They provided same day service when my elderly mother-in-law's freezer went out. It all seemed fine when Joe left, then the freezer began frosting every day forcing me to scrap the ice daily. I never experienced this before. When Joe returned he was quite rude saying that he fixed what we told him to fix. We didn't tell him what was wrong, we hired him to DIAGNOSE and fix the problem. He came back and said nothing was wrong and offered no solutions. It continued to frost daily. Luckily, I have a general handyman who diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Wow!!! I'm so happy I found Econo appliance! My refrigerator wasn't staying cold.. I called my warranty company to fix it-they said that the part I needed was discontinued, but JOE was able to take my part and get it repaired and now my fridge works like a champ. A total bummer. I am a long time customer of this company. I have been using them since Stan was new and Dave was repairing. I have referred them countless times over the years. A few months ago, I had a repairman out to fix my stackable washer/dryer. He quoted me 190 bucks. 2 weeks later, still no repair. When he finally showed back up, he said that he did not realize that I had additional problems and upped my quote to the 700s. I ended up throwing out my stackable deeming it unfixable. In case you dont know, stackablez are a fortune. It took a whole summer of going to the laundromat to find another stackable I could afford. In the meantime, I got a call from a woman in the office trying to figure out why my invoice was missing. Apparently the repair person had taken off and left them without a paper trail on a few invoices. One was mine. She apologized profusely when I told her the story. I probably tossed out my washer dryer for no reason. She also stated that if there was anything she could do to retain my business she would help. I tried calling into the office because my new refurbished unit is squeaking. The woman who answered seemed less than interested in my story. I dont think she felt very well. I asked to speak to the owner and she said he would return my call in the afternoon. That was 2 days ago. Epic heartbreak Econo. We were long time business pals and now we have nothing. read more

I called to have our dryer repaired (needed to switch from gas to propane) and I needed it done pretty quickly (I was 40 weeks pregnant and waited until the last minute). I called a few places and got quotes and this was by far the nicest people I dealt with and with the most reasonable price. Was really nervous about calling someone about fixing our refrigerator. Too worried it would cost too much so we kept everything in the outside fridge. Joe installed an ice maker for us in April. The service was amazing as he came out on a Saturday which was most convenient for us. I'm pretty handy and spent several hours trying to figure out why we weren't getting any water into the ice maker so I would say it was not an easy problem to diagnose. Joe spent several hours and together we finally agreed that the relay system was working and the last thing to try was a new ice maker. Well that did it it was the timer in the ice maker that was causing the problem. Joe had the necessary parts in his truck and replaced the ice maker at a reasonable price (as a matter of fact I checked online after he left and his price was $40 less than other options NOT including shipping costs). Part II: This weekend the ice maker stopped working. Joe came out first thing Monday morning to see what was wrong - great warranty service. The problem turned out to be something other than the ice maker which Joe fixed HAPPILY at no charge! Not that's amazing and there is no doubt they deserve 5 stars! read more

Got my dryer fixed and then two months later it was out again, and though it was clearly not from the same problem, labor was still warrantied for me and the permanent fix was made. Had a "door" alert on a built in Whirlpool Gold microwave/oven combo come up when trying to use the microwave. Troubleshot it online and said it was a fuse. Saw the Econo truck around the corner from me and looked them up to see some reviews. Due to yelp, decided to give them a try. Cesar came out and knew exactly what it was down to the exact fuse w/o even having to test. Luckily he was able to access the fuse w/o having to take out the entire unit but by slipping the microwave out as far as it could go, thus, saving me an additional $100. Got the fuse taken out, tested, and replaced within about 15 minutes. He said that he's the one that services most of SD north county so if I need appliance repair in the future I know I'll be using them again. With things like this, you want someone with a ton of experience to avoid a long diagnosis as much as possible. read more

They called promptly to schedule an appointment, and the admin (Genesis) said she would call 30 minutes prior to the tech arriving to give me a heads up - done and on time, on top of being very personable (try getting that from other contractors !!). The issue was that my dryer wasn't drying. Brandon, the technician showed up on time and got right down to business. If you're like me, you assume that a repairman would show up, take a look and have to order a part; which might take a few days and might cost you a little or might cost you a lot. NOPE! After a quick inspection, Brandon determined that the issue was a blown fuse, for which he had a replacement on-hand. After swapping in the new part, the dryer was...drying. The day before my scheduled repair date, someone called me to schedule the time window. The repairman arrived as promised. He was friendly and polite. Unfortunately, my dryer couldn't be saved, but the repairman explained everything to me thoroughly. He even looked at another dryer I had on the property for me. I called Econo Appliance because our nearly new fridge was leaking. I'd initially set up an appointment with 1800Appliance but after reading their Yelp reviews was freaked out enough to cancel with them and call Econo instead. SO glad I did! They sent out Stan to look at our fridge. He was on time (arrived just a couple hours after I called them), extremely polite and professional. Stan confirmed my guess that the drain line was frozen, he spent some time clearing it out from inside the freezer. He then pushed some water down the line to make sure it was clear, and although the water did drain, he said it drained a bit slower than he would have expected. That plus a couple of other indicators convinced him to drag the fridge out, disassemble it from the back and check the entire drain line, top to bottom. Good thing he did, he discovered a nearly complete clog of some random goop at the end of the line. Not enough to completely stop the flow, but enough to cause problems. Had he left it at just cleaning out the more obvious ice clog at the top of the line inside the freezer, the problem would have come back. He also explained everything he saw and everything he did, I learned a ton! He was here for a solid hour, plus travel time, and charged less than $100. Very fair and reasonable, I highly recommend them! read more

My SUBZERO freezer wasn't keeping my food frozen. I called Econo for an experienced SUBZERO technician. My first impression was that this company was interested in helping me; unlike the Box Appliance, the authorized SUBZERO service, who didn't return my call, plus their service charge was exorbitantly high. Econo personnel were very courteous, friendly, and knowledgable; they assured me they would have someone diagnose the problem right away; and they did! The technician was very prompt and experienced with SUBZERO equipment. The freezer was charged with refrigerant and to my satisfaction, it's working great. Fast, professional, knowledgeable service. Of course, no one gets same day service on Sunday, but out of 3-4 shops that I called when my refrigerator broke that day only Econo Appliance picked up the phone. The friendly person that answered the phone on a Sunday advised me that a tech would call me first thing Monday morning and we could schedule at that point. Promises made, promises kept. Stan did a fantastic job in a cramped workspace on a machine that hadn't been serviced, much less moved, since we got it ten years ago. Furthermore, he gave us an option of replacing an entire circuit board, or just soldering the connection on the existing one, a solution that he insisted would work just as well and would cost half as much. I happily chose the second option. 20 minutes later the fridge was fixed, and at no extra charge I received all the friendly expertise and advice about appliances of all types that I could have hoped for.
