I contacted NextDay Inspect after finding them through Yelp, to come and do a pre-purchase home inspection on a home that my wife and I are considering buying. They came out exactly at the time agreed, and showed up well prepared with the termite inspector (an add on I purchased) and got to work The termite inspection report was sent to me same day in a PDF format by email, and the home inspection report was sent to me next day on a Sunday! NextDay isn't fully open on Sundays and yet the inspector still did his report after a 4.5hour extremely thorough inspection. The work the inspector did, and the quality of the report are absolutely fantastic! Yes this inspection (like all) was expensive, costing me $618 total for the home inspection, termite inspection, and repair estimate report. But, I would be shocked if you could find any inspector (let alone one as thorough and knowledgeable as Michael at NextDay) to inspect your home for anywhere close to that price Ultimately, due to the massive issues they found we will not be buying the house they inspected. I used this company for my home inspection in Clifton, Va. Shortly after moving in I had to replace the heater and /AC (due to not working). During the install they discovered that there was a sump pump attached to the AC and they were curious why since the drain was right next to it. They turned on a hose and started filling the drain to discover that it is totally blocked and there is no drainage in the basement. Additionally, i found out after closing that the soffit, trim and fake pillars were rotting everywhere. read more

Pros: Really nice inspector. Respectful of your home. He wore shoe coverings so he doesn't track dirt/other things into home. Cons: Inspector was not thorough and the report lacked sufficient details. We could've saved the money by just requesting quotes from roofers because they were able to go onto the roof and INTO the attic to tell us where the leak is and what caused it. (See review below). We hired a roof/attic inspector in order to figure out why our roof has been leaking before calling a roofer. The website says, "the inspector will check the exterior of the roof and the interior of the roof by attic access." And there's a long list of what will be inspected for the roof and attic. Our inspector used a drone or some long stick to inspect the outside of the roof but when it came to the attic, he just poked his head into the crawl space and that's it. Just FYI, our attic crawl space is located at the front of the house and our leak was at the back of the house. It's about 100 feet back so someone just poking their head in the space will be unable to see what's going on in the back of the house. He should've been able to go in there because we had no problem doing it ourselves - we just don't know what we're looking for. That's why we wanted a professional to look at it. Someone who would be able to spot things we missed. If he went into the attic, he would've seen that the "possible problem" he speculated was, in fact, not the problem at all had he saw it himself. Home inspection was professional and complete. John Fritz, was extremely customer service oriented and discussed with me what concerned me most prior and spent time checking every nook and cranny of the home. The report, 116 pages was thorough and provided not only details but pictures. Also recommendations were included. I highly recommend Nextday Inspect for home inspections. However, I would not recommend their pest inspection services as it is not performed by Nextday. They used a third party company whom I was trying to avoid "PEST NOW" due to their reviews which according to the sellers turned out to be accurate. read more

I cannot compare NextDay to anyone else, because after reading reviews, Better Business rating, etc., I chose them to do the inspection on my new condo, not anyone else. However, I am extremely pleased with their service. They saved me a lot of time and spared me the anxiety of having to find problems myself, and I will not hire anyone else in the future. I have decided to hire them again after my closing so I can report any problems i have while living there, as required by the builder. Home inspection was completed based on convenience. So if the test wasn't easily completed then it would be marked as not tested. There was a garage, a whole room and 2 fireplaces that weren't inspected. That wasn't the worse part, they missed mold. And the RWS package they offer is even worse. Absolutely, no coverages if the word moisture is mentioned in the home inspection report. I have contact them to see what can be done at this point; will update the review if there is a fair resolution. read more

I have hired them twice now and I am about to hire them again. They do a very thorough job and are very personable. I have had different inspectors each time and both seemed very knowledgable. The first time I hired them, I needed someone to do a pre-construction property inspection. The electricity was turned off and the house was flooded when he arrived. What a disaster! The inspector waited for me to contact Pepco and get the electricity turned on. He graciously inspected other areas of the house whilst this was happening. I was able to get the electric turned on and the sump pumps to pump the water out. And the inspector completed his inspection. The last time I ordered an inspection from Next day inspect was in La Plata. This was a completely different property. It had a pool, a well, septic, and over 2 acres. NextDay was not able to check the well and septic but they did a good job on the house. I will be working with them again. read more

Even though we lost the house, we are grateful that Peter has attention to details. I will not buy like that house because it's a money pit and not worth what we offered the Seller. Honestly, the inspectors from Nextday Inspect that performed my home inspection are the best that I have ever hired. I have recently relocated to the Washington DC area for work and while I was under contract for my home purchase I selected Nextday Inspect to perform my home inspection. I was pleased to see the inspectors taking careful attention to safety items throughout their inspection. The inspectors were very detailed, looking at items on the outside of the housing, including walking on the roof and checking the garage to make sure that it operates safely. The inspectors checked to make sure the garage door automatically reverses if it encounters any resistance. A safety hazard was discovered in the backyard. The fence has a couple of the posts were rotten and loose at their base, which could fall over at any time. This careful attention to detail provided me with a sense of relief, as I have kids that often play in the front and backyard. The inspection took 3 hours in total, the inspectors did not skip anything and meticulously inspected every area of the house. As the inspectors were working, they communicated with me and my husband the items they were discovering and their recommendations on the severity of each item. I am thankful that the inspectors at Nextday Inspect were very knowledgeable, patient and professional.
