We visited Eddis & Sons on a late afternoon during a less busy time of day. You're greeted with a simple menu with the staples and decided to go for a classic Philly cheesesteak +mushrooms/peppers for $1.50 more plus some truffle fries and a Philadelphia local, Hank's glass bottled root beer. Each sandwich is made to order. There were four orders ahead of us and two workers in the kitchen. It took about 20-25mins to get our food which we were okay with as we had no rush, but definitely doesn't represent as easy grab and go spot --not that they're claiming that by any means. There are a couple benches to wait for your order and a standing bar on the front window, but no indoor seating. The weather was nice enough to hang out on the front patio tables. Philly Cheesesteak was up there with the best I've had. I haven't made a trip to Philly, but as the numerous customer feedback cards on the wall suggest, this was a delicious authentic cheesesteak! Truffle fries were expertly seasoned with a pretty standard garlic aoli and didn't seem overly greasy/salty as I've had other places. Food portions were generous as one sandwich (fork for scale) and order of fries satisfied my wife and me. Since hearing about Eddis & Sons Cheesesteaks I have been wanting to check them out and I will say I for sure waited too long. The good news it's close to my office. I went with the Classic Cheesesteak Wiz Wit (with cheese wiz and onions and fries. I will say glad we got there when we did because by 12:15PM-12:20PM the place had become packed. After about 15 minutes from ordering out food was ready and the waiting for sure made me hungry. I quickly got into my cheesesteak and it looked very good. Finely chopped rib-eye that was well seasoned nice and tender with no tough piece and also plenty of cheese wiz which is always a plus for me. I will say the onions were well caramelized but with the beef it was a little greasier them I normally like. For sure looked with a lot of oil. But still good for me when it comes to cheesesteaks in Florida. Also one half of my cheesesteak for sure had more meat then my other half. The fries were crinkle cut which are on a lower tier for fries for me but they were nice and crispy. Almost like they were fried twice. All and all I enjoyed Eddis & Sons Cheesesteaks and it for sure a top 5 cheesesteak I have had in Jacksonville and for sure the best on this side of the bridge. Hands down my favorite cheesesteak place in JAX! I am from New Jersey and would frequently visit Philly for an authentic steak. This place is as close as you can come without being in Philly itself. The cheesesteaks are always fresh, delicious and huge! I always get the cheesesteak with American cheese and grilled onions. I am never disappointed. Came here for lunch today and was blown away at how absolutely delicious the cheesesteak was. I've been to Philly and opted to go for the wit with whiz. Had a similar one in New Jersey a couple of years ago and can honestly say this was the best of all the cheesesteaks I've eaten. I opted for the lunch special but to be fair, I'd rather have had the larger sub just to have left overs. The lunch special comes with a 7" cheesesteak, fries and a drink. The fries were hot, fresh and lovely and crispy. I wish they'd open a store on the other side of the river, but then my waist says I'm glad they're not lol. These could definitely become addicting. Finally got the chance to try this place out! Located on a tiny strip plaza on Bowden Rd and very convenient from my office. I'd say they have a good variety of cheesesteak subs/hoagie. I wanted something light and delicious so I choose the Daily 7" Philly Special vegan with Beyond "meat" and vegan cheese. It comes with small fries and a Pepsi or water. Definitely add the onions! I love cheesesteaks and honestly don't trust many places to make a good one. I've been sorely disappointed on many occasions. This is consistently one of the best cheesesteaks I've had outside of Philly! I crave this place at least once a month and have been coming for the last year. I've only had one experience where my sandwich wasn't top notch. It's a small shop, not meant for dine-in, but there are tables and benches outside for eating. I definitely recommend calling beforehand because the waits tend to be pretty long, especially around lunch and dinner time. If I were going to knock a star off, it'd be for wait time. I get the cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms. If I'm feeling extra greedy, I get extra meat and extra cheese (pictured below). The hoagies are always nice and fresh, the meat is juicy and flavorful, and the white American cheese is chef's kiss. The game changer though? I always ask for the cheese on top! That way I get the best ratio of meaty cheesy goodness, rather than having the bread try to be the star of the cheese show. Amazing! Having lived in Philadelphia, I can attest that this place offers a fine homage to the iconic sandwich created in the City of Brotherly Love. Being the owners are originally from Philadelphia, they know the nuances, both big and small, that can make a restaurant centered around a Philly cheesesteak great. The key to a great cheesesteak is obviously the steak. In Philadelphia, the steak of choice for a cheesesteak sandwich is thinly shaved ribeye. Not only does Eddie & Sons use that ribeye, but they put it on an Amoroso roll, a beloved roll in Philadelphia. They offer a choice of cheeses, including "wiz," which blends with the meat and makes for a glorious filling. They also offer a variety of cheesesteaks you would find in Philadelphia, things like a cheese steak hoagie, which includes lettuce, tomato and mayo, and the pizza steak, which is topped with provolone and tomato sauce. This is a long-standing favorite cheesesteak of mine and this is what I ordered. This was a serious sandwich and done very well. Alright so here it is. First off this place does deserve 5 starts, I've had it a few times before today and it's been incredible and definitely the most comparable to an authentic Philly. TONS of meat and cooked perfect every time before today. I walked in to pick up a phone order today, and instead of the normal guy who kills it on the grill it was a woman I've never seen. Not sure if she's new, so if she is I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Plus she was extremely nice when I walked in and she was working hard. Although I have to say, if these are the portions moving forward I'm not sure if I'll keep going here as it's just not the same. I will definitely go back again in hopes that it's the same as the first five times I've been. All of the staff has been awesome every time I've been here. Stopped in today with some friends for some lunch at this establishment which is located in a strip mall on Bowden Road near Salisbury Road. The facility has a small menu that consists of different types of cheesesteaks, fries, and chips along with various bottled sodas and waters. There is no indoor seating only limited outside seating or placing a to-go order. We opted for an order to go as I was hot outside but hotter in the restaurant. All area were clean but definitely a little dated. Staff was friendly but they had to scream a little or talk loud bc the kitchen is so noisy. All orders are made at time of order. In ordered the cheese steak hoagie (cheese steak with LTO and mayo) with some old bay fries. Your cheesesteak will come with a choice of cheez whiz, white cheddar and provolone), I opted for provolone. All of my items were well cooked and packaged to avoid a mess. When I got back to my office, I dug in and found the food to be delicious but I was surprised that my friends 7 inch sub from her value meal deal (sub, small fries and a drink) was the same size as my full size sub. Eddis and Sons Handcrafted Cheesesteaks opened up for business 3 weeks ago and it just so happens that a good Philly Cheesesteak sandwich are just some of the food I'm always on the hunt for. Now I've had a couple of good Philly Samiches here and there, and that's about it. And last I've had an authentic Philly Sandwich, I was in Philadelphia and that was many moons ago. So when I heard of Eddis serving Phillies, I just had to check them out.  Walking inside the store, I had a chance to speak with Mike, who happens to be a native Philadelphian. Between Mike and Chris (the owner, also a native Philadelphian), their vision of bringing authentic Cheesesteak sandwiches comes to life. Mike gave me some good tid bits about the new place. Their strip steaks comes directly from Philadelphia; they're flash frozen Delmonico & Rib eye mixture. The bread and rolls they use are shipped directly from Amoroso's, a famous bread shop in Philadelphia. Same goes for their pickled peppers. So without further adoo...what did I order looking at the menu? A Philly Cheesesteak of course and it was a rather delicious one. While I haven't checked out the in-person experience, their delivered sandwiches are top notch and -- as a mostly vegetarian eater -- a great way to satiate a cheesesteak craving while staying meatless. My husband, who's picky when it comes to sandwiches, gave his classic cheesesteak two thumbs up, and I give the same to my Beyond cheese"steak" sandwich. The bread is perfect, the onions were grilled nicely, and the provolone cheese rounded it out to be on par with my in-Philadelphia experiences. (And yes, they also have Cheese Whiz. I should have opted for the smaller sandwich with fries and a drink for around the same price. They made it fresh and the wait was about 5 minutes. Some decent decorations in the lobby. Normally I don't get a steak cheesesteak from anywhere, because they always seem dry and need moisture, so I usually get the chicken cheesesteak. However, after a nail in our tire thought we deserved a break from driving I searched Yelp for something good to eat in the area while we wait on a roadside assistance. The pictures for this location looks amazing and the reviews were good. We had our little dog, so it was great that they had outside tables. Took a Lyft back here from the dealership and it was so worth it! With that being said this was the juiciest cheesesteak I've ever had (no Mayo needed). This was also THE BEST cheesesteak I've ever eaten, and it beat out the chicken cheesesteak that I thought was the best in the Atlanta area. This really should be eaten at home with a hand towel nearby!!! I got the extra cheese wiz (THE BEST) (Highly Addictive), and extra American cheese.
