It's a solid NO for me. The employees are super sweet and friendly and kind and we let them know it was our first time and they gave us some recommendations. They also told us the special for the day! We got a smash burger and a pork chop dinner! BOTH WAS NASTY! NO SEASONING at all!!!! and his asparagus was tasteless! He said it taste burnt! My fries we're really good! And my burger was so sloppy it fell apart I couldn't even eat it! I was turned off! TOO MUCH MEAT AND TOPPINGS NOT ENOUGH BREAD! Sad to say we didn't wanna be rude so we took the food and threw it away outside the restaurant. Our bill was $40 and we did tip. There were alot of flys and this dinner is really small! Maybe about 10 tables tops! Small little town and we got to learn a little about the town from the landmarks out front which were pretty cool! Will be be back NO, was the customer service good YES! Went there for breakfast. Had the biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash and eggs, and Kentucky breakfast with bacon. It was average at best. Especially for the large price. The hash was...meh. Kind of over cooked and not a lot of flavor. Is burned a flavor? The gravy was abysmal. Sour. What's up with that? Sour sausage gravy? Do they use buttermilk or something? Whatever their recipe is, throw it out and start over. The atmosphere was decent and our waitress was friendly. That's about the only reason they're getting two stars. read more

I wish I could give 4.5 stars. We went on a Sunday around 11 for breakfast and there was a 20-minute wait, so obviously a popular spot. The service was attentive and helpful - our server gave suggestions of the most popular dishes (anything with the gravy). We got a ham and cheese omelette with home fries and the chicken and biscuit benny (fried chicken on a biscuit with chipotle hollandaise sauce, home fries). The food was great, the home fries nice and crispy. The ambiance is nice, what you would expect for a diner. I want to go back and try the breakfast bowl - eggs, home fries, bacon covered in gravy. I ordered Cesar's Hash (Short Rib Hash) with wheat toast, and honestly? Solid choice. The short rib was great, the toast did its job, and the potatoes were the real MVP -- crispy, cooked perfectly, and basically the Beyoncé of the plate. I should have specified how I wanted my eggs cooked. That's on me. Over medium is my go-to, but I must've blacked out from hunger and forgot. It happens. The coffee? And let me tell you: this place was incredibly busy at 8:10 AM. Like, "half the town decided pancakes were urgent" busy. But the staff handled it like pros. Before heading out, I grabbed breakfast for the tribe: Kentucky Special (eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy over biscuits), also known as "the plate that could feed Kentucky." We arrived at 10:45 AM on Sunday and waited 15 minutes. When we were finally seated at a cramped two-top, I asked to move to one of the two available four-tops for a bit more space. I was told a flat "no" because those were reserved for larger groups. However, seconds after sitting down, I watched the host seat a walk-in party of two, who weren't even on the waitlist, at that exact four-top. The inconsistency and lack of basic service were disappointing. We left immediately and won't be back. We wanted to support a local small business, but we'll be taking our support elsewhere. read more

This is a somewhat traditional diner with a menu that leans towards comfort or diner type food. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, and we were the only ones there! Our server was super nice, and the food came out quick. Important note - they do not do breakfast all day, so keep that in mind. Galena Diner is hands down my favorite local spot to eat! I usually get the turkey melt every time as it's my favorite! It's so good and the fries are good. I sometimes try out the specials and I've also tried some soups. Nothing has disappointed me. I also always grab a slice of the chocolate dream cake! So good!! You walk in and get seated by a waitress, they're always quick and friendly. The place is small but it has such a small town vibe to it that makes it really nice. I heard a few people recommend this place, and I didn't have high expectations. For a diner I think it's great! I came for lunch and ordered the fish sandwich with fries and coleslaw. I was pleasantly surprised by the fish, it's not your typical frozen fish sandwich. I enjoyed it! The coleslaw doesn't seem stir bought but pretty fresh. My husband ordered the pancakes. Everything I ask for in a diner. Diner often means(read in your moms voice or a friends mom when you were a kid) "mom, I'm hungry" "What do you want?" "I don't know. Pizza" "We don't have pizza I'll make you a sandwich" "Uh, ok I was hoping maybe...." "Do you want the sandwich or not ?" "Sure" "Ok sit down and don't make a mess" That's a diner. This wasn't that. This was a lovely young lady smiling and asking how my day was going. Then checking back in quickly with some water. Then allowing me to ask her to choose. Then the cook looking back to make sure I enjoyed it. And it was quick. And it was delicious. And I'm sitting in the truck thinking about how good it was. My water even came with a lemon. I'm good and will be back. Did I mention the bathroom was spotless and had very nicely displayed little decor on the shelf. Yeah. I'll be back. read more

I've been to a lot of breakfast diners in the area but this one, wasn't worth the wait. Our family of three attempted to come here probably 5 times in the span of a year, only to be told there would be an over 30 min wait, each time. We are used to just heading over to the coffee vault next door for some yummy sandwiches. We really wanted to give the always-crowded Galena Diner a shot since it seemed like all the locals rave about it. So we agreed to wait for 30 mins for a table. We were pretty disappointed, and wish we wouldn't have wasted our time. Nothing really wowed us- food was very bland. Price point was more like a restaurant chain rather than a hometown diner, a bit pricey for what you get: The corned beef hash tasted like the can of hash you buy at Aldi. The build your own omelet was not really an omelette at all- more like super thin, bland eggs wrapped around your toppings. It was... unusual. My son got the Mickey pancake and it really didn't look like Mickey, and just was accompanied by 1 sausage link, leaving him wanting more. I really wanted this place to wow me- but it just wasn't a place I'd return to. Bummer! read more

First time here and had a great experience. Cozy diner with comfortable seating. Upon entering there's a few steps however there's a door to the left which one can enter that's street level. Hubby ordered corn beef hash with two eggs and English muffin ( his choice). I ordered Eggs Benedict with sautéed spinach, tomatoes and bacon with side of fried potatoes. Scratch cooking at its finest. The place is small but I felt a sense of comfortableness in the air. I ordered a bowl of Nick's Chili. It came hot with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkled with cheddar cheese. It was served with a packet of oyster crackers, but I was asked whether I would like more packets, so sure, I got one more. That's very thoughtful of them. The chili had a nice balance of ingredients and the right amount of spice. My husband ordered one of the specials: pork loin with mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus with a rosemary mushroom cream sauce. Mmm, he said it was delicious. There were a bunch of dessert choices, made from a bakery in Westerville, so we took a piece of cherry pie home. The crust was a little white, but the filling was good. We will come back and try more dishes like the Broasted Gerber Chicken and sit in the room to the right of the front door that looked more private. read more

We've seen this place for the past few months as we took the girls to soccer. They've wanted to try it so we finally went. The place is very low key and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Last week, after riding the Heart of Ohio bike trail, my wife and I stopped in for lunch at the Galena Diner. We both ordered dinner salads which were large, fresh and VERY good! We looked around and saw several people had ordered the fish & chips----WOW! It made us wish that we'd ordered that, instead-----HUGE portion of fish with, what appeared to be, a goodly amount of hot, freshly cut fries. We noticed that their Thursday evening "Blue Plate Special" is PRIME RIB. This being one of my favorite foods we decided to plan on going back on a Thursday evening to give it a try. Tonight was the night that we decided to go back. WOW!!!! We were MAJORLY impressed. The asparagus was roasted and seasoned to PERFECTION, the BAKED (not mice-waved!) potato was buttered and had a small amount of sour cream on it (perhaps could have used just a bit more of each) and the prime rib was OUT OF THIS WORLD----nice sized portion, medium rare and seasoned just right. The meat was so tender I could cut it with my fork! We ordered a slice of Hummingbird cake (a lovely spice cake) to take home. The service was as we had found it to be during our lunch visit: pleasant and attentive (but not overly so). We have decided we're going try to make it out to the Galena Diner fairly regularly----it's DEFINITELY worth the trip! read more

Ordered lunch take out for my partner and me. I had the grouper sandwich Caribbean jerk with island slaw and fries. It was fresh and flavorful. Next time I'd order the slaw on the side since the bun was soggy upon arrival home. He had the bologna sandwich hold the mustard with fries and he enjoyed it though he will order it with lettuce and tomato next time. I really enjoy this place and my favorite entree was the broasted chicken. I arrived today to find it has been pulled from the menu. Was told cost and staffing were factors. It is a shame. My wife wanted the club and was told it is no longer on the menu either. They could fix that but the cost was $21. Way too much for a sandwich that just last week was around $13. I did not knock the rating due to this because this is still a great place to eat. We just may not be coming as often as we have. read more

The food is always top notch. They put a bistro twist on traditional diner fare that is delicious and beautifully presented. What are my go-to dishes? I love their house salad with the almonds and lovely mixed greens, and their chicken tenders are juicy and flavorful - I get them with honey mustard - so yummy! I've eaten here a number of times and it's always great! It's on the smaller side but everything moves quickly. For breakfast I've had the Chicken n' Biscuit Benny: poached eggs, fresh biscuit, hand breaded chicken tenders, chipotle honey hollandaise, home fries. The chicken tenders are seasoned well and crispy. The biscuit is super yummy. As good as this version is, I think I like Kimmy's Benedict better: poached eggs, English muffin, grilled tomatoes, hollandaise, sautéed spinach and bacon, fruit bowl. I just love grilled tomatoes on/with eggs Benedict. I asked for the bacon on the side. The hollandaise sauce is very rich with just a little tang. The fruit bowl is impressive! Pieces of watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, pineapple, orange, banana, strawberries, etc. There are usually multiple specials - waffle, pancake, bread, etc. The strawberry bread and the pecan roll are both delicious and even better grilled. With regards to lunch/dinner, the chicken tenders are amazing with the honey mustard. Their honey mustard is good with everything. The house salad is mixed lettuces, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, parmesan, sea salt almonds, and croutons. Again, the honey mustard on the salad..... amazing. The almonds in the salad are such a nice texture and flavor. The broasted chicken is really good too! read more

I absolutely love this place. The servers are all super sweet, the prices are fair, and the food is great. My go-to from here is the breakfast bowl with a hot cup of coffee. The coffee is always hot and good, and someone is always there to refill your mug. The breakfast bowl always fills me up, and I cannot get enough of the sausage gravy.
