"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". In my opinion, One Star rating, for Ecofun / Rocky Point Adventures. And all of this review , is my opinion. We seemed to have trouble contacting the company. In attempt to book the sunset cruise on Wednesday 23 October, my friend called on Tuesday and talked to a lady who told us yes, there is a sunset cruise on Wednesday and to call back Wednesday morning though to book it. When he called Wednesday, but perhaps not til afternoon, a guy answered the phone and said the office is always closed on Wednesday. We wound up going to our hotel concierge who then booked the Sunset cruise for 9 of us. We enjoyed a very pleasant Ecofun sunset cruise. The guy checking us in, (Matt?), said he was one of only two guys who answer the phone number we had called, as my friend read the number to him to verify it. So when we eventually walked away to board the sunset cruise we were simply confused about the phone contacts knowing our number was good. At boarding, we also inquired about the Bird Island tour and the guy who checked us in told us it was 1:45 -2 hours cruise to get to the Island and the time window was 7:30 to 3:30 for the trip. We paid for the Saturday Bird Island tour and then all nine of us boarded for the sunset cruise. Very nice weather, pleasant seas, friendly captain. Prompt and polite service for drinks. The snack was a slightly below average brand of tortilla chips with some salsa in a basket. So room for improvement there. Didn't mind that too much as we had dinner plans immediately afterward. So for about $28 total per person, two hours with the views back at the mainland, a few drinks and pleasant staff, it was very enjoyable. I also had a friend during the tour tell me the Captain said he would be our Captain on Saturday, so I was glad to hear this second hand information. But I am not for sure exactly what was said. So now on to Saturdays trip to Bird Island, and unfortunately, it was just a feces show. What happened was basically in my opinion, close to a bait and switch, that resulted in the ultra long day from hell. We find the same gentleman, Matt?, who checked us in for the sunset cruise, and we get led to a holding area and then shortly onto a boat called the Sea Senior. Already loaded were about 6 divers on a dive trip to the island apparently led by the local dive shop director. With several others, but not too many folks, we departed for the island about 8am. The food and drink servers who worked the boat were first rate. Very polite, friendly, and constantly checking on the passengers. 6 stars on a 5 star scale for the interior crew service. Several snacks that included fresh sliced fruit. Lunch was a ham sandwich but on a nice bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. Unfortunately these great servers really worked a long long time as it took over 3 hours to get to the island on this calm seas low wind morning. Not 1:45 - 2 hours. Once anchored, they put out a line with floating life ring and they let the divers get in the water. The crew also put out a tethered round swim float and a large matt which was still rolled up. A few people loaded into kayaks and then swimmers were put into the water, all with life jackets. I was about the fifth swimmer in. I floated a little past the life ring and then decided I should get back to it. And it was not an easy swim back to it with the life jacket on. A few more swimmers entered a few stayed on the floats while a few others drifted away with the current not realizing the current. I looked farther out and for over ten minutes a kayak tried to pull one swimmer back to the float line, but it just made no ground. A different kayak was paddling around apparently far less difficulty. The deck crew would wave at people to swim back closer to boat, but didn't seem to understand they could not as they drifted farther away. This is happening over a significant period of time and it is taking that long to put people in the water. It took one of our friends talking to the captain to convince him that many of the people in the water so far away were caught in a current. I was utterly shocked how the boats deck crew seemed oblivious to what was happening with the current. The boats deck crew finally told everyone to get back into the boat that was near it, and this still while someone was telling my wife to go ahead and get in. So I had to tell my wife to stay on the boat. Loading back on the boat, the boat had a shelf about 15 inches wide at water level, but it had no stairs. Some folks had to pulled up by their life jackets, which at the end of the day left a couple of my friends with sore bodies. After loading the close swimmers from the floats/lines, the boat repositioned to where most of the swimmers had drifted and with the one well paddled kayak crew, the swimmers were finally collected up. I should not be surprised but they sold us a boat that was meant to be double decker WITH a slide. That was the whole point of doing a spalsh pad cruise. We were put on a small boat and allowed 10 min (if that) to jump in the water. We were told we would go deeper in the sea and we would be allowed to jump off again.. never happened. Mind you we were a group of 12!! I called ahead to make the reservation and I even went in person the day before to pay for all of it upfront AND i was shown the picture of the "boat" we were meant to go on. The only good thing about this experience were the workers of the boat they did great at serving us drinks! We never had to ask before we had another one in our hand. read more

If you want to go out in a boat I recommend you go to where they launch and buy your ticket there direct . There are sales people out on the streets that are all hustlers and they just want to sell you the timeshare and if you give a deposit you're more likely not gonna see that deposit again and there's a good chance your trip will be canceled due to not enough people booked. We gave our deposit to Armando who met us at the boat dock just to tell us the boat wasn't going out and he didn't have our $20 deposit to refund. He showed up to just to try to sell us on the timeshare again. read more

Super fun.Got drinks back to back. The micheladas were on spot. One of the best ones I had so far, could not stop drinking them. Music was good. The boat ride was about 2 hrs from 5-7pm so try to get there early maybe 30 min in advance so you can get a good spot as it does fill up. It stops in the middle of the ride for those who want to swim. They give you a life vest and let you be inside the water for about 20 min. So don't forget your swimsuit. They will refuse to give you a refund, when they cancel the trip. They bumped our Bird Island tour for two days, due to low attendance. We had book with another company. They won't return emails or phone calls. After further research, sounds like this their game plan to scam. read more

Probably the best $20 spent. 2 hours across the Sea of Cortez at sunset. Add delightful December weather around 70 degrees, and a sunset to knock your socks off. Great Bloody Mary's and music, but most importantly my hat off to the crew who kept the drinks pouring, the people dancing and caterered to our every need with a friendly smile. read more

We paid a deposit at their stand by El Coyote for jet skiing. We received a official receipt etc, map, but once we got to the beach, they were impossible to find. There are countless other jet ski companies all of which have NO SIGNAGE nor wearing t shirts with the company logo. We walked the length of the beach and were of course approached by every other jet ski company trying to get our business. We ended up just paying some other vendor the remainder of what was owed. My advice is NOT to pre pay anything, just go down to the beach for jet ski, banana boating etc and pay on the spot. Price is the same. Note that there is nowhere to keep your valueables safe, so travel light etc. read more

This boat cruise is a scam!! Avoid doing any business with Ecofun Rentals. We booked 2 hours on the Ecofun's boat the day before. Showed up on time and were told that the boat is not going out, day time cruise was cancelled. No phone call to notify us. Deposit not returned. Our 4 year old boy was most disappointed. If I could post a negative star I would. Be very wary of this tour company in Rocky Point/Puerto Penasco. I bought two tickets for a Wednesday boat trip to Bird Island for the day of snorkeling and diving with the sea lions. I purchased the tickets 1 week in advance. Tuesday, the day before the trip, I went to the office and asked the guy working behind the counter if there were enough tickets sold and if the boat was going out. Ecofun's policy is that they have to sell 20 tickets before the boat goes out. The guy behind the counter told me yes, they had enough tickets sold. I was told to be at the dock/boat at 6:30 the next morning. Come Wednesday morning, we get get there about 6:15. Another family of 5 shows up right at 6:30. They bought tickets at the Mayan Palace and they drove 30 minutes that morning for the tour. Well we waited. Waited some more. Waited 1 hour and 30 minutes, it was now 8:00am. Nobody showed. Nobody called us to tell us the boat was not going out. Paid $200.00, and the family of 5 paid $1,000.00. I go to P. Penasco a lot, so I knew where the office was. I went at 10:00 and asked the guy working why he lied to my face and told me that they had 20 people for the boat, I then asked him why I did not even get a courtesy call, telling us that the boat was not going out. I have a Mexican cell phone, they have my number. The owner is some lady, I've never met, but this company is going downhill. The other family...it was their first and last time in P. Penasco. A couple and their 3 kids. Oh, I got my money back. I'm certain the family reversed the charge on their credit card. SO BEWARE...FRAUD....LIES....DECEIT....Just remember, Mexicans are horrible at customer service. They will smile and lie right to your face. I would not use this tour company. Just Visited Rocky Point and we had such an amazing time during our trip thanks to Eco-Fun Rentals and their staff. We booked two of their tours, one for El Pinacate Adventure and the other for a Sunset Cruise. Benny helped us book both of these tours at our Hotel. He was very friendly and accommodating. He made us feel at ease and assured us we would have a great time. Our tour guide to the volcano Melchor Abraham was just as friendly and accommodating. He provided us with elaborate details during the entire tour. These guys were amazing!! Our cruise was so much fun!! When visiting Puerto Peñasco, this is the company that will provide you with lasting memories for the entire Family! read more
