Room rates are too high. Quality of rooms not worth the room rates. Breakfast isn't very good either.

Weather was a lil colder than we expected for camping (SNOW on the ground), so we retreated and stayed a night at Stafford Inn. Yes, I know, I camp with wusses.. They still say it was the best $80 they spent during this trip :) The room was pretty big, with a small (but old) microwave, which is pretty convenient (which they had a small kitchenette, but most hotels don't). The bed were good and the whole place is clean. The breakfast spread isn't bad. They have yogurt, cereal, muffins, toast/waffles and K-cup coffee.. But when I was there, only decaf were left. For a small rural town, this is an above average place. Nice, clean, spacious, remodeled rooms. The entire place has been remodeled and it is much more modern than before. Although I'm a business travelers and don't use the pool facilities, they do have one indoor for year round use that you can use to wear off a child's energy after being boxed up in a car all day. The reason for four stars are two absolute basics that hotels should have; sleep timer on the TV and the bathroom light and fan on separate switches. For the sleep timer, even though they are newer flat screen TVs, there's no such function on the remote or the TV menu accessible with the remote. No manual button functions on the side of the TV either. This day and age I'm guessing 90% of us go to sleep with the TV distracting our thoughts which then turns off to not wake us later. Not possible here. For the bathroom, most seasoned travelers leave the bathroom light on at night with the door almost closed to create a nightlight effect. Being able to orient yourself in an unfamiliar room in the middle of the night is a good thing to have. The fan/light fixture is so incredibly loud it's not an option. Of all the things not to upgrade in a remodel, they stay with the 60's bathroom/fan combo fixture! All that said, this is without doubt the best place in town to stay (the only other place I've stayed is Best Western which is a dump). This is my second stay at this Inn in the past two years. It is now called Country Inn after a name change last Nov. 2017. This is a fairly new motel, very clean, very modern, very friendly staff. As an army veteran they gave me a very healthy discount. THANK YOU COUNTRY INN. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who travels. read more

Canceling reservations and jacking up the prices by a few hundred dollars per night is greedy. The Oregon Attorney General's office is investigating this and I hope it bites them in the ass. read more

In town for an overnight while exploring. My wife and I attempted to find a decent hotel and were turned away from the name brand hotel because it was sold out. I will start with a positive. The night we arrived, the front desk attendant was helpful, had local knowledge and was willing to share her experiences with us. While overall, this is a decent property, It definitely needs updating. The pool area is horrible. No hot water in the rinse shower, ventilation was bad causing the paint on the walls to peel and mold, windows needed cleaning, and the hot tub had used Band-Aids on the drain. In addition, the pool was advertised as heated, but was as cold as an Oregon river. The room was "clean" but we were seriously disappointed with the bedding. Pillows as dead as you can get, and the worst thing - a cheap "wool-like" mattress pad on the bed. You could feel it through the sheet - very itchy. Between those two things, neither of us got a full night's sleep. The complimentary hot breakfast was marginal at best. Cold food, hard biscuits, bad attitude from the staff. There were at least ten people in the room, and the staff member started breaking down the buffet ten minutes before cut off time without asking anyone if they were done. I saw two patrons "sneak" from their chairs to get more food once the buffet attendant went into the kitchen. Seems like the chickens are running the hen house in this property. Management needs to manage. Good location in a town which will be growing in the near future, my advice to you is make another choice if you can. read more

We camped in Prineville for the eclipse and stayed twice here, once on the way in and once on the way out. Totally satisfied. The pictures are not accurate as it has been recently remodeled. Very clean. Nice beds and bedding. Simple free breakfast. Bath and Body Works toiletries provided which is def a step up from a white bar of soap. Mini fridge and microwave. Close to a grocery store, drug store, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and there is a nice restaurant called Club Pioneer directly next door. Thank you to the housekeeper! We dropped a jar of salsa on the tile floor of the bath area, and she didn't make us feel terrible about it when I said we ruined a towel cleaning it up. Also Morgan at the front desk was very helpful when we arrived for the first night and easily changed our second reservation from two queens to a king. If I ever am in the area again, I would stay here. read more

Our group booked 3 rooms at the Stafford Inn in Prineville, Oregon, US, for two nights: August 19 and 20, 2017. We booked those rooms in December 2015. The Inn is in the line of totality of the solar eclipse that will cross the US on August 21, 2017. The rooms we booked cost $160 and $170 per night. We booked directly with the Stafford Inn with a credit card and received our booking confirmation. Then on November 18, 2016, the Stafford Inn General Manager contacted our group informing us the Stafford Inn has "rebranded". It has canceled previous bookings for the eclipse. We were, however, offered the exact same rooms, covering the same dates we had booked, but for a minimum of 3 nights at $600 and $635 per night. The costs of the rooms are unchanged right up to August 16, 2017, and from August 23, 2017, onwards. So the fact is that they did not really cancel our reservation, they basically cancelled our price. Our original contracted price was $1,016 US plus taxes, but now they are offering us the rooms at $5,610 US plus taxes. With exchange and taxes, our original contracted price would have been $1,557 CAN, but it has now been changed to the ridiculous price of $8,600 CAN. The Inn has clearly realized it missed a business opportunity and has now engaged in the sort of legal trickery that most people find offensive. By "rebranding" the Inn has wriggled out of a binding contract made with people who now have no chance of booking a hotel room in the line of totality (you try finding one now!). We have tried contacting the Manager (the person that notified us they had cancelled our rooms) at Stafford Inn two times, but nobody has replied to us. Our options are to pay the outrageous amount, or just forget about this and do nothing, or to let people know what the Stafford Inn has engaged in - very poor, shady, underhanded business practices. read more

It's not the world's fanciest hotel, but it is really nice for the price. Recently remodeled, and the rooms are modern and clean. The beds were comfortable, and the pillows weren't awful like they are at most hotels. Staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

This hotel is not family friendly. Staff was not sincere after I got disrespected in their lobby by a very rude guest who was drunk and drinking right in the front area. My wife and infant son were harassed and cussed out because were Seahawks fans! I will be choosing another place to stay on our next visit. read more

I was in Prineville for the first time this past week on business, and am happy to write a good review for the Stafford Inn. The front desk clerk welcomed me warmly, and was quick and happy to change my room when I realized she'd put me in a room where the headboard of the bed was basically against the elevator shaft. The room (214) was large, clean, and well-appointed with all the usual things. Nothing particularly fancy, but comfortable and everything I needed. Extra nice touches: The window in 214 overlooks a pleasant grassy field, with hills in the distance. Nice. I'm freaked out by hotel bedspreads, and removed the bedspread from the bed I was using, and 'stole' the blanket from the second bed. When the housekeeper made the beds while I was at work, she kindly made my bed with the second blanket in place. Nice attention to detail, and appreciated. Comfortable linens, beds, and pillows. I don't usually sleep well the first night in any given hotel, but I slept great both nights. Lots of hot water! I didn't use the pool or work out rooms, but they looked nice. I accidentally made an (extremely brief) long distance phone call (basically, was trying to make a local dinner reservation, and dialed my own area code)...I explained it to the front desk clerk when I checked out and she very kindly excused the charge. Cons: The breakfast was your basic continental...nothing that I (as a paleo person) could really eat. There were refrigerated hard-boiled eggs, but they had already been peeled, so I wouldn't eat them. I probably would have, had they still been in their shells. I forgot to tell the front desk, but the security lock (that sliding bolt thing) on room 214 doesn't work - basically, if you engage it and then open the door, it fails to engage. I carry my own security stuff, so it was okay - but if I didn't, I would have insisted to be moved again, which would have been a hassle. Stafford Inn - please fix that lock. The Heating/AC unit made an annoying rattling noise when the condenser kicked on. The second night I just left it on fan, which is nice and quiet. Otherwise - great place to stay, warm, friendly, comfortable, quiet. I'd definitely stay there again. read more

The service at the Stafford Inn is outstanding! I forgot my water bottle - a sentimental souvenir from another trip - in the room's refrigerator and was at least 30 miles away before noticing. When I called, the woman at the desk (whose name I can't recall but it started with "D") was so understanding and accommodating! She promised to retrieve it and send it to me in Chicago. I only had to pay for the shipping, which was completely justified since it was my fault for forgetting it. I just received it a couple of days ago, and am so grateful. Like the rest of these people, I was ripped off by this hotel. They increased my room rate by over 400%. I had made my reservations to stay during the eclipse, well in advance, and all of my plans have been ruined by the greedy management of this hotel. When I called up to try and get an explanation, the manager told me that she doesn't owe me any explanation and then she hung up on me. I hope that potential guests read these reviews and can put themselves in the place of the customers such as myself who were screwed over by this hotel. Then they can decide whether they want to spend their money with such an organization. read more

Room was looking tidy and new. And we got quite an offer to spend a night there. Breakfast was so so but considering price we paid it was fine. My biggest complaint is blinds on the window were not closing so there was no privacy in our room otherwise I might be considering giving it 5 stars. All personsl was super friendly and helpful. We've stayed here at the Stafford Inn many times over the years and have not been happy with the slow deterioration we have seen. I don't know if it's the new management or people just don't care anymore. The bed is HARD making it difficult to get a good night sleep. When we arrived and we went to wash our hands, I realized that the sink had not been cleaned and there was all kinds of 'stuff' on the sink that I had to clean myself. For the prices they are charging now, that is ridiculous! The prices are going through the roof! The vent plate on the air conditioner was completely missing and the interior of the machine was completely exposed. Good thing we didn't have any children that might have stuck any hands in there. Don't think that the Stafford Inn will be our first option on the future. We might just decide to drive that extra 30 minutes to stay somewhere along highway 97. read more

Very Rude and the worst customer service I have encountered at a hotel. Say's their pet friendly but their pet policy is not stated on their website nor any other site you can book off of. I would never stay at this hotel nor recommend it to anyone ever. Dirty, overpriced and plain out rude. read more
