Another great visit here. Richard was taking care of us, and cranked up our appreciation of this place even more-! he's great guy all around - we forgot our "to-go" soda, and he came running out after us with it. We tried the Devil Dog Frickles (Ooorah!) which are lightly battered fried pickles and a nice sauce (I added a bit more ketchup to the sauce... - that's just me) 1 these are good! The parking lot is small, so if you don't get lucky, there's street parking. The host was super nice. A booth opened up and because a party of 4 checked In Right after my Mom and I. They got the booth. We had to sit at a table. Not cool. Really not cool. I think that was messed up. The table we sat at held 4 people. Waitress very sweet. Very helpful. Got a draft Mich ultra-not the coldest :/ Ordered a large Italia New York style pizza. So the waitress came to us and said she messed up our large italia ny style pizza, so we got to try the Italia Chicago style pizza, at no charge! Both the Chicago and New York were a-mazing. I've reviewed Carmine's multiple times before and raved about the food, the friendly service, the casual neighborhood atmosphere, etc. I needed to review again because I had to point out that while Carmine's is know for its pizza, and subs, I don't know if people are aware that they make one of the best veggie subs around. It was amazing! This crispy eggplant, and great combination of peppers and veggies to fill it out. Just a really well thought out vegan option where you thought there might not be one. I feel fortunate to live so close and have Carmine's as one of our "go to" establishments for carry out. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend you do. read more

Visiting Carmine's makes me feel like I'm in a borough with the neighborhood regulars on a Friday at 4:45 after a long work week. The bustling and busy decor means there's always something to entertain your eyes, and the quality ingredients mean you can indulge in your pizzeria faves without regret 3 hours later. I am a huge fan of their wings because they're breaded but still so crispy with sauce, their sauces are great, and even though they have "jumbo "in their name on the menu, they're not ridiculously large in that way that makes them not feel like wings anymore. Their sausage - which can be ordered on a sub or as a pizza topping, is in my opinion some of the best in the city. I would love to have an entire link of it with some pasta. The red sauce, which I've tried with both the giant meatball and the "chicky on a plate," (chicken parm) has a good texture and it's pretty standard. While this restaurant looks and feels like a classic old-school pizza spot, the menu actually has a lot of diversity and uniqueness. read more

Carmines has been my favorite restaurant for many many years. Great food, cool place great people! But over the last year service has slowed down, food has taken longer to get. Tonight won the prize. Was sat, no drinks, no server, finally she came and ordered our drinks and food. Apps and one meal came, had to wait on the other one. The whole time we were there, no drink refills, no asking how's the food, NOTHING. She didn't come to our table not even one time!!! It was a Sunday night, the restaurant was half full. Then when it was time for the check, she said " do you trust me?" And that was so confusing and then she said do you trust me with your card or do you want me to come with the check.. that was about the only thing she said to us the whole time we where there. Listen, I love Carmines and always will but tonight was an awful experience. And to add on to that, we saw someone else who worked there ask her if she checked on us yet. I'd give it a one star, but it was hot. Hot mess, albeit. Greasy. Cheese tastes cheap, ratio to sauce is off, resulting in ZERO structure. Watched my box sit for five minutes before getting it. Same thing has happened the last two times. An older gentleman (owner?) seems dead-set on getting in everybody's way, engaging customers that seem indifferent to an interaction. Carmine's online ordering and carryout for the holiday helping win! After evening baking everyday this week, I was ready to make dinner easy before making my next holiday cookie batch. Quick and easy online ordering with our order ready about 20 minutes later allowed me to eat dinner and get right to baking after work today. We ordered the veggie panini and the thin crust Boca Raton. The eggplant was the star of the panini with all the other ingredients complimenting it well. Glad we chose the toasted panini, the crispy crunch of the bread was great. Love the flavors of the pizza, I'm not usually a fresh tomato fan on pizza, but it works really well with the fresh spinach and cheese. As always, I just wish it was more of a "white" pizza, wanting more yummy ricotta. We love having Carmine's close to home for a delicious, easy meal option! read more

I'm surprised I didn't have a review of Carmines. I like the fact that their pizza is a bit different from most pizza spots in Jacksonville. The restaurant has a nice hip vibe and is a great place to catch a bit on a Saturday afternoon. I've had the Chicago Deep dish, regular pepperoni pizza and Pepperoni Calzone. The calzone was my favorite. Crust crispy yet fluffy and the sauce was flavorful. My Favorite pizza spot is Lou Malnati's in Chicago so I was not really impressed by the deep dish pizza here but everything else was pretty tasty. read more

I ordered carry out catering food for my daughter's wedding to feed about 60. Mujo (sp) was amazing- there was a pricing sheet, but it was "give or take"...more like an estimate than a quote. I ordered late ( just two weeks) and added to the order twice- the last add was the day before. The food was ready exactly when they said it would be, included unexpected "extras" (garlic toast for every plate, spaghetti for chicken parm and eggplant parm). The food: amazing! Lasagna, chicken bow tie Alfredo, chicken parm and eggplant parm got rave reviews. Some out of town foodies were streaming compliments. When "clean up time" rolled around, we had plenty of help hoping to snag "to go" portions. NOTHING was discarded. The price: less than expected. I have heard tons of great things about this place and I've been meaning to go for months. I'm happy to report it absolutely deserves the hype! I placed an order for pickup and it was ready in less than 30 minutes during lunch on a Saturday. I got the 10" New York style with pineapple and my mom got the 10" New York style with feta and black olives. Both of our pizzas were cooked to absolute perfection. The crust is thicker than a classic slice you get on the street in New York, but still absolutely delicious. I would compare the thickness to Papa John's pizza. You could tell the cheese they use is super high quality and there wasn't that layer of grease you get on some pizzas. Generous amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings! This place is an easy five stars and I'll definitely be returning to try their Chicago style. read more

I ordered a plain cheese pie and waited.. the pizza was very droopy and needed to be held with both hands otherwise the cheese was going to slide off.. as for taste it was good, but not special by any means; it is better than fast food pizza. I tried here through Doordash and was pleasantly surprised. I was in the mood for pizza but ended up ordering pasta and a sandwich cause the pictures online looked so good. I loved the chicken cordon bleu panini. I've never had it in sandwich form before, and I'm happy I tried it. I also ordered the Alfredo, but it's something you'd want to eat fresh and in person. Delivery made it cold and not easy to mix. I won't knock a star off of it for that since I choose delivery instead of eating in. I know it would have been even better fresh. Being a long time patron of Carmine's I was completely disappointed when I brought my mom, who also loves Carmine's, here for Mother's Day. When my family and I showed up we were nicely greeted and we were asked to wait a moment while they cleared some tables. Once we sat we waited over 10 minutes to get our drink order taken and get menus. We were told she wasn't our waitress and that our waitress would be along shortly. That took awhile as well. Our drinks were all given to the wrong people. Our food came fairly quickly however our food was not up to the normal Carmine's standard that I'm used to. My Fathers pasta order looked like soup. He barely picked at it but he didn't want to complain. We waited quite some time for our waitress to circle back to ask us for refills. When that finally happened she then completely forgot about us and we sat there for 15-20 mins just waiting. We decided to get up and got our own to go boxes. We finally got our waitress back with an "apology" for the delay but at that point we no longer wanted refills. We just wanted our check so we could leave. Normally we get desserts, we love their desserts, but we had no interest in being there any longer. I was so disappointed with this being Mother's Day and wanting to take my mom to one of her favorite places for pasta and cheesecake.
