I was very impressed with his knowledge, willingness to teach me some new things and overall, just being a super friendly person. This is the type of small business I WANT to do business with. Great prices, honest service and family owned. I will always get my CO2 and propane from H.J. Poist from this point forward. Chris! Two notes - 1) Go to 9225 route 1 right off of 32 for gas fillups. Don't go to the downtown Laurel location (that is corporate offices) - I called first and it prevented me from going to the wrong place. 2) If you are a local person who has a kegerator or homebrews, this IS the place to come to refill 5lb tanks. i do not recommend this company at all, they have workers who do shoddy work, they came to fix a valve on our plant and put together a rig with old pipes and it leaked propane at a point before the valve, when the worker came back he suggested it was only a small leak, a small leak is a leak none the less, then he got belligerent about it and told the manager to go fuck his mother, this man is still employed by them, he should have been fired for doing sloppy work with a dangerous material and fired for his behavior yet he still works there read more

Long standing customer who has a tank mainly servicing two gas fireplaces. Didn't meet their usage threshold of 50 gal per year. Was going to charge me $300 penalty each year if I don't use all that annually just for two fireplaces. They have changed their policy every year to kick me out, and I have always had to tell them my situation. This time, they didn't budge and would charge me the penalty. Wouldn't even try to work with me on a solution. This company does not appreciate its loyal customers, and they will not work with you to support your needs. read more

Their techs who refill my tank are extremely nice and respectful of my property as well as knowledgeable. And they monitor my tank to ensure they refill it before it runs dry. From a 6 year Loyal Customer. Six months ago poist said they were going to replace my gas tanks at my residence, with an updated model. They didn't give me a date, but I said "Please get back to me when there's a date." A month had then passed, no call, no date. I then called them. Their response, "No date yet." Fast forward five more months, my gas ran out. I thought, okay they let it run out so they can replace the tanks. Yet, still no call from them. I had to call them. During said call, I made sure all my bill had been paid (which they were), and they said "We are not going to replace the tanks, but we will refill your current tanks for $400. HOLD THE PHONE! There are a multitude of problems with that response. One, they lied and went full ghost, and would have remained ghost until I CONTACTED THEM. Two, if they were not planning on replacing the tanks, why didn't' they just continue to top them off like they had been doing (business as usual). It would have remained the usual 30-40 dollars a month like before. Instead, they not only hiked their prices to 2024 nonsense prices after January, but they said, "It's either $400 to fill the old tanks, or we take them back." I said "take the tanks back!" I don't do business with dishonest scammers. They forget that WE ARE THE ONE'S DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM, not the other way around. Since then I got a really nice air fryer to do my cooking and have not looked back. No surprise bills, no lies. They really could have just topped the tanks off and charged me my usual 30-40 dollars a month (probably $50 a month adjusted for 2024 Biden prices). But no, they ceased contact and service, then tried to force a $400 payment on me. No one should stand for that garbage. read more

Poist came through again! I had a pre-buy with another company and they flat out refuse to answer my calls. I called Poist and they are coming out tomorrow. On 3 occasions Poist saved us from running out of propane. The front office staff are awesome and the delivery drivers are always courteous. Thank you so much! read more

I really can't understand some of these reviews because I have had nothing but an A+ service from these ladies and gentlemen from Poist. They have always been nothing but helpful and very nice and the delivery guys are always prompt and very informative. In dealing with a lot of different companies over my lifetime I have to put Poist up there in my Top all time favorite companies to have had the pleasure of doing business with. I am a small time customer but they have treated me just as important as someone who spends hundreds with them. Idk maybe there was something with the customer because I can't see anyone in Poist treating anyone less than the BEST!!!! THANK YOU Poist for everything that you do for me. read more

I mostly do there for just to get my gas cylinders to be filled up, but just a week ago I went there for a question about a hose that I wanted to have it for testing out door Apliances. A gentleman name Kevin he was very kind and helpful he resolved everything I asked for. I don't have any better words than to say thanks gentlemen so much. I will always go there. Terrible customer service at Poist. A man showed up at our door today and informed us that he was there to take our propane tank that we've rented from Poist for years. We've paid our bill on time every month so this is not a billing issue. When we called Poist, we spoke with an incredibly rude individual named Gene Edwards who informed us that we were not using some secret "minimum" amount of gas, so they were taking the tank back. When we asked what this "minimum" amount was so that we could use that amount in order to keep our tank, Mr. Edwards said, "You know how many people tell me that? We're taking our tank back." We asked several times why Poist never told us about this minimum amount before now, and asked why they gave us no notice they were taking the tank, and Mr. Edwards just kept yelling at us, "We don't want your business! We don't want your business!" We have been loyal customers of Poist for years, paying our bills on time every month, and we are treated like garbage by someone with no customer service skills whatsoever. This whole situation could have been handled with more professionalism, but it's obvious the new owner, Sean Underwood, doesn't care about keeping customers and only cares about profits, which is why he put someone like Gene Edwards in charge. The man who came to collect our tank told us that they have been repossessing a lot of tanks lately without notifying any customers. It's the middle of winter and we have a 15-month old child and a newborn. If our electric heat pump fails or the electricity goes out at all from some snow storm, we have no way to heat our house now due to Poist's draconian measures. read more
