His was not the lowest bid, but we went with him because of his depth of knowledge and the fact that his quote was contained in a copy of the contract that we would sign when he started the work, said contract being very complete in details as to what to expect and what was included. Other contracts we were given were more generalized and we had to follow up and ask for more details as to what was included. On the day of the installation, Alex showed up on time, went over again the scope of work, what we could expect before, during, and after the system was installed, and spent a bit over five hours doing the work. When finished, he went over everything with us and encouraged us to contact him with any questions/issues we might have. He also left us with a short term radon test (charcoal) to be used about a week after completion of the work so we could verify that the system was doing its job (original radon level was 7.1). He finally found the solution; whoever plumbed the house had installed a check valve to control the flow of wastewater from the house had installed it upside down, causing an overflow. From first contact, you will speak with the owner and then never see…read morehim again. 2 or 3 guys will show up on his behalf, with 1 of the guys acting as the assessor of the damage. He then will start to bring drying machines into your home and will tell you that areas that you know were not affected need to be repaired. If you ask for an estimate, they will tell you that they will give you one in 4 to 5 days while the drying machines are doing their magic. On the 5th day , there still will be no estimate , but they will attempt to leave the machines in your home for addition days. When you attempt to reach out to the owner, he will fast talk you and convince you to leave the machines running for a few more days, but still won't provide any numbers. Once you decide that you will shop around your services, they will then send you a bill for 5-8 thousand dollars, claiming that that was for the machine usage. On the invoice, they even charged a "Set Up" fee for simply plugging the machines in. You also will get an electric bill double your normal amount due to the machine running inside of your home. READ CAREFULLY: DO NOT LET THEM DEAL DIRECTLY WITH YOUR HOME INSURANCE AGENT OR BE PRESENT DURING YOUR INSURANCE ESTIMATORS WALK THROUGH, AS THEY WILL GET YOU TO SIGN OVER THE ENTIRE INSURANCE PAYOUT BEFORE EVEN STARTING ANY WORK.
