I've always "dined in" at the Westerville Grill and this was my first time trying takeout. I called in with my order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. It took me just about 15 minutes to walk there and my order was ready and waiting. The ladies working the counter asked if I needed any utensils, extra napkins, etc. They were most helpful. I ordered a BLT with fries and everything was as good as I expected. So, Westerville Grill is not only good for DINE-IN but also a great choice for TAKE-OUT. read more

Great staff, cute diner, and good food! We tried the Westerville Grill on Christmas Eve and enjoyed their award-winning diner decor, friendly waiters, and breakfast food. We got the Westerville omelet with an extra blueberry pancake, the traditional eggs benedict, and the chorizo and hash. I really enjoyed the flavor of the eggs benedict and would highly recommend it. All the food was freshly prepared and didn't taste heavy (overly fatty). Everyone enjoyed their food, but I would recommend their pancakes and the eggs benedict the most. read more

This has been here 10-15 years but somehow I never made it in. I'd been to one of the previous iterations, but not this one. I was missing out. Came right at noon on a weekday, afraid it would be busy. It was maybe half full, plenty of parking spots, steady but not crazy. Service was excellent. Very kid-friendly, bringing crayons, making suggestions, talking to K. And to us, and great in general, but it's always nice when they're aware of kids' needs. K got French toast with bacon, and a side of mac. The waitress warned it was "fancy mac," with five cheeses, and you never know how kids will react to that. She loved it. I tried it and also loved it. But it is not going to be for every kid, so maybe get yourself a side and let them taste, first visit anyway. Mom got mush. Bob Evans doesn't have it anymore, and we haven't found it anywhere else. It was a small serving of Jaxon-type mush roll, but fried up nicely. I got my own order and liked it. Plus I got a bowl of chili. I was leery of the description, but it was a very good homemade chili. Not the style I make (it had beans, and a few carrots) but very meaty, tasty (though not at all spicy.) and thick. Classic diner atmosphere and food. Lots of other stuff on the menu that I'd like to try. We will definitely be back. read more

Love love love! So welcoming and yummy! Stopped by with my husband and daughter for a quick bite! I asked if I could get their spicy burrito as an omelette and they were happy to do it! It came it potatoes and toast and a yummy 3 egg omelette! My daughter got the kids pancake(which was huge) and some bacon and fruit! Everything was delicious everyone was so kind. There were a lot of regulars there which is so telling of why! I originally planned to get a slice of pie because they serve pies from Just Pies. Only hard part was I was stuffed! It was delicious, the burger was cooked well, but not dry with the dressing. The fries were fresh hand cut. I did order a slice of buckeye pie from Just Pies. This was the show stopper!!! This place does not have good food, tasteless, dry food. I ordered corn beef hash for breakfast served it a whole potato and rubbery meat on top. I love the old pictures on the walls and great selection of old songs on the radio they play. I stopped by the Westerville Grill, a charming diner on the main drag in Westerville. They offer all-day breakfast as well as lunch fare later in the day. The place looks small, but there's a good amount of seating inside and on an enclosed patio. I tried the chorizo hash. It came with 3 eggs and toast for about $12 - not a bad value these days. The potatoes and eggs were cooked nicely, though the chorizo tasted just like regular sausage, not that there's anything wrong with that. Service was fast and friendly. read more

As someone that has grown up in Westerville and been to the Westerville Grill 4-5 times there are some pros and cons to it. I will start with the good. The patio is adorable and a great place to enjoy a meal with friends and in the summer it's very lovely. The service is also wonderful as well. It's very affordable and has some menu choices that are on the healthier side. My sister in law had the pesto chicken sandwich and said it was really good! Having said that, my food has always been edible, but never really good. It's almost perplexing. Today I had pancakes with chocolate chips and with a lot of butter and syrup they weren't bad, but they literally had three cups of syrup, butter, and chocolate chips, and still tasted slightly idk musty? But they were definitely an improvement over the plain ones I've had in the past. The service and patio really is nice so next time hopefully I will have better luck with the chicken pesto sandwich too! read more

It's a small space but the turn things over quickly so don't let the space or a slight wait put you off. Inside is a cozy and lovely spot filled with cool vintage ads and a mix of the neighborhood. Sadly, my prior 5-star rating and rave about this place have been overshadowed by the mediocre food and terrible service today. The staff acted like two adults, and two kids were a nuisance to them. I overlooked not getting everything we ordered, but when the girl who took forever to finally bring the check and then pick it up, instead of bringing it back to me to sign, tapped on the front counter and said, "Here it is," as if I were some type of dog. If you dislike your job that much, work somewhere else. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this location to anyone, especially to the cycling community that passes through Westerville daily. read more

The daily specials are not correct. We came in on a Thursday specifically for the Thursday Special that is listed on the website as Sloppy Joe for $8.49 and comes with one side. When we arrived the server told us that they don't do that anymore. I really had my heart set on that sloppy joe, oh well! I ordered a kids pb&j with a side of fruit. They didn't have juice so I provided one of our own juice boxes. The fruit was a terrible mix of fruits that weren't fresh and my child wouldn't eat. I didn't like it either. The pb&j was good though. I ordered the lunch Meatloaf sandwich (hot) and a side of smashed potatoes. The veggies on the sandwich looked awesome but the meatloaf was strange looking and didn't taste good at all. The smashed potatoes tasted off and the gravy on top looked awful. I was unable to finish my side as it didn't look or taste good. Overall this was not a great experience and I cannot recommend anything we ate. The breakfast photos from other users look good so maybe I'll come back and try that out someday. read more

When we walked in we were met with warm smells of breakfast and coffee, the sun shining through the large windows helped to add a cozy touch, we were greeted with a warm welcome and encouraged us to sit wherever we'd like. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed with the food. Brought my mom and nephews this time and they all agreed. Everything is homemade even the sausage it seems. I got the chorizo hash and . The kids chicken tenders were a huge portion and hand battered. Mom's meatloaf sandwich was falling out of the bread it was so big. Mac and cheese was al dente and not the soggy mess you get from a preprepared batch. It has several different cheeses and looked like it was put together by order. Got biscuits and gravy definitely up charge from what online said they were horrible. Told the biscuits were big. They're little the home. Fries have no flavoring no onions no seasoning whatsoever. They were served cold when I asked for more. Server got them, but just kind of pass by and put them on my table never came back to ask if they were better! Walked in as one person you're not allowed to sit at the four top. If you have at least probably three people there's no one in here. It's not gonna fill up believe me. It's better to make the customer happy where they sit! If I can keep one person from going to this place, I'll be happy. read more

It's very small so if you dont like tight spaces this is not the place for you; especially on a busy weekend when every table is full. Westerville Grill is one gem hidden in plain sight. It's much better than any usual greasy spoon. The one reason is it's not all that greasy. It has a few healthy options. The service is down home friendly and there's a nice patio. It has the usual stuff for breakfast. It also has some if the not so usual. There's favorites like pancakes, sausage, waffles. Any amateur run diner would have these. However there's a few surprises lurking among the artery cloggers, like things made out of tofu. Among the healthiest things you glean get on the menu is the tofu scramble. It comes with hash browns and toast. As with most items it's not expensive. It's about $8, which is a cheap way to start the day with a hearty feast. If you're in Westerville in the morning stop here. It's not incredibly busy in the middle of the week so you have time to pop in and sit on the patio and get a good view of the city. The service is not too fast but not slow, and there's some healthy lunch choices too. read more

Our waitress did not come to check on us after the food was brought out. She did not refill our drinks. My husband and I both got a Reuben, cheese fries to share and a salad. The salad was the standard side. The cucumbers were a little brown so I plucked them off. Their bleu cheese dressing is great. The cheese fries are like fair fries with melted shredded cheese. We got bacon added. They were good. The Reubens sadly came out cold, and if you like thin sliced corn beef, do not order this sandwich. It's sliced thick and kind of hard to bite into. But, overall a good sandwich. I would have given this a higher rating, but the food was cold and the waitress wasn't around to care enough to get it fixed. read more

I had the dumbest experience ever here. I walked in to be seated with someone to join me in 10 minutes. They wouldn't seat me until my guest arrived. My one guest will not affect the table they will give me. I explained that if my guest should happen to not show, I am staying either way. Still would not seat me. There were eleven out of thirteen tables open inside. They said they wouldn't seat me because the place can fill up on two minutes. Expect a classic diner-get a classic diner. If you've been to one of 'em you've seen them all, but this one has better desserts than most. We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Every diner should offer a great cup of coffee and they do. Check. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with "eggs any way on top." Okay, this may not be a fair comparison, but last weekend I was at Skillet for breakfast and I ordered this same combo and it rocked my world. The most awesome breakfast I've had in a looong time. The eggs were hidden under sausage gravy wonderfulness. When I saw the eggs on the menu here as an add-on to the biscuits and gravy I was sold. I was really shocked when I got overcooked eggs served on a plate which came out ahead of my biscuits and gravy. It wasn't what was advertised not did the presentation look all that great. Everything was hot, but when I dug in the eggs were overcooked and the biscuits were a bit dry. All-and-all it was mediocre. Do yourself a favor and get a piece of pie before you leave. That's the best part! We shared a piece of banana cream pie and it was terrific! As a side note, the three star rating had as much to do with the average food as it did with the service that killed the nice experience near the end of our meal. Our waitress seemed nice enough, but near the end of our meal rather than asking us if we needed anything else, a refill on our coffee or a piece of pie, and by this time we had spent a lot of time negotiating about which piece of pie we'd share, she just gave us each a check. She simply said, "no rush." And that was that. So I asked for a piece of pie to share. Needless to say breakfast that morning was going to be my treat for the two of us. When she gave us two checks and split the cost of the piece of pie right down the middle on each one. This really put a damper on the last part of the meal. I had to fight with my friend for her check and if our waitress had just asked us what we'd like to do and not incorrectly assume what we wanted, we could have had an enjoyable end to our meal. read more
