Quick and efficient. Economy did a great job for a great price and they arrived when they said they would. However, business practices are questionable. We were approached by Economy to remove 2 dying trees in our parkway. The first quote was $1500 and he quickly lowered it to $1,100. When we said we were looking into the town removing them, he lowered the price to $800. We told him to leave his business card and we'd get back to him. We called back and asked if they would remove the 2 trees for $500 cash. We agreed on $580 cash. When the owner came to collect, he told me we got an extremely good deal and asked for $50 more. Then he stated that on the invoice it says "no dirt or mulch removal when grinding stumps" and Economy actually removed everything. Not my problem. I felt the owner was manipulatIve. They were giving me a quote to cut a tree down for us and I specifically asked about the additional price to grind the stump because there was something I was going to move to that location when it was done and they said they'd do it for $50 more, which was a really great price and why I ultimately agreed to use them. Then they left the stump. When I called him to talk about it, he called me a liar and said he never said that and got really rude. Totally different demeanor than when they were trying to sell the job. He very plainly said exactly that. They charged $5500 and left the stump completely crooked, a few feet off the ground, making that section of our yard useless. Don't that their word for anything. But they arrived on the expected date, right on time, and were very considerate. They did the job quickly and professionally. I called them to cut a limb over a couple of trailers down, and a tree to cut down. When cutting the limb over the last trailer, the rope broke and the limb hit the roof on the trailer. It damaged the roof and the ceiling inside the trailer. I called them and told them what it was going to cost to repair it. David said he would be by that Friday to pay me. That was 3 weeks ago. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Tuesday (5/17/2022) my boyfriend Shaun and I were out working in the yard. A white pickup truck with Economy Tree Service logo on it pulled up and asked if we wanted a quote to remove the tree stump for a tree that we had cut down recently. We said no that we were going to have the company who cut the tree down come back and remove the stump when we were ready to pay for it. He asked how much they were charging. Shaun told him $300. The guy kept trying to haggle with Shaun who kept telling him no. Then he said he would do it for $200 and be back in an hour to get started (should have been 3pm). $200 AND having it done that day sounded good, so Shaun agreed. We paid a $50 deposit. 5pm rolls around and still nobody came. I called the number on the receipt to find out what is going on. I was told that they got held up at a job and would be here tomorrow (Wednesday the 18th). I understood however, a phone call would have been nice you would think. Wednesday comes around and it rains. I assumed they wouldn't be coming out because of the weather but yet again no call from anyone and no answer when I called. Thursday rolls around and Shaun makes contact with them. They said they couldn't come Wednesday because of the rain. We figured but then he told Shaun that the guy who made the quote had no business quoting us that cheap.. that its a $300 job. Shaun said that that wasn't his fault. Thats what we were quoted (its on the receipt we got when we made the $50 deposit) and that's what we expect to pay. Honestly, at that point we should have just asked for our deposit back and been done with this tree "service". He agreed to do it for the $200 and to come on Friday 5/20/2022. Well, after 3 days of playing games they did come and grind the stump today... The owner was very unprofessional and an all around asshole. He said they don't remove the ground up stump and it will be $50 more for removal even though on our receipt removal for DEBRIS is checked yes. He said to count our blessings for getting such a great deal, asked for a tip, and then said we need to get the debris cleaned up because if we don't he could get in trouble with Portage for leaving it!!! I completely understand that he probably didn't make a whole lot of money on this job. However, that is not my fault and to sit there and make comments like WE'RE ripping HIM off is completely out of line. We did not negotiate the pricing THEY DID. I hope that whoever Economy Tree Service tries to get business from does what we should have done (and usually ALWAYS do) and checks out their reviews.. including on the Better Business Bureau's website and heeds everyone's warnings and stays far away from this "business". read more

I paid a down payment for Tree Removal and Debris Removal of two trees. They ground down the stumps and were going to leave the wood chips which is debris. They had no regard for my property leaving holes and tire marks in my yard. They used my neighbor's driveway without asking and were going to leave a mess until she made them clean it up. My roof was covered in in wood chips that I had to clean up myself. I have had work done by other companies and they left no damage to my property and totally cleaned up the mess. The crew's appearance was disgustingly unprofessional. When I called the owner about the damage and the mess he hung up on me. Don't use this company. The summer of 2020, I arrived at home to find my neighbor was having a tree removed by Economy Tree. Once I was inside, one of their workers (who I soon found out was the son of the owner...I believe the son's name was Gabriel), knocked on my door and tried to sell me tree removal service. I declined and told him I rent. After trying a few more times, he then solicited me for prostitution! I quickly declined. He asked me, "You're not going to tell anyone are you?" Feeling creeped out, I ignored him and immediately called Economy Tree's office and asked to speak to the owner. The person identified themselves as the owner. I told him that one of his workers had just come to my door and solicited me for prostitution. The owner immediately said he would fire him. I said, "Don't you want to ask me questions about who it was? How can you fire someone if you don't know who it was?" So he said, "It was my son. Was he a heavy-set guy?" He was. The owner told me that he had issues with him doing that in the past and he would handle it. He later called me back and said that his son wanted to apologize to me and stated that he knows his behavior could be bad for business. I declined to speak to the son, but told the owner that I truly hope he fires him and I told him to tell his son to stay away from my house. Today, 1/23/2022, an Economy Tree truck was shoveling snow in my alley. Then I hear a knock on my door. It was the same unprofessional Economy Tree employee that was supposedly fired during the summer! He asked, "Do you remember me?" I said, "Yes, what do you want?" He offered to shovel my driveway. I told him I don't have a driveway. Then he asked for my phone number! I told him no and he apologized profusely and left. Now I'm wondering if I need to file a restraining order against him. They owner lacked professionalism and the crew acted as if they had no idea what they were doing. The owner claims to be religious, with bible verses on some of their trucks, but is a hippocrate. Their crew was expecting us to buy them lunch and us the bathroom. The "boss" sat in his white Dodge truck the whole time and bossing the help - insulted a bigger lady that walked passed the house on the sidewalk. Make sure they didn't damage any of your lawn or landscaping before you pay them cause they won't call you back after you pay them. First off they cut the wrong branches that were discussed ahead of time. We discussed them putting down plywood so the truck engine doesn't burn the lawn"guess what they burned the lawn.. then as they were leaving they ran over my landscaping stone perimeter smashing it into the ground. Going to cost a grand to have it fixed. Little dude in the white pickup truck is your best Freind till you call him back then no call back. Very unprofessional!!!!! Gabe randomly pulled up and gave me a quote. Trustingly I gave him a deposit and he said we will start tomorrow. Got a call the next day from his dad "The owner Mike" saying I was quoted wrong and he needs a few more hundred. As I refused he said he can't get up my hill so he cant do the job and hung up the phone on me. I called his son Gabe for more details (who I started business with) and his dad snatched the phone to say "Dont call my son, I talked to you already" and hung up again. Felt like I was talking to a child with severe anger issues. Wish the story ended here. Got home to my lawn damaged where they attempted to drive truck up hill and trees marked with a huge orange X. On July 29th an estimator from Economy Tree Service came to my house to look at two trees in my back yard and give me a price on what it would cost to have them removed. We talked about what was involved and we negotiated to a price of $800. I did not have all the money together that day and I apologized for not being able to offer the job that very minute, but I told him I would be in touch as soon as I was able to commit to payment. On August 6th I called the same estimator and told him I had the $800 if he still wanted to do the job. I specifically said that if he couldn't or was unwilling to do the job at this point that it would be perfectly fine and that I would understand. He said he could do the job for $800. He then asked if I wanted the stumps removed as well. I said that it wasn't necessary at this time, that it was only the trees that I needed removed right now. He then offered to remove the stumps for an additional $100. Given that that was less than I could rent the stump grinder for to do it myself, I agreed. About 40 minutes after our phone call he stopped at my house to deliver the written estimate. I let him into the backyard and he starts looking at the trees again. He then tries to negotiate for more money, but I decline to pay any more for the job than we had already agreed to over the phone. He writes the job up for $900 for two trees taken down, debris removed, and stumps grinded. He says the crew will be by at around 8:30 am the next morning to start the work. I gave him $100 in cash as a deposit on the job. At 7:30 am the next day the owner came by my house and starts saying he would need more money in order to do the job. I cut him off and say no. At this point I was very aggravated that every single time after I think we have an agreement someone from this company keeps trying to pressure more money out of me. I decline to pay any more money for the job (which I didn't have anyways even if I wanted to) and the owner gave me my deposit back and left. My problem with this entire experience is two-fold: 1) The estimator was, in my opinion, an extremely pushy and abrasive person. The first time he was out at my house he seemed as if he was offended that I was even negotiating on the price, he almost seemed as if he was trying to bully or intimidate me into paying more by raising his voice and getting loud, and then continued to act as if he was doing me a favor by even taking the job. I want to point out that the estimator had two opportunities to inspect the trees for as long as he wanted to. If he honestly felt it was not a job worth what I was willing to pay, he had ample opportunity to say so and decline to take it in a polite manner. Raising his voice at me was unnecessary. 2) I rearranged my entire schedule on less than a day's notice to make sure I was home to let the crew into the yard to start the job. If they didn't want to do the job for $900, they should have said so before I went through the trouble of changing around meetings. I do not want any business to do a job if they feel it is not worth their time or that they will lose money on it. However, that doesn't mean that I can magically afford to pay more than the price we negotiated to, and I do not have such copious amounts of money that I can take a day away from my work for absolutely no reason. If the estimator screwed up by taking a job that was less than profitable, the business should have still upheld the commitment they gave me. Sometimes employees screw up and cost businesses money. That's the price of doing business. You do not then purposely inconvenience someone else because your employee made a mistake. Overall I found the employees and the owner of Economy Tree Service to be very unprofessional and not a company I would recommend doing business with. I am very sad that instead of writing a stellar review of how well I was treated by Economy Tree Service, how affordable they were, and what an awesome job they did, I instead had to write this very negative review. read more

We were a little concerned seeing other reviews but the deal for removing nine trees we wanted to give them a try. The price was amazing for the work they had to do their team showed up on time and they cleaned up very well. We even have a neighbor that was concerned about her lawn they were nice enough to explain to her they will make sure they don't leave anything in her lawn. I have to say our experience was very good they were very professional and we live next to a fire department they made sure not to block any openings for them which we were concerned about!!! Do Not Do Business with this company. EXTREMELY pushy, will come to your front door and ring your bell for unscheduled solicitations. My mother in law was interested in removing branches from a tree in her yard. The guy came to the house in the morning, pushing her to remove the whole tree and another tree she wasn't even concerned with. then they push her for a deposit. before he leaves he tells my mother in law not to cancel because other customers have cancelled before. my mother in law paid the deposit and agreed to let them remove the tree. HOWEVER she found someone more knowledgeable, more courteous, and more professional, so she decided to cancel and go with the other company. I called to give this company the bad news, I apologized, even told them to keep the deposit for wasting their time. the owner Mike was EXTREMELY Rude, then his worker starts calling and texting my mother in law, shaming her for cancelling, telling her she is "wrong" for cancelling and he already had a group of guys standing by. SO, I called Mike to ask him to stop harassing my mother in law, keeping the deposit is a way of saying sorry I wasted your time in my opinion. Gabriel drove up and down my street shouting at people from his white truck asking about removing trees. He wouldn't talk to me like a potential client just kept throwing numbers and deals at me. When I agreed he said credit cards are fine for the deposit then said he would rather have cash or a check. After receiving my check he shouted at my neighbor and asking if there was a check cashing place around. My wife called to cancel as we had an unforeseen loss and would not be able to pay him for the job. Owner collected $200 deposit in November of 2014 with the promise to cut down tree in February/March of 2015, if weather permits. In January of 2015, owner comes by my home to tell me that he doesn't think he can cut down the tree for the price he quoted me and he will return my deposit to me if I couldn't pay more. When I talked to my husband about our conversation, my husband agreed to accept the deposit back. When I called the owner to get the deposit back, the owner told me that on his contract, it says he doesn't have to return the deposit and hung up the phone. read more

My 91 year old mother called for an estimate on having some dead branches trimmed. Gabriel showed up and gave her a $3200 estimate for the work. She called me to ask if that was okay. I said to thank him, we will be getting 2 more estimates and will call him back. He dropped the price to $2500, but only if he could start tomorrow. I then talked to him and repeated that we will be getting the 2additional estimates and he dropped the price to $2100. I told him that still didn't change things. He then dropped it to $1800. After we hung up, he told my mom $1500. She called me to say that she told him yes. I asked her to tell him no, that we are going to get the 2 additional estimates. He then started yelling at her (I could here him over the phone), using F Bombs. That's right - Yelling and swearing at a 91 year old woman !!!! I told her to go run in the house and lock the door since she said she was frightened. I called their office and spoke to Katherine and calmly explained the situation. Said they would cut them small and put them in a nice pile, so they can be used in the fireplace. Well that didn't happen. They left huge chunks of big branches & tree trunk all over my yard. They were so big, I couldn't even move them. Then the guys were taking breaks and sitting on the swingset that they broke. One guy stood on the plastic glider seat and snapped it in half. One big guy sat on the airplane seat and broke it. Granted the set was older, but still provided hours of fun for my young grandchildren. Also during one of their breaks they lit up a marijuana cigarette. There were 4 of them smoking it. Owner was notified and had one excuse after another. First of all I tried everything I could with this company to avoid writing this review but was left no alternative. My neighbor notified me on June 20, 2017 that Economy Tree Service would be cutting trees between our houses on the morning of June 21, 2017 and I thanked him for informing me. The crew arrived early afternoon and I was doing some work on my laptop when heard a hard bang. I went outside to look around my louse and didn't have to look long. The crew had let part of a tree hit the front corner of my house which damaged my gutter that is less than 2 years old. By that time the crew was setting up to cut a tree on the other side of my neighbor's property house. I approached a crew member to inform him of the damage to my home. The spokes person of the crew then offered me the option of cutting a tree on my property OR sending someone out to repair the damage. To think about and let him know which option I would prefer while they were still completing their job for my neighbor. I then started looking at the gutter in detail when my neighbor asks me what was wrong and I showed him. I told him the options I was offered and he got upset because the tree that the spokes person mentioned as an option to me, my neighbor said he had paid to have it cut also that was on my property because of the berries falling on his patio. That's why he notified me the day prior of the tree service. My neighbor then told the spokes person that they were suppose to cut the tree on my property anyway. The spokes person said it was not on the work order; he would have to call to see if that was true. The spokes person then came back and said it was true that they were suppose to cut the tree on my property. So I ask the spokes person if that meant that I would be getting my gutter repaired and he said "YES". Someone would be out June 22, 2017 and also reassured me before they left the job site by ringing my door bell and verbally affirming. I waited all day June 23, 2017 but no one showed up. June 23, 2017 I called Economy Tree Service and had to explain the issue which I thought they should have known. They said they would have someone come out. I waited till early afternoon then called again. This time I informed them if that did not fix the gutter I would have to do a Yelp on them. Then they said "what are you threatening me". I said "no, am just stating a fact". Later afternoon someone called me and said they would be out to fix the gutter. No one ever showed up so I had to pay someone to fix the gutter.
