Don't be fooled!! Their initial specialists are excellent, knowledgeable, and get you hooked. I had an issue with Black Widow Spiders. The initial guy who signed me up knew all about them. However, after that, it's just throwing money away. The technicians who come to your house have no clue why they are there, so the service is not specialized. They just spray randomly, complain if you give direction as to where you would like them to spray, leave in less than five minutes, and then charge you an insane amount. I called a year ago to cancel my account, was told that I had one more service on my contract and then the services would stop. They continued to come to my house and continued to charge me even after I had called to say that I no longer wanted services. It's robbery. They make it extremely difficult to cancel, and will not refund you if they come to your house after your contract is complete and you have already called to cancel. I am guessing that they make a lot of money through collections by continuing service after it is no longer wanted. I hope that a class action lawyer goes after them. read more

A guy came to my door offering a great rate a listed off all the neighbors around me they also service (who I don't know so totally don't know if that was even true), came back with someone else to do the work and I can see on my security cameras that literally all they did was use a long brush to sweep things down. Didn't spray at all, nothing. Froze our card hopefully before they charged it and are getting out immediately after all the reviews we're now seeing. This company is deceptive and a scam. Two servicemen came door to door last fall offering services. They did a great job, and at the end they held up a phone and asked for a signature for payment and to receive a receipt. They did not say that I was signing a contract, let alone for 24 months, which I would never have agreed to since we were only in our condo for 1 year. I never saw any terms or conditions- this was completely deceptive- I had no idea I was signing an agreement. It took me 30 minutes of arguing back and forth with a customer service rep to cancel the contract, and even then they charged a $150 cancellation fee unless I showed proof of moving, which is ridiculous. I was visited by a door-to-door pest removal man in summer 2024 about spraying my home for spiders and other insects. He showed me the prices, which were fine, and said that to receive services I would need to sign up for a 2 year contract but that I could cancel for free after the first two services periods. He didn't even allow me time to read the contract. The services didn't even do what was promised (there were still loads of spider webs at my home after both times). I tried to cancel after the first couple months and was told there was a $281 fee just to cancel before the end of the service period. I was told if I did not pay they would send it to a 3rd party collection service. The sales guy clearly lied about their service provisions and the company took no responsibility. They begged my step son for information on the homeowners and harassed him until he told them when the homeowners would be back. Absolutely nothing positive to say. Unable to cancel service when contract expired although I was assured 13 times in 10 months that contract had expired. Customer service is oversees, will not contact you to the local office, will not allow you to speak to a manager and continues to try and sell product while I was calling to cancel. Will go so far as to show and preform service stating they did not know contract was canceled. Then they will bill you for the service stating that you re-entered the contract even though you never ask for the service. Had to threaten legal services, which I would've followed through on, in order to get them to cancel the service. Absolutely horrid company! read more

As he went along, brushing away gnarly cobwebs and spraying natural eco-friendly chemicals that are so nearly harmless to humans that if you drank a gallon of them, you'd just vomit it up, take a nap, and be juuussst fine, but you really ought to see a psychiatrist, dude! -- if you really want to kill yourself, there are much quicker and reliable ways than this! Annnnyway, as he went along spraying this human-friendly stuff, we talked about all kinds of things and became fast friends. Of course he can't promise to be everyone's friend, but he'll do you a damn fine bug elimination! He's not technically an exterminator, because he doesn't kill even one bug. Instead, he "sterilizes" them, so they can no longer reproduce. Then in six weeks, he comes back to sterilize the babies that have hatched from the eggs that had already been laid before the first visit. Probably not a single icky bug remains alive to creep you out. But to keep them away even longer, get your neighbours to do it too. Don't you worry your sweet little doe-eyed face one bit, either. You won't even come close to wiping out an entire species. Over in the next town over, and in the many eco-friendly farms in-between, are millions of tiny creatures, of many many many many many many species, doing their day-to-day business eating and f***ing and p**ing and serving as models for Oscar-winning aliens! Don't do it, especially don't pay for an exclusion service. We have been with them for 3 years and while most of the the service and treatments are good, not great, they were sufficient. Enter, "The Exclusion Service." We have never had rodents in our house but the technician pointed out reasonable areas where they could get in so in an act of being proactive mixed with complete stupidity, I agreed for them to fill in some gaps around my garage door and put a new weather strip at the bottom. Now I have 4 metal straps hastily screwed into my garage door and the weather strip at the bottom allows water to come into my garage. 2 text messages, 2 emails, 7 phone calls and 650$ later,not a single person can/will talk about it with me. I would much rather a mouse get in my garage as opposed to a flood every time is rains. As stated above, if you need someone come and spray outside, they may be your match but if you want any level of honesty, customer service or integrity. There are better options out there. So if you are looking for an exclusion service, exclude them as an option for pest control. read more

The slimey sales guy said they can prevent bed-bugs and will come in under $100 a treatment - when in fact, they cost $170 a month and to get out I have to pay an additional $300! Proshield Pest now Ecoshield pest? Why the name change? They came to my house and said my neighbor used them. I verified and they were. Nice sales pitch- but when they came to apply in and around the exterior my home which is fairly large 4800 sq' they were done in 15 minutes? I asked about the basement? Window wells? " oh" . Then I read about the extra treatment that I had to pay for. I figured that this was the first application which tends to normally be overkill to make that client happy. And I don't like micromanaging someone that should know the business. I just had a gut feeling and decided to cancel my service within my three day right of rescission. My husband is dying of terminal cancer. He called to cancel his service because he will only live for a few more months and we will be selling this house and we don't want any chemicals around it. Even after explaining his reason for canceling, the customer service person pushed for him to take a lower price. He explained that he was dying that he wasn't going to live long enough to have any benefit from pest control. The customer service rep talked over him as he was explaining, and tried to sell him on a different plan. My husband was almost in tears, saying," please don't be so cruel. A large No Soliciting sign on the front door didn't deter them and when I pointed it out he all but ignored me and continued with his pitch. He was not invited, and he said he was working for a neighbor behind us and said he saw I had paper wasps and if I signed up real quick within a day or so he'd take 50 percent off. Asked for a card, did not have. Checked other consumer sites and found the same story acted out across several other US markets and then folks couldn't cancel. Don't fall for it. And Axel, if anyone from Eco shield comes again I'm calling the police. Don't even try. Visible posted no soliciting sign. Your people in other metro areas don't respect those signs either. Very shady and pushy. A guy showed up to my house trying to trick me into getting their services. He was predatory with his approach. He said all my neighbors hired him and he was gonna give me the "group rate". Then he let himself into my backyard trying to open my shed and told me to make sure to keep everything unlocked. EcoShield (door salesman) offered a 2 cycle service. As he put it, I thought I would help a local business. Once the 2 cycles were complete I received notice of a 3rd appointment at which point I canceled. They then billed me an additional $150 because of the cancelation indicating that I broke a contract. In an attempt to make it right they offered me a discounted rate to continue the service as a means to avoid the charge. I agreed however, they called me back indicating that their management team no longer agreed. At this stage they have threatened to collect through a third party. In retrospect this is my fault for not insisting on reviewing a contract up front and not thoroughly reviewing the web of emails/documentation sent to me. I acknowledge the business response below. They've already declined to help me and have sent me to collections. I'm preparing for legal action. read more

A very aggressive, door to door salesman tried to scare my wife into believing "all your neighbors have black widows". Pointed at a cob web in the rocks and said, "that's a black widow web". He was insistent on getting into our garage so she came in to get me. We did not open the garage, I walked around the building to tell him we're not interested. #1 we do not have black widows, #2 I had to tell him 4 times that we're not interested. I informed him I spray for bugs myself and I don't need a service to do it for me. He kept saying, "so you know what to look for then?". Awful company set on deceiving you at every step of the way. The agent who pitched the services to me explicitly told me the signup would include a comprehensive treatment in and around the house for all possible pest control issues, including the cockroaches. Before signing the agreement I explicitly asked him if the cancellation was free of any obligations and he confirmed that despite 12-months contract I was free to cancel at any time with no obligations. I just had to call the office and inform them about my decision. The deal sounded very good and I immediately signed up and received the first treatment on the same day. Several days after I went through the emails and read the Ecoshield contract and was surprised to discover that the cancellation involved the fee of $200 dollars. I tried to call, but the lines were busy, so I waited until the next service and immediately informed the person about the situation. He called the office on my behalf and reported the issue. He also urged me to call the agent. I left the voicemail on agent's phone, but he never bothered to call me back. I reported the issue to the office over the phone several times and I kept asking every serviceman after that to report this issue and request a competent person to call me back. No one ever did over the course of next six months. Meanwhile, I discovered the cockroach infestation in my house and alerted the Ecoshield. Turned out, their "comprehensive care" service did not include the German roaches. I had no idea what the difference between regular roaches and German roaches were, but when the person pitched the service to me and I asked about cockroaches, he promised that their treatment was also included with the service. I ended up paying $300 more for that lie. I eventually cancelled the service and informed the company that I would not be paying the cancellation fee, since the agent clearly lied to me about it, but they have been nagging me ever since and threatening to involve third-party collectors. Stay away from these crooks if you don't want to have the same experience as I did. P.S. Their service is just as poor as their honesty. Their people would spend no more then 3 minutes around my house. They were always keen on leaving as soon as possible. Who knows if they even sprayed anything worthwhile. So, so terrible. I rarely write reviews but my experience with EcoShield has been so awful that I felt like it was my moral responsibility to help other people avoid falling into the same trap that I did. As with a lot of other reviews, I found the sales to be super pushy. But if it actually worked, that would be forgivable. They said things can get worse before they get better following the first treatment. They sure did! About a day after or first treatment we immediately started finding mouse droppings all over the interior of our house. Never something we'd encountered before and really unnerving with Hanta Virus being a thing. Even after follow up treatments, we saw no improvements. Yellowjackets, etc all over the place in the summer. Finally I called to cancel and, regrettably, I agreed to keep the service when they said they'd drop my quarterly payment from over $200 to $120. They also reiterated their "satisfaction guarantee" and said my next service would be free. This was something that I confirmed verbally with the technician before he started it when he showed up. Spoiler alert, I got an email saying $120 was deducted from my account as soon as he left. I called for a refund and they said that only touch-ups are free and this was a "quarterly service" so it could not be refunded. TLDNR: Liars, makes things worse as opposed to better. You'd be better off setting your money on fire and hoping the smoke keeps bugs away. read more

A guy came to my door after 8pm and went into his sales pitch. I had to stop him at some point and ask what he was selling. He chatted me up like all door to door kids do(please stop training people to be so fake), and never said his name or what company. He had on the logo shirt and the laminated placard with prices, AND claimed the neighbors signed up. When I asked for a card to chat with my husband, he didn't have one. I had to go get a piece of paper to write down the company, his number and a price. I think it was a made up one at $159 for first and every other appointment every 3 months. It wasn't super clear but I wasn't feeling well and standing on my front porch so I just asked the one number. I was lied to by them about pests at my property as we have had a second company come out after signing up with them to do an inspection and told me what was said to me by this company was false information. I have had more issues now today since this company has started "servicing" my property. I wish I had read the reviews online before signing up with this company as they are a scam. The solicitor had told me I can also cancel at any time without a fee and now that I want to cancel there is all of a sudden a fee. What these guys are doing should be illegal.
