2024 I should be addressing this to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. These folks are straight up liars and thieves. I ordered a storm door by Larson in May. They said it'll take 4-8 weeks. We paid a $500 deposit and hoped for sooner. At 6 weeks I called to check in. "Oh got nothing for ya. It'll take a while." Believing him, I continued to wait. At 12 weeks I had enough. They said "We don't know what to tell ya. There's folks that've been waiting 6 months!" I said BS and called Larson screen doors myself. Lasaid there's no backlog and a screen door will never take longer than 3 weeks. I went in to Edelen with knowledge and asked what what was going on and to produce an invoice number that was sent to Larson--They couldn't or wouldn't. I told them what Larson had said and his response was-- "She doesn't know what she's talking about!" I called BS and got my deposit back. I immediately ordered the same screen door from Truax Building Supply and received my door in less than two weeks!!! So, it's safe to say that Edelen Door and Windows had no intention of ordering my door. Took my $500 and just plugged it into their pockets, and then blatantly lied to me over and over and over again! The part that really upsets me is that we could've had the screen door for the whole summer. And EDELEN knew that and just kept up the lie and fraud. These folks are repulsive thieves! read more

I have been going here for various services on my garage door. My most recent encounter was last month when I purchased a retractable screen door. I opted to install myself since I didn't want to pay the extra installation cost. When I picked it up the person that checked us out printed out the installation instructions, went through it page by page with me. He then found out that the instructions wasn't too clear and was missing a page. He then took me to the back. Assembled majority of the parts. Him and one other person helped me. They wanted to make sure that I don't miss a step. It only took me 15 minutes to install when I got home. I was very satisfied. They have gone beyond my expectation. Accidentally closed garage door on my rear bumper and damaged it. Called Edelen Door. Talked to the door man at 3 pm and said he would be out to look at it on the way home to Milwaukee as I live in Clackamas. He said he gets off at 5 pm. I waited till 6:30, NO SHOW, NO CALL. Called next morning and asked what happen. He said he forgot and there was a man in my area and would look at it. He arrived in the next few minutes. Great! He took pictures and talked to his office he said they would get back to me with an estimate. It has been 5 days and no call back for estimate. I would like it repaired as soon as possible. I want to thank Jay Higgs for his excellent customer service today. When I walked in Edelen's door, David Whitchurch greeted me even though he was on the phone. Jay came to help me within a minute. I was looking for a part that seemed impossible to find. A spring latch for a Symington window. It's the small latch on each side of the top of a single hung window, that allows you to drop the window open to the inside of the house for cleaning. I had been to, or called almost every hardware store in town and nobody had it. I ordered a part that looked like it from Home Depot, and it was 3 times the size. grrrr Edelen Door and Window, had a box of spare parts for Symington Windows, stashed on a shelf and found the correct part. I have used these guys for three projects. Steve H the sales guy is a great guy, but unfortunately, his support staff is the worst. I ordered my product in the end of June and was told 6 weeks, which is fine. But when the 6 weeks came up and I started to call to see what was going on, my phone calls were not returned. I believe the schedulers name is David. He is rude, he lies and NEVER follows up with phone calls or emails. I was told they lost my order, I was told my order fell behind his desk and I was told Steve never passed the information on to him. I was also told the gentleman they wanted to do the install was on vacation and when he got back he would complete the work. Only to find out they never ordered the custom door. You would think after spending close to 10 grand over the course of three projects, that when they realized they made a mistake, they would do what they could to expedite the process because I am a return client. But no, more rudeness, more lies. I was told that I would get a discount, but received the final bill, it was full price. I paid it....and waited a couple of months to do so, because the bill fell 'behind my desk'. I have four more projects to do in the house and the next time, they will not be getting a call from me. Well i waited 4days and had to call him back only to hav him say he messed up and was supposed to call me back and get more measurments which i already had gave him, so i gave them to him again and he said he call me back so finally after 10 days i call back and hes out of office and no one there can even find my order. Then i get a call finally from him saying he cancelled order cuz manufacturers couldnt do it for the quoted price and time frame. What did i want to do? The spring on our garage door broke unexpectedly (as springs always do). A friend gave me the name of Edelen. I called, not expecting someone to be available on the same day. But, delightfully, Kevin was available. He arrived in less than 2 hours from my initial phone call. He moved fast, he knew what he was doing, and he was friendly. I have to say that his service and expertise were stellar. Little did I know that garage doors should be maintained and tuned up regularly. I have to say that he went above and beyond for me. Both of our doors are now working very acceptably. Of course, I don't want to spend additional money but if service or doors are needed in the future, I'd be happy to contact them again. read more

I needed a garage door opener. I went in person to their store and left my contact information and the basics of what I wanted. I was told that my info would be passed on to their garage door guy. This was just after noon yesterday. This morning bright and early their garage door guy called on the phone. He told me what products they had available, gave me the prices for the cheapest door opener and the top of the line opener. Surprisingly they were within a couple hundred dollars of each other installed. Told him what I wanted and asked how far out was the installation date. He said how about in an hour? I gave the okay and in just under an hour he was there, I showed him the door that needed an opener and turned him loose. It took about an hour and a half and he was done and showing me the safety features first, then proper operating procedure, then gave a couple of troubleshooting hints as to where the most likely problems might occur (mainly an occluded sensor or power outage). Very polite, very professional and didnt leave a mess. Ive been using these guys for probably close to 20 years and they havent let me down yet. Thanks Edelen. read more

Broken Garage Torsion Spring. This is the 2nd time I had service from Edelen Doors and Windows Company. The first time lasted 6 years ago, so I can't complain. As matter of fact, I was really impressed with the technician Santiago Llanos, they sent out to service my broken garage spring. I used to work as a field service tech for Xerox as a copier technician for 10 years, so I know when observing someone's work will tells me if they are an experienced and knowledgeable person. Santiago knows exactly what he was doing the entire time. He measured & measured and even repositioned the spring mount center-plate that was like that forever. Every little detail was performed flawlessly. Once the springs replacement was done, he then tune-up and lubricated every moving parts of my garage doors hinges and bushings. The entire job went well efficient and he cleaned up every drip on the floor from lubrication. He even advised me not to put too much grease on the screw drive track to prevent grease from dripping from the hot summer. I. Santiago has been doing this for 15 years so I trust his work and would recommend him to anyone who needs service on garage door. read more

We just finished a kitchen remodel and it included a beautiful black French door. We needed a screen, and because the new French door was an outswing, the screen door had to be on the inside, and retractable. We talked to several different screen door companies, including Phantom and Clearview, but what they offered would cove up the beauty of the new door. A friend who makes doors told us about Edelen Doors who carry Glidescreen. We took a look at the Glidescreen door in their showroom. It was exactly what we wanted! The door we ordered was custom made for us on-site, and painted with the same color and sheen of our French door. The screen hardware blends in so well it is invisible. The handles slide up or down so they're out of sight when you want them to be. It's the PERFECT door for us. I wish this could be a higher rating, and it is not in regards to their products, as I have heard only rave reviews about the work they do and their products. The complaint is about the person who does their contracting and contacts customers. I finally gave up trying to work with them as he didn't respond to an email, sent a week before and when I expressed frustration from not hearing from him, his reply "I didn't see this email"! I would think a customer relations person would be checking their emails several times a day, and when a customer asks for a scheduled installation there would be a prompt reply. I was a customer who wanted their product and was prepared to schedule an installation. NOT, "I didn't see this email" Also, there should be a receptionist or other person who answers the phone, each time I have called, it is someone who says "hello" and when I ask for the person I wish to speak with, he has not been available and the I am told, "I will have him call you back". The first time this happened, I never did get a call back, so I called again, and eventually when I spoke with the person I wanted, he told me he had never received my message. Darren gave us a quote, gave us a time frame when the door would come in and then gave us an installation date. He came when he said he would come, professionally installed the door, did a little extra work for us and completed the job. Couldn't have asked for a better job! Poor customer service from the SW Portland showroom and inadequate follow-up. Initial estimated arrival for solarium slider door was 4-6 weeks. Four weeks later, the salesman left a message that it would be another 4 weeks (giving me the impression he messed up the order but not apologizing). Instead of Edelen giving me updates on the estimated arrival, I had to call and ask. The door finally arrived 10 weeks after the order date. Impact of the delay? My husband now has to install the door in the middle of the holiday rush, in rainy weather that is 10 degrees colder than 4 to 6 weeks ago. The SW Portland office told me they couldn't give me any updates on the order because there was no central tracking system, I was asked to call the NE Portland office for delivery information. The receptionist there said she would check on the order and leave a message on my home phone. When I got home from work, there was no message. When I called the next day, she laughed and blamed our phone system for her inability to leave a message. After the door arrived, she told me that we would be called the next morning to schedule delivery. No call. When I called back to ask, she said that we should call the delivery man ourselves! The whole experience has been unsatisfactory with repeated instances of poor continuity in service. After reading some of the other negative reviews and similar complaints (see the Better Business Bureau feedback) on the internet, I wonder why anyone would want to do business with Edelen. Why should Portlanders support a local, small business when their (presumed on my part) primary selling point--customer service--is so poorly executed? read more

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS AT ALL!!!! Steve H. Who will come look at job, measure and bid, is great. That's the last great/good/mediocre feeling you will have if you go forward with them. So, after the measure and bid, it took 5 months for them to get the doors(1 exterior frame, 1 double master set). Then the install #1, oh joy! Except the double master doors were hinge drilled incorrectly so had to be reordered. Reframing completed with faulty caulking that not only took 6 days to reach "tacky" but also smells like poop, not as in just bad smelling but actual feces. And installer left without a word-no checking work, no see ya, no we will call about the reordered doors. Install #2-ask about caulking from last install, he is confused but will look into it-yeah, nothing from him on this. Installed double master to find that they are too small. Does he say anything-nope, just took off once again. So now I have double master doors that when closed let's light in all around framing. Oh, and they're so loose that even when the top bolt is slid into frame, they bow in 3". First call in to chat about problem left me on hold for 12 minutes before I hung up and redialed. I demanded my old doors back which installer took without permission. Go to Home Depot, Lowes, DIY, hell, even your dearly departed granny could manage to do a better job for you than this company. If I could provide a review that was less than one star - it would be for this business. It seems we had similar issues with "lost paperwork" as I've read in other reviews. Their communication and transparency with us throughout our business endeavor was less than desirable. We only ordered materials for them as we had someone else to install them and there were many mistakes along the way. We ordered many windows for our house and multiple doors. Forget about the length of the wait to get these items, we were also told the door would be delivered since it was their fault it wasn't at their shop yet but we had to physically pick it up. It would be different if they provided the customer service they state they strive for on their website but unfortunately this isn't any sort of "customer service" we plan on dealing with again. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future to take their business elsewhere. Next time we will definitely be more vigilant about reviews prior to doing business with people like this. read more

The springs broke on our garage door. My father had used Edelen in the past, so I gave them a call. They seemed knowledgeable and professional over the phone so I felt comfortable setting an appointment with them for two days later. "Kevin" pulled in to the driveway and seemed ill at ease from the start. Because the garage door was not working I had to walk him through the house to get to the garage. My two dogs were in the yard because I wanted to make sure they wouldn't get out of the house if he had to go in and out through the front door. Unfortunately it was the WORST experience I have EVER had with a contractor. I should have gone with my first instinct when I met him at the front door and never have let him in the house. I have never EVER felt uncomfortable or unsafe with a contractor before in my life. I even brought the dogs in to the house while he was there for added security, only to have him almost let them out when he left!!!! Thankfully he was off the property, the dogs safe, and the door locked within 10 minutes. I already called another company to do the work. I am shaking and crying but my dogs and I are safe.
