We had a full backyard renovation - filling in a pool/jacuzzi, updating drainage & irrigation, and rework of hardscapes and lighting. EcoDesign SD was there to support us every step of the way, from design to material selection, and color schemes. I'm not great at making decisions, but they helped guide us and offered suggestions within our price range. As with any project, there will be additional costs along the way. Once you start digging, other issues arise that need to be addressed. We were always informed about these issues and we came up with solutions as a team. Change Orders were sent that had price breakdowns so it felt very transparent. We had several large change orders that consumed the majority of our surplus budget. Once we communicated that to the company, they offered suggestions to alternate materials and designs that would keep us within budget. Throughout the whole project, we were in a group chat on WhatsApp with the owner, office manager, lead designer, and lead construction. this was a great way to ensure that we were all on the same page and had quick access to ask questions or send photos. The guys on site every day were punctual, professional, respectful, and always cleaned up after themselves. It was almost like they were part of our family for a few months. EcoDesign will not be your lowest bidder, but what you are paying for is high quality work and excellent service. My backyard now looks like something from a magazine. We are genuinely SO happy with it. I have friends who did small yard projects with other contractors and they didn't get exactly what they wanted, leaving them less than 100% satisfied. We are 110% satisfied and we wouldn't change a thing about the project. That's because we were involved in every step, decision, and selection. After a lot of searching and meetings with potential landscape designers we finally found the one for us! Veronica, Ashley and the team have been fantastic and very accommodating during the entire renovation process. The CAD rendering really helped us to hone in on our final layout. Trust me, it is well worth the deposit to move forward with the CAD! During one of our initial site walks Veronica said the team would be dedicated our project, Monday - Friday (some Saturdays), and they were! This kept the project on time. The build team was kind, courteous and cleaned up the job site daily! They were knowledgeable about our project and reviewed our plans every couple weeks with Ashley to make sure we were on track. This is the second time we've worked with Eco Design. Veronica and her team Jorge, Ashley and Isabel are truly wonderful and care about doing things correctly. We have a large support wall that holds up our yard from the canyon below it. The wall, originally put in by another landscape design company, was failing so we had to have it completely redone. Jorge and his prompt, respectful, kind crew meticulously took everything apart and put it back together better than ever. This included putting irrigation into the wall and making sure it drains correctly. We also had them repair a cracked stucco wall and refresh the yard with several new plants. We did a complete backyard and front remodel adding fire pits, green walls, and a water feature. The planting is xeriscape--all beautifully done. It was a major project included replacing fences, a new patio, a rooftop remodel. It took quite a bit of time, but we are thrilled with the result and now have a yard we use. TLDR: Broke my hose, won't replace it Would you want to do business with these people? Ecodesign workers were carrying heavy buckets of water up and down the stairs. Like a good neighbor, I offered to let them use my hose. Nice, right? They broke my hose. I asked them to replace it. Normal, right? They sent me a nasty email about how they had to schedule a meeting, would have to make sure others were present, and then would charge me for their time. They broke the hose at the joint. It has 10 settings for the nozzle. Nine of those 10 no longer work, including the shower one I use most often. Just replace it. That's all. Update: A few hours after I wrote this review, I got a call from EcodesignSD. She said she saw my review and she had already ordered a hose for me, but hadn't gotten back to me yet. I sent her an email about it May 13. I posted this review after receiving the nasty text on May 24. Today she delivered the replacement hose. read more

After two visits to our home we met with them and were given a two page cad drawing one of which was an elevation drawing. We have had several projects with contractors at our home and our experience with EcoDesign SD was the best by far! EcoDesign did a full landscape design, installed plants, irrigation, and a redwood pergola for our front and back yards Veronica is a communicative and professional business owner. She led the design process from start to finish and really listened to my preferences to create a design we were both excited about. The installation crew was outstanding. Our foreman, Jorge, communicated with me throughout the whole process and pointed out things that we might want to consider changing from the original design. The team worked hard Monday through Saturday, rain or shine, and was always respectful of our space. They cleaned up every evening. To say the team is meticulous is an understatement: I've never seen a landscape team so precise in their work. Even the weed barrier, which was later covered up by mulch, was installed with care. When it came time to buy the plants, Veronica called me to discuss several suggestions for changes from the original design. Some of our original choices were not available or did not look healthy at the nursery, so we swapped them for something better. I love all the changes we made and I appreciated being included in those decisions. We had lived with a so-so bland yard for 8 years before EcoDesignSD transformed our shrubby scrubby front yard, side and back yards into delightful, colorful, low water gardens with a tremendous variety of plants, succulents and trees. My only regret is that we didn't do this sooner! EcoDesignSD's team made great recommendations for how to personalize our outdoor spaces so that we got more use and enjoyment out of them. We created outdoor rooms in some places (for example, we changed a no longer used trampoline area into an outdoor space with a small kidney shaped area of artificial turf surrounded by a low water garden. We added chairs, a hanging chair and an umbrella and a fountain in the garden and now enjoy it almost daily). In a boring side yard, they built for us a custom French door pergola over a fountain; in the front, they swapped out our "freeway shrubbery" for a dry river bed surrounded by low water plants, roses and an acacia tree. In another side yard, we created a growing garden by adding two custom knee-high garden boxes and a delightful DG pathway, and added succulent envelopes to our fence to brighten it up. In addition, they replaced the entire sprinkler system with drip irrigation, added new landscape and uplighting and installed overhead lights. It was an investment we are so glad we made and we now use and live in our yard and derive great pleasure from it. Veronica is a smart and talented designer and her team, led by Jorge, is amongst the hardest working and most detailed crews I've encountered from the many we've had do work at our home. Not long after the yard transformation, which we have also added to with personal creations including hanging succulent pallets and such, we were chosen to be in the La Jolla Secret Garden Tour, which was an amazing experience. In sum, EcoDesignSD transformed a boring garden into a beautiful and personalized outdoor living space. We absolutely love our yard now and spend as much time out there as we can. We were very happy with the company and happy to support a woman-owned, local business. We have also used EcoDesignSD's maintenance service, which I highly recommend, to keep everything looking nice. I wish I could say I had a great experience as others have. The scheduling for my cement wall took forever!!! They were suppose to do it back in October of 2015 and was not done until February 2016. The owner was out of town and it was very difficult to get a hold of. I kept getting text messages and emails from different employees about a check. I had cut a check but apparently there are some communication issues. I had also provided the owner with my neighbors contact info as they were paying 1/2 of the cost. Must have sent at least 5 emails and owner kept saying she did not have the information. read more

I met Veronica a few years ago at a landscaper and designers gathering at KRC Rock and Boulder Supply. She explained that she was new to the area and was reaching out to suppliers and other landscapers. I liked her right from the start. We just completed a large back and front yard remodel with Veronica and her team. Our house is on a bit of a hill so we had to build 3 different retaining walls and level off a lot of land to put in the patio, overhang, fire pit, staircase, etc that we wanted. After initially interviewing a few contractors we chose to go with Veronica because we really liked her style from looking at pictures from past projects and my wife and I sensed that we could trust her to complete the work. Additionally, Veronica's quote was very reasonable for the amount of work we had to complete and we always discussed options where we could save money on things in the yard that weren't as important to us and splurge on some different design ideas that we felt made our yard more unique and beautiful. Only very minor work was subcontracted out (ie. electrical) so her workers are completing 95% of everything which means you get to avoid the huge subcontractor markup some companies will pitch to you. Jorge was the foreman on our job and managed the day to day workers. I really liked working with him as he has many years of experience and would always take the time to chat with me to explain what they were working on and why they were doing things. He never rushed anything just to get something done and he always listened to our feedback to ensure we were happy with the work being completed. Any construction project is stressful due to emotion, time and money that you will put into it. From our experience, at the end of the day if you chose to use EcoDesign you can trust that you will have a beautiful design put together and that your project will be entirely completed at a very high quality level. I would recommend to give EcoDesign consideration to be your designer/contractor for any project you are considering working on. With the completion of our yard project my wife and I are now in the process of getting a design and quote from Veronica on a kitchen remodel. read more
