The remodeled Econo Lodge is a great place to have a night's rest. The staff was extremely kind and professional even though we checked into our room at 12:30 am. Thank you for employing great staff. Room was clean and well stocked with items needed for a night stay. I usually don't tip housekeeping but we did here because of the clean room. AC will get to a nice comfortable sleep. Very dirty, rude staff and will blatantly lie to your face. Exits don't close and aren't monitored so anybody can walk in. The first floor hallway reeked of cigarette smoke, the room had a smell of mildew. There was an insane amount of dust. It was apparent all the housekeepers do is change sheets and restock. read more

Super friendly and informative staff, clean rooms and convenient location in downtown Prineville. The room had a large modern bathroom, clean new microwave and mini fridge, comfortable bed, work table and chairs, new tv and an electronics charging dock. The room was a reasonable $59. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that the complimentary breakfast was lacking in comparison to some other EconoLodge locations. They had large muffins and bagels with cream cheese. I try not to eat things that heavy in the morning and usually choose fruit or cereal when it's offered. That is the only thing that would have improved my stay as everything else was great! read more

Pretty old building and outdated everything. But they seem to have at least upgraded with new, comfortable beds and light fixtures. Other than that, old showers and other furnishings. Yet it all was clean and didn't feel bad for the price. The AC units are fairly loud and Tvs are small. Staff was fair, they resolved small issues promptly but seemed a bit slow with stocking and cleaning up with the continental breakfast. It ain't much but was fair for the price. I'm on my way to Madras to see the Solar Eclipse. I decided that I would stay in Prineville for the night, and chose the EconoLodge. I got a good price online, the place is very clean, and the room was just what I needed. Nice bed, table with 2 chairs to comfortably eat a meal in the room, great cable TV, air-conditioning, small microwave and refrigerator. In the morning, in the lobby, you can get complimentary coffee, juice, bagels, muffins and/or toast along with fresh fruit. I had a nice apple with my bagel/cream cheese and coffee. The inn keepers/hosts were very friendly, social and accommodating. (I requested a non-smoking room, close to an entryway, and that was arranged before my arrival.). I was very pleased with my choice of the EconoLodge in Prineville, and highly recommend this location! read more

My work got me a room here but we have since removed it as an option for a place to stay. This place should be closed. Sheets had stains on them, slept on top the covers fully clothed. I could even feel the springs in the mattress through the covers, I can't imagine what it's like under them. Started the shower and it smelled like urine for a couple minutes before it cleared up. You can here people walking down the halls and talking from the beds. You have to stand on a chair to turn on the ac, I'm 6'4" and I had troubles seeing what position it was in. The continental breakfast was a choice of stale muffins or stale bagels. Owners need to invest some money into it badly. There's no parking either. read more

When money is your sole motivation, this is the result. Overpriced and under maintained, with an attempted credit card scam thrown in for good measure. The prices were jacked up due to a festival in the area, but that money was not going back into the rooms. Basic level stuff was lacking: Mealy old apples and bottom barrel bread as breakfast. Seriously. The rooms are $85 go spend $1 and get some fresh apples and a decent bread. Scam: upcharges on credit card. I decided to splurge on a room rather than camp one more night. While there I met three other groups of people who had been camping at the festival. Some had dogs, guests, and kids that they were quietly sneaking into their rooms rather than pay the extra $. I did not. I had a guest who I declared and paid $$ for. Frankly the place is rather run down, so what's the difference if a mum has declared to have two kids rather than three little kids? No biggie. Seriously even a dog seemed like no biggie in this 1970s cinder block shack. Well apparently talking to other people was enough for this hotel owner to try and charge me and everyone else for their dog. When I saw the charge on my CC and called the hotel they told me I had a dog with me. When I said my dog was Home in Connecticut and most certainly was not with me in Oregon, and petsitter payments could prove this, they said I should call back in the morning. In the Am they tried to claim at first that I had undeclared guests with me and when I said I had my receipt proving I paid for a guest they tried to say that I ruined their towels. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card. I would rather sleep in my car than give greedy ruthless people like this $$. They have a poverty mindset. read more

I give one star for two reasons: 1. I am in room 109. The bathtub grouting is black with mildew. By itself I would have given two stars. The reason for one star is this: 2. The mildew has obviously been present for a very long time. If management cared about health, hygiene, and showing the smallest shred of respect for their customers this matter would have been fixed in 15 minutes. But it wasn't.. That's the difference between one star and four stars. 15 minutes. Not desk staff (wonderful). Not housekeeping (everything has been cleaned and prepared well). The Econo Lodge in Prineville is a modest, budget hotel at best. The room and common areas are worn, but clean. The breakfast isn't worth the walk to the tiny area dedicated to it. The night I stayed, the fire alarms sounded at about 8:00 PM. Other guests informed us the alarms had been going off all day. Sure enough, the alarm sounded again at 11:00PM and again at 3:00 AM and again at 7:00AM!! You have got to be kidding me. There was no communication from management to soothe worries or offer explanation. This is a bad place to stay. read more

We used to stay here all the time...it will do in a pinch...until we discovered the Econo Lodge in Madras. For the EXACT same price, it's like going from a 2 star resort to a 5. The one in Madras have big, spacious rooms that are spaced far apart so neighbors are never an issue (unlike here, where you can easily hear entire conversations through the paper-thin walls.) They have an amazing full hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit and more (unlike here, where they set out a few muffins and some old bread) They have on-site laundry facilities and a pool. (unlike here) they also offer smoking and non-smoking rooms, which are in completely separate buildings. Really, there's no comparison. I mean for the EXACT same price. It's a no brainer. We drive the 25 minutes to Madras. It's worth it. read more

I don't like to write negative reviews but my experience here was probably the worst experience that I've ever had. Let's start with the room. Not terrible. About what you would expect. It was clean and well stocked. Unfortunately, it was right next to some type of mechanical room that had an electrical motor that hummed and buzzed all night. You could not only hear it but you could feel the vibrations from it so earplugs didn't help. This facility is located right next door to a popular Bar, so, naturally, there was a lot of voices and drunkenness virtually outside of the window, late into the night. Then, at about 3:00am, it was time for a drunken couple to get into a loud, profane argument, in the hallway, right outside the door. That lasted about a half hour before my guest told them to quiet down. By this time, all hope of getting any sleep was lost. The office opens at 6:00am and started serving a pretty nice continental breakfast so I grabbed some coffee and a muffin and took it back to the room with plans of heating up the muffin in the microwave. Turned on the microwave and tripped the breaker which knocked out the power to the microwave, refrigerator, half the lights and the television. I also think I should mention the overflowing ashtray/garbage can right next to the entrance to the units that was accompanied by a large pile of dog shit that was dropped by the big, white, barking dog that was kept in the lobby. When I reported my experience to the girl at the front desk, she was very nice and tried to be as accommodating as possible but did not have the authority to offer any type of compensation to make the situation right. There are many lodging options in Prineville so I would recommend that you select one of them for your stay. Update: I'm pleased to report that I was recently contacted by the manager who was very pleasant and understanding when discussing my recent experience as described above. We had a very nice chat over the phone. I think she showed a lot of integrity by agreeing to refund all charges and I not only want to give her credit for that but I want to thank her as well. I am also upgrading from one star to three stars to reflect my appreciation for her doing the right thing. read more

The beds are so hard, and uncomfortable. The pillows are also like bricks, so between those two I didn't get a good nights sleep in the two nights I stayed there. I so wish I would have paid the extra $25 dollars and stayed at a different hotel in the area. The service was great, super friendly, and helpful. read more

Ok. Usually if I have a bad experience I won't say anything. But I took my two children ages 2 and 1 to stay in the econo lodge. We checked in after driving long hours. I unpacked all our suit cases and when I looked over my daughter was chewing on a container I took it from her and opened it to find weed then looked under the bed as I couldn't find my shoe to find a lighter I immediently took it down and got moved to a room with two bedrooms but I should of left right when I saw the weed. They saw they r a non smoking motel when in fact our whole room had smoke in it the entire time!!!! This place is horrible. But why stop there when we finally packed our stuff to leave the hall ways smelt of horrible weed. I'm sorry but my son had asthma and ended up having an,attack is this awful place. The front desk women was very kind but kept telling me she knows they cleaned the rooms and no one has been in the rooms before I got there. I'm so sad I wasted my hard earned money on this,place. I should of slept in my car. PLEASE DO NOT BEING YOUR BABIES HERE. I asked the women if I should of made a police report and she said no they won't do anything. EconoLodge in Prineville was a good place for a one night stay while I was passing through. It's a budget hotel, so the rooms are by no means in perfect shape. But there was no viable dirtiness or broken/malfunctioning items, so it was all good to me. The television worked, WiFi was good, showers had plenty of hot water, the area wasn't noisy, breakfast was decent, so not much to complain about from me. The price is a little high but it's still considered a "budget" hotel compared to pretty much anywhere else nearby, it is the Bend area after all. read more

First of all, I would give 5 stars for the hosts if I could. Very caring, helpful, and attentive when something is not right. They genuinely care about providing whatever they can to improve your comfort in your stay. We had an unfortunate mishap with an air conditioner not working well, and they really did their best to make it right for us. Modest, clean accommodations with comfortable beds. No problems with noise coming thru the walls; well insulated. We stayed in three single bed rooms and a double bed room, all which met our needs nicely. Pillows were a bit compressed; if you are sensitive to that bring your favorite pillow with you. Other than that, I recommend this hotel as an affordable, comfortable stopping place! read more

I've never dealt with a more incompetent "manager" in my life. I usually never rate places, but this place doesn't deserve a single star. I accidentally booked the wrong days online, only to call the next day to ask if I could change them because the website was giving me problems. Someone with a heavy Indian accent answered (I remember because I called a month later and the same guy answered.) The first time I called, the guy said it was no problem and that he would change the dates. I didn't mind paying the higher rate as long as the dates were changed. He said I should be receiving a confirmation email in the next couple of days, so I waited. A couple weeks later I called to make sure my reservation was indeed changed. The same guy answered (I recognized his voice) and he apparently had no recollection of our call, said there was nothing he could do and he was already "over booked." I'm not an aggressive person. I hate confrontation. I tried to be as civil about it but the guy flat out rude, wouldn't own up to his mistake, and when I said I would like to cancel my reservation he HUNG UP ON ME. I had to go back to my email and cancel it myself. Terrible, terrible service. read more

Planned on going to a cheaper motel in Redmond for a weekend Central Oregon vacation but ended up in Prineville without a reservation and had no problems getting a room here. Me, my wife and son were $76.64. The continental breakfast was standard coffee and delicious Costco-style muffins. Wi-fi service was reliable and had no problems connecting. The location is in the center of the historic part of the city, and you can walk to the grocery store and most of the main restaurants. I also found the location in the region to be a good base for seeing the John Day Fossil Beds, Painted Hills, Smith Rock, Fort Rock and the Lava River Cave, so I booked a second night after finalizing my itinerary. There is an ice machine. Evenings were cool so I never tried the air conditioning. read more
