Great sour pickles. Variety of others: dill, half-sour etc. Hours are sufficient but parking is difficult.

I am in this area often and I pass this place every time, but I hadn't gone in until the other day…read more My Brooklyn personality instantly took over. It's FRIGGIN AWESUM OVAH HEER. I walked through this whole place with someone else, giggling with glee. I saw meat bread (lard bread), I saw a deli counter with delicious cold cuts & ham nobody pronounces right, and homemade salads, and smiling friendly folks behind the counter, and fresh SMOKED mozzarella (motz), which I've been missing ever since I moved to Jersey. There was fresh meats, pasta, fish, and ring sausage, cannoli, and homemade sauces, and pre-cooked Italian dishes for the folks who wanna try it all, but not make it themselves. Plus bottled and canned items I remembered as a kid, and most straight from Italy. The whole place smelled like parmesan cheese, and felt warm. All that was missing was the sawdust on the floors. lol (yeah I'm old). I bought pasta, their sauce, smoked motz, and parmesan parsley sausage links and made a nice dinner for my friend, enough to pig out and store for another day. The meat bread was heavenly, and if they don't have it every time I enter that place, I swear I'll cry. Their homemade sauce was perfection, and the sausage??? FUGGIT ABOWD IT! I bow to you Iavarone. Go git whatever they selling, like NOW.

This store has an eclectic variety of shelf stable products, a Deli Dept. that has American, Italian, Polish cold cuts, and salads. The guys that slice the cold cuts are experts; each slice is evenly cut, and the way you asked. There is a separate meat market in the back, with an "Old-world" style butcher. Their produce section is amazing. It's the world wide selection of fresh produce, herbs, and vegetables that is truly amazing. Keep your Translator app open. Many of the cans & bottles are in the native language from the country where they are produced. The experience is akin to being in a market in another country. The staff somehow keeps the shelves and bins filled, actually know what they are handling, and they can answer a question. There's a navigator that keeps the check-out line moving. The prices on most items are very inexpensive, almost from 20 years ago and the quality is comparable to one of those upscale supermarkets.

Amazing cheesesteak. Best in the city. Rivals the best cheesesteaks in Philly…read more Danny (owner of Philly's Angelos) teaming up with Bradley, the story has been told multiple times this year - but damn does it deserve the recognition. Danny brings back the same identical cheesesteak he perfected at Angelo's. The cooper sharp melts in your mouth, the steak seasoned so well - salty and savory, the onions, the sesame bun. It's incredible. Service was great; even on suboptimal weather days it's busy. Inside the music is loud and no seats available, only a plain narrow shop with counters on the wall. It's hot and humid from the heat of the kitchen, it's compact and simple. The whole shop screams perfection at its core, and I'm listening... you should too.

Is it worth the hype! Absof*#@ing-lutely! Could it be one of the best sandwiches I've ever…read morehad...yes it's on that list. Is it just a cheesesteak sandwich...maybe BUT...they bake their own bread which pairs perfectly, it's soft, with a perfect chew and the sesame is really toasty. Also from what I can tell, they mix the steak with the cheesesauce before adding to the sandwich, so EVERY bite is cheese-filled. It sounds like a small thing, but it makes every bite amazing! Option of either adding sweet, hot or mixed peppers. Definitely recommend to add one of those as the acidity adds a nice brightness to the sandwich. They open at noon and I went a little after and it was ~10 min wait to order and ~15 min wait for the food, so plan accordingly.

Interesting selection of Filipino groceries on the front and an incredible cafeteria style steam…read moretable in the back with a large, clean seating area. I don't know much about Filipino food, all I know is that every thing I got here was heavily seasoned, hearty home cooking. I got the combo with three dishes. First I got the eggplant and pork, which was seasoned with shrimp paste. This was very rich and salty and savory, and although I have never really eaten Filipino food before, this dish gave me an intense food memory but I couldn't nail down what it was reminding me of. The pork is soft and fatty and gelatinous. I also got some kind of chicken stew which came in a sauce of tomato and bell pepper. This was my least favorite the three, but still a solid dish. It reminded me of my mom's chicken chili but more intense and heavily seasoned. The chicken has small bone fragments I had to be careful to pick out. Lastly, I got the pork adobo on the employees recommendation. It was super tangy and vinegary and the pork was very soft and fatty. I got noodles with my meal, but after they were already on my plate the employee told me all these dishes go very well with rice. I wish I had gotten rice, it seems that's the way to go and I will certainly do so when I return. This food is hearty and well seasoned and the portions were very large and more than worth the price. I paired my meal with a couple interesting drinks and a dessert from the grocery sections and had a fantastic meal. Looking forward to my next visit.
