I called 7 handyman companies for a job I needed done quickly. Three got estimates to me, and the rest either didn't return a voicemail or told me that they'd get back to me but never came through. Eco-Green Handyman got me an estimate FAST based on pics I texted to him, and his price was fair. Also, this job involved hauling away debris and most handyman companies didn't want to do this, preferring to have us fill our trash bins for weeks. I never give bad reviews (really, check my reviews) -- but I just got off the phone with Odel, the handyman, after being yelled at by him for 30 minutes, so I have to share. We found Odel via Yelp and read all of the great reviews, so we called him to take a look at the several small jobs we had around the house. Add motion sensor lights, add insulation to a door frame, add ventilation to our roof, fix a sprinkler, and fix our glass shower door which was sagging, among other things. For the shower door (which is the issue here), he originally suggested that the door was heavy and we add a third hinge (we only have two), but then his guy that he brought with him said that was impossible because our door is not equipped for a third hinge. Instead, he said he could see if he could find the rubber for where the hinges connect to the door, and replace those. He was nice and quoted us prices for everything he could (with the exception of a few jobs that he had to check on the prices of things). We scheduled with him to come back after 4th of July weekend to do all of the work. He came with his crew on time, and the work was done within a few hours. We paid him over $1,000 for all of the work we had done, and everything seemed fine. Just a few weeks later, I noticed that our shower door was again sagging (the glass door was hitting against the glass wall). This is an issue we've had for at least a year, and my husband and I attempted to fix it a couple of times on our own by loosening the screws and then lifting the door and tightening the screws. It "fixes" the door for a couple of weeks, but then the issue resurfaces. We hired Odel to fix the door for real so we wouldn't keep having this issue -- but here it was again. We'd paid $190 for the fix, and it wasn't fixed. I called Odel up and let him know on voicemail that we are pleased with all of the work his crew did, except that we are again having issues with our shower door. He called back a couple of days later and agreed to come over on Monday afternoon to take a look. He then called to reschedule for Tuesday. I was at work, and my husband was at home to let him in. All we wanted was a partial refund, or for him to fix the door as we had originally requested. Instead, I get a phone call from my husband asking whether Odel had originally recommended replacing the hinges. I said no -- he said we could add a third hinge, but then later said that was not possible and instead said we could replace the rubber. I'm not an expert at fixing shower doors -- that is why we hired a handy man in the first place -- to tell us how to fix the door, and then to fix it. I get on the phone with Odel, and we go around and around in circles, with him sounding very frustrated, yelling at me that his labor was still good, and that it was our hinges that are in need of replacing. He said, "I'm not a psychic" and "I don't have a crystal ball" and "I would never guarantee how long your hinges would last." I told him that I wasn't complaining about his labor and didn't expect him to be psychic, but we requested that he fix the shower door, and it is not fixed. The job was to fix the door. If replacing the rubber was not going to fix the door, then he shouldn't have recommended it and taken our $190 to do it. I do expect him to be the expert at advising us on how to fix things properly, not just for a quick 3-week fix like my husband or I could have done for free. He kept cutting me off, telling me that I wasn't "understanding" him or listening to him, and saying the same things to me over and over -- he's not psychic, his labor is still good. He offered to try to find new hinges and replace our old hinges, but wouldn't do the work "for free" -- I said that we'd spent a lot of money with his company, and the least I would hope he would offer for us is to meet us half way. He never offered to give us any refund or discount on the past or potential future work. Instead, he just kept yelling to me that I wasn't listening to him, he can't guarantee anything, and he isn't psychic. After literally over 30 minutes of trying to talk to him, we agreed that it was best if he just left. My husband, who had been sitting there for 30 minutes listening to Odel yell at me over the phone, said to Odel -- "stop telling her that she doesn't understand you" -- after which all I could hear was Odel yelling VERY LOUDLY in my house, and my husband says he stormed out. It's truly unfortunate that we had such an overall good experience with Odel and his great laborers, only to have the entire experience soured by today's event. A simple partial refund or real fix would have made us happy, and kept us as customers, but instead I was yelled at for 30 minutes (even though I kept asking him not to yell). I got Odel's number after he did some great work for my mom. My experience was the polar opposite. We had a couple of small things done around the house, the big one being a bathroom door that wasn't closing. The door needed to be shaved down. He shaved the top of the door down, but it looks horrible. To make things worse, he sawed into our travertine tile on the bathroom floor ruining two tiles which have had to be replaced at a hefty fee. My spouse tried to contact Odel multiple times with no response. The kicker is that Odel and I had a long conversation about a bad experience we had with another handyman and he flat said that he would not hang us out to dry. That he would have integrity enough to fix his mistake and own up to it if it were him. That was clearly not the case. He messed up our bathroom and dodged our calls. He really is a nice guy, but not very professional or honest. Avoid at all costs! read more

I needed assistance with projects small to large (drywall, painting, caulking, plumbing, putting a new lock on my front gate) and they did a great job on everything at a reasonable price. Later, however, a problem arose with the front gate and despite repeated efforts to reach Odel, he never responded. So, despite a good first impression, I wouldn't use the company again because follow-through and responsiveness are hallmarks of a good business and I found both lacking. read more

But, the best job he did for us was removing LED lighting when were moved and installing it in our new home. Seriously the best experience I've ever had dealing with a handyman. Odel is friendly, professional, competent and does quality work. He works really efficiently and communicates everything clearly before he starts the job. He mounted my flat screen tv and the screws were missing for the tv so he went and got the right ones without hesitation. Also our tv wall mount was not in the best of conditions but Odel worked through it patiently and made a few adjustments so that it would work instead of us having to go out and buy a new wall mount. OK, it doesn't get any better than this. I needed three window AC units installed PRONTO! AMAZING how many handymen simply couldn't say, "Yes.", and at a reasonable price. First, Odel was 1/2 what everyone else was charging, and everyone else was thoroughly overpriced. They wanted me to jump through hoops to get them all sorts of info about the units, my windows, etc. Now, we're talking about 6K BTU, window-mounted AC units installed into old, double-hanger windows. This ain't rocket science, and these things are as common in SoCal as palm trees. After calling multiple guys, finally found Odel at Eco-Green and he said essentially, "No problem, it'll only take me about an hour and a half, I'll be over in a couple of hours." It wasn't, it did, and he was. Problem solved, and I couldn't help add a gratuity, if only because here was a guy who didn't make a mountain out of a molehill, and charged me accordingly.
