For years, my husband and I planned a backyard project that would extend the usable space, and remove a jungle of bushes and trees that housed possums, raccoons, rabbits, and rats that made a mess in our backyard. In January of 2024, San Diego got a lot of rain. I had a failing retaining wall that was poorly made at least 40 years ago (probably 60). The rain softened the soil behind and the whole wall came down. I got three bids, Sunny Builders were the best deal. Sharon and Nadav were wonderful to work with. They put together a nice plan, that had good details, and quality materials. The plan called for two 3 ft walls with a poured Concrete footer, Reinforced with Re-bar, then blocks on top with french drains, sealer on the back of the wall, and compressed soil behind. I also had them repair a brick paved area that was collapsing, and they added a drain that continued along my patio and down into my Avocado Trees. The price was broken down into about 5 piceces. Each step had to be completed to my satisfaction before I paid for the step. This is important because at any point in the project you want to be able to stop cancel the contract and only pay for the work that was done. The project took several weeks. This did not bother me since I knew I had no time to work on it. The overall result was as expected, professionally done and the team worked very hard to keep me happy. Sharon and Nadav kept in regular contact. The final completion of the project had a little hickup placement of a faucet. Nadav sent his team back a couple of times to get it right. Highly recommend the team. I will likely ask them to help me with another project this summer. read more

After enduring every homeowner's nightmare of all nightmares for the past year with another contracting group, Sharon and his team swooped in and restored my belief that there are good, honorable contractors out there. The previous group left us with a poorly graded and incapable drainage system in our backyard which resulted in regular flooding to the back half of our house plus one helluva sink hole in the front yard wear they trudged a new sewer line. Sunny Builders Group came to inspect and identified exactly what needed to be done to right the situation, offered a very reasonable bid, and most importantly, a quick turnaround time - especially important given how much rain we have had the past winter. Sharon was an absolute pleasure to work with and it's obvious that he has genuine interest in helping people. The job for my house was a remodeling of the front and back yards and demo-ing and reinstalling the driveway. I worked with Bar and Kim and they were fantastic. Kim headed the design and Bar was mostly construction, but also had great input in design as well. They were always punctual and were able to work within my available hours. I don't have a strong sense of design, but Kim was great about asking my thoughts or building a design around what I did like. She knew what questions to ask to help make sure I like what I picked and I never felt uncomfortable communicating if there was something I didn't like, she never steamrolled her designs over me. Due to an unforseen and immediate family matter, she had to take time away about half way through the project, but as soon as she was back, she let me know and made her self available for any further questions I had. Bar was great managing this project, was extremely plesant in addressing any and all concerns and had them all seen to. Was very accountable for what was happening at the job site. It was very easy working with him. The crew of guys working working on a daily basis were clean and very kind and professional. They came around 7:30am to about 5pm mon-sat. They ensured the job got done and at a very quick pace. The price was definitely not the cheapest estimate, but they work they do is higher quality and guaranteed for longer than the other companies I looked to. The only area for improvement would be communication on things like when the water might be turned off. They had to reroute a water line and when the irrigation system was installed, the water to the house was turned off and I didn't know until I got home, that would have been nice to know before hand. It always came back on before they left the job, but I would have planned different had I known it would be off. Even as the job is finished they've frequently let me know if there is anything else that needs touching up or addressing, they would be happy to come out and see to it. read more

We had a job of removing and building cement steps with going to the front door of a 2nd. floor duplex which turned out the 2 permits were not pulled for the job. The owner and supervisor mentioned that they didn't need any permits to do the job. The forms were set ready to pul cement and I saw a red flag go up so I looked into this. The top landing was 3' and code is 5' to access and open the exterior door that swings out. The forms were already set and I told him I asked my neighbor that was a builder which my neighbor gave me the building code specification. Sunny and his supervisor as well as the cement man told me I didn't know I was talking about! They had made up every excuse in the book and told me if the landing was 2' more the end of the steps would be 10'more in the middle of the driveway. I had mentioned that it can't be if you're only adding on 2' of landing. I spoke with the cement man the next day setting up the forms to meet code and he told me that both owner and himself had a lot of jobs going and were stressed out!!! Poor excuse for incompetent tradesman and owner of the company. Make a long story short the city building engineer came down after the cement was poured and condemned the stairs and told us that the complete cement steps and landing was not structural sound and dangerous to use. Our tenants could not use the $11,000.00 steps and have been going through the back door of their house. No permits were pulled and the company is being fined, in the mean while no steps for the past year and a half. We had bids at $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 to make the job right. We will go to the state contractors hearing coming up soon. These guys are real talkers and promise you the best job you have ever had! What a joke and stress they have put on us. I also received a call from Sunny, the owner with a threat, if I don't retract my complaint with the State Contractors Board that he will sue me and take my house away. I am 73yrs. of age with health issues and had to put up with this garbage. On top of that when they rebuild the landing wood forms for the landing of 2' deep they had charged my wife another $1,000.00 for 2hrs. of work. I didn't know that she paid them because she didn't want any trouble! I should have did some homework and did find over 40 bad reviews after my job was so called completed. read more

My only complaint is that my original bid was $18,500, in line with other bids I got. Prior to giving me my bid Ben had walked around and under my deck. But after his workmen removed the top of the deck he told me that the supports for my deck were more termite eaten than he had previously thought. So his workers removed the ENTIRE deck from ground up. The final cost to me was $28,500. I wish he had been more thorough when he originally inspected the deck. read more
