Who ever heard of a hotel that calls itself an "airport hotel," but which does not provide airport transportation and is not within walking distance of the airport? The Choice Hotels website states that the hotel provides courtesy transportation. This is false - they do not have shuttle service to the airport or provide any other "courtesy transportation." So I had to pay for an Uber to take me to and from the airport, which is a couple of miles away. The Choice Hotels website states that the hotel provides a free hot breakfast. There is a notice posted at the front desk that they do not provide breakfast of any kind. The front desk staff were nice. They said they get these complaints all the Time and they have asked management many times to have the website information corrected. I am offended by the false information and false advertising. This place is rip off. read more

2/5 stars Too many hygiene and maintenance issues -- not worth it unless you're truly desperate. The biggest issue with this hotel is the air quality. The ventilation system is clearly not working or not maintained. The room smells musty and stale, and there's a real risk of mold or mildew. I had to keep the window open at all times just to breathe comfortably. Cleanliness overall is below standard. While I was lucky to have a clean bed and bathroom, the room still felt a bit grimy. I found a long black hair in the towels, and the mini-fridge smelled absolutely putrid, so I couldn't use it -- which meant my food spoiled. The hallway stinks like urine, and the stairwell is filthy. Just walking in and out of the building feels unpleasant and demoralizing. Honestly, I started avoiding going outside just to avoid dealing with it. Everything was horrible. I frequent 2 star motels all the time, and this was the worst experience ever. I could not turn on the faucet and when told to the front desk they said you can. I n e very could and had to brush my teeth bending over into the shower. Not acceptable. People were out in the gazebo doing drugs and hanging out at night. The sink had red splatter on it. We were there 3 nights and they never came in to change the beds. They cleaned the room a little on one occasion. Pictures on the website are very misleading. Cheap enough to stay here but there's a reason for it. Smells funky just walking into the lobby. EVERYTHING needs to be updated from the lobby to the rooms themselves. If it wasn't for the fact that the employees were great and there wasn't any bed bugs, I wouldn't even rate this hotel. Outside in the foyer there's a sign says no smoking but 100 butt's on the ground. Advertises breakfast and there is none. Advertised a gym and there is none. Room completely out dated. Don't get your hopes up. Yes, it is lower priced ( low being relative at more than $200 a night) than most other chain facilities in Ithaca. But there is a reason for that. First the ok-good points. Fairly comfortable bed. That's about it. Air Conditioning kept things cool as well but the noise it made made sleep difficult. Discounting the fist-sized dent hole in the bathroom door was prevented by looking in the bathroom. Yes, it was clean after I discovered that the marks and scrapes in the sink and tub were just the finish being totally worn off. No coffee available, no breakfast. The exercise room is closed. The front desk staff were very friendly, so I'm sorry the hotel is in such disarray - but the general areas are terribly dirty and the smell is a smokey slap in the face. The bathroom was clean - grateful for that. But overall- It's really bad - no - seriously - worse than whatever you're thinking. The carpets are positively filthy, stained and cigarette burned. The parking lot is disheveled, with yellow tape roping off sections, broken asphalt everywhere and beer cans in the lawn (and it was Milwaukee and Natural Ice beer to make it worse). The hotel signs have fallen off the sides of the building entrance. If they would at least steam clean the place it would be a 50% improvement. The only reason to stay here is in case of an emergency. read more

This hotel made me nervous when I booked on Hotels.com but I was trying to be budget conscious when on a college tour w my child. I even "up graded" so the budget was not inexpensive... I knew that scrolling to find a non smoking room was a bad sign of what was to come. When we arrived I had to initial that I wouldn't smoke in the room... when I walked in the sheets and covers were holy with cigarette burns. The towels were brown with stains and the remote was lost in a trash can sitting a brown liquid. I would never take my shoes off... the bathroom is a whole new story too. There were stains on essentially every surface including mattresses, sheets, pillow cases, etc. The bathroom is disgusting, rotting wood, hairs in the bathtub blood stains? Geez, this place is kind of the worst. Stayed here as part of a class trip, and even just pulling up you kind of go, ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not so sure about this place.... Well, every suspicion we had was correct. We had about 10 rooms and more then half were disgusting. Between dirty sheets, poor smelling rooms, stained rugs, and other things, this is not worth it, even at $25 a night I'd pass on this place. Should have done research before booking this place. Beds are shit & the room REEKED of cigs even though we were "in a non smoking room." We couldn't even open the window more than a crack to air out the terrible smell. Thank god we stayed for one night. This place is in dire need of a few hundred thousand dollars in repairs, upgrades, and improvements. First, replace that 80's casino carpeting that's rotting away from the edges of the walls. It's so dirty you can't see the pattern in the hallways. Nice lobby, basic free breakfast. The last time I stayed here was a Thursday through Sunday, so I was charged one price for the weekday then a higher price for the weekend, but this is Ithaca, not Paris. I understand the higher price for the weekend but not a 35 dollar jump in price. It's a mute point anyway, the toilet in the bathroom continuously ran and couldn't be fixed so they gave me a 35 dollar discount per day since there were no other rooms. The beds are comfortable though, the pillows are awful. It's close to both colleges and handy, but there are nicer places to stay in Ithaca. read more

Suffice to say there was blood on my bed sheets and comforter, a cockroach was in my bed, and I had to have all of my clothes dry cleaned after leaving because they reeked of the god-awful fug that permeates this hotel. the hotel management gave me another room, which I begrudgingly accepted, and give me a complementary night's stay, which I of course never used. I arrived at the econo lodge late on friday night and checked into my room, we were unaware that the AC unit was malfunctioning and went to sleep, The room was also in disrepair and not up to a level of cleanliness that would be acceptable at any star level. On waking up my partner and I were awakened to a room that was not air conditioned, and in the sunlight much less clean that we had noticed at night. There were repairs made by the hotel staff to the remote control with scotch tape. None of the outlets covers were screwed into the wall either. We spoke with hotel management in the morning and they offered to upgrade our room, I said that I wanted a refund, and to be moved to an equivalent room. They did move us to another room, which did have a working AC but was also in disrepair, and reeked of ammonia when we walked in. Other exciting features of this hotel are extremely dirty hallways and stairwells. The wireless internet's dhcp service wasn't running, and there are very few outlets near the beds or desks that are open, and those that are aren't screwed into the wall. Definitely a bad idea for business travelers as well. I guess they have a waffle maker and batter dispenser in the continental breakfast area. Thats probably cool. Do yourself a favor, spend an extra $20 a night and go to the clarion next door. read more

My family and I were supposed to stay there while moving my daughter into her local apartment. Upon arrival, it was hard to find because there is no signage out front other than a small sign that is not visable from the road. As we drove up to the building there were yellow caution tape closing off a part of the parking lot. In addition there were questionable looking people just sitting in the parking with dogs roaming the parking lot. We drove around the building it didn't seem to be in good repair and felt unsafe even going inside. I recently found out that my daughter's roommate's father was also supposed to stay there that night and felt the same as I did and also left. They charged my card and when I contacted Choice Hotels who is the parent company all I was offered was 10,000 choice points for a future stay. Don't waste your money! read more

My husband and I were looking for an inexpensive hotel in Ithaca for a few days and settled on the Econo Lodge. It is a budget hotel, so don't expect any frills. But, we didn't plan on spending much time in the hotel and just needed a place to crash every night. It was perfect for what we needed. It was very clean and the bed was fairly comfortable. However, our room only had one nightstand which was slightly inconvenient. The shower was unexpectedly great, and they did provide little soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. There is a free continental breakfast, but we didn't partake as we were up and out quickly every morning. The room did not have a coffee maker, which was a first for me, even for budget-friendly hotels. There is a Target almost across the street that has a Starbucks though, so we quickly stopped there on our way out each day. There is free wifi, which worked well (in some hotels I find the wifi can be slow). The hotel is conveniently located close to downtown Ithaca as well as surrounded by places to get food and other stores such as a drug store across the street if you forget any of your toiletries. We will definitely stay here again the next time we spend a few days in Ithaca. read more

BED BUGS! I wish I had looked up reviews before booking the hotel. I get it, it's an ECONOlodge. It's not going to be beautiful, or even comfortable. It's just going to be a place to sleep and maybe eat breakfast. All my expectations were met until 9am of our last day in town, when we found a live BED BUG on one of the pillows. We bagged it and brought it to the front desk. The manager on duty wanted to kill it - I told her not to so that pest control could confirm/deny it was a bed bug (I am sure it was). They refunded my 2 night stay and scheduled a pest control company visit w/in 24 hours. This is also expected. They were supposed to follow up with me to let me know the pest control report. They have not called and will not take my calls. I also expect that they should reimburse me for any cleaning services or replacement of goods I need to do so that I won't have to fumigate my home. But I literally have not been able to speak with anyone knowledgeable since checking out - despite calling every morning since. Again, they have BED BUGS, don't stay here. read more

Upstairs was about 4000 degrees in the hallway and inside the rooms; the ac was certainly not up to the task. Room and bath seemed clean, with no bedbug activity on the sheets or bed. Came here for Ithaca college orientation . Stayed for 2 1/2 days . The hotel is about 15 mins away from the college so the drive was very quick and easy . The hotel was not hard to find at all . Convenient that it's next to a strip mall ( Tj Max , big lots , rite aid , Pizza Hut and others .. Also across from a target ) I felt pretty safe at the location . The rooms were pretty clean , a little dark though . The AC worked well . The bathroom was clean , we did get soap and shampoo ( to those complaining about no lotion .. Come on now .. You're staying at econo lodge not the ritz Carlton ) the staff was friendly and accommodating . The breakfast did have whole wheat bread , 3 different cereals to choose from and pancakes , scrambled eggs , juice , sausage , bacon , Fruit Danish and some croissants . The ONLY complaint I do have is the walls were thin .. Although I did get the worst hotel neighbors anyone could ask for . Crying kid , banging on doors , walls ..screaming couple ( I learned their whole drama in 2 days ..) Overall , I'd stay here again . I really wouldn't even give this place one star, it is that sketchy and bad. First, the smell upon entering is old, musty and years and years of cigarette smoke stench. The room key machine wasn't working, so upon getting to our room the door was ajar and a very thin door at that and it barely latched all the way. The room was dark and very tired looking. Even though this hotel was apparently "recently remodeled" it didn't feel anywhere near updated. The smell in the room was of a heavy cleaner masking cigarettes. There was an educational pamphlet on the mirror about human trafficking and signs to look for. I've never stayed in a place that warned about human trafficking. I had a bad overall gut feeling about this place, and my 15 yo daughter was with me, so we grabbed our bags and left within 45 minutes. read more

What a dump. I am certainly not getting anything for my $135.00 a night. I understand that the breakfast room was undergoing remodeling. Breakfast, though, was a disaster. All pre-wrapped food, nothing cooked on premise. Nothing like other places that I have stayed. The room smelled of mold and only got worse when the very loud air conditioning unit came on. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom needs work, towel racks coming off of the wall, badly needs overhauling. Toilet is designed for a very small person. If you are over 5' tall you are in trouble. Stayed at a Comfort inn in Va. last night. What a difference. Half the price and twice the value. Much cleaner overall. Breakfast was real food prepared on premise.. Overall Excellent. It was not worth $170 per night! The staff when we checked in did not seem to know what she was doing and charged my card twice. When the pancake mix ran out at breakfast, the lady acted like it was such a big hassle to grab some more. We stayed the night of December 2 2017.We stayed in room 122. Pros's .... overall the hotel was clean, friendly staff at check in. Cons....Every time the heat went on, it sounded like there was someone mowing the grass right outside our window. The heater needed some much needed attention. We ended up turning the heat way down. Biggest disappointment was the continental breakfast. This is the main reason why we chose this hotel over some others that were slightly less expensive. The pancake machine had a sign on it that read "out of order" , we sat down and waited 20 min for the cook to bring out more eggs and sausage. Come to find out the lady cook was sitting at another table talking with other guests, not even paying attention to the food station that ran out of eggs and sausage, or the garbage that was overflowing. When she finally brought out the eggs, they were cold! It gets worse, the toaster was broke! it was on the counter, not worker! The lady cook did take it off the counter, and huffed away, probably to write another "out of order" sign for the toaster.
