Absolutely delicious! I've been to EDA once before and have been craving their empanadas ever since! Much like last time, there seemed to be only one person running the shop, the place was sparkling clean (including the restrooms), and there was ample seating in the dining area. The music was a little too loud, especially so in the bathroom, but otherwise the café was so nice. The menu is chock-full of delicious sounding dishes and boba drinks, but I opted for two of their ready to go empanadas. I had the Beef & Cheese, and the Chicken Salteña Empanadas. Both were super yummy and neither the beef nor chicken was dry inside. The fillings were savory, the Beef & Cheese amazingly creamy, and the Chicken Salteña a good blend of spices. The raisins in the Salteña did throw me off for a moment as I didn't think they worked all too well with the rest of the texture of the filling, but it didn't detract too much from the empanada. The dipping sauce that they came with was so tasty and flavorful as well! I was only able to finish half of each empanada because they were so big, but the server was kind enough to give me extra sauce with my to-go box. It added another layer of tastiness to the experience! EDA is a little out of the way for me so I'm not able to go as much as I'd like, but I know I'll be stopping in to snag an empanada or a boba tea when I'm in the area. Came in on a Saturday afternoon to purchase a dozen empanadas. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy infusion, and I like to bring tasty treats to the nurses and the nurse station. There are so many empanada choices here. I neglected to take a copy or photo of the menu. I don't think there's a bad empanada on the menu. The owners are super sweet and so engaging. I loved visiting with them both. They hooked me up with a to go bag and boxes so that when I cooked them from frozen, I was able to transfer them to a box and bag and take them to the Cancer center. Everyone raved about them. They loved them and said they were the most delicious empanadas they had ever had. They are super big in size and tasty fillings. If you're in the area, give them a go. Of course, I also had to purchase an empanada for myself as well as a dessert empanada and when I got home, I split them both with the hubs and we were both very happy and content. Even though I was not selected, I joined my wife here for Yelp Elite event. Not sure who I upset.... lol Very good! I had a baked empanada called chicken Saltena which was amazing! My wife had the beef and potato- very good! Both were baked in an Argentinian style. Really good coffee and a nice comfortable place with nice music. The people that work here were very helpful and friendly. This is a little bit out of the way for us, honestly. But we will be back! Always on the lookout for empanadas, I hear about EDA that is close to my house so off I go. One thing to note, they do not have signage with the business name where you can see it off Bandera Rd but if you pull into the retail strip you can see it from the side entrance. Not having been here before I ask the young lady at the counter to describe some of the available fillings and what she would recommend. She happily went through the menu and i dicided to go with 3 sweet (1xapple, 2xdulce de leche con banana) and 3 savory (beef/potato, chicken/potato, and plain beef). Some were already made, and a couple others had to be fried fresh. When I got home I tried them all throughout the day and really enjoyed them all. The outside shell of the empanadas was firm and crispy and did not become running from the inside stuffings. The savory ones were all well-seasoned and were still warm with a nice crispness to the outer shell. They reminded me a bit of Indian samosas. Yummy. The sweet ones were also very tasty but not overly sugary. I especially liked the dulce de leche with banana.... really good. A first time visit & I'm so happy I found this place. The atmosphere is nice and has indoor seating. They have so many options of empanadas so whatever your preference is, there's something for everyone. I purchased a chicken, beef & potato, beef saltena. They were all very delicious, filling and I loved the crust of the empanadas' my favorite was the beef saltena. I also got a strawberry matcha and was very surprised at how delicious it was! I really wish this place was closer to where I live! Maybe it's a good thing that it's not because this good establishment would take all my money. I ordered the "beef anfmd cheese" empanada. It just earned a place of my top 5 snacks. I could see myself eating 2 of those for breakfast. I didn't have time to read the full menu, but now I know they serve fruit empanadas that will be my next order. I also ordered the "Brown Sugar Latte with tea with bobba". I was out and about running errands on this side of town. I had been wanting empanadas for a while but I don't live near any spots. I checked out EDA on Yelp and decided to give it a try. To my surprise, I was able to place my order online. I love guava empanadas but those seem to run out first. By ordering ahead I could guarantee I could get one. I also ordered an apple empanada to try. As soon as I parked, I received a notification that my order was ready. The restaurant has the perfect cafe vibe and is nicely put together. When I finally got home and examined my empanadas I was very impressed. Perfectly golden, the crust was solid. I cracked open the guava one to get a look and it was filled nicely. I popped it in the microwave for 10 seconds and took a trip to the sweet life. Now sometimes I like flaky empanadas and sometimes I like them more like turnovers. I pass by this place all the time whenever I leave my subdivision, but never stopped. I finally did make a stop today to try them out. The restaurant had the same setup as Wei Chow. I was greeted by a friendly lady, and she took my order. Since it was mid afternoon, the display case was almost empty, but I was reassured there were more in the back. I opted for the beef and potato, beef and cheese, and chicken saltena. My order was placed in a small box, and I was given some chimichurri. When I got home I discovered that I received 2 beef and potato, instead of beef and cheese. The empanadas were small but stuffed with filling. I preferred the beef and potato over the chicken saltena. The chimichurri added a nice touch. While good, I was disappointed with the size, especially for the price. Wow, do I have great news for y'all! Empanadas de Acá is now open on Bandera Road. I have been waiting for this to happen. You know I have a new favorite Chinese restaurant, Wei Chow. Well this is a companion business in the same building. They are run by a husband from Argentina (empanadas) and a wife from Taiwan (Chinese food). Together, they have created a wonderful food experience. Both businesses are connected by a hallway. Coffee ordered in either place is handcrafted in Wei Chow. Let me just say that the coffee is amazing. All those little boxed joints opening up can not even compete with the quality and care put into the coffee here. If you doubt my word, order a Vietnamese iced coffee and watch it being made. The young baristas look like they are doing a science experiment. Okay... Let's talk about empanadas. In my lifetime, I have only had a few of these. Some were the pumpkin ones from Mexican bakeries in town. Others were homemade by a friend who had lived in Panama. So, that being said, I am no expert. Once again, I have to say I am evaluating these on the basis of what tastes good to me. And, the ones I had today were wonderful. When you first walk in, you are hit with the beautiful aromas of the empanadas. Then, you look into the cabinet and see a lot of different kinds- both savory and sweet. Some have Spanish words that meant nothing to me. One example is "humita". The owner told me it was corn and cheese. I also didn't know the word "salteña". That turned out to be a mix of chicken or beef with raisins, egg, olives, and a sweet spicy sauce. I ordered a beef salteña and a chicken salteña. They were served with a little cup of chimichurri sauce for dipping. The empanadas by themselves were really nice. The edges were pleasantly crunchy, but not hard. The crust was tasty and did not overpower the immense amount of fantastic filling. But, when I dipped my empanada into the sauce, it was over the top delicious! I chased the empanadas with a delicious cold brew iced latte. A server brought it over from Wei Chow. It was really delicious. If it weren't for the calories, I would have gladly ordered another one. Okay... Here's my dilemma. When I pull up to the building, which do I choose- the best Chinese food in town or some really amazing empanadas? Always a problem solver, I've come up with a plan. First, I'll eat Chinese food. Then, I'll pop next door and have a sweet empanada for dessert. It's all good. Damn, missed the opening and being the first one to review! Anyway, it is located near a residential area on Bandara Rd crossing Camino Bandera, in a small business plaza with plenty of shared outside parking. Cosy and small store that captures your nose with the amazing smell. They have all kinds of sweet and savory (salty) empanadas to choose from. You will always be greeted by the friendly staff with a smile. Tried the guayaba y queso empanada. Perfect sweet dessert after lunch; the surface is slightly crispy and after the first bite the amazing filling will overflow out requiring you catch them. All is worthwhile. Had a chance to stop by this brand new business on opening day and it did not disappoint! I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the friendly service continued. The smells alone got me expected but once I saw all of the various Empanadas on display, I became giddy! I could have ordered ten of these things but one is enough to stuff you. They had at least ten different choices and each sounded delicious. I decided on the Fried Shredded Chicken & a Beef Salteña. Both were overstuffed and seasoned beautifully.
