I received a quote for my car on May 23, 2026 for brakes, control arm, 1 struct, sway bar links and cv axle. I only wanted the lower control arm replaced. But as it turns out the work performed really improved the performance of my car. The one struct was replaced and now my car sits up much higher than before. Also, the brakes were done and now I can stop on a dime. My only complaint and it's not really a complaint but I would like for someone from the shop to give the customer a daily status update. I moved into the area in 2021. I am retired and like to get old cars to drive that i could not afford in my youth. between 2021 and 2025 I spent 14000 dollars in fixing and maintaining these older cars to drive. in 2024 a new manager took over and the service quality went to crap. Also the deception and lying became the normal standard operating procedure from the same manager (who is gravitationally challanged). Its like dealing with a slimly used car sales man. I referred 8 of my friends to use the business as well but they are now going elsewhere now. I spent 3 decades in the army and know when I am being bull sh$tted. There are many other garages on Vandyke drive past this one. they all charge the same so dont pay top dollar for a bunch of deception and bull crap. read more

On February 20th 2026 I picked up my van from friendly auto. Driving home from the shop, the hood of my van flew open and completely smashed my windshield and shattered my rearview mirror because the hood was not securely latched shut. I called friendly auto, told the manager what happened, and brought to his attention that he never said anything to me or my mother in law about the hood not being latched when he handed over my keys and let me drive the vehicle off their property. He told me he knew it wasn't latched, and was wrong for not telling me but that he mentioned it to my boyfriend over the phone and therefore felt he was not responsible. I then explained that my boyfriend was not at the shop when the vehicle was picked up(as he already knew) and he did not mention it to me, but despite that, I was not aware the hood was not latched, he handed me the keys and let me drive off without even mentioning it to me or the other person with me. When that hood flew open not only did my windshield and rearview mirror get shattered but I was completely blinded from the road, and that could have been deadly for myself and others. That extremely dangerous mistake that they won't take responsibility for could have cost lives. read more

I have rate a 1 to balance all the good reviews. My experiences have been varied and that's the point. They are not consistent. Even though they are friendly and polite most of the time. Hey running a business with independent mechanics must be a pain! First time I went there all seemed well except after taking back vehicle a smell of urine on floor of drivers side human or pet unknown. Second experience was charging full labor even though shortcuts were taken. 3rd time quoted price was raised 100 because mechanic took so long.....and left a greasy stain on passenger seat! So no, I don't see them as honest! read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel like people should know before going here. I was referred to Friendly Automotive and honestly it was a bad experience from start to finish. They told me I needed around $800 worth of work, but the way it was explained didn't make much sense and felt more like guessing than actual diagnosis. On top of that, they kept my vehicle way longer than expected without clear communication, which just made things worse. What really bothered me is that it didn't feel honest. It seemed like they were trying to find reasons to add more work instead of actually figuring out what was wrong. I ended up questioning whether the repairs they recommended were even necessary. I'm especially disappointed because this place was recommended to me, and now I wouldn't feel comfortable sending anyone there. I'd suggest getting a second opinion before agreeing to any work here. read more

Terrible experience! I took my car here because my family recommended it. I had a coolant leak and took it to get diagnosed. They told me it was the thermostat housing so I paid for parts and labor for housing. I got my car back and there was still a leak. After they misdiagnosed my car they tried to get me to pay for parts and labor again for a water pump. After I declined to pay they decided to act and good faith and repair it on their own. Unfortunately my car was leaking again within a month so I just took the loss and went somewhere else. SMH‍ read more

I've been taking my car to Friendly's for about a decade and recommend them to so many people who used them too however, this place recently went to hell in a hand basket since Chris left. I don't know who the rude, condescending a***ole is who answered the phone but, he annoyed me to the depth of my soul! I am now going to Basha, where they are STILL respectful to their customers, have great personalities and great prices. I went to Friendly's Auto Service a little over a week ago to have my truck looked at for a battery issue I was having. I had been to THREE different places before going there and each place could not help me with a SIMPLE and easy solution like Friendly did. They were very professional, nice and polite both times I had to go there (I went twice due to my work schedule). They were very understanding and worked with me and my schedule to get the job done. Overall, I am grateful for the City of Warren employee who recommended I go to them. The issue my truck was having is fixed and that makes me so happy! Thank you to the Manager (Mr. Bill) who was very nice and friendly throughout my entire time there, he took out time from what he was doing in the front and helped with my truck. I have taken all my cars there. I'm real happy with Chris and the mechanics. They treat me fair. My most recent work I had them do was on my 2007 Dodge Dakota, I had front end work (tie rod, brakes, etc). Then I had new tires out on and an alignment. Runs and rides great. I have been going there for years. This the first that i ever had a problem with rhis place. I took my car up Saturday on 11/21/2020 and advise what need to fixed that i know of and then asked the guy to give it a once over to see if anything else needed to be done. They did advise of the rotors that need to be done. I asked if there was anything else and was told no. Then i advised them I had someone else look at and advise struts need to be done and then they come and advise it needed. I dont know if there machines cant read cause doing what i advise was wrong is not giving it a once over. Plus the one part i took up to have put on they even do cause they did not see it. I'm sad to after this I will no longer using them. Chris is pleasant to deal with but this place has gone down hill. I feel they should do the part they forget and not charge me for the labor for struts do to the issue. read more
