I have been sitting here reading reviews and this companies response and I can't help but laugh. They say their sales people are trained to communicate clearly the terms of the contract and cancellation. What a joke and what a lie. My deceptive and conman of a salesman made himself out to be the service tech in the area doing houses in the neighborhood. He told me I could get 1 , let me repeat that, ONE treatment for $139. No contract no commitment . He had me initial a couple things on his phone which I was very stupid and didn't look at. He told me his tablet was broke and was very good at making sure all I saw were the lines to initial. I believed him. After he left I started looking at reviews and started panicking because he pulled every single thing other reviews had written about as a scam. I immediately called him and he came back . He showed me the reviews for the Wixom store which I do not believe at all after this. He left again and I continued to look at reviews. Then I checked my email and imagine my surprise at my initial on a year contract with 4 more visits at $179 each. I called him again and he gave me some excuse of why it was like that and promised that after my appointment that evening that I would have it in black and white that it was only one visit. After discussing it with my husband he called to cancel that evenings appointment immediately and called the company per contract within 3 hours. Very clearly in the 3 day window yet I am still worried they are going to show up tomorrow. It turned out that the man who sold me this contract was a salesman and not the tech. On the second call to him he told me he was spraying a customers yard at that time. So yeah Ecoshield your employees have definitely been trained , but not to be clear and concise , but instead to lie and deceive to get that contract. How proud you must be. read more

I tried to cancel my service and they lied to me and told me I was under a contract and that they were going to charge me a fee yet refused to tell me how much or when my contract ended. They then sent service on when I had tried to cancel and come to find out I wasn't under contract at all. I used this company for about a year. While I had no issue with the actual service they make it extremely difficult to cancel service when it is no longer needed. It took 9 days and 3 phone calls (with a foreign call center) to cancel the account. Regardless of what you tell them they read from a script and tell you what they can do to keep the account going. Only when I threatened to call the Better Business Bureau did they finally agree to cancel the account. Absolutely ridiculous, I will never use them again. read more

If they are any good at spotting pests they should have had NO trouble seeing it. But good luck trying to stop the service! They make you call the office, where they clearly are trained to resist closing the account by haggling. Mario came onto my Bingham Farms property twice today. The way he talked over me and disregarded my telling him we were not interested multiple times was disgusting. He also made up the name of neighbors who he was "helping". Disingenuous, tacky, and aggressive sales tactics will not work for me. When he finally agreed to leave, he walked across my side yard and cut through our property to go to the neighbor's yard. Even if we *were* in the market for a different company, this interaction was so off-putting that I would never choose Eco Shield. read more

He was rude, forced himself on our property and had no respect for personal space. He stepped into our garage and touched our property without even asking. We said multiple times we were not interested but he would not even listen. Said random names of our neighbors that work with Ecoshield and we don't even have people with those names in our neighborhood. There has never been an Ecoshield vehicle in our neighborhood. For starters, the door-to-door sales people are incredibly pushy. After over 20 minutes of listening to his pitch and repeatedly declining, I finally just told him I wasn't interested in the service because I KNEW my husband would absolutely not want them. While this was true, it was my mistake for saying to this person I didn't even know. A simple "no thank you" should have been enough to make him go away. But then he asked to talk to my husband, who was working in his office and didn't want to be disturbed. He Finally left. But he came back an hour later, asking if my husband was available yet!! He wasn't. So I suffered through another 15 minutes or so of this guy trying to scare me about pest infestation around my house and how they use a pet safe solution and I finally gave in and accepted. I know now that I should have been even firmer with him, and maybe even threatened to call the police if he didn't leave, but he was a young kid- my son's age, so I was trying to be nice. I won't make that mistake again. Cut to the services, in my husband's words (after the first treatment), " You just paid someone $200 to dust the outside of our house with some essential oils. And they didn't even do a good job." He was right. There were never any changes with anything. In fact, I noticed an increase in bugs around our house and inside. But I knew I was in a contract so I waited it out. But this last part is what has prompted me to write this review. As soon as my contract was fulfilled, I called to cancel any renewing services (they automatically renew if you don't cancel after the contract ends). They are making it absolutely impossible to do this. I'm not even going to get into all the details of how frustrating it has been. I will just say that my services were supposed to end in June. It is now mid August and I'm still being told that my account is active and being given the runaround about canceling it. DO NOT use this company. You could put some lemongrass essential oils on a dust mop and just do it yourself, and probably much better! read more

Every single interaction I have had with Exoshield has been terrible. They lied from the very beginning. We have not seen a decrease in bug activity in the two years we were under contract with them. We complained numerous time but were told that we need to give the treatment x amount of days to see results. Still waiting to see results... I just received a message saying they would be coming for service next week but the last time I spoke to them our contract was up. When I called they told me I had another year on my contract which is just not true. I could do what they have done for significantly less money. read more

I just called your customer service line trying to cancel my account. I was surprised when I was told by the customer service rep that there was an early termination fee. When I initially signed up as a new customer, the sales rep never informed me that there was an early termination fee. He told me that after my second application, the third one would be free. He also said, if you're not happy with the services, go ahead and cancel after the free one. Very disappointed to say the least, that is not a good way to do business. Especially when there has been no improvement whatsoever. I will never recommend you guys to anyone and I will tell the handful of neighbors that use you guys to stop as well! read more

Horrible company. When they come to your door, DO NOT ANSWER! This is a scam company that locks you into a contract. If you want to break the contract you have to try and get someone at their customer service who will help you cancel the contract and not try and lock you into something else. I spent just under 3 hours on the phone 3 different times. They change people and you have to repeat everything over. I checked my security and found they could have done more work. That's when I wanted to cancel. I had to pay over $150 just to get rid of them. l don't know why the BBB doesn't do something. We have been very pleased with the decrease in ants since signing up with EcoShield in the Grand Rapids area. The technician (Tim Sam) was on time and very knowledgable. He listened to our concerns and treated all areas of our home where we had seen pests (and a few we hadn't thought of yet!) We know we cant eliminate all of the insects, but our goal is to keep them to a minimum and EcoShield seems to be a good choice. read more

Be aware of their scam strategy. A month ago, their salesman approached to me and offered $209 for a year service - 4 quartely services.Today, they serviced 2nd treatment and charged $209 again. To my surprise, the contract shows that they will charge $209 for each service, total $1,045 for a year service. When I tried to cancel the contract, they charged the initial discount, $300. I ended up paying $718 for 2 treatments. I feel that I was just ripped off. read more

I was locked into a 3 year contract for $onesixtynine per Qrt. It ended last month and I called to cancel and was given very hard sell to stay on. The came down to onetwentyfive but I said no. I asked for 2 x per year they said no. So after 20min and 3 transfers on hold They relented and cancelled, I hope. I will see if they show up in July..... Additionally, the service calls were done on time and professionally. No real complaints there except fee for 15min visit seemed high but that is on me.... read more

They sell you by telling you that youre getting a discount and its such a good deal NO BUGS, the whole dream. Long story short IT DOESNT WORK. I had them come back numerous times to respray and IT GOT WORSE. When i called today to cancel i was told that "they have never heard anything like this" BUT go to the other one star reviews and its VERY CLEAR that im not the only other client that has noticed the bugs getting worse since they arrived. After 30 minutes of him trying to talk me into keeping this trash service he told me that i would have to pay the difference between the regular pricing and the "DEAL" i signed up with. it was HUNDREDS in fees to cancel. (they told us it was a smoking hot' deal because they were doing others in the neighborhood.) we were reluctant to join ONLY did because they told us it would be one payment of $150. today we checked our accounts and found out they charged $150 PER VISIT & put our card on auto pay and renewed us for another year. We are over $600 deep at this point. i called them and the customer service line was absolutely awful to deal with. they took no responsibility. This company is a huge scam! Customer service representatives who can barely speak English. I was told by a door-to-door salesman named Blake I could cancel anytime. After 2 treatments with no real noticeable difference is bugs, I called to cancel and was told I could not. I had a 2-year contract. My bad for not fully reading but I took Blakes for it. I will never recommend Ecoshield to anyone. Actually, steer clear of this company. They also came out on a day that was supposed to storm an hour after they got there. They sprayed and an hour later it poured rain. They did come 2 weeks later and do a touch up but the touch up was not the exact same as the normal service. The most disrespectful company ever. This is the third issue we've had with their sales reps. We have three no soliciting signs along the path to our door. We work from home. My husband was in a meeting and saw them in the neighborhood. Because of the issues in the past, he ADDED a forth hand written sign on the door that said "in a meeting; no soliciting." The rep ignored it and knocked, causing the dogs to bark. My husband opened the door and pointed to the sign. The rep lied and said "I'm working with your neighbors." My husband ended the call with a client, thinking there was a property issue. The rep than starts a sales pitch. My husband says 'seriously, we have multiple no soliciting signs." The rep responds "those don't do anything." Later I saw him walk up to a mailbox flower bed and kick the flowers off the stems. He knew there was no way he was getting a sale. I would guess corporate instructs them to contact owners and IGNORE no soliciting signs. Do you want a company that is this disrespectful working for you? There is also almost NO way to call the local company - good luck if you have any issues. All numbers are corporate (unhelpful) or overseas call centers. read more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM ECO-SHIELD! Complete scam. Door to door salesman came out, seemed like a nice kid, told me that he had serviced some of my next door neighbors, sold me on their subscription. First two applications did nothing to kill the insects in my home. They come out for 3rd additional application "for free", nothing changed. Disputed their, "early termination fee", due to my complete dissatisfaction with their service, reached out via email, no response. Called hotline - goes to a call center in India. Received daily collection calls, voiced that I was disputing and totally dissatisfied, around in circles you go with their "account retention team", threatens to send me to collections. Troy arrived on time, and thoroughly applied treaments in all areas requested. He listened to our concerns and addressed everyone of them while he was visiting. They send very charming, overly aggressive young sales people to your door and point out normal stuff and recommend solutions most people don't need, and make it very expensive to get out of the contract. Have had this service for over 1 yr and still have spiders both inside my home and all so outside. on the last two visits have specifically requested the service also include the interior due to seeing spiders. Oboth occasions the Tecnichian came to the perform the service and only performed exterior ( giving the bright of doubt to the Technicians and assuming communication breakdown between the main office and servicing technician). Notethat a follow up service is free of charge should you require it between the quarterLu service performed. I am paid in full until Aug 16. I called to cancel my service due to the ongoing pest issues and was offered a 50% discount to remain a customer. Was also advised that if I cancelled my contract they would not return to service my home under their "guarantee". Needless to say poor business model and elected to still cancel, partly now because of their bad fait.
