He did the repaired and completed by adjusting the garage door, but at the time there was an unapparent issue to all that was still left to be resolved and it was not noticed until after he had left. My garage door broke...I can't mow my yard. My grass is getting taller by the minute and my lawn mower is being held hostage inside the garage. My recycle bin is also being held hostage, so piles of paper are starting to overflow. I could try to pull the garage door up, but I can't, because the stupid rod inside the garage snapped like a twig and basically secured shut my garage door to the ground. So I decided to start shopping around for a garage guy. I took a picture with my phone and called around. Two people asked me that I texted the picture of the garage. John from Ever-Green Garage called and said that it looked pretty bad. John is an easy going guy. Friendly and often busy. So when we talked I told him that I couldn't get time off from work to have him come by just to take a look at it and take measurements. Since he lived near the area he offered to come by on a Sunday, though it was his day off, and take a look at it. He quoted me $350 to replace and upgrade the tension spring and rod. He mentioned that this would last for 10,000 cycles before wear and tear comes back to haunt me again. The other option was to pay $275 and he'll fix it, but didn't guarantee that it would hold after maybe 2 years. I figured the extra money would be worth it. He was upfront with me. Said that the makers of the garage door was a decent company but not one of the best. Just a lot of building companies use the company because it's cheap. He did inspect the door and was surprised that the garage door was still in good shape. He told me to look out for any loose screws as that happens a lot. He ordered the parts and a week later came by and did the job. The garage door now opens quietly. I'm thinking that I'll have him take a gander at my mom's garage door. John did a fantastic job fixing my garage and now my lawn mower is free to eat grass. The recycle can is now empty. FYI...I still haven't mowed the yard. read more

I found this company on Yelp based on the comments and gave them a call for an estimate on replacing my garage door. I talked to a guy named John. He mentioned that he wouldn't be able to give me a more detailed estimate unless he first was able to look at the garage door in person. I asked him to give me a ballpark figure anyway and then scheduled a time for them to stop by. A guy came over the next day (I forgot what his name was). After taking some measurements, he gave me a quote of $850 - $1100 for an insulated steel back door. He also mentioned that if I wanted to install an automatic garage opener, he would add it for $300 instead of the normal price of $325. I didn't have anything on paper so I asked him to write it down for me. He wrote the estimate down n paper and said that somebody at the company will be sending me a more formal quote via email. I received a quote from them in my email later that day. This estimate was more than what I was quoted in person. I replied back asking why it was such a difference to the quote that was given by their representative in person who physically looked at the garage door needing to be replaced. John called back saying it was a mistake by the person who came to the house to do the estimate. Thinking it was a different company since I had called a few others. I tried to text the number from the guy who came over. He confirmed that he is with the same company and that it was a mistake and would not honor the original quoted price. I feel ripped off even though it was just over a hundred dollars difference. It is all about principle. If this is the way they do business to lure in the customer, then raise the price later... then they definitely don't get my business. read more

Even though he didn't need to come to our home to fix our garage door. He saved us a service call by serving us professionally and courteously. Why can't all contractors be like this? It seems like providing a repair quote with all potential options should be so simple and straightforward, and Ever-Green is just exactly that. I called these folks in after an cagey, vague interaction with another, much larger outfit in regards to getting a quote to replace an overhead door lift. My phone conversation with John at Ever-Green netted me exactly what I was wanting - a straight-forward quote with multiple options and a quick turnaround. On the day of the scheduled service, these folks showed up and gave me an honest assessment of the condition of my door, all of the options for fixing it, ranging from the cheapest, low-budget fix all the way up to replacing the whole shebang. Regardless of the fact that I had planned to have a new lifter installed today, they were up-front with me about the costs and realities (my door is not in the best shape and was installed poorly - so the performance even with a new lift will not be the best). They agreed that for my situation and parameters, it would be best for me at this juncture to forego the lift and instead have them remove the old one, install a slide-lock, fix a few minor install issues and get the door working - all for the cost of a service call and cost for repairs. Or simply have them replace the door and do it right - my choice. But a choice I can make once armed with all the info. In short, they were cool with helping me make the right decision at a cost to them of not getting as much dough now, knowing that their approach will have me calling them and only them next time I need any help with my door. As well as my recommendation to others. I really don't know many other contractors that live by a longer-term business model like this. I know I'll have to replace this door within the next 5 years, and Ever-Green will have my business, as well as my recommendations to anyone else looking for door service/replacement. Their prices are not only competitive, their service-call charges are significantly less than those other guys I called. Add on that these dudes are friendly, personable, and know what they're doing. My garage door broke yesterday, and I discovered that one of the springs had sprung! Looked at Yelp for a few recommendations, and found Ever-Green. Called up John, who was very professional. He arranged for Chris to make a service call today (same day service - yay!), and gave me a rough quote over the phone. Chris called 30 minutes before arriving (always appreciated), and showed up right on time. He was super professional as well, got right to work on inspecting the garage door, and confirmed the spring problem. He took about an hour to replace both springs, and walked me through some maintenance tips to extend the life of the door. (Who knew I was supposed to be greasing certain parts of the door every year? Well, I do now!) All in all - they were awesome to work with. When I first bought my house 3 years ago, I called John for a maintenance appointment. He showed up on time, and after checking out the garage doors, he said everything was fine, and there was no maintenance to be done, and therefore he didn't feel right charging me. Not even for a service call. I was impressed. Last Thursday, the spring on my garage door snapped, and I was stuck. I found his card and called him the next day. Johnathan was on time and courteous. He took the time to diagnose our garage door problems and quickly completed a repair. He also gave us some maintenance instructions and coached us on how to extend the life of the garage door itself. Johnathan was honest and deliberate. I needed my garage opener fixed late Friday afternoon..First, he called me that morning and told me he had a cancellation and offered to meet me earlier...never had that happen except at the dentist! Then he was on time, took one look and there it was a sprung cable because of a missing pin...an old system he said, but it can be fixed for now and might last awhile longer. Probably the most horrifying part of my garage door breaking was the realization that I was going to have to find a contractor to fix it. I called a larger company and was told it would be about 3 weeks. I like to keep it local in Lents, so I gave John a call. I had a garage door emergency where my main spring broke on my overhead garage door and needed to get my car out. I called Johnathan Wilson the owner of Ever-Green Garage Doors and he came out the next day as promised. He was early than the promised time. What impressed me the most is that in the initial phone call he explained all of the estimated charges up front and that he had an option to pay by credit card. When he arrive he was professional, courteous, and very speedy in the repair. I do not think it took him longer than 30 minutes to complete the work. He also lubricated all the necessary areas and tightened all of the fasteners. When I now open the garage door now it is so quiet that my dodg does not even know when I arrive home. Johnathan also went out of his way to repair torn trim on the garge door and did not charge me for this service. I highly recommend him and the services he provides.
