Security really couldn't care less if you get a view or not. The tables (with a view!!) are by reservation only, and I don't really what to know what it costs. The alcohol you are required to purchase at a table starts at $225 a bottle, and ranges up to $950. For ONE bottle. Maybe people have more cash than me to spend on a concert....but I though the $40 tickets were sufficient. There are large screens on the walls upstairs - why don't they at least show the performance??!! Then those of us stuck staring at the back of stranger's heads for two hours would have an alternative. Altogether highly frustrating and irritating experience. NOT something I will choose to repeat. read more

Very spacious club. Giant dance floor on first, VIP upstairs. Many bathrooms, never a real wait. The womens is well lit w plenty of mirror and sink space all along entire left side of the club (men's all along right). Also legit cleaning lady in bathroom entire night is a plus. Easy to get a drink. Long bars line the entire left and right side of the venue, just like the bathrooms. Lasers, visual screens, occasional smoke or confetti, and a large variety of edm artists coming thru makes for a fun, stimulating, dance environment. If you forego the $20 parking right outside the club, you can park further away on the main street for free (parking in the smaller side streets runs risk of your car being broken into, mine never has but I know a couple ppl who had that experience). Best dance club in DC. I'm surprised echo doesn't have a much higher yelp rating. read more

I went there last night. I tried to make a phone call and I walked around the entrance area. I got kicked out for no reason, some time around 2:30 am. Bouncers yelled at me saying that they didn't care that I wanted to show them my ticket. Also, my credit card and my jacket were inside, but they said they don't care. I spent almost 300$ to get yelled and kicked out for doing nothing wrong. read more

Went on Friday for the first time. The event was publicized as "starting at 10, doors open at 9". We got there at 10 thinking that it probably wouldn't start until 10:30ish or 11, but the concert started after 1 am. The DJ played really awful music and then kept on teasing that the artists were coming soon. The place was packed, especially at the front of the stage. People started to get irritated and angry and saw a few attempts to fight. Only normal if you are standing in the same location for over 3 and half hours or 4 like some of my friends who got there at 9. When the concert started the sound was awful too. The energy of the artists was good and they were kind of entertaining, but nothing that a horrible sound and tired feet wouldn't ruin. At the end after the concert was over and DJ played 3 more songs. They turned on the lights and kicked everybody out. Kicked is the right world. Security rushed everyone out in the cold, even if you were waiting for the cab or uber you called. If one thing they do right is security. They have a lot of security guards because apparently it's been plenty of fights. We thought of taking a table upstairs where you couldn't see very well because all the front tables were taken, but at least we were sitting and we were told there was an extra 30% charge so the cheapest bottle was $325 plus taxes plus tip. So not worthy! In general I do NOT recommend this place and I personally don't plan on going again no matter who is playing there! read more

Echostage - Music Venues Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I saw a show here the other night and the best thing about the experience was the amazing BBQ chicken I bought down the street from some guys with a grill. Seriously, check that chicken out. As for Echostage, meh. It looks like it was made to be dance club, not a concert venue. What that means is that the floor isn't tilted or tiered so it makes seeing the stage really difficult if you happen to be petite like me. It was a sold out show, but there was plenty of space to move about which was good. It probably depends on the crowd, at a disappointing Modest Mouse show where they decided to play sleepy time music we didn't really have to worry about anything crazy. As for parking, we used parking panda it cost $10, and worked well. read more

Talk about an awesome concert hall. my friends and I go to all the major glow events and we have a blast. Parking is a little difficult so I suggest to come early or valet it. Sound system rocks, staff is awesome and finally DC has a home for true EDM events. Cant wait for Tiesto! read more

My husband and I live in Baltimore and we went to see Interpol on 7-28-15 at Echostage. We took the metro because we were told there was a free shuttle that starts picking up at 6:30. It turns out that this "shuttle" is actually a shady ass school bus that came at 7:10...really? The whole point was to be there as the doors were opening to secure our spot. The shuttle ride took 20+ minutes which made us start feeling concerned about our return trip since we knew the band would go on at 9:30 and that the metro would close at midnight. Sure enough, we make our way outside at 10:45ish (during the encore which we missed. thanks.) and there is no bus. 30 minutes pass.... no bus. 45 minutes....no bus. No one had any information for us about this elusive bus and we ended up grabbing a cab at the 11th hour (which we had to shell out 20 bucks for) and got to the metro by just the skin of our teeth. I'm sorry, but get it together Echostage. Your venue is awesome, but your transporation is dog shit. read more

This place charges five dollars for a small bottle of water! This is just a bad idea- with this many people packed together, and drinking, in an overcrowded space, the least the venue could do is provide free (or even reasonably priced) water to go along with the overpriced drinks. read more

First time there and I can honestly say I have nothing good to say about this place. The staff was rude and dismissive and wouldn't let me inside bc I was 'too intoxicated' even though that wasn't even true. I paid for my tickets way in advance to see my FAVORITE band and they wouldn't even look at them. There are so many better ways their staff could have handled the situation: asked me to step aside and wait to sober up for 30 min, let me in but mark my hands with X's (i've seen other venues do this). I was talking to other people there (including a cop, mind you) and literally everyone vouched for me and agreed it was bullshit and tried to talk to the guy out front (Mark?) to let me in. Still no. I asked to talk to the supervisor and she didn't give me the time of day either. These people literally ruined an event I had been looking forward to for months, my favorite band of all time, so instead I had to listen from outside. I stood out there for 4 hours, crying bc I was so devastated. Oh yea, and my friend I came with was let in after about an hour. She was very flirty with said bouncer for the whole hour so funny how that works. That's not my style and I'm just appalled at how everything was handled. They never checked her for a ticket bc I had both of them the whole time. I really thought people were better than that and I hope there are repercussions for that kind of behavior. So congratulations EchoStage! You truly, truly earned this terrible review. read more

The main complaint that is driving this is the place takes the cheap/greedy route of charging $5 for a .50 cent water bottle at the bar. There are no self-serve water stations in the bars (unlike at proper venues) that covers the length of the venue on both sides.... and the bartender mentioned only free water at a 'rescue station'... why do i need to go to a rescue station? What club or bar doesn't serve water easy to guests... this isn't some festival in the woods. Location's a hike, nothing around it and need to wait out an uber. The sound and light was impressive enough and the bathrooms were huge with minimal wait. Bottom line though is that if a place suggests I go to a 'rescue station' to get a water with my $7 heineken... something is wrong. read more

Amazing sound system and fantastic stage. Will always have a wonderful time here. 21 + will allow you to enter the bar upstairs. They have famous djs and other musicians performing here almost every weekend. You will be checked for drugs at the entrance so if it's cold, expect to be standing outside a bit longer. There is a coat check but idk the price. I usually Uber it and the line is pretty quick. The venue is usually 18+ so there are some shows with really young looking attendees. It is definitely my favorite music venue in dc and a spot I will take all my friends from out of the city. read more

I saw Twenty One Pilots here. I got there around 5 when doors opened at 6:30, and the line wrapped around the block, and we got spots near the middle of the floor. We could barely see anything on the stage, and the crowd was too tightly packed for us to move forward. For a band like Twenty One Pilots, where the visuals are really good and they do a bunch of cool stuff that you'd want to see, I don't think this is the best venue, unless you're right up front(although, you would have to deal with endless pushing) The show itself was amazing, but it would've been better if I could see what was going on read more

They have an AMAZING BASS!!!! I came here last night for Armin Van Buuren and my ears are still muffled today. The entire time my heart was just pounding to the rhythm of the beats and it was AWESOME!!!! I think they might even have a better sound system than Vegas!! Maybe it's because they are brand new. The setup is kind of like a giant warehouse though so don't think it's some fancy club and get super dressed up. There's also a second level where the VIP people go, but I wouldn't pay extra just to be there because you can get a lot closer on the floor!! I didn't really like how the DJ set is kind of far from the very front. It's not like we can hop over the bars with all the security there. I like to feel like I can almost touch the DJ! Other than that the floor gets pretty gross and slippery with all the drink spills so wear shoes with traction! Overall pretty legit club!! read more

Echostage was primarily a venue for EDM shows, but now IMP is also hosting rock concerts there as well. My initial read after one experience is that while it's probably a step above DAR, but it isn't a good venue either. I went to Echostage with two friends to see Morrissey. The first thing you need to know about the venue is that it is pretty far from public transportation. We originally tried to take a bus, but the bus never showed up so we eventually took the metro to NOMA and then the free shuttle bus from there. It ended up taking about an hour. When we got out of the shuttle there was a line around the block to get into the venue. The search going in was relatively thorough for a Morrissey concert. The show was supposed to start at 8:00 but didn't really start till 8:30 or so, which was good because the line moved slowly. It wasn't super backed, but the show wasn't sold out and I ended up about 1/3 of the venue back. The stage is a bit low, but we were close enough that I could see fine. The venue is also really wide, so a lot of people can fit in. Sound was ok, though a little muddied, and the AC was blasting in spots... enough that I had to move because I was freezing. Concert ended by about 10:30, which is when getting home would have been a nightmare. Luckily I didn't have to get onto the shuttle (1 school bus) with everyone else because I found a friend who drove us to the metro. Parking around the venue is super expensive but if you go a little ways out you can supposedly park in the neighborhood for free. I think next time I'll try to walk from the RI ave metro. Anyway, not a horrible venue, but I will only be heading here if I REALLY want to see someone because it is really inconvenient. read more

I've been to Echostage for an EDM show twice, and I have no complaints about the venue itself. Each experience has been a blast. However, I was treated very poorly by the staff on my most recent visit this past weekend and feel the need to complain. As many people like to do, my group and I went to a bar before the show to get our fill and avoid the ridiculous drink prices at the venue. I had 3 vodka cranberries, finishing my third about 20 minutes before getting to the venue. Was I intoxicated? Yes. Was I belligerently drunk? Not by a long shot. Every person in my group of 12 had just as much if not more to drink than I had, and nobody was fall-down drunk in the slightest. I was denied entry to the venue twice and told that I needed to sober up. The bouncer I spoke with, named Slade, could only cite "glassy eyes and a wide stance" as reason to keep me out. On the second try, I was given a wristband and okayed to enter, but then the bouncer changed his mind. On the third try, I dealt with a different bouncer and explained that I had spoken to Slade before and he told me to sober up and come back. This bouncer then asked me what Slade's phone number was. Wtf? Why would I have his phone number? I explained what happened again and was met with "Oh so you musta been fucked up then huh?"......I wasn't going to argue, so I said yes. "Okay then see, you don't gotta lie!".......Wtf sir, who lied to you? I certainly didn't. The whole ordeal was infuriating. I enjoyed myself once I got inside (and ran into SEVERAL people who were INCREDIBLY intoxicated who were aparently let in with no problem). Complete BS and almost ruined my evening over the 3 freaking drinks I had beforehand. read more

Came all the way from Wilmington, DE for Kaskade Saturday and ended up not getting in because the shady security guards here are really on a power trip. Security guard in the blue polo got in my face after I had already thrown my gloves away like they asked and was threatening me saying, "You better not give my security any trouble tonight." I asked him what he was talking about since I had already did what they asked and then he proceeded to tell me, 'You're not getting in" and then told the rest of the security guards to not let me in either. I went here for Martin Garrix, and my impression was that of a decent venue for EDM performances, with lots of space and a cordoned off VIP area. The sound system is pretty good, but the sound is definitely better closer to the stage. The bouncers can be a bit rude but I guess that's their job. Be warned though, drinks at the bar are super pricey. However, the bartenders are friendly and service is quick. Overall, it's pretty much "average" in my opinion, but given the paucity of EDM venues in DC, I'm grateful that we at least have Echostage. read more

Love this venue. The sound system is awesome and the lights set a great ambiance. The club goers are pretty young. The line moves fast. The staff is fantastic. A lot of people complain in these reviews about the thorough patdowns. Personally, with all the mass shootings that happen anywhere and everywhere, I appreciate a thorough patdown. There's also a first aid room where people can go to sober up when they're sick from drinking. Sometimes the artists show up late, but I know no one can control that. read more

Didn't really enjoy this venue at all - I was here for a sold out show for Tame Impala and it was awful to get a good view anywhere. For a pretty pricey ticket I am paying, I want to be able to enjoy my concert... and not sure about EDM, but definitely not the right venue for rock concerts. My friends and I ended up spending most of our time sitting in the couches upstairs talking, because the downstairs was a complete mosh pit and the balcony area was too crowded and difficult for me (not very tall) to see. What irritated me the most was the sound system -- at this venue it is extremely loud to the point of giving you a headache... and I've been to many concerts! You can take this sketchy school bus "shuttle" if you wait at the subway station before the concert (you'll have to wait for half an hour minimum), but ubering here will be your best bet because it indeed is in the middle of nowhere. Right before Echostage before passing the bridge however is a decent sichuan-style restaurant so I'll give you that. read more

I was here on Valentine's Eve with my girlfriend and one other couple to see Galantis. The show was great but I'll keep this review focused on the venue. There is no parking garage that I saw but there are parking locations nearby at a reasonable cost. I recommend using Parking Panda to reserve and pay for a spot beforehand; we found a spot for $11 only 0.1 miles away from the venue. The venue itself is big with two levels and accessible bars, though the upper level was reserved for VIP at my event. An important aspect of any concert venue is the restroom which, for men, had a ton of urinals which were clean though cramped. As with similar venues, staff hand out paper towels and offer cologne by the sink for tips which can be a little annoying at times. Overall, a pretty good venue that I'd be happy to revisit. read more

Love love love Echostage. Great venue for seeing various artists. 5/5 stars for the venue itself. This post is specifically about a female bartender upstairs during Hardwell Saturday night. She was so drunk and could not function to get orders, use the register, or close out. We waited over an hour to close out. Granted she was friends with my friend closing out, we expressed multiple times that we needed to close and she refused. She just kept dancing and grabbing us. Then she would take other people's orders and screw those up. Multiple angry customers up top dealing with her. We started trying to check out after Hardwells set and where still there over an hour later. The worst part was that she got an attitude with me when I asked politely for the millionth time to close out. She told me I needed to relax, take a breathe, and leave. Again I was polite and sober. She on the other hand was not. She was the worst. I have never had an issue with bartenders (most are super friendly) but I would never go back to her. read more

I had a terrible experience at this "night club". It was overcrowded and full of rude people. People were throwing elbows and pushing and shoving. THE SECURITY DID NOTHING. I even had a male run into me and then try to fight me. The male called me a n****, ugly, and tried to get in my face. He caused so much of a scene that people around us even noticed the confrontation. Yet no one stepped in to try to stop the situation. I had to reason with him by saying you realize your trying to fight a female, right? I ended up leaving the event before the headliner came on. IF SECURITY DID THERE JOB I COULD HAVE ENJOYED THE SHOW. Also it seemed like 95% of the people in the crowd were under 21. The crowd was not a good scene. If your 18 yeah this place is great. But if your 21+ don't waste your money on an overpriced and over crowded venue. read more

I find it extremely ignorant and poor for the way this club handled a meet and greet with a famous DJ. Tickets were $107 per person and guests were told they were unable to use their cell phones to have the pictures taken. That is fine, however the pictures were taken by the club's photographer and no explanation was given on how and when the pictures would be given to the guests. The event was at 9 last night, it is now 7:00pm the next day and everyone has yet to receive the pictures. I also sent a message both on Facebook and Instagram this morning asking about this but have not heard anything back. Very poor and disappointing and I will not be returning due to the way this was handled although the DJ was amazing. read more

I haven't been to many venues in all my concert/raver years, but this one has to probably top them all. I've wanted to come here for over a year already and never had the chance to do so until after Thanksgiving. Came all the way from NYC to celebrate my bfs birthday and see KSHMR. Quick security check and my group got around easily to get ourselves a spot as close to the front as possible. The crowd was a bit off throughout the night but whatever. Got to the rail sometime before the headlining DJ came on. Very spacious venue anyways, so we would have been fine just about anywhere but glad we got to the rail. Security were doing their job making sure people were following rules (like no shoulder riding which is always annoying to see at events) and handing out FREE water bottles. Bruh. I'm in heaven. Can't get any better than actually being treated like a human being and a venue recognizing how essential that is. No wonder this was voted the #1 venue in the States. read more

Love this venue, great acts perfect sound system and old school feel, reminds me of Buzz the old Capital Ball Room. I've been to the echo stage twice now and I must say both experiences have been horrible. The venue packs the place until their is no room to dance at all but just stand their and maybe just maybe jump in one place for a few seconds. The roomy balcony area is exclusive to VIP only so good luck getting up there. I recently saw one of my favorite electronic artists there and unfortunately the venue and crowd ruined my entire experience which killed my mood at the show. I could barely enjoy it because I was dodging vomit from drunks the entire night and of course everyone pushes to the front not caring about personal space of others. I probably will not be back to the echo stage which is a shame. read more

I love this venue! Panorama productions did a great job when they established echostage. I usually buy my tickets online for the shows that I want to go to. Sometimes they sell tickets at the door but I don't want to take the chance of sell outs. Let me tell you, if there's a hot Dj in town then echostage will sell out fast! When you walk into the venue, you're on the lower floor and that floor is for those who wants to dance the night away. If you just want to watch the show and relax with some drinks, I suggest you contact the VIP manager Ben and get a table for the night. Note: you must be 21 for the balcony/table area.
