This place is a Divine Cesspool of Corruption and Debauchery. I haven't been to many Hotels before this one, and I haven't seen many after as this one left a vile taste in my mouth that lasted a bit. So we'll start from the beginning. The Econolodge Inn and Suites is a 3 Story Hotel located in Auburn Michigan. It holds the Higher Paying Customers on the Bottom floor with Luxurious Rooms, the Second Floor holding the Cheaper Residents, and the Top Floor being the ones who are likely only staying a day or two. They make you sign a contract, explaining rules, etc. First issue is they don't follow their own rules. Drugs and Alcohol, ranging from Marijuana to full Cocaine and Meth is not only used some customers, but also is used by the Hotel Employees daily to plant in rooms so that they can kick people out and keep the money they paid. I witness this myself during my stay, as the blond head cleaning lady planted what I can only assume was a Heroine needle in a chair to get rid of a customer who still had a whole week left. He was never refunded and was even confronted by police.
Tim Hinman and Dave Patel are the ones in charge of this operation that involves scamming customers out of hundreds of dollars per month (I paid about $750 for a month during my stay, which left me without food or proper supplies as I was affected heavily by the Pandemic). The Econolodge has been investigated several times, and each time they have evaded legal repercussions. I lived in the Econolodge Inn & Suites Hotel for nearly 3 weeks in the Summer of 2020 before being kicked out over asking for a pillow in which mine were taken by a Blond Cleaning lady (Camera outside my room at the Lobby Side of the 3rd Floor Confirms this). They had cleaned the room no more than twice in that entire period of me living there. The first was by a young lady who was very decent and very much a caring individual, who they fired for not wanting to plant drugs in rooms. Out of spite they also kicked her family out who were staying there separately on their own budget with nowhere to go during the 2020 Pandemic. A child was evicted here as well, which was a member of that family. I also witnessed Tim Hinman and his behavior towards the woman and her child, which was both very inhumane and very very disturbing. I was evicted shortly after as the Blond Haired Cleaning Lady went into my room, did a very poor job of really doing anything to clean (Trash Can was still full, No sheets were changed, and Bugs were still moving about the mattress, which I had asked for a way to fix and they said "You brought it here, its your problem") and she proceeded to take the pillows, only to not bring any of them back.
I have slight back and resting issues, so with no pillow, I think it was appropriate to ask for one, though I started with two in that room. I was then berated by mister Tim Hinman, accused of stealing it while still living there, and told to get the F*** out of his hotel. This hotel is already a pisspoor excuse for a decent respectable human environment, but I was forced to leave, and just like the family not 2 days prior, I was homeless, and wound up moving in with some friends later on.
I also had my room changed without proper acknowledgement before my eviction, having been told in the middle of the night by Tim Hinman to change from a 2 Bed Suite that I paid for to a room that was mostly filled by a Jacuzzi that both didn't work and was very must a burden for space. They broke their contract with me, as all contracts go two ways, and then not only refused to refund me for the disgusting and extremely disturbing activities that they participated in, but also were completely okay with Illegal Substance use and Activities on their Premises, Endangering Minors through Dangerous Actions and Employees, Scamming Customers and Framing Customers in order to keep money without providing any real service, and showing a lack of Civil and Human Rights within their establishment.
I would request a Full police Investigation into mister Tim Hinman, Dave Patel, and their Employees. I would also wish to press legal action for the obscene environment in which was provided, and if possible a permanent shutdown. I hold Tim Hinman fully responsible for my experience as he was often there the most, and Dave Patel as well, as he told me to F*** off when I expressed my concerns civilly before being thrown out. The Front Lobby Cameras can confirm this if they haven't already disposed of them as well. However due to how often they get away with this, I wouldn't be surprised if this goes unnoticed going forward until more victims of their operation come forward.
Summary: Poor Service, Dangerous Environment, A Haven for Drugs and Alcohol even with Family Present, No Regard to Human Rights, Obscene Employee Standards, Bug Infested, Contracts Broken at Will, and a Waste of your Money on multiple fronts.
