Sink very outdated and the water plunger missing
Dave I.

Pictures on the website are very misleading. Cheap enough to stay here but there's a reason for it. Smells funky just walking into the lobby. EVERYTHING needs to be updated from the lobby to the rooms themselves. If it wasn't for the fact that the employees were great and there wasn't any bed bugs, I wouldn't even rate this hotel. Outside in the foyer there's a sign says no smoking but 100 butt's on the ground. Advertises breakfast and there is none. Advertised a gym and there is none. Room completely out dated. Choice Hotels should be embarrassed to have this place still open. They do house a few homeless people. They weren't a bother though. Maybe this is why no gym and no breakfast

Don't get your hopes up. Yes, it is lower priced ( low being relative at more than $200 a night) than most other chain facilities in Ithaca. But there is a reason for that. First the ok-good points. Fairly comfortable bed. That's about it. Air Conditioning kept things cool as well but the noise it made made sleep difficult. Discounting the fist-sized dent hole in the bathroom door was prevented by looking in the bathroom. Yes, it was clean after I discovered that the marks and scrapes in the sink and tub were just the finish being totally worn off. No coffee available, no breakfast. The exercise room is closed. I suggest looking elsewhere.

came here august 2023 and it was amazingly bad. Holes in walls. entry smelt of mildew. Rooms smelt badly of cigarette smoke. Stains all over carpets . bed mattress holder had tears in fabric . carpets not up to edge of wall and unpainted brown plaster showing. never seen anything this bad - I thought it was a condemned building dressed up as a joke.

Dirty towels?

This hotel made me nervous when I booked on Hotels.com but I was trying to be budget conscious when on a college tour w my child. I even "up graded" so the budget was not inexpensive... I knew that scrolling to find a non smoking room was a bad sign of what was to come. When we arrived I had to initial that I wouldn't smoke in the room... when I walked in the sheets and covers were holy with cigarette burns. The towels were brown with stains and the remote was lost in a trash can sitting a brown liquid. I would never take my shoes off... the bathroom is a whole new story too. To the front desk credit... they did clean the trash can, brought clean towels and a clean remote. They offered a small credit for the trouble.

RUN!!!! These yelp pictures are so deceiving and nothing like the place looks in person. There were stains on essentially every surface including mattresses, sheets, pillow cases, etc. The bathroom is disgusting, rotting wood, hairs in the bathtub blood stains? The door looked like it had been violently kicked in multiple times and the room smelt like moldy cigarettes. For $130 a night this is a joke and I wouldn't pay $10 to stay here.

Staying here because got the room for 80$ in Groupon/ I was scared!!! Because of the mixed reviews plus I'm traveling alone w my 9/14 boys. Lady in the front desk pretty decent, hotel is in a deserted strip mall ( or maybe it is deserted because is Saturday?). Smells like an old hotel but once I saw the room I was at ease. Clean bathroom and room, ac working good and quiet. Breakfast was great! Eggs/sausage/bacon/ pancakes/ cereals/ juices/ yogurt..

Better than sleeping in your car. Dirty rugs, thin walls, squeaky doors so forget about it if you want to sleep late. The staff was nice.

We had to let the shower run for a few to reach hot water, but other than that, it was just fine.

So many good things about this place, but a few negatives that slightly marred the experience…read more First, the areas for improvement: 1.) none of the USB ports at the bedside tables worked. None of the four. It's a mild inconvenience, to be sure, but having to plug everything up on the opposite side of the room was a pain. 2.) my shower wasn't clean. It's a lovely big shower with a little ledge inside for sitting/shaving, but mine had crusted soap (I guess?) from a previous and stuck to the ledge, there was hair in the shower, and shampoo (I guess) on the walls. Neither the hair, nor the old shampoo were mine. 3.) I could have sworn I selected the option for breakfast being included. I paid $250 for the room. Turns out I was mistaken and had to pay for my breakfast. In the grand scheme of things not the worst thing in the world, but when you're paying $250 a night breakfast shouldn't be an additional charge. This is a Canopy property, so of course the decor is stunning. There's a lovely fireplace in the lobby, and from the light fixtures to the artfully displayed knick-knacks all over the property, this place reads luxury. A few good things: 1.) the employees. There's an airport shuttle from Ithaca, and when the manager, Charis, came to get me he was incredibly kind. He took my bag to the hotel and dropped me at a local restaurant so I could enjoy happy hour oysters, AND he came back an hour later to pick me up. SO kind. Sam in the restaurant made breakfast a delight. She moved quickly and pays attention to guest needs. Great response time and knowledgeable about the menu. 2.) there's a free shuttle for local stops near the hotel. This is honestly the reason I chose this location as opposed to any other, and this free shuttle availability saved me at least $100 on Ubers during my day/night in town. They really don't mind running you here and there, and it's a wonderful little treat. 3.) breakfast is great. I was torn between the Eggs Benedict or the Lox, and at Sam's recommendation I opted for the Eggs Benedict. GREAT choice. The hollandaise is delicious, the bacon is crispy, and the English muffin is perfectly toasted. Poached eggs are an art form as far as I'm concerned, and these are beautifully done. The breakfast menu here in general looks great, and if this dish is any indication, you likely can't go wrong. 4.) they're actively working to reduce plastics at this location. I love that there are glass bottles in the room that you can fill with ice and filtered water on every floor. Talk about intentional. Kudos on this front. 5.) getting a late check out was easy. 6.) the location is ideal for exploring the Commons, a pedestrian block of little places that's crawling with college kids. It's easy to walk to a local bar and have a quick drink, but be careful where you go...I went to the Chantillery (or some such nonsense), and they absolutely scammed me on the one drink I ordered. The good things about this place far out number the negative, but for $250 a night, this should be a 5-star experience. Even though the hotel fell short in a few ways, the people here would encourage me to come back. I'd just ask housekeeping to go over the room once more before I checked in.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at the Canopy by Hilton that I feel others should be aware…read moreof. I briefly pulled into the parking lot to get my belongings, and instead of being treated with basic courtesy, I was confronted by a staff member who spoke to me in a threatening and aggressive manner. It was completely unprofessional and honestly shocking for a hotel that presents itself as upscale. On top of that, the parking situation is absolutely terrible. The layout is confusing, spaces are limited, and it feels very poorly managed. Even if you are a guest, it doesn't seem like there's any effort to make parking convenient or stress-free. Between the hostile interaction and the frustrating parking setup, I would not recommend staying here. There are plenty of other hotels that treat people with respect and don't make something as simple as parking a headache.
