After some encouragement from my wife to try it, we finally made it to this diner. The last time I ate at this 'diner car' style restaurant it was owned by a different owner and wasn't very good. Not so now! The Diner Combo breakfast I ordered was very tasty, with two perfectly cooked over-medium eggs, thick bacon and whole breakfast potatoes, which were great. But the star of the show was their biscuits and gravy. Two medium size but super fluffy biscuits covered with some of the best gravy you'll find in Delaware or anywhere for that matter. Our server said it was the owner's grandmother's recipe and I believe it! This is a small diner so it may seem a bit cramped at times but that's to be expected but it seemed very clean. This is not the place to go if you're in a hurry, and they're upfront about it. However, a little patience pays off here with some top quality diner food and service, and I will be back. read more

Went here for a business breakfast and ordered the corned beef hash. Was expecting hash, not full potatoes, but that being said it really was good. Topped it with some hot sauce and ketchup on the side and I was good to go. Really like this place! read more

We came in about 11:15am for a late breakfast. Our first time here. We weee promptly seated and our drink order was taken and delivered in a timely manner. After a short time our waitress came and took our order, she was very pleasant. 11:30am - no food 11:45am - no food 12:00noon - no food, people around us are leaving, new coming in. 12:15pm - waitress comes to our table and tells us that "the machine" misprinted our order, our food should be out shortly. I'm sorry but this is very suspect to me, everybody else's orders were printed correctly and how does a machine misprint unless the operator mis-entered? When the food came it was good, but an extremely long wait, would have preferred to have just been told the truth....giving a rating of four but 3.5 is how I feel. read more

Can't believe I haven't left a review for this place yet..Lol.. My midnight crew from work and I would try and visit weekly on Fridays..well we all went to different shifts and that ended. So when my hubby and I go for breakfast we always forget this place. Not today!! Stopped in and were seated right away. The atmosphere is like 50's diner on the outside and inside. Red leather seats and old signs and the black and white check floor. I ordered the Breakfast fries but instead of fries I had them add their potatoes. Talk about yum! The eggs over hard on top of them with their gravy and the cheese chunks.. then I get some of their sourdough toast which is to die for. My hubby even ordered the same as I did and loved it as well. He even ordered a stack of pancakes which were light and fluffy. They have daily specials and a case full of goodies when you check out too. read more

We went on Monday around 1pm. This was our first time - we've driven by so many times but this time we saw cars and stopped for lunch. Very clean restaurant. All the food was freshly made - French fries were fresh cut and ranch dip was amazing! Burgers were great, different options to choose from. Plenty of food. We will be back again! read more

Do not judge a book by its cover. This diner is a classic gem and a wonderful family-friendly foodie destination! The food is hearty and made with TLC. The space is very clean and well-taken care of. The is a ton of parking in the front and back. From the fresh coffee, to the fresh fluffy biscuits with gravy, all the way down to the potatoes, fresh fruit and blueberry zucchini bread, everything was tasty and delicious! We visited on a Saturday morning. I got the sausage and bacon hash, my husband got the brussel sprout breakfast, and my children got a waffle and a pancake respectively. My meal was greasy and I stopped eating it after 2 to 3 bites. It came with whole potatoes and there was maybe 3 pieces of sausage in the whole thing. Unfortunately, the waitress dumped an entire cup of ice cold water with ice cubes all over me and my 4 year old. It was an unfortunate accident, but our pants, shirts, and shoes were all soaking wet. Our waitress brought us towels to dry off. She did scream when she dumped the water, which caused the entire diner to stop and stare. I was completely mortified. I understand that accidents can and do happen, but I can't imagine soaking a 4 year old with cold water (and her Mom!) And seeing someone didn't even eat their meal and then not giving any sort of discount off that bill. After paying $60 (!!!) we left and my 4 year old walked out with soaking wet pants, shoes, and shirt. I still gave this place 2 stars because my husband and my child who didn't get soaking wet had an enjoyable meal. We will not be back. read more

I had my first opportunity to visit this location. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the old diner type car. The service was great and while I did not eat one, the deserts on the show case looked amazing. My only concern was price. I am not sure how a grilled chicken sandwich substituting a salad for the fries ends up costing $20.00. If your going, be sure you understand the price. I have been by this diner many times on my way to Marion and they always seemed closed. I was finally in the area for the breakfast/lunch hours and this place definitely isn't closed. They were hopping with customers! Their menu looked good and wanting to try a new place we went to Eclectic for breakfast. The service was kind of slow and our server was abrupt but I think that is because she was so busy. The food was delicious though! The breakfast potatoes were yummy! I ate everything. We got slices of pie to go. I got the peanut butter pie. The slice was large. It was creamy and flavorful. I am glad I got to finally try Eclectic and will be back. Came across this beauty by accident. Couldn't believe they had gluten free options. Had some decadent gluten free maple deliciousness French toast. Husband had biscuits and gravy and a traditional breakfast. Had gluten free zucchini blueberry bread to take home. So good. Takes a bit long to get food but we went when busy. Update-just tried the GF zucchini blueberry bread and it was amazing! My husband, who is able to eat gluten, also loved this bread. It was moist and not grainy like a lot of GF foods. I went to this restaurant for the first time today. The server, Lindsay greeted me, suggested items on the menu and was very friendly and attentive. I had breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the Yukon Gold breakfast potatoes were different and tasty. The blueberry zucchini bread was moist and delicious. They did not skimp on the blueberries. There was a constant flow of diners. One thing that I found unique and very pleasant: I could see five tables, 10 diners from where I sat. Not one of them had their heads stuck in a cell phone. People were conversing and giving eye contact. That is refreshing and rare these days. I am told that the majority of the food served is made from scratch and when possible is locally sourced. The server, Lindsay, really made my experience special. I will return and I suggest you give it a try. read more

But, the inside was definitely old school and comfy. The staff was pleasant but not too attentive. There was only 1 waitress and not much other staff. We waited almost a full hour to get in and then nearly 30 minutes to get our food. There was nothing special about the meal. I got the diner special, eggs, sausage, potatoes, and sausage gravy. It was bland and tasted cheap. When you go to the register, there's nothing cheap about your bill, though....almost $50 for 2 people to eat breakfast. Best breakfast in town! The staff are friendly and fast. The menu is good old comfort food. Eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, waffles, OJ, hot fresh coffee. I've been several times and never disappointed. Family friendly. It is a Diner so don't expect the appearance of a 5 star restaurant. My only complaint is they are not open on Sundays and they close at 3:00pm daily. The sweets offered are not too varied but I'm always too full to order desert. read more

The food is definitely eclectic and delicious. I've had the hashes and omelets and they were outstanding. On my last visit (yesterday) I had a zucchini quinoa burger at the suggestion of the waitress who highly recommended it despite the fact she really doesn't care for zucchini. The staff is always friendly and efficient. They treat everybody like a regular and you feel welcome. The place has a diner atmosphere where you feel at home. As a kicker, I decided to get some dessert to take home since my wife had to work and wasn't able to accompany my granddaughter, daughter, and me this time. I LOVED this place!!!!!!! I loved this place so much I'm trying to figure out how soon I can get back. I went for lunch. The customer service was exceptionally amazing. Seriously. Brandy was our waitress and was so good at explaining food items we asked about. I didn't get the girls name who took our tickets at the end, but she was also really kind! Even the cook said thanks for coming in as we left! I had the seasonal beet and goat cheese salad with freshly made raspberry vinaigrette. The chef makes her own pickled beets and the greens are fresh, not from a bag--you can tell. They make their own garlicky croutons and they were crispy and chewy. Perfect.
