Every single time I bring in an item either a spot they send it back pressed with the same untreated spot. Awful! Furthermore, and wildly more importantly, they systematically charge more for the same item of clothing if it is worn by a woman than they do for a man. I was plainly asked if a shirt was mine or my husband's. When I asked why the lady behind the counter said " if a woman wears it we change more, as a matter of fact if you ask for a woman's shirt to be laundered we charge you the higher dry cleaning price!" I informed the person at the store and a manager on the phone that this practice is against the law. It is in fact a violation of the Civil Rights Act. No response. read more

I was happy to learn about their services from Jason - shoe repair, tailoring, and pick up/delivery. I'm sorry to have to write this review because I respect the sustainability ethics, however this place was so disorganized. I dropped off items to be tailored which got returned to me without any tailoring. I dropped off dry cleaning with a scheduled delivery date which they delivered several days early and left it on my porch for my sprinkler system to, soak everything. I was out of town and had to pay someone to go over to my house to bring the dry cleaning in. One of my dresses had a slip inside, but they charged me for two dresses and refused to amend this. I've sent a few of my favorite or unique things to Eco Friendly and have always had a fantastic experience with them. Sam and Greg are very thorough when reviewing my items and have found holes and stains I hadn't noticed before. Recently I saw on Facebook that Eco Friendly was running a promotion for a free shoe or boot cleaning from Pop's Shoe Repair when you use their new app to schedule a dry-cleaning pick up (also free delivery!!!). I downloaded the Eco Friendly app and my pickup was scheduled for the next day! Greg came to my house for a pickup on Monday. He assessed my coat and boots to let me know what they could do. He even worked out a cheaper option for me to freshen up my coat and repair the button loops, which is all I really wanted. When my items came back on Friday morning, I was SHOCKED by the speedy turnaround. I don't use dry cleaning a lot but I always thought it would take weeks. My boots look practically brand new and my coat looks, feels and smells fantastic!! I feel just like Phyllis Nefler in my new coat!! read more

Yes I use dry cleaners at least once a year. I have always used the same one which honestly has done a great job but seems a tad pricey so I was considering shopping around. And through some amazing ESP our local Yelp community leader finagled Eco Friendly (EFC) to give us a perk! Our first garment was free so it was my opportunity to do a risk free trial run. I went to this location which to make it easy on you is in the five points shopping center next to Subway. I took my three "expensive" shirts and they did an amazing job. Like brand new. On eco friendly plastic hangers that can be used again and again. Jason checked me in and he has a terrific personality. He also does on site shoe repair so it's a one stop shop. When I picked up Greg was working. He's the owner and spent the time to explain the dry clean process to me because I was always curios. It isn't dry at all--who knew? Having me as a customer won't make a bit of difference whatsoever to their bottom line as I use dry cleaning devices so infrequently....but, having them as my Arsenal will be a world of difference to me. read more

I hardly ever use dry cleaners. What a luxury today was! The shop is fairly hidden within the Five Points Shopping Center. I initially had thought it was closer to Smart & Final but later found out it was between Subway and Blenders. A bit off the beaten path but still fairly visible. I was greeted and assisted by Greg, the owner, and found him to be very personable and professional. It was immediately evident that this was not the sort of cleaners my mom would drag me to as a kid - the place was clean, well-decorated, and modern. Greg took my cell phone number and advised he'd text me once my shirt was ready - pretty cutting edge if I do say so myself. He also inspected the shirt and asked if there were any areas that needed special attention. I loved the extra touch there. Looking forward to picking up my newly-cleaned dress shirt. I have never written a negative review before but unfortunately I gave my dress up, two weeks early, in preparation for my college graduation. They were very aware that I had somewhere to be in two weeks. I arrived to pick up my dress which WAS NOT in the location I dropped it off...I had to drive to Goleta to get my dress that WAS NOT ALTERED. At All. They did not call me or attempt to contact me at all to let me know that their seamstress was in the hospital and my dress wouldn't be done. I'm very disappointed by the lack of communication and the fact that I then had to drive 20 min away to another location to get my dress that hadn't even been touched. Terrible service, untrained staff. I took a nice cardigan sweater to Eco Friendly Cleaners because I got paint on the sleeve. I've had good luck with other dry cleaners getting things out of clothes, but had never tried getting paint out, so when I dropped it off, I very clearly showed the clerk the paint on the sleeve and asked if they can take it out. She asked to look at the sweater. I said it was latex, water-based wall paint. She replied that they could get it out, wrote "paint" on the ticket so they'd be sure to look there, and took the sweater. When I went to pick it up, I paid the $17 and took the sweater home, not looking at it because there was no mention of them not being able to get the paint out. When I went to wear the sweater a week or so later, I noticed that NONE of the paint was gone! Well, chalk that up to a lesson learned. But it doesn't stop there. A few days after that I get a call from Derek at Eco Friendly Cleaners saying he was calling because I was a new customer and to welcome me. He asked how it went. I told him about the paint. He looked up my ticket, saw that I clearly asked the paint to be removed, and told me to bring the sweater back. He was sorry they missed it, and there would be no charge to do it again. Great! What good customer service, I thought. It would be a pain to take it back, but worth it. Not 5 minutes later, Derek called back. He explained that they can't get paint out, and the employee should have told me that when I dropped it off. She didn't. So now that's 2 employees who don't know the basics. I don't remember if he offered or I requested my money back, but I was told I would get a refund. If they ask questions, I'm to tell them Derek said it was ok. (Derek was fantastic; too bad the company didn't train him.) So I go back to the store. It's a different clerk, and she blatantly told me she had no idea what I was talking about and didn't know how to do a refund. I mentioned Derek's name. She didn't respond, but picked up the phone and made a call. Her mask was half way down her nose, so I stepped back and didn't hear much except Derek's name and that they didn't have my credit card on file. I waited while she figured it out, another 5 minutes of my time. I mused out loud whether it was worth it to keep the sweater (wondering to myself what might work to get the paint off), and as she handed me the cash refund, she said "no, we keep the sweater." Wha?? What? "WE KEEP THE SWEATER!" she said forcefully, as she slid it across the counter toward her. I again asked, What?! She replied, "We gave you a refund for it. We keep the sweater." Yikes! I grabbed the sweater and walked out of the store. Wow, the clerk thinks she can keep my sweater -- I didn't BUY it there, you refunded me because you didn't do what you promised. Overall, a terrible experience that could have been handled so much better. I'll be looking for a new cleaners. (Side note: Derek has a great future in customer service -- maybe he should go to a company that trains him about their product/service!) read more

I had an expensive, but 30 year old sofa cover in white that had many age stains, and was looking a bit disheveled. It had some interior feather filled foam cushion covers. I brought them to ECO FRIENDLY and they took the time to examine each piece to see if they could properly clean it. They advised me to NOT clean the feather items, as the ticking was old and would not withstand the process. Great advice. The cover came back in beautiful condition, and I just aired out the feather pieces, as I found the already had a little tear. Wonderful people. read more

Quick, quality service. I am very protective of my clothes and rarely trust anyone to care for them properly. I do, however, have full trust in California Cleaners. I have come here for a few round of dry cleaning and alterations and both times I received excellent service. This most recent visit, I asked the owner to put a rush on my items, as I was leaving town for the holidays and of course was not as prepared as I hoped I would be. She finished my items promptly. They also take the Axxess card! 50% off dry cleaning for first time use, and then 10% after that. The only reason I am not giving them the full 5 stars, is because they are a little pricey, although I have been told, multiple times, that high prices for dry cleaning is the norm in Santa Barbara. read more

Wow, horrible service. I dropped off 5 shirts on Monday 11/18. Went back Wed. 11/20 to pick up.. only 2 shirts there. Go back two days later, 2 more shirts. STILL waiting on my last shirt. I keep calling and get excuses and the run around... and promises of call back and compensation - STILL WAITING! Almost 3 weeks now. I have asked several times to please have the owner call me. Fully converted to pick up and delivery! Eco Friendly are the best value dry cleaners we've found. We've been steady customers now for almost 2 years. In that time, we've done dry cleaning, rug cleaning and alterations with them. The team are friendly, the work they do is excellent (particularly the alterations and rug cleaning) and the service is fast. Although we do still occasionally go into the store, we now mostly just use their app to schedule a pick up from our house. The free pickup and delivery makes such a difference - one less errand to run. read more

OMGosh Samantha and her partner totally saved the day for my family!!! After traveling all day yesterday and finding out that my dress and my brother's dress shirt/pants were completely wrinkled we stopped in to their shop. They were so kind and gracious and said that they could press everything and gave it ready by noon today!!! Needless to say that they our clothing looked amazing. I have been using California Cleaners for over 2 years now and am very happy with this company. The owners and their staff are always courteous and very professional. They have never lost or damaged any of my clothes. If they know I am in a hurry to pick up my clothes and parking is difficult during lunch time I call them in advance and they will take my clothes to my car. Talk about service! They drive my clothes to the Downtown Canyon Perdido location if they know I won't be able to pick up before closing time at the upper State Street location; the downtown location is open later. I am extremely happy with how both locations are run and will not trust anyone else in town with my clothes. read more

I wish I couldn't give any stars! I will never return to this place again! I went there because the axxess book gave a 50% off your first dry cleaning and so when I took a blanket in, first the woman said $38 then she changed her mind and said $40. I told her about the axxess card deal and she said "sorry no housewares". I told her that was not stated in the ad in the axxess book and she said that's not the case- no housewares. She said my blanket was a comforter- any drapes, sheets, and blankets are lumped into the comforter category. I took the axxess book and showed her the ad then the axxess app on my phone and still she wouldn't honor it. An older man came from behind the counter and asked if I was Jewish by haggling prices! Really?! I told her it was unfair and false advertisement and she then changed her story to "we couldn't fit all the restrictions on the ad". I am calling BS and I will never go to that false advertising, racist establishment again! read more

I would prefer to not give a star at all. I had an encounter using the Axxess card, so I now consider this place to be a dry cleaner to avoid. I called in advance to hear the price I could expect to pay for selected items and wrote those numbers down on this vendor's ad page in the Axxess book. After leaving the goods and returning for the pickup, the price had changed. No valid explanation was provided as to how the rate for dry cleaning men's pants had increased in price by $2.00 to $9.95. Yes, I did get the Axxess discount, but it made me feel this vendor was adding an Axxess card tax to the discount. After making assorted calls to other vendors, this $9.95 price for dry cleaning men's slacks was well above all others by as much as $3.00. Notwithstanding the reviews offered in favor of this place, if you are going to use an Axxess card, make sure you have a quote for the final price so to avoid surprises. As for the old man who hangs around there, he is worthless and is taking up air space. It took as much as 3 minutes for someone just to show up at the counter when I arrived to drop off the clothes, even after ringing their bell and then it was the old man stumbling in from outside. He messed around with the computer but was not capable of taking my name or phone number to start a new account. I had to write it down for him on a piece of paper hoping it would not be lost. My clothes were there, cleaned and pressed, yet this place still barely deserves a star. read more
