Came here for a night out to hear hip hop and chill with friends. The music was pretty good and we had a nice time out dancing. Adult beverages were over-priced drinks served by bartenders wearing skimpy clothes that were not experienced in their drink making skills. Upstairs area was cool. Nice view of the entire layout. I was here for a DJ set last Saturday, so this place is most definitely not permanently closed unless I was having a fever dream and that DJ set never really happened lol.... Anyway this is a beautiful venue. It's a small venue, but the good news is there's two floors. The bartenders are great - friendly, attentive, efficient. Drink prices are standard; I paid $17 for a bottle of Bud Light and a small bottle of Evian, but that $17 included the restaurant-imposed gratuity (however - always tip extra!!! The staff works hard and deals with LARGE crowds while staying pleasant!!!). My problems with this place are that there is not much seating unless you want to pay for a table (then again I'm old and haven't been to a nightclub since Nation in the early 2000s lol so the lack of seating is probably standard), the carpet or flooring right under the DJ booth on the first floor was STICK.Y. Omg it was like glue. And my last problem is that it's a small venue - but they can't help that. Somehow I ended up literally right outside of the DJ "booth" the whole night, and was within 5-10 feet of my favorite EDM duo (the Knocks) the whole time. For parking - I was easily able to find street parking a block away for the 11p set. I was going to spend $13 trying to park in a garage, but I decided to risk it and I'm glad I did. I've been here twice. The food at dinner is much better than brunch. The brunch is more for the entertainment than food. Tickets for SIR Sunday's range from $65-125 depending on section, then once you arrive all extra drinks (not mimosas), shots, tip, etc. is all cash. This isn't a big deal but the closest ATM is in the hotel about s block away. Plan accordingly and make sure everyone in your group knows to bring cash. read more

So, check "salsa dancing with a sexy, toned, delectable, well-oiled stripper, to one of my FAVORITE salsa songs ("Valio La Pena", in case you're curious) off of my to-do list. I hadn't even been properly seated and libated before *that* happened. I like a little artistry with my debauchery so this whole show was right up my alley. (And shoutout to Yahweh for all of the salsa lessons I took up to this point...#Prepared). I didn't even know strippers could salsa. Go figure. As opposed to the generic bumping, grinding, and gyrating, there was an added level of creativity and skill to this show which featured aerial artists performing routines on silks, and even on chains. Not chairs... Chains. (Although there were chair dances involved too... Turn up) There was floor-to-ceiling fine (literally) in every flavor you can imagine. There was also a diverse selection of music (everything from salsa to soca), giving a depth and sense of added flavor to the show. The food was pretty good. I had the kale salad as a starter, the shrimp and grits as an entree, and some kind of fruit and whipped cream concoction as dessert. Everything was absolutely delectable. If you can afford it, the splurge for VIP is definitely worth it. Unlimited Mimosas: That's all I'm going to say. This place was a pain in the ass to find, but it's directly across the street from the Grand Hyatt, at the intersection of 11th Street and H Street NW. PRO-TIP: Valet parking is well worth it. It's only $12 and gives you the opportunity to hop out of the car and immediately into the show. Do it! PRO-TIP #2: Bring your ones. Lots of ones. ALL the ones. I came here for my first time for my friend's girls' night out birthday dinner! I arrived via Uber and I didn't realize where Sax was since there wasn't a huge sign out front. The ambiance was nice but it was actually a bit smaller than I imagined. We were seated in the corner on the main floor but there's also seating upstairs, with the bathrooms in the basement. Discotheque was the show that was being presented the night we went. The show was cool with different acts throughout - either behind the glass, acrobatics over the bar, or on the main floor. The food was amazing though! I got the NY strip steak with crab and it was delicious and made me feel like the price was worth the whole experience. We didn't stay long enough for the lounge to open but we also came early enough (before the $75 spend minimum). I think Sax is definitely worth a visit at least once in your life for the experience! read more

I had a great experience at SAX this past weekend celebrating a girlfriend's birthday. We purchased the package that gave our friend a lap dance, extra attentive table service, as well as a lap dance during the reception! Safe to say that everything went perfectly, shout out to each of the bus boys (especially you, Adrian!!), the strippers (Byron and Bryant!) and our sexy server Kenny!!!!!!!!!! The men danced extremely well and the brunch was beautifully organized around the dining experience. HOWEVER, I was highly disappointed with the music that accompanied the performance of dancer Tom. This lounge attracts many different kinds of people, of varying sexualities. It was discouraging to see their gay performer, Tom, dance to Imagine Dragons. Not sexy at all to the women or men in the audience, I can PROMISE you that. I wouldn't be able to collect a group of people that would be turned on by music that is frequently overplayed in a Kohl's. I need the manager to step it up when it comes to Tom and any other gay performers who'd like to dance to something else. As a straight woman, I would have preferred and enjoyed cheering for Tom as he danced to Britney Spears or something else more fitting to his style of art performance, I'm sure the gays would side with me on that as well. We went to an event on a Saturday night. Great venue for music and dancing, however not sure why they believe they can charge a 20% on top of your bill right away when you only order beer on a bottle. Like it take the bartender a lot of time to open the beer. Also we waited like 10 minutes at the bar. My Tito's with sprite and lime was $16:80. The bartender never showed me the bill. Lesson learn, I might go here for dancing but not for a drink. read more

I went to sir Sundays brunch. Sax is a very beautiful place, I love the decor. When you come in the staff is guys only and they're in underwearish clothing. They have the ability to provide you with change for tipping. I was pleased with the entertainment. They on a couple of shows. The brunch had a set menu. I wasn't really impressed with the food. We had mixed greens salad, shrimp n grits and chocolate mousse. The only thing I liked was the shrimp n grits. I would come back for entertainment but not the food. Cute little place for our bachelorette party festivities. I would ideally give it a 3.5 but yelp doesn't do that so here we are :-) There was about 12 people there and we made a reservation. We had to do a contract for a party and spend a $75 minimum each. They gave us all welcome shots and a special dance for the bride. I think this deal was ok but the show was a little dry for me. The Ariel acts were amazing but the side dancers were just OK. I expected a little more risqué experience I think. The food was decent but the drinks were lacking alcohol. I got the temptress drink and it was all grapefruit juice. I felt no buzz from it. I did not order it again. For an appetizer, I got the Parmesan Brussel Sprouts. They were pretty good. My entree was the salmon and they ask you what temperature you want it cooked from rare to well done. I chose well done. It was crispy and juicy. The mashed potatoes were good as well. Finally for dessert, I got the chocolate cake. It was rich. Overall, it was a cool one time spot for me. The food took incredibly long and the server chopped it up to having a party of 50 people upstairs. The only thing I would say is that we pre booked as well, so they should have staffed for that. In addition, my friend ordered a certain cut of steak and they tried to give her another cut without her noticing. When she asked why, they said they didn't have that cut and the kitchen did not tell her. So they had us waiting past our table time then rushed us out, so they could turn over to a club. Sounds like they need better communication between the waitstaff and the kitchen. read more

The entertainers were extremely talented and the aerial dances were top notch. I told my friend it felt like a mini-cirque du soleil show... Tip: Bring as many ones as you can muster. Ohhh Sax...the food is alright but I came for the M&Ms: Men and Mimosas! The male burlesque show is FANTASTIC (this was before the pandemic). My girls and I thought it was well worth the money. I had the salmon and it worked but the shrimp and grits were a miss! I love the touchscreen photo booth in the lobby. It's a nice touch. In my most recent experience, it was pouring the staff was pushing everyone outside to prepare for another event. A suggestion to stand under the tents outside would have been nice. I would give them 0 stars if I could. My partner and I purchased 2 VIP skip the line tickets to the Kehlani after party that happened to be held at this lounge. However, after heading to the venue after Kehlani's Fairfax concert ended, we were denied entry to the event (along with many other VIP ticket holders) while the security guards let in people they knew and people who had purchased tables. After I asked about the VIP tickets, the security guard informed me that the VIP tickets would not be honored and that in order to enter the event, people would need to either pay a $60 fee or purchase a table. Needless to say that my partner and I left without attending the event. We wasted almost $100 on the VIP tickets and additional money on transportation there and home. The lounge was clearly on a power trip to make additional money off of an artist and their fans. Definitely would not recommend this place. read more

I appreciate the decor and customer service that was received, but there are few things lacking with this venue. The performers were ok, but the sound system seems like it needs more bass. We sat on the main floor on the side of the house, and the sound from there seemed to be muffled, and just focused in the center area. Because SAX is not a large venue, one would think that the music would be more of us surrounding experience. The acrobatics during the rope routines were captivating, while it was hit or miss with the other dancers...they remembered to smile, forced or not. Of course I checked out their menu beforehand as well as reviews and pictures on Yelp, but they just so happened to "run out" of salmon after I ordered it. Not good, especially for a Saturday night. I ordered the scallops as a substitute, and they were good. The lobster mac was cheesy and creamy, but could use more lobster. The pieces are shredded within the pan, but I could still tell that there wasn't much lobster throughout the dish. I was a part of a large group, and it wouldnt be a group outing without bill issues right? Lol. There were charges for more food than received, and some other discrepancies, nothing too crazy. Our waitress seemed to be a little overwhelmed with our party on top of serving other parties, but she kept her cool. I appreciated her attentiveness throughout the night. read more

Sax has been on the radar for quite a few years maybe 2014 or 2015 (Yeah long time). The concept of the dining and Burlesque entertainment was exciting but we were bummed at the overall cost for the experience the first time around and we were unable to go. Fast forward to 2019, at an advertised social media summer special!!! (What a great deal!). We were in for a great treat. You enter the restaurant through these big golden doors and immediate i'm impressed. It's extremely dimmed inside as you enter towards the main entrance which leads around the corner to the restaurant. The ambiance is grand stunning and mysteriously sexy. The trimmings of this place has a lot of gold, chandeliers and on red revealing a sexy dungeon. We were seated and i must say the service was great. Our waitress was kind, patient and very helpful. We received a choice of three complimentary bottle of wine with the special. Each table was served with a small bowl of popcorn (for the show of course). We decided to go with appetizers. We started off the the calamari, lobster mac and cheese and later ordered the parmesan Brussel sprouts and truffle fries. Surprisingly we were full at the end. Everything was good and we were actually full. The burlesque show was from class box above the the bar area better screen on the upper level but still visible from the main floor. Some performances take place on the main level floor or on the bar area. There's also small tv screen available on the ground level to allow others to see the show per preference. The show was quite entertaining with a level of sophistication, class and skill. There's different performances throughout the dinner/night (every 15 to 30 minutes). Me and my friend really enjoyed the show and the food. I would recommend. read more

This isn't one of my favorite places to go to (mostly based on the price, but I also don't care for the food). I've been here a few times over the last several years, but during my most recent visit, it was for an event and they had a special menu for that night with the option to choose a-la carte from the regular menu. Having been here before and not being a fan of the menu choices, I didn't really care to try anything huge but since it was "required" to purchase an item from the menu because of the event, I ordered the truffle fries, which were delicious by the way. Are they worth $12?! Probably not... My friend had never been here and was starving. He wasn't sure what to get and asked our server if the entrees were regular sized or small plates (from our observation of other patrons' food being brought out). She assured him that it would be regular sized. He ordered the ravioli pasta, and I took a small bite and was disgusted. For $26, this was absurd and it wasn't much food on the plate (slightly more than a small plate, but certainly not a regular sized entrée). He was still hungry after we left the event. The place was also super dark and we were seated at the top level. I get that they are creating ambience and that romantic feel, but I'm glad I wasn't wearing heels or I could have tripped on my way to the restroom all the way on the lower level (so two sets of stairs). I'm guessing this place doesn't have an elevator (correct me if I'm wrong). There was an automatic service charge with our bill! So Sax isn't a place I'm ever thrilled to go to, but I was more so here for the event which was great and well supported. read more

Well, have no fear we Have our own Magic Mike dance show at Saks and it is everything you could want and more!! Beautifully buff men who can move every part of their body imaginable. The music is great and the service at the venue is superb! We were asked if we needed anything 10 times. The music is fast and furious. Everyone is up dancing. The bottomless mimosas were delicious. The food is forgettable, but no one is eating. Dancing,singing, and pure entertainment is what you will see. The two hours passes in the snap of a fingers. This is a strictly 21 and over place even if your coming just for dinner. There policy has been updated a little. On Friday nights there is no minimum about of money that you need to spend. Saturday has a $75 dollar minimum. Valet parking is $12 Now that we got the black and white info finished let's get on with this review. First time here And really enjoyed myself. Had a 7pm reservation and the place was half way full. Very comfortable environment and the wait staff was very friendly. Every 10-15 mins little performances would happen, all had there own twist. The best deal on the menu is there $40 3 course prefix. It comes with a glass of wine or champagne. The blackberry salad was the best!!! Good size portion and if needed you could have made it into an entree. The coconut cake was very similar to a tres leches. It was a sponge cake, soaked, layered with whip cream. Ok let me start off by saying The SIR show on Sunday is 5 stars all the way!! The men are gorgeous,the choreography is Fantabulous, the music is for everybody, the atmosphere is beautiful and the vibe is top top-notch. I had sooooooo much fun celebrating my pre-birthday with my girl friends. They aim to please the ladies. Our waiters Montey and Byron were so awesome. They truly added the extra enjoyment shared by all at our table. The 3 star rating comes from the food. You're given a pre-fixed menu for the 2 hour show. The only thing I ate off that menu was the kale salad. The kale salad had a delicious vinaigrette with dried pineapple pieces on top. I could have had a plate of that and been more then satisfied. They do provide you with bottomless mimosas which are tasty and truly bottomless until about 20mons before the show ends. The food is served small plate style. I really think that they could have kept the menu simple with a fruit and cheese start, some mini Belgian waffles, Benedict's or crepes, small salad (keep the kale salad) and then finish with one of those mini desserts like a Tiramisu or strawberry short cake. The show and the ambiance were worth the price of admission but it would have been nice to have a descent brunch to go along with it. read more

My best friend started her bachelorette night here at Sax. This was such a different and cool spin on dinner and a show. They had a glass box stage and had performers in there entertaining us about every 5 minutes. I had the calamari, surf and turf burger, lobster Mac n cheese, beef empanadas, truffle fries as well as a drink that came in a pineapple. The food was excellent aside for the shrimp being mildly over cooked. The burger was so flavorful as well as the calamari. That calamari was honestly one of the best I've had around! The beef empanadas were shockingly bomb. That might have been my lowkey favorite appetizer it was amazing. The drink was decent but for $30 I expected a little more punch. The staff at SAX needs to learn the definition of hospitality. Better yet, they need to go back to hospitality school. We used to go to SAX several years ago until their shows became tasteless and raunchy. Then, we recently heard they rebranded their image as a legit supper club, so we decided to try them again. When we arrived, the place only had a few diners and the bar area that they call a "fast bar" but had no bartender in sight. So, we sat down at one of the tables to wait for a bartender to show up and watch the show that started. A service staff (if you can even call her that) walked up to us ask asked if we had a reservation. We said, we didn't, but that we wanted to grab a drink. She immediately dismissed us and said we cannot sit in that area because the party who reserved it was about to arrive any minute now. Well, as evidenced by my photos below, it had been over an hour and no one had occupied the area where we were sitting. The bar downstairs was never staffed and we were told we needed to go to the upstairs bar to be served drinks. The bartender was the only hospitable person in that entire establishment. Also, when we moved to the other side of the restaurant, this time with our drinks in hand, we were approached yet again by someone who looked like he could be the manager. Rather than offer us a seating where we could enjoy our drinks, he simply told us that we cannot sit at that particular table. This place was a waste of visit. They were rude and dismissive. They ought to take a page out of Stephen Starr's book when it comes to excellence in service and talent in the restaurant industry. Which, by the way, was where we headed after our time at this wannabe, overpriced, superficial supper club. read more

*Review for SIR Sunday *Highly recommend bringing cash for the dancers/staff Booked my birthday event with 4 of my girlfriends and had an absolute blast! I received an email a couple days prior to the event date to confirm seating. Arrived 20 minutes prior to 2pm and there was a fairly decent line. 1 line is for VIP ticket holders and the other line, standard ticket holders. Make sure to bring your ID and ticket/phone confirmation. The venue itself is absolute lush and extravagant. Red velour, dark lighting, gold paint - just very beautiful. My group was seated on the 2nd floor in the middle 2nd row (con: we were not able to see the shows going on the first floor, had to stand to view, pro: the shows going in their glass box were best view). Venue is 2 floors, 1st floor with bar and seating throughout. 2nd floor is seating on 3 sides and last side is their stage (behind glass). The prix fixe brunch menu was on point. I chose the avocado toast. Our oj mimosas and cranberry mimosas were consistently filled. Hookah available. Service and shows were fantastic! read more

This is a very special place... so special your gonna pay for it. Each an every letter of it. "S"- that's gonna cost you 10 bucks "P"-that's gonna cost you 20 "E"- that's gonna cost you an arm "C"- and theres your leg You get the point. It is a very unique place, I wouldn't necessarily say "MY personal digs", but I did have fun while I was there. The prices are just kinda insane. We were throwing a Bachelorette party for one of our coworkers and brought in some cupcakes. The waitress told us that there was a cake fee for bringing in outside food. The cake fee was $5.00.......................per cake. So she told us that we literally (in the most literal sense) had to pay 30 dollars extra for the 6 cupcakes we just brought from Georgetown cupcake... (I think not). Considering the cupcakes were 16 dollars at Georgetown (which is already a lot for cupcakes) #TrendingPrices - we would be dropping 46 dollars on 6 cupcakes. The waitress obviously didn't do anything wrong. It was the establishment, and you could tell by everything they did there that they were price gauging. 16 dollars for a cocktail? 20 dollars for a ramekin of "crab fondue" which was 90 percent cheese- 10 percent crab. We decided to get the "lobster burger" which the waitress told us was held together by a mix of scallops and shrimp. Because the flavors of scallops and shrimp are much more powerful than that of lobster, it tasted like a shrimp scallop burger ( WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING), but hence I feel it must be renamed. You name it a lobster burger so you can charge 25 dollars for it. I also got to taste the braised short rib which was fall apart tender, but unfortunately did not have any flavor and was a little dry. Lets talk about the highlights. The burlesque show that was happening above the bar was very entertaining and the dancers were very skilled. The diver scallops on the scallop dish were cooked perfectly and VERY tasty. The accompanying risotto was very good. The waitress was very very good and attentive and the manager even came over and introduced himself and he was very nice and professional as well. I think this place would do much better to offer a few specials if they're gonna insist on the high prices for the menu. Also, if you're paying such premiums you expect perfection in the food. Started my birthday count down at Sax for the Sir Sunday brunch and it was very entertaining. High energy, great music playing and the staff was friendly and very interactive. However, the menu lacked in variety. The menu seemed like it was for a continental breakfast and not a brunch. The best thing on the menu was the Kale salad, I could have had a whole plate of the salad. Definitely eat before, go for the show, the eye candy and good time out with your girlfriends but not the brunch. I've gone for dinner at Sax and it was delicious. If you've never been before skip the brunch and go for dinner instead. read more

Do you remember Paula Abdul's "Cold-hearted Snake" video? My best friend and I used to be absolutely obsessed with it. A pre-teen's fascination with provocative dance, fishnets and a captain's hat seems pretty normal right? The dry humping, the writhing on the floor, the lifts? (Totally still talking about dancing, kids.) Anyway, the performance sets here take me back to those days. Kind of scandalous, but not really. Sax overall is able to deliver sexiness, even without the bump and grind. The interior is splashed with reds and golds, and although I cannot recall specifically...there has got to be some velvet up in there! The majority of my visits have been for special events, when I've been able to take in a complimentary cocktail or two, but more recently I joined a group for dinner and truly enjoyed myself. Yes - the food is overpriced. That's obvious. But the small plates we gave a try were pretty tasty and in this environment, I understand that I'm also paying for the ambiance as well as the entertainment. I also once had a little credit card mishap here and I was impressed with the way it was handled. A charge of almost double my receipt that I signed appeared on my statement, so I gave them a call. I spoke with a manager that was happy to look into the issue and informed me that they would be in contact with me the very next day. They made sure to follow-up in a timely manner and happily made the adjustment, making my life just that much easier. This is a great option for ladies night! You won't be swamped by creepers and can most likely enjoy the space, entertainment and company. read more

I've been here a few times for fancy cocktails and really enjoy the ambiance and the performances. I recently went for their Sir Sax brunch and it was a trip! The "gentleman dancers" were very friendly, attentive, and put on a good show. Very entertaining! The food was surprisingly decent too and they kept the drinks flowing. read more

We called in advance and were not told about USD 75 minimum consumption (only that they hold your reservation with a credit card). Went to the bar first and paid 32 USD for a gin & tonic and a Campari on ice. Nuts. The artists were good and entertaining and our Ukrainian waitress was very friendly and attentive (5 stars for the artists and her!). The food was mixed: Brie and shrimp were nice, as were the lamb chops, but the ribeye was fatty and chewy. The wine was ok, but quite pricey at USD 16 a glass. But when the bill came we got the next surprise: they automatically charge 20% gratuity on Fridays and Saturdays! Without any warning! Sax management: you need to be much more TRANSPARENT about your pricing policy. We will not come back because we felt ripped off. read more

My review is based on Sir Sunday Brunch. I got a VIP ticket on sale (wait until one week before your brunch to buy your ticket as they offer discount codes closer to the event). My brunch started at 2PM and it's recommended you get there at 1:30PM. I got there at 2 LOL but had no issues checking in and getting my table. I think they do a seating chart prior to guests arriving so it works out. A pitcher full of mimosa was brought to my table and eventually one of the very attractive male dancers (hey boo) came over to take our orders. I'll be honest the food is NOT anything to write about. We eventually got our shots that were included in the ticket and a bottle of champagne, orange juice, and cranberry juice to make our own drinks. BAYBEE the men are fine! I enjoyed the performances as well as table dances. Bring plenty of ones to stuff into your dancers... well you know. Ok that's enough. I wouldn't recommend coming here solely for the food. The experience was well worth the ticket cost. read more
