My van died on the I-5 on the way home from Redding. Once I secured automotive repairs, I called in and they had vacancy. Talk about fantastic owners (shout out to Vick) and what an adorable property! We got checked in quickly (and behind us, another stranded motorist!) Once we got to the room, the smoke alarm was beeping, so I went back to the office and Vick was there immediately to change out the battery. My mom's a retired painting contractor with *extremely* high standards, and she was impressed with the quality of the room. The bathroom was nicely retiled, and the shower is the second best water pressure I've encountered. What an absolute nightmare of a place Room 25 Checked in late on Saturday taking a break from driving on way to another location. Got into the room wanted to use the bathroom no toilet paper at all Thank goodness i always have a roll as the car was closer than the office. The AC was the loudest thing Ive heard in my life sounded like a semi-truck engine (no exaggeration), the towels look like rags I would use to wash my car!! The water in the shower didn't get hot. I wanted to leave as soon as i saw there was no toilet paper, and the ac was so loud but the person at check said to my husband no refunds. If I were at check in, I would have asked to see the room first I think when she said that. No rest that night for me. My husband is a trucker and can sleep anywhere. Like I said the AC sounded like a semi, so he was used to it. I did not sleep and was out of there ASAP in the morning. A real disappointment! Driving from LA to Oregon, went out of our way (5 freeeway), because of the good reviews. $66 for a overly dumpy room, which smells like mildew and smoke. Was not expecting big but basic hygiene should be something any business owner should pay attention to. Also, it's time to replace the thread bare towels. Lady on reception was not very friendly like we disturbed her by asking how big the bed was? I will not recommend this place to anyone, there are 4 more motels on the same road read more

What a quaint motel in the middle of no-where California. Close to Yosemite, and sequoia national park. The management was very helpful in recommending directions, and restaurants. The husband and wife who own the place are very sweet, and spent some time talking to me about their beautiful garden and all the different plant species. I give this hotel 5 stars not because of the rich luxurious interior, but due to the whole experience and most of all the superior customer service. read more

The owner is a saint and a person of diligence, hard work and upon leaving was heading out to help clean a room. He smiled beautifully and graciously gifted us with a bottle of wine. So kind. First off I want to say I've stayed in another room that was close to the front desk, and although I was still affected by the traffic noise it was not like the HELL I experienced last night 12/3/2019. I checked in and the lady was irritated because I did not have my card handy, seems I caught her in a bad time in her home. I had booked my room days in advance and explained to her I just needed a bed to sleep for 5 hours before a hunting trip. She purposely placed me in the room right next to the road. People smoking weed in the parking lot was a nice greeting walking to my room. This room faces a car wash, and although it was raining, there were people vacuuming their cars until nearly midnight. I called the front desk twice, first time was because the Direct TV in the room would not connect, as per the message on the screen. She then blames me and says it's my fault for not knowing how to work the TV....I am extremely tech savvy. I then call her and tell her people have been running the car wash vacuum for over 2 hours since 9:45. Her response was "SIR, 9:45 PM is NOT late at night". I told her it may not be late for somebody who works at a motel but for normal people it's late. I might as well been sleeping outside on the sidewalk, the constant noise from huge semis and modified exhaust on cars literally rattled the windows all night. Instead of the owners living in the rooms bordering the office, they should move to the rooms near the street.....the ones with a roach infestation......yea folks turned on the lights and roaches crawling on the walls. There was no phone in the room to call front office to ask for Wi-Fi password but there is a phone line, The bed had marks on it, for late nighters there's not many things open around here but Jack-in-the-Box 7-Eleven Walmart everything closes around 11 or 12. But everything else was OK, it would be nice if they had two layers of curtains instead of a single layer. My 3 children and I were visiting family in Los Banos that didn't have enough room for us to stay at their home. We needed an inexpensive place to sleep and the Economy Inn met our needs well. I spent a few hours combing through reviews for all the hotels in the area and I'm pretty pleased with my choice. For not knowing the area, the hotel is well located along what I would guess is the "main strip" in Los Banos. There's a Burger King right across the street (great for a late night meal), and a Target and WalMart a few miles down the road. The parking wasn't the greatest (not a lot of spaces and the spots were pretty tight). When we returned one evening there was only one space and it was too tight for me to get into. We decided to drive down the street to get some snacks and another spot had opened up by the time we returned. The room smelled a little musty (not a cigarette musty... just a general motel funk), but it wasn't unbearable. Our refrigerator and microwave worked and made it easy to keep 3 kids well fed. As far as size, the room was probably the smallest motel room I have stayed in, but since we weren't spending all day in there it wasn't a huge deal. For what I paid I wasn't expecting a spacious room. The free wi-fi was a nice perk, but I found with 3 kids on 3 tablets trying to watch YouTube and Netflix, their videos kept pausing because it couldn't keep up. The room had a television with quite a few channels so it also wasn't a huge problem. Overall this motel met my needs. I only spoke to the staff upon check-in and check-out and thought they were polite. The room was clean- not 5-star hotel clean but not filthy either. Our AC worked fine and since we were visiting in the summer I appreciate the housekeeping staff not shutting off the AC while we weren't in the room like I have had happen in the past at other places. I understand wanting to save electricity, but coming into a room that hasn't had the AC running at all on a 106 degree day isn't something I look forward to. If we come back to Los Banos, I would have no problem staying here again if the price is comparable to other motels in the area. read more

For an older family owned hotel, this place is pretty nice! The staff is very friendly, you can tell the owner cares about the grounds, everything is currently being renovated and the price is right! I even noticed that they won an award for the best Asian-American Owned Hotel. I completely see the reasons why. Had a great stay! Friendly staff (which I later found out was the owner, Chris), clean and comfortable rooms, surprisingly well cared for and attractive grounds and rooms for a very reasonable price. All in all a very welcome experience, something I don't often expect when I'm trying to stay on a budget for a road trip. I would come here again in a heartbeat. They have plans to improve the place even more and I'm looking forward to seeing it. It is a good option for Los Banos as the area is very limited on hotels The good stuff -They allow dogs -The showers are nice -Free wifi/cable -Low price The eh stuff -Charge extra for dogs( although most places do) -No shampoo, conditioner or soap -Rooms are small (I stayed with my two girls 12 and 4 we could basically just sit on the beds and walk to the bathroom) -Parking is limited (the place is small so I can understand that) -Traffic can be loud if you are in a room closer to the street) -There is only a dirt field next to the building if you need to take you dog to releave him or herself All in all the motel is not great and it is not horrible. My mom and I came in here after a stupendously long drive from Oregon en route to Los Angeles. Its a bit of a distance from the 5 freeway, but not too bad. We got in late- close to midnight, and had to ring the bell to get someone to the reception. The proprietor was nice and helpful in his recommendations for things to do in the area. We stayed in a nicely updated double room- the beds were fairly comfortable. I loved the granite shower! The place looked well maintained and I could tell they had pride in their business. I also really enjoyed the garden and fountain they had by the reception. The Spanish Ranch style of the place was really nice too. Drawbacks were there was no toiletries in the room or a coffeemaker. But they had an espresso machine in the reception- which was good. If I happen to ever find myself in this area again, I would definitely stay. read more

My wife and I chanced upon this gem on our way back from Arizona. This motel is very unusual in just how well it is maintained and how beautiful so much of it is. The bathroom remodel was very expensively done and quite beautiful. The room itself from the carpet to the ceiling was well-designed. The gardening outside was exquisite (really!). The TV had more channels than any motel I have been in, and I have been in way too many. Too start my room #26 a non smoking room had burn holes in the comforter, sheets and blankets. Their response was they are a small inn and can't afford new linnens. I asked about my room being smoky and smelling the owner said it traveled from the other rooms and it smelled like smoke because I did not want my room cleaned every day. During all this arguing the owner became confortational and got in my face and said you better watch what you say to me and then pushed me into a concrete pillar giving me two cuts on my head. Stayed long enough to take a shower, sit on the bed and watch a 2 minute clip of the news and saw something that made me want to ask for my money back. Rather than give me my money back they basically called me a liar and smirked as they told me the room was 'used'. In the end, I paid $39 for less than an hr stay and rude treatment. And for what? First the good news: the rooms were fairly recently redone and nice. Tile floor, paint, fairly good decoration.Nice plants in courtyard. Bed was OK though small for two people.For a 50's era courtyard motel, they've done a good job. So, now the bad news. Sullen desk clerk. Not sure of her age but reminiscent of sullen teenager who just doesn't want to be there and is letting you know that. No affect whatsoever. Curtly said "drivers license and credit card." I said "please?" hoping to remind her of the basics but, alas, no reaction. Signed in. Took key. Left. No "have a nice stay!" or "Welcome to Los Banos." Arrgghhh. The fast food industry (mostly) got rid of people like this 15 years ago when they realized the backlash was tanking them. This is a classic case where a machine would have done much better. At least someone could have programmed "Please" & "Thank you" into it. Then got to the room and was overwhelmed with some sort of perfume they soak it in. Almost unbearable. Fortunately, I'm not allergic or sensitive to scents but, if you are, you won't be able to stay here. I'd read one review where a person had to go sleep in her car. We tried to air it out but it had no effect. Finally, although I know it's not uncommon in small rooms, we needed the heater on at night and the constant cycling of a noisy machine made sleep difficult. Oh, and the traffic noise. You're only feet from the main highway/street through town. The U shape of the traffic court amplifies the sound. Literally THE WORST motel I've stayed in, in my life and thats saying A LOT! My boyfriend felt the same way and his expectations are lower than mine. We both could not wait to get to sleep so we could wake up early and high tail it out of this jail cell of a room early without even showering because quite frankly that tiny, dirty, no hot water shower scared both of us just looking at it. I'd give zero stars but they only let you give it 1 star at very least. Keep going, do not stay here. The pics are decieveing and our motel room looked nothing like any of the posted inside pics. Maybe those pics are from the 1 room they renovated but ours was not. There was only 1 pillow for each of us and it was nasty. For $60 a night this place is a great value. Ran out of energy around 2am on the 5, found this place on Yelp. Our room was clean and the bathrooms and other fixtures were new and very nice. We had a comfortable, quiet night's sleep and were on the road again early the next morning. The owner was friendly and the whole place is covered in flowers. Read some good reviews so thought I would give this place a shot. As soon as I walked into the room I was very dissapointed, the room was dark, small, and very uninviting. However after one minute I saw a huge cockroach crawling up the wall and told my husband to go inform management right away. The manager said they would spray something in the room tomorrow. I said no that is not our problem, we have our children staying in here they can not just start spraying stuff. I immediately left and requested a refund. The woman in the front wasn't very happy about it but they granted my request. I went down the street to the America's Best Value Inn, for just $1 more dollar a night you will be much better taken care of . Wouldn't recommend this place at all! Great clean room and for a great price! We paid $55 incl tax and it came with 2 beds. The bathroom was clean and the shower was newly tiled. After checking in, I immediately went back to Yelp. Was I staying in the same motel others described? Yikes! I'm giving two stars... One for having a pet friendly room and one for vintage surprise. We got a room with two beds. One is literally tilted. Everything seems old... The linens, the carpet, the tv, the bathroom. Our shower is green and pink tile. Straight out of the 50s, no kidding. I think the sheets are 100 count. To be fair, the room seems clean. On the other hand, while I had my dog in the courtyard I think I saw a drug deal go down. read more
