When Hanan and I first met, my 2 little ones were a little wild and couldn't sit still that morning. Hanan was patient with them and took her time with me. I felt very comfortable and wanted to hire her on the spot. She was so nice, knowledgeable and caring. I knew I didn't need to interview anyone else and she was the one I wanted to help me while I was delivering. My husband and I spoke that afternoon and I immediately let her know that we chose her! Anytime I had a question and yes it could have been a silly question she always answered. She gave us a recap on a class in our home and it was nice to go over things that I forgot or may have not known from my previous 2. She made me and my husband feel comfortable and looked forward to delivering baby. I ended up getting induced. Since my husband had to be with both kids and was going back and fourth between hospital and home, Hanan came shortly after labor and delivery checked me in. She was there every step of the way. I had no idea if I was going to have a non medicated labor or have an epidural. She provided me knowledge along the way. She kept my mind off contractions. She used techniques to help my contractions feel better. She was positive and kept cheering me on. When I got to 7 cm dilated I didn't think I could do it. She encouraged me and was my cheerleader. I got to 8 Cm dilated and I was freaking out. The pain was horrible. All I wanted to do at that point was to get an epidural but I knew I couldn't. I got this far and knew I had to finish up what I always wanted to do. Hanan was right there helping me try to feel comfortable. Again using different techniques and just being positive and calm. Next thing I knew I had to push. Hanan knew it was important to me to have my husband with me while baby was being born. She went out and got him and stayed with both of my kids while I pushed baby out. I am forever grateful to her for being there for us, helping me get through a non medicated labor , being positive and calm and being my cheerleader. She was an amazing doula and gave me a birth experience will never forget. One of the best birth experiences we have experienced. I would highly recommend Hanan to anyone asking about a doula. She truly is the best and know if you chose her you are in the best of hands.

My hope was that I would be able to labor at home most of the time and go to the hospital with just a little time before going into active labor and giving birth. We met a few times before - once before I hired her and once before my birth. She also was very open about answering all of my questions during our visits, but also was amenable to me reaching out to her separately via text or phone call to ask any additional questions or request information about any concerns I had during our contract. The day I went into labor - My contractions started at midnight and I contacted Madison despite the late hour. She was very nice and accepting of me reaching out and requested that I keep her updated as thing progressed. She offered to call me if I wanted that or she could just continue to text me back. For me, texting was easier because I could focus more on trying to stay relaxed in the dark. When my contractions progressed to the point that I thought it might be time to go to the hospital, she did ask if it'd be alright if she called me because she said it was easier to help me determine if it was time to go to the hospital based on how much contractions sounded and how close they were together. During that phone call, we confirmed that it was almost time. My husband took me to the hospital and Madison met us there. She arrived after I was admitted and in the labor room working through my contractions. Upon arrival, she helped me with breathing coaching (I didn't think I'd need this, but honestly it was really helpful in the moment to have someone help), offered me different tools to try and help work through the contraction pain (birthing combs, exercise ball, different contraction position suggestions, counter pressure on my back, helping me hold different positions as needed and explaining things to me in the moment. That really created a safe place for me to focus on labor knowing that I was safe and that I had people that supported me. Her attitude and approach to this also helped to set the tone for the nurses and my midwife who also were involved in my labor and delivery. My husband stepped back and let Madison take charge of certain things like positioning and breathing, but Madison stressed the entire time (before, during and after labor/delivery) that she would do whatever was needed to include my husband if he wanted to be included. As things progressed, Madison worked with the nurses and midwife to offer support and continued to explain things to me during labor and through the pushing phase. Her breath coaching, i cannot stress enough, was paramount in my ability to stay clam and focus on delivering the baby. I will absolutely hire her for future pregnancies and would highly recommend her to you as well. She has a calm and quiet demeanor. She listens and is open to all birthing plans (mine was unmedicated). She is willing to discuss all manner of topics and also offers additional services beyond her doula role. I really appreciated her ability to explain things as they were happening to me to ensure that my fully informed consent was always made a priority. Thank you for all your help, Madison. She really cares about us, and listens to our views and how we felt. She is really sincere and has the well being of the baby and the mom at top priority. Me and my wife decided to have a home birth. Amy helped us feel very capable and comfortable with the birth of our son in our home. And everything went very well. Her post natal care was very good, she didn't leave until both the mom and the baby were in good condition while she met their needs. We strongly recommend her Bradley Method class. It was very enjoyable and was really good to learn in preparation for our birth. Amy does a really good job teaching that class and uses lots of updated information, real world experiences, and realistic scenarios. Unfortunately, my experience with Amy as a midwife was deeply disappointing and, at times,…read moredistressing. While she was kind and personable during our prenatal visits, her support during my labor and birth fell far short of expectations. I have rewatched the 10 hours of footage from my labor and birth - so these are actual accounts and not just from my memory. Amy did not consistently show up when I needed her most. I was in labor for 31 hours before she arrived to stay. Although she checked on me briefly around the 12-hour mark, she was hesitant to return that evening and seemed bothered when asked. Despite living just five minutes away, she made it clear she didn't want to leave her equipment behind, citing how expensive it was, which felt inappropriate and untrusting, especially during such a vulnerable time. My doula had to convince her to leave her birth stool at my house before leaving for the night. Throughout the night and next morning, while my labor progressed, she remained largely unavailable. She mentioned needing to serve lunch at her child's school, which felt like a higher priority than my care. By the time she returned, 31 hours in, I was fully dilated. At that point, she spent a surprising amount of time disengaged, making tea and sitting on her phone rather than actively supporting me. When complications arose that Amy couldn't solve due to her inexperience, I was transferred to a birth center for a Vacuum extraction attempt, the situation became more traumatic. Her partner Kristy, whom I had never met before, was harsh and unsupportive, aggressively pushing me to continue despite my obvious exhaustion after 40+ hours of labor. Their bedside manner during this time was extremely lacking and added emotional stress to an already intense experience. The lack of communication and support continued well after the birth. After giving birth, Amy left the center first and then missed our scheduled 24-hour follow-up. I had to reach out to her myself, only to receive a vague response about a personal family issue that had come up, without any prior notice. When I asked her for guidance about jaundice, her text response was a single word: "breastfeeding." When I needed help breastfeeding because my newborn wasn't latching properly, she helped me for 5 min then gave me a card for a LC. When I raised my concerns, she responded by saying she thought I didn't want her there during labor because I had my doula, which was simply untrue and baffling. She repeatedly mentioned family obligations as reasons for her absence, which gave the impression that her priorities were elsewhere. Additionally, throughout our care, I felt judged for choosing a Hypnobirthing class over the Bradley method she preferred, and she made disparaging remarks about other clients, something I found unprofessional. This review isn't written lightly. I truly hope others can find a provider who is committed, present, and supportive when it matters most. Birth is an incredibly vulnerable experience, and everyone deserves a care team that shows up, physically, emotionally, and professionally. Amy - I'm happy to sit down and review the footage with you so you can see how poorly you showed up for me.
