**1 Star - Worst Dealership Experience I've Ever Had** I would strongly advise anyone considering doing business with Ed Rinke Chevrolet in Center Line, Michigan, to think twice. I leased what I was repeatedly told was a **"new" Chevrolet Blazer.** I was told the mileage on the vehicle was simply because it had been **driven from another dealership in another state.** That explanation never made sense, considering new vehicles are commonly transported on vehicle carriers rather than driven hundreds of miles. I later discovered the truth was much different. Not long after taking delivery, I began noticing numerous issues: * The driver's side **Blazer emblem was missing.** * The vehicle has required **three alignments** and still has handling issues. * The digital dashboard/speedometer has failed multiple times, with warning lights illuminating like a Christmas tree. * I completely lost all functionality of the steering wheel buttons. * While cleaning the vehicle, I found **shattered window glass hidden deep in the crevice of the rear seat**, raising serious concerns about the vehicle's history. * The vehicle is now **leaking oil.** After pulling the Carfax report myself, I discovered information that was never disclosed to me before I signed the lease. According to the report, the vehicle had been involved in an accident and had previously been used as a **service loaner/rental vehicle** for customers while their vehicles were being serviced. It was represented to me as a **new vehicle**, yet I later learned it had a history that should have been disclosed. When these issues continued, I met with both the owner and the sales manager to discuss a buyback or potential lemon law resolution. Rather than taking responsibility, they offered to put me into another vehicle with **even more miles**. After everything I had experienced, I no longer wanted another GM vehicle. As more problems developed, I returned to the dealership hoping for a reasonable resolution closer to the end term of my lease. Instead, I was met with what I felt was complete disrespect. The owner became confrontational, raised his voice, and would not even provide his name during our conversation over the phone. I had later spoke with a manager who treated me as though I was an inconvenience rather than a customer with legitimate concerns. Instead of attempting to resolve anything, he simply Googled GM Customer Service in front of me, wrote down the phone number, and told me, *"You can speak with someone on their team or hire a lawyer."* He then handed me the card. I placed it back on a desk because I was already aware of those options that was exactly why I had come to the dealership in the first place. I was looking for accountability and customer service, not sarcasm or dismissal or if I needed a guardian and parent along my side. This entire experience has been incredibly disappointing. I feel I was misled about the vehicle's history, left to deal with repeated mechanical issues, and then treated with disrespect when I sought help. A dealership's reputation isn't just built on selling cars it's built on how it stands behind its customers when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Ed Rinke Chevrolet. I hope my experience encourages others to thoroughly research any vehicle, obtain the vehicle history report before signing, inspect the vehicle carefully, and ask detailed questions before making a purchase or lease. read more

I am a commuter, and today while on i96 this man driving this van in the furthest right lane began to speed up rather than switch lanes as I turned left onto the highway from the on ramp. Becoming angry I was able to pull onto the highway, he then sped past me (we had already started recording him) to get in front of me and then stomp on his brakes. I moved to another lane, and this man did as well- once again slamming on his brakes. He did it a third time until I was able to pull into a lane where he couldn't get in front of me because he'd have ran into a car. I called dispatch and reported his license plate and the company van. What a great representation of a car company. read more

Service Department will lie to your face! Recently bought a new truck from Ed Rinke. Truck had minor cosmetic issues (part fitment, window seal) at time of sale that was agreed to get repaired. Super easy stuff to address. Took my truck in on a Monday; by Thursday they had not even looked at it. Communicating with Service was incredibly difficult and akin to pulling teeth. Erin dodged my calls and refused to follow up with me with any sort of update on my truck. Finally called me on Wednesday and said they pulled my truck in, and work would start on it Thursday morning. On Thursday afternoon, they told me the truck was still waiting in the queue with no ETA on when it would be done. I guess the days of customer service are over because they told me a blatant lie... Save yourself to stress and frustration. Go somewhere else! Why are they storing customer's vehicles in a lot and having them wait around for a week. An appointment system is supposed to work so that someone is available to look at and repair your vehicle at the time of appointment. Terrible system for a large service department. read more

I wish I would've read reviews before bringing my lease in to get serviced. The lady (Kayla Bateman) who took care of me seemed that her job wasnt very important and I had to do it myself basically. She told me that I'd have to pay for my tire to be repaired even though I have tire protection plan. I asked why because Im paying extra $20 something a month for this plan. She shrugged her shoulders and told me all dealerships sell different ones. Sorry maam I dont know that? Like she expected me to know everything, this is my first old change & service since having the new vehicle literally only has 7000 miles so maybe have some common sense that I might not know that kind of thing? So then I HAD to SUGGEST to call the dealership I leased from and find out who my tire protection plan is through. While she was waiting for me on the phone with them she sighed and seemed bored. Like geez sorry. At this point I was shaking so bad as someone who struggles with anxiety, I was shaking from her & having to call people is hard for me. It really didn't make sense why she didn't suggest to call them either because soon as I said "well can i" she shrugged and said something like "i guess maybe they would know" She definitely wanted to scam me & was being extremely rude to me throughout the process. I had to make some light jokes to break the tension but still she was rude. I wasn't going to write a review until i saw the rest of them & Not one person in here is lying about how rude they are. If you need service go elsewhere. I have been a customer here for over 10 years and the service has gone down so horribly. They need to stop allowing customers to make a service appointment. Service people are rude as hell on the phone. Also, you schedule a day weeks in advance only to be told when you bring your car in that it will be a few days before they even look at it. Had I known that, I could've made arrangements for another car without having to RENT one. The man on the phone was rude when I politely complained. All I needed was a bit of forewarning. also, They wouldn't set an appointment without my VIN. despite my car having been there before and my having an account. I bought a 2019 trax and was told it was a good dependable car for me to get yo dialysis, doctors appointments, work. So why am I walking and looking for rides to get me to where I need. If you need service on your GM vehicle, don't go here. They do not know the meaning of "service", it does not exist here. I took my new vehicle in for an oil change and was there 3 hours. I am not sure if it is not enough staff but they need to get rid of the ones they have. How can they make money if it takes 3 hours to get an oil change. I went to the 2 female service advisors several times and they were both very rude. I then saw my vehicle and the guy doing the work was texting more than he was working on the vehicle. my car was finally finished and they pinned it in between 2 other cars and I could not get out. It took another 20 m8 utes for them to find the keys to the car behind me. I wrote a complaint and was told someone would contact me, they never did. Do NOT use Ed Rinke's service department. My wife and I went to the dealership on Black Friday (yesterday) we looked at several SUV's. All vehicles , yes all we looked at , the batteries were not charged, could not open the doors , adjust the seats and so on without the salesperson trying to recharge the battery or crawling into the vehicle. I set an appointment for 9am to get my 2016 Chevy Trax engine light diagnosed and engine repaired. I showed up for 9am appoint and was told when I made the apppoimnment that they had the part. When I arrived they said that they are 30 cars behind it it won't be for a whole week before they get to my car and that I would have to leave the car there and pick up after 1 week. This is unacceptable! They should at least told me this before driving out there to get the work done. Not happy! I bought this car from this dealership. WARNING Short story-crooks, liars and thieves. Longer story- I have a 2012 Impala with about 45,000 miles. Rides like a charm most of the time. It needed an oil change and something was rattling so my husband asked them to look at it. Bottom line they wanted over $600 for a repair. They gave us an incomplete list of the repairs and we declined. We then took the car to a repair shop we've been doing business with-Sterling Car Care in Chesterfield. Every single issue Ed Rinke said needed repair.. had NOTHING wrong! Had a jammed bolt that took them minutes to fix! Notice on the estimate from Rinke... it says control arm-but doesn't even specify which!!! We paid $50 just for them to look at it and give us this rip off piece of paper!!! Never again! read more

This place ain't it!!!! I took my car there for repair due to an accident. My car had so much rain water in the trunk it covered the tire. So I'm thinking they didn't cover the broken window and let my car sit outside for about 3 weeks before they started working on it. And now some of the water has leaked inside my car now it smells likes something has died. And on the inside of my car the glass is fogging up. I visited Ed Rinke Chevrolet in Centerline Michigan back in September for an oil change and a wheel alignment. I traveled to Texas and when I turned into parking spots, I heard a loud thunk and an ajarring movement on the front end of my vehicle. I took my vehicle to El Dorado Chevrolet in McKinney TX and they stated that my control arms were not bolted properly and I had to get that done and a front wheel alignment. I have since contacted Ed Rinke twice on Monday 10/23 and once today 10/26 along with two phone calls to Customer Service to get a refund on a faulty repair. I've leased 2 cars from here in the past 6 months using Lou Plotzke and it's hands down been the best car buying/leasing experience I've ever had. Lou is the antithesis of a car salesman. He goes over and above to make the process as easy as possible and make sure you get the best deal. He's very transparent and never feels like he's trying to upswell or scam you, definitely puts his commission second to the customer's satisfaction. I contacted the dealership when I saw that they had a GMC Canyon Denali I wanted. Someone else had ordered it and then pulled out of the deal. I went and looked at the vehicle. I checked out the vehicle and noticed that there were cloth floor mats in the car. I told them I would take the car and arranged to have a cap put on over the box and told them to make sure that the GMC all weather mats were put in the truck. When I was checking over the vehicle after being home for a while (Late Fall) I noticed that the cloth mats that were in the car were gone. When I contacted the dealership I was informed that when you order a car with all weather mats they don't ship the cloth mats. I did not order the car and the mats were in the truck when I checked it out. The Sales manager as good as called me a liar. They offered me $5,000 for my 2015 Chevy LTZ Malibu. I have been a loyal customer for 20 years at Ed Rinke Chevrolet. Today 6/5/24 I went to get an oil change and free tire rotation at their service department, as I was sent post card for the special. The two women that take the request on the computer told me that there will be no tire rotation for me tody as one of my rims was not a standard rim. I told them that during Covid they were closed and tire kept going flat so I had to go to discount tire to see what the problem. That company discovered that there was a crack in the rim and the one they had was different so they replaced it. I told the two computer women that they had been rotating those tires for the two years after with no problems. Once again they said that tire rotation was not going to happy today. I went up the street to Planet Oil Change and they did a great job as I sat in my vehicle. They pulled out my air filter as I watched and it had an inch of filth on it. I could tell that the Ed Rinke service center must have never checked it in years. I asked then to check my compartment filter and it was also filthy, more than a years worth. Ed Rinke Chevrolet service department is rude and from what I have seen does not do a though job of maintaining vehicles for what they charge to do so. After my daughter experienced a horrific accident and her lease car was totaled, she was told that Ed Rinke Chevy was the place to go for a great price with excellent customer service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! We experienced a salesman who was pleasant and seemed interested in finding us the right vehicle. After the initial meeting where we discussed the car she wanted, he seemed very difficult to talk to. He was at lunch, we waited. We were told he took an extended lunch, we still waited. We were renting a car and had a limited time. We eventually found the car, got the paperwork going and handed the debit card over to make the money down payment. The salesman came back and stated that he needed another card. He stated that the original was declined. When we checked the card transaction, it showed that the money had been withdrawn and was pending by Ed Rinke. They had put a two day hold on the transaction. I checked with my bank and they confirmed it was withdrawn by Ed Rinke. Financial management argued that they still needed another "money down" payment, in essence doubling the amount down. Needless to say we walked away from that purchase. We went to a reputable dealership. Les Stanford Chevrolet was outstanding in every way. The transaction was completed and we drove away with a better deal in a better car in 18 hours. Ed Rinke will be circling the drain soon if they don't get better manners. read more

Bought a $1000 GM accessory tonneau cover for my new truck. Took it home and installed it myself and found several dents in the bottom of the cover. Tried to exchange only to be told by the service manager that "I did that damage to it myself" several times. I asked how I was supposed to prevent this from happening and his two options were to either pay to have had them install it or to have unboxed it on site. Sorry but I dont like paying for things I can do myself and there was no way I was going to be able to get their assistance to unbox, unwrap, inspect, and repack this beast. So I guess I spent a lot of money for no warranty, no support, and a manager that calls me a liar to my face. The other reviews are right, the service dept management is unprofessional and would get negative stars if I could.
